No Bass in Headphones

I recently purchased a Toshiba Satelitte off of Best Buy, having purchased Toshibas prior, it was a no brainer, I never had a problem. Upon testing the headphones, I found the sound from the headphones was less than acceptable (I need the best sound to do my editing, and some music won't work without bass).
I went to Best Buy where they exchanged it for a newer, and better model. While it was faster, it had the SAME PROBLEM!
And NO, it's not the headphones, the headphones are high quality and work perfectly on all my other devices, and every headphone I put into the laptop won't fix the issue.
Can someone tell me how to fix it so my music/sound has bass?

WE HAVE SOLUTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Third try to cusomter support  was a charm. The tech had me reset the bios but that did not fix it. So here is the solution that does fix our problem.
On the right side where the new hidden menu is pull up the search icon. Type in DTS Sound and click on it. In there you will quicly find where you can adjust the bass, treble, voice, EQ, surrond, and bass boost for the internal, headphones, and external speakers. Be paitent with it for I am still setting it up for my taste. Already got this problem fixed on my daughters computer as well!

  • Lack of Clarity, Low Bass on Headphones S55-B5280

I was using some Sony Pro headphones that I purchased for audio production on my new Toshiba laptop and noticed a dramatic difference in the clarity today. I ended up doing a complete recovery image and put it back to factory defaults because was working yesterday. This did not fix the problem. I don't know if it's a driver issue with the manufacturer or what. I did notice that when going into the enhancements section for the Conexant HD drivers that if I choose Loudness Equalization it would let me choose it and Enable it. However, if I go to DTS and try to make the sound better by changing any functions for the headphones, that part is checked but shows Disabled in the status below. No matter if I check it or not, it will not Enable that function. I can't get it to sound like it did yesterday so I am totally baffled. I just got this laptop on 4/12/15. Any ideas??

I do not think you will see more details or different attitude from Verizon. You will see amount of data used in a time period, but no breakdown to what sites or what connected device. Verizon, as with the rest, basically says you used it, you pay for it - doesn't matter how you used it.
What type of devices do you have connected. Do you turn off and disconnect devices when not in use? 20 GB is very little for home Internet in my experience. We go through about 20 GB every day on home Internet. 20 GB;month is only 682 MB a day which can be done in 20 to 30 minutes easily.
Too bad you didn't get in on the double data promotions when they were available. 30 GB was for $130, and all the upper GB levels were doubled. Hopefully they will have that again.

  • Can I get more bass sound from my Mac?

I'm sitting here listening to music on my Macbook Pro, and I suddenly realize there is not enough bass (I love me some low sounds).  Is there a way to change the EQ for the whole system, not just in iTunes?

Man, those Bose speakers were the best, I'm telling you! They have something very similar now - here. Same price I paid nearly seven years ago. But do an Amazon search for Logitech speakers - here are some for $23, for example, that have a subwoofer.
Anything is better than the built-in speakers - even my Sony "Bass Booster" headphones!

  • Terrible sound after restore

I restored my ipod and deleted everything so i could put on a new library. But now the sound quality is terrible and there is no bass. my headphones have built in woofers that were being used before but now they arent. any ideas?

Were you using any EQ on the iPod previously? A restore would've set the EQ to off.

  • Bad sound mp3

when I try to play mp3 file on my new iphone4, the sounds is very poor, noticed specially vocals seem distant without fullness of bass thru headphone. When the same music is played on my itunes on PC, sounds fine.
it is not equalization problem and I use the same headphone and am beginning to wonder if this is a bad unit. If any ideas let me know.
    gychang

    May be a mini-jack problem.
An other possible explanation I can thing of: Have you applied an individual equalizer setting to your files? (Right-click on a file in iTunes / Get Info / Option / Equalizer Preset)

<SPAN>The problem is when I go to play music or games the Bass stops working and it sounds like its coming from the front speakers... I also can not control the bass anymore... but if I go back into the control panel and test everything works

I recently got a set of Medusa 5. headphones and am noticing the same problem.
Speaker tests, even THX tests off commercial DVD movies work correctly. When those test tones get around to the LFE channel the headphones properly play the bass and also vibrate... I can adjust the level of bass and vibration using the VIB volume on the headphone controller.
However when it games (EQ2 in my case) that I know have an LFE signal it doesnt sound right.. All comes from the front speakers it seems and there isnt any VIB. Actually there is very little "noticable" bass at all. Everythign else about the 5. soundfield appears to work correctly...front/center/rears. I can find a torch or something in game and stand in front of it, spin my character around and hear the sound of the flame go around me as it should. There just inst any bass when there should be.
Again movies and various test tones work correctly.. Games I play dont.

  • I connected my iPod Touch to a stereo system phono input using a cable with stereo jacks (red and white) on one end and that plugs into the iPod's headphone jack.  The problem is that the sound is extremely muffled and bass-heavy, with little treble.

I connected my iPod Touch to a stereo system phono input using a cable with stereo jacks (red and white) on one end and that plugs into the iPod's headphone jack.  The problem is that the sound is extremely muffled and bass-heavy, with little treble.  I have to turn the bass control on the stereo receiver to pratically zero in order for the sound coming through the stereo to be acceptable.  Is there a setting on either the iPod or the stereo that I need to change in order to fix this?

The phono input is for a phonograph.  The iPod does headphne output is not that same as a phongraph output.  Does th stero have an AUX input?  That should be compatible.

  • Conexant Smartaudio HD - No Bass with subwoofer and Headphones

    Hi,
I'm using a Satellite L70D-A, I when I plug a subwoofer into the audio port, the overall sound is different, like no bass
I plug in headphones and it is the same
Is it have to do with software or hardware? I'm on Windows 8
Edit: Found a solution. I uninstalled the Conexant Audio driver at Task Manager, restarted when prompted, then it installed a workable Audio driver. I did this once or twice until it worked.

    mate,
    i have the same problem....
i have a Pavilion g4 1104dx laptop and my bass is completely GONE.
I plug in my ipod to my external speaker system and its perfect... but through the audio jack its horrid.
i've played around with troubleshooting and loaded the SRS Premium sound file... but it did nothing so i deleted it again (as you also found).
All my levels on my system equalizer seem normal and my itunes eq is normal also...
what is this random problem?????? does anyone know????
I called tech support at HP and they tried to charge me 50 bucks as its out of warranty lol...
    thanks

  • Bass fuzzing out with headphones

When I have headphones plugged into the jack, the bass on all audio fuzzes out. I know it's not the headphones (Sennheiser HD 280, Bose Triport around ear, iPod standard earbuds all have the same problem). It's most likely due to the constant swapping between devices (I plug it into a 1/8"-1/4" adapter and hook it up to an amp, and then swap it back to headphones), but I was wondering if
a.) It's covered under the apple extended care plan
b.) Is there any kind of cleaning I can do to restore quality?
c.) Possible that all 3 headphones are wrong, and there's an internal audio level problem?
Thanks for any help/advice you can give.

    Hi Steve,
which application you use to play that audio, and is it a regular songs from iTunes or one of your garage band song project.
Sometimes, the songs not equalize properly and too much boost on low frequency might caused that too.
Check your iTunes and try not to use any equaliser on your iTunes:
iTunes > window > equalizer > uncheck the on or choose flat.
    Good Luck.

  • No Bass from new In-Ear Headphones

Is there a way to test the drivers in the headphones? I'm wondering if the woofer isn't functioning properly. The sound is very clear, but there is next to nothing on the low-end. The fit is extremely snug, but when I press them to my ear to double-check the bass increases, but not by much. When I do the same to my cheap $10 skullcandy headphones, I can clearly feel/hear the bass.

I hate to disappoint you with the same experience.
I tried everything. Different plugs, equalizer, on my old nano, on my macbook (and of course with my 2nd generation iPod touch). Everywhere the same experience. A very flat bass. It seems as if those headphones support more bass, since I played a favorite song of mine with a loooot of bass that seems to break out when you use the regular headphones. The in-ear headphones gave a nice bass — but very flat, not at all rich, load or anything. I will give those headphones back.
The only thing I am wondering about is if this might be a manufacturing problem. Maybe a lot of those delivered headphones have a problem with the bass while maybe 90% function correctly?! But this might be verified by others. Is there anybody out there who doesn't have this problem? Anybody who can actually judge sound quality???
Because—at the matter of fact, this is the only problem these headphones have. Wonderfully designed and fitting well ... and I love the remote. But if the bass isn't good, they are still worthless.
    ANYBODY???

  • Problem with iTunes and low quality playback on headphones

So I have an awesome pair of Phillips headphones that are awesome and recently i've been using my headphones and noticed that during playback the audio quality was not what it used to be. Crackily on the high notes and fuzzy on the bass notes plus overall just bad quality. I investigated more and isolated the problem to itunes and not my headphones. They work perfectly on an ipod or when I play a video on youtube. So I am wondering what is wrong. I assume it as something to do with iTunes. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
    -Winfield

I did try adjust the sound enhancer originally (should have noted that). It helped with some of the notes, did not fix. Where is the equalizer in 10.6?

  • I lost one of the earbuds for my Apple In-ear Headphones with Mic. Now what do It do?

I lost one of the earbuds for my Apple In-ear Headphones with Mic.
In case you don't see why this could be a big deal, let me remind you that these little earphones will run you $79 new. Naturally, I'm sure there's got to be a reasonable solution that another owner of these headphones may know of or can share with me.
Should I bring it to the Apple store or will they just laugh at me?
Basically, all I'm missing is the jelly-like in-ear bud on one side (which is easily replaceable; I just need to know where I can order GENUINE extras from).
Click here to see the Apple In-ear Headphones I'm referring to.

I've tried several and the best by far is the Sennheiser MM50 iP ($99 at the apple store). The sound is incredible, particularly the low frequecy response (bass). These are even better than the Bose Triports I used for my iPod, plus they have the mic and button for recieving calls and ipod playback. I also have the airdrives, which don't even compare for sound quality and range because they aren't in-ear (they sit directly in front of the ear canal). I still use the airdrives in situations where I want music distraction but still want to hear what's happening around me, but for in-ear sound quality and iPhone functionality I don't think you're going to find better for the Sennheisers for under $100. In fact I don't think their is anything under $250 right now that would match it for performance, comfort and functionality.
Note: these are asymmetrical which means the cord for the right earbud goes behind your neck to the right ear. I found this strange at first but now I actually like it because it allows you to pull the earlplugs out and just let them rest over your neck/shoulders.

  • NO LONGER THE BEST HEADPHONES FOR ZEN TO

    <DIV align=center>********** UPDATE **********
    <DIV align=center>
I can no longer recommend these earbuds due to poor quality. Mine broke after only a few weeks of moderate use. I handled them gingerly too. The left channel lost all bass and 50% of the volume. In my opinion, this is simply inexcuseable! I returned them and got another pair, but that is besides the point. Now I'll have to listen with my fingers crossed, hoping and praying that this pair dosen't unexpectedly die for no reason. With this kind of poor quality control, I can no longer recommend these. In spite of how great they sound, I'd have to tell you to buy at your own risk!
If you want your Zen Touch to reach its full potential, you need to upgrade your headphones. The included earbuds are OK, but they don't bring out the best in the Zen. The ones I would highly recommend are the Sony MDR-EX7SL. I've never been interested in the in the ear style headphones before. I always assumed that they just couldn't produce sufficient bass because of their small drivers. Boy was I wrong. Unlike conventional over the ear headphones, earbuds don't rely on large size drivers to produce bass. Their bass is achieved through an "air tight seal". That's why these come with three different size silicon ear buds. A tight seal is essential, yet easily achieved with one of the three different sizes included. The sound reproduced by these is astonishing! I have no desire to go back to full size over the ear headphones. The bass is deep, well controlled and tight with no distortion or muddyness. The midrange is airy and transparent. The highs are pristine and velvety smooth. All frequencies are well balanced. These things are so tiny, when you first see them you can't help but be skeptical. One listen and your jaw will drop. If you read any negati've reviews about these babies, the reviewer probably doesn't have the proper fit. They also come in white, which is a perfect match for my Creative Zen Touch 40GB. Run out and buy these now! Trust me. You won't regret it.
One note. If you want to save yourself $0.00, you can get the MDR-EX5SL instead. They use the same exact drivers. The only differences are: they come in black only, they have a single 4 ft. cord instead of a two piece cord, they only come with two different size silicon earbuds (instead of 3) and there is no carrying case included.
<B><FONT color=#92560>Cons:</B> Carrying case could be a little bigger.

I think the 5s are a better value. I'll confess. I bought the 7s because I liked the white.
