ingorlando1,
First, try this Easy Fix that may actually work:
Notebooks- Forced Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues- Sealed Non-Removable Battery
Notebooks - Use Hard Reset to Resolve Hardware and Software Issues - Removable Battery
=====================================================================================
After the Reset, if that does not work by itself, do try and uninstall the Driver again so it can reinstall at boot:
Reinstall the current Validity Sensor Driver:
Control Panel > icon view > Device Manager > Biometric Devices > Validity Sensor >>
Right-Click on the Validity Sensor driver and "Uninstall" (do NOT delete it)
Restart / Reboot the computer and log in
The driver will reinstall itself as you log in
If still no joy:
What is your product number and your exact Operating System, please?
Locate the Notebook Product Number
===========   OR    ================
On your keyboard (Use the built-in keyboard, and not an external / USB controlled device):
Press the FN and ESC keys at the same time

  • Biometric device not found

hi, after installing the driver for my fingerprint scanner, i go into control panel to find the fingerprint scanner, but it's not there. it says " windows did not find any biometric devices on this computer. You might need to attach your device or install device drivers."

  • Validity Sensor fingerprint reader is not listed in Biometric Devices

I recieved an Elitebook 840 G1, tried to turn on the fingerprint reader, but it hasn't been recognized.
At Control Panel/Biometric Devices there is no device, although in the Device Manager the "Validity Sensor" is listed, the driver looks up to date too. I've installed HP ProtectTools Security Manager, there I can find the option Fingerprints, but at the Windows logon there is still Username/Password the only option to log on to the system.
Checked BIOS, Fingerprint logon is enabled. Tried to uninstall Validity Sensor and then reinstall it, didn't worked.OS: Win7(x64)    Thank you in advance! Cheers,Thomas

In the meantime I found the solution:
I've upgraded the HP Client Security Manager (sp63509), opened the program, enroled my fingerprints, and checked "Windows Logon Security" at Home/Advanced Settings/ Security Features.
It's finally working, I'm able to log on with my fingerprints.
(Still, under Control Panel / Biometric Devices there are no items listed...)
    Cheers,
    Thomas

    Problem Description:
Yesterday I updated my laptop's BIOS to F 5A - latest available on HP Website. Since then I have lost the bluetooth functionality, which was wroking just fine prior to the update. Now the system doesn't find a bluetooth device.
    What I have already done:
    1. Switched back to previous versions of BIOS (available on HP Website coz I didn't note the BIOS version before I updated it). - That didn't work.
    2. Reseated the wireless card - Didn't work.
    3. Manually checked the connection of bluetooth module to the motherboard - Connection was fine but it still didn't work.
    4. Uninstalled the bluetooth driver and reinstalled it (HP integrated module WIDCOM) - still didn't work
    5. Installed HP Wireless Agent - Didn't work
    6. Installed HP Integrated module driver along with HP Wireless Agent - Didn't work
    7. Installed Ubuntu to check if its recognizing the device - Even its not recognizing the device which it used to do earlier.
    8. Sadly there's no BIOS setting in Setup which I can change to correct the bluetooth behaviour (Phoenix BIOS with limited interface).
After all the research, I am posting this because I am unable to find a sloution to this problem on my own. I request the members to please help.
    Uday

I got the bluetooth working. Had to dismantle the laptop and found that a small switch was loose.

  • Error message in Audition 2.0 when trying to burn a CD: no devices found

I am using Windows 7 and Adobe Audition 2.0.  on a new laptop (Asus).  When i try to burn a CD from the 'CD' workspace I get the error message 'no devices found'.  I have burned other CDs on this machine separately from Audition so i know the  Matsushita CD/DVD burner works.  How do I get Audition to recognize the burner device?  Thanks, Spintal

The one time this happened to me, it turned out it was the fault of a Windows update and doing a system restore back to the first state prior to that update fixed it.
From the number of times this crops up I suspect there are some other causes too--another thing I'd try is updated the drivers for the CD drive.

  • No volume control elements and/or devices found

Hi, I recently installed Arch Linux and I followed the tutorials on how to configure it. At this moment I have Gnome installed and it is working fine, I only have one problem.
Every time if I try to access volume control I get the following error:
"No volume control elements and/or devices found"
I'm relatively new to Linux so it might be me just being stupid(Maybe I just don't have the right packages installed) but I've searched the web and I didn't find anything that could help, I also searched this site but there are only a few things about sound problems. I think the problem is caused because Linux is not detecting my sound card (its an on board sound card) or maybe I have not given the command to detect it/activate it. In Google I've found that 'lsmod' and 'lspci' commands are for detecting drivers, so I executed those in my terminal and put them here, I hope this might help fixing my problem.

Gonna reinstall it, things usually go better the second time.
make sure u have adding the user to audio group in order to access sound device.
    gpasswd -a user audio
Yes, I think that was the problem. Anyways, I reinstalled Arch Linux and everything is working fine now.

  • ''No output devices found'' message on my Mac Pro with Lion... Any suggestions? What should i do to resolve the problem?

I turn on my mac without hearing the chime boot sound from Apple.. after that im always turning on my Motu (extermal soundcard firewire) i still got that message, by audio midi setup my Motu appears from some minutes and then goes away again.. The same time that my Motu appears i simply start a mp3 file to check if i got a sound but still no luck... Made all possible updates but still no sound.. I'm using Logic pro 9 and have lots of thing here to do.. Try also a hotline from Apple to call but im waiting like more than an hour and still no answer... Please any suggestions? I am afraid it can be a hardware problem
This problem came for the first time after i made an update in Avid Protools...
After that i tryed everything and still got no sound... Next step i FORMAT my Mac Pro.. Back everything UP and reinstall Lion and still '' NO OUTPUT DEVICES FOUND'', i performed a clean install.. Thats why i am afraid it can be a Hardware problem.. So, if anyone of you guys know something about it, please share your knowledge with me..
    Thanks in advance

Try a different user account and see if the problem persists.

  • Boot Camp partition moved to external:"No bootable device found"

I have just installed a new SSD, moved my old OSX partition to the new drive and am currently using the old hdd in an enclosure as an external hard drive.
I can access all my files on my old OSX partition and my bootcamp partition when connected to my laptop. However, when i try to boot from my old bootcamp partition i get the "No bootable device found -- insert boot disk and press any key" message. That is when i boot from Startup Disk and target the bootcamp partion.
When restarting my computer with the external harddrive connected and pressing the option key i only get "SSD" and "Recovery" as options, it does not recognize the external harddrive as a startup option at all.
Is there anything i can do to use my old boot camp partition again? It worked perfectly fine before being external to the computer.
My computer is a 2011 mbp with Mavericks, my boot camp patition is installed with windows 7.

Microsoft requires that the partition for Windows be on an internal disk. It will not see an external drive as bootable.

  • Biometric devices=Problem

HI, Last year in October I purchased an Pavilion dv6-6167cl, everything was just fine up until the last bios update, after that the integrated biometric device stopped working. When i go to device manager the device shows up and says it's working properly, however the light is not on, on the device. Also when i use HP Simple Pass (Version 5.3.7) it will only allow me to use my master password to login. I've tried all sorts of trouble shooting. but none have prevailed (which makes me sad because, I loved my fingerprint reader...)
Also when i go to control panel and look under biometric devices it says "Windows did not find any biometric devices on this computer. You might need to attach your device or install device drivers." and when i look in bios during the start-up, under "System Configuration" biometric devices is not listed.
i could really use some help here it would be greatly appreciated.

So...I went back and looked at my post...and thee were 31 people who looked at it...however...there were no ideas at least on how to fix it...I though that at least one person would at least have an idea about how to fix it... but it appeas that hp doesn't know what they're doing anymore.
