No Business Area on Tax segment of BSEG-GSBER since upgrade to 4.7

Hello everyone-
We upgraded our system in 2005 to 4.7 Since that time accounting
documents, BSEG entries that represent sales tax charged to the
customer does not have the Business Area filled in, ie. BSEG-GSBER is
blank for Tax lines. This causes a problem for us for reporting. We
need to tie the corresponding BSEG items for the tax line it pertains
to. Our reporting program has logic to tie together, but when the
pattern of the accounting documents is off, it causes discrepancies in
our reporting. Can anyone provide an alternative solution?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Select "system.log" from the file list. Enter "backupd" (without the quotes) in the String Matching text field. Post the messages from the last backup, beginning with "Starting standard backup."
Post the log text, please, not a screenshot. If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Do not post many repetitions of the same message.

    We have one Business Area for every company code. A substitution rule has been created to populate Business Area in Tax Line Items, while booking vendor invoice. The substitution rule has been defined as
    Prerequite
    Company Code = 1234 and GL = 1323232
    Substitution
    Business Area = 6668
    The system is working fine, when the Vendor Invoice is posted through FI. However, when the vendor invoice is generated through MIRO or MIR7, the Business Area is not substituted.
    In Table VWTYGB01, we have maintained BSEG-GSBER as a field allowed for substitution with Boolean Class 09.
    We have created the susbstitution rule for Text and Assignment also and the rules are working fine for all document posted through FI and MM

    Business Area is a sensitive field, agreed. However, the substitution rule is working fine for FI posted documents and the issue is in MM generated documents.

    Our business requirement is updation of BA in tax line items during MIRO transaction. To fulfill this requirement i have written a substitution with user exit. Business user enters BA in bktxt . In user exit iam passing bktxt field to bseg-gsber. But BA is not updating in tax line items. Here iam giving the code which i have written in my user exit. Pls guide me what to do aprt from this.

    Kindly need your help.
    We have configured Withholding type for payment posting.
    When posting document by using the F-53 Business Area for Withholding Tax is same with line item vendor.
    How to make Business Area for Withholding Tax same with line item payment (Cash/Bank) NOT with line item vendor ?
    Example :
    Issue :

          Bank (Business Area : 3000)
           Withholding Tax ( Business Area : 6100)
    Our Requirement :

    Our requirement is valid for Cross company code Transaction
    Here is the detail :
    Vendor   (Company Code : 6000; Business Area : 6100)
          Bank (Company Code : 3000; Business Area : 3000)
           Withholding Tax ( Company Code : 3000 ; Business Area : 3000)
    Above solution maybe can't be applied for cross company code transaction because the program only substitute business area not company code.

    The SAP System provides two separate standard functions for carrying out the activities stated above for balance sheet and P&L accounts.
    The basic prerequisite is to ensure that the business area balance sheet function is activated for the company codes in question in the IMG. This guarantees, among other things, that all master records for which it is relevant are linked to a business area; the data is then automatically posted to this business area.
    Since this is an elaborate topic, I am providing the SAP link, which is quite self explanatory.
    Lastly, SAP is no longer recommending business area functionality. It is preferring Profit Center accounting , which is now part of New GL functionality from version ECC6

    This ony happens on PCs that have 4.0.1 installed. I have a PC that has 3.1.6 and this error does not appear.
    I am using 4 profiles and the error appears with all 4 profiles.
    I copy the places.sqlite between the 4 profiles t kee the bookmarks consistent for all profiles.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

    My guess is the OP is using Logic Pro 8 and that version isn't compatible with Mavericks....(10.9.x)
    Only solution is to roll back to the previous configuration from backups... or start again from scratch installing OS X 10.8.5 or earlier... and LP8 (8.0.2 is the best version)
    Personally I would use OS X 10.6.8 and Logic Pro 8.0.2 as that was a very stable combination (If indeed, the OP has Logic Pro 8)

  • Tax amount line item with Business area in Billing Doc generating to A/cing

    Hi,
    While generating the Billing Doc, for the Tax amount line item , the Business area shd be populated. How this can be done? while  for the othter line items it is displaying but not for the tax amount line item.

    In ECC 6.0 with document splitting and new GL business area would be available in the general ledger view for tax postings. For earlier versions than ECC 6.0 use balance sheet adjustment program SAPF180 to populate business area for tax items.

    As we know that Business Area is not updated in the tax line items, In one our company code we have done BA adjustment through F.5D and F.5E in 2007, after that there are thousands of line items in the system without business areas, now my client wants a tallied business area trial balance from 2007 onwards or aleast to ensure that the tax line items should get business area assignments from hereafter,  and also recently we have created one more company code, Please help how do I ensure that all the tax line items and items with blank business areas get the business area postings. Is there any user exit or any work around available for this... At present we have only one GL for Inter business area clearing for all types of accounts (reconciliation, tax accounts) in OBXM.

    Hello,
    Are NewGL and document splitting active in your system? If yes, you should solve this problem with using splitting function.
    Otherwise, you can use business transaction event 00001120.
    I explained step by step how can you activate BTE 00001120. I give you message below.

    In this exit, you must update t_bsegsub-gsber field which t_bseg-buzid = 'T' for tax item.
    But you can not split tax line items in this exit. For example in invoice you have 2 or more business area, but tax line item doesn't create for each buiness area (If you don't use document splitting functon). So in this exit you can only assign a business area to tax line item which is automatically generate while posting FI document.

    in fs00 . we  set the additional account assignment for field like suppress req. entry,opt. entry..i want to know for which general ledger it will be required...?
    actually in our system for (vat input tax ) gl  business area it is not mandatory field ...or when i check the line items for this general ledger business area wise ...it displaying for all  business area...
    so tell me if i set it as req. field,then will it be right or not?

    Hi,
    To my understanding taxes are always posted without a business area. System makes transfer postings from tax account to business areas for the income and expense account. A balance sheet adjustment is carried out according to business area if 'Business Area Balance sheets' has been activated in company code global parameters(OBY6).
    When you post a document the system determines this document and notes for the adjustment. Documents noted during posting are calculated for the adjustment. The system calculates the adjustment according to the account assignments. Execute F.5D(programSAPF180A) reads the marked documents, calculates the necessary adjustment postings, and updates these in its own database tables. After that execute F.5E(program SAP F180) reads the adjustment posting tables and on this basis posts the accounting documents required.
    For example you posted on customer invoice:
    Customer A/c  Dr 1150(Accts Receivables)
    Revenue A/c1 Cr         600 (BA-1)
    Revenue A/c2 Cr         400 (BA-2)
    Tax A/c Cr                   150
    During the Balance Sheet Adjustment the system divides this tax entry by business area wise
    Tax A/c 90(BA-1)
    Tax A/c 60(BA-2)
    You cannot run balance sheet adjustment without activating the 'Business Area Balance Sheets' at company code global parameters.

    Please note the following.
    You have inheritance active for your document splitting. Please see same via customizing
    SPRO -> General ledger accounting (New) -> Business transactions ->Document splitting -> Activate document splitting(Please review the F1 help on the inheritance field).

    Addition, Please be aware that even with NewGL Document Split functionality active, the interface with MM is basically unchanged from previuos releases. As in previous release and described on note 199886, business area on tax account is always blank. if you want to see GSBER in entry view, you have to run SAPF180 as well.

    Could any one please help me in explaining what the difference between Segment & Business Area? And what does it mean by “We can create financial statements at any time for the Segment dimension. For this, you need to set up a zero balance setting for the Segment characteristic” can any one could please help me on this.
    And also please explaining what this Document Splitting is? How is it helpful? Please give an example in real time senior. I have already gone through Help document, please don’t suggest me that.

    Earlier in SAP we used to have very limited reporting hierarchies, in which business area is one like Company Code. But obviously in FI or CO either user/ partner/ management always interested in viewing the business on different entities in different forms of reports.
    So, with the newGL SAP has given a provenance to users to create their own reporting entities. So, with the newGL customers can generate balance sheets by almost any dimension by defining a SEGMENT, meaning:  cost center, plant, etc even you can define business area as a segment.
    For this purpose was create the SEGMENT entity. So that it helps customer in segment level reporting.
    We Can create financial statements means we can generate balance sheet or profit and loss statement on segment.
    For lay mans terms I can tell Business Area is on example of Segment. Hope it clarifies..
    In order to understand document split you should be familiar with New GL / Ledger accounting...
    Regarding Document Splitting: Consider following realtime example

    Basically the document split will distribute the money depending on your split method you have configured in SPRO.
    Don't confuse too much, it is very easy if you go step by step in SPRO -- especially Finanacial Accounting (new) configuaration.

  • Business Area not coming in FS10N layout.

    Dear SAP Friends,
    I am working in a client where "Document Splitting" was activated on the basis of "Business Area" from the 1st August,2008. In this client their is four business areas. When I am getting the balance sheet as per Business Area in F.01 every GL shown the amount as per business area & also a some of amount is shown under the not assigned head. Amount under the not assigned is total of document of having no business area.
    Now my client wants that all not assigned amount should be distributed as per the business area & not assigned amount will come to zero.The field of business area is "GSBER".
    Now for that I am testing it on development. I have selected on document having no business area and updated the table "BSEG" for filed "GSBER" for that business area manually through ABAP. When I am seeing the same  document under FB03 the system shows the Business Area correctly which I have given in the table. But when I see the General Ledger balance in FS10N (In layout selected business area column) the same document does not give business area in that business area column. But when I select it for details it shown the business area in that document.
    Now my issue is why this is happening ? or is their any another way to do this ?
    Because i have to update all of documents of before 1st, August 2008 with no business area .
    Please give any solution ASAP & for helpful answer points will be surely awarded.

    Hi,
    Touching a cluster table like BSEG thru ABAP is a tricky thing.  You would need to work out all linkages to other tables for the data you are touching, would suggest a where used for field business area and update all other tables relevant to the data, like BSI* and BSA*.
    For FS10N, the data is not read from BSEG but rather from the totals tables like GLT0.
