No certificate for identifier "iPhone Developer"

Hi,
I have a problem, although I successfully registered as a iPhone Developer I cannot test my applications on my iPod Touch. I get the build error: +no certificate for identifier "iPhone Developer"+...
When I first connected my iPod Touch to my Mac when I had opened Xcode, I got promted If I wanted to use it as a developing device. I clicked on "no", thinking I would be asked the next tme again but I was never again asked. How do I configure my iPod Touch so that I can develop on it?
The only relating certificate in my tool chain is called:
"+Apple Worldwide Developer Relations Certification Authority+"
But putting this in the info.plist file as "Any iPhone OS Device" doesn't help either, nor does my name do.
Thanx for any help!
cheers Sebus

Hi,
now after installing the beta 7, I get this message when I try to build on the iPodTouch:
"+No provisioned iPhone OS device is connected.+"
My iPod Touch is connected...
I know this is very basic but I want to start get going and not be held up at this stage...
thank you very much!

  • New SSL certificate for Exchange, iPhones won't accept without delete/recreate of account on phone.

Our Network Solutions security certificate was about to expire so we renewed it, however once it was installed on the Exchange 2007 server the phones would no longer connect.  How do you get the iPhones that are already connected to your Exchange server to recognize the new certificate?

Hi bb9193, this will not be no short-term solution, but you might consider using a MDM-solution. With MDM it is possible to deinstall and reinstall the Exchange profile over the air, so your users will not need to do more than just reenter their Exchange password.

  • SDK 3.0 : code signing error : more than one certificate for my profile ?!

    Hi all,
Since I installed the SDK3 with OS3.0, I'm not able to develop on the device because of a provisionning profile issue.
So, I've revoked all my certificates, created properly a new dev certificate, associated to a developer provisioning profile. Every-thing's fine at this step.
But in my app, when a assign this profile (also added in the iPhone), and I build, i get a code signing error which indicates that the associated certificate for the iPhone Developer: xxxx is more than once in my keychain !!??
I've checked the keychain and there is only ONE iphone certificate. So, i really don't understand !
I've redone this step few times, to be sure... But still the same issue !
    Any clue ?

    Same here.
I installed SDK 3.0 yesterday and was about to remove and re-install certificate today, until I found this thread.
SDK 3.0 seems to have problems with handling provisioning profiles. If you use Xcode in Japanese, the provisioning profiles are shown as "?" in the popup menu, while if you start Xcode in English, the correct provisioning profiles are selectable.
First, I had the "?" issue, then after I switched the language to English, I faced this "more than one certificate in the keychain" problem ...

  • Request for iPhone developer forum

There has been a recent influx of new iPhone developers in the developer forums. They often don't identify their problem as being specific to the iPhone. You have to look at what they are talking about and see that it is all iPhone stuff. Apparently the iPhone SDK is significantly different enough that answers to basic questions for MacOS X development are not correct for the iPhone SDK.
If there were an iPhone SDK forum they might be more inclined to put iPhone-specific questions in there.

I completely agree with the previous sentiments for an iPhone developer forum. Why?
I am part of the problem. I have come into the Apple development process "solely" to work on the iPhone. I know nothing about Mac OS X. Because of that I was astounded that the iPhone documentation was not "iPhone" but rather Xcode documentation. Yes I understand that there is a great deal of overlap BUT from my point of view it looks as though Apple was extremely lazy in just dumping all of their code and documentation on the iPhone developer. They need about 5 editors to weed out what is and is not iPhone. Just my two cents.

  • Error when activating my iPhone Developer Program membership

Ive just paid 99 dollars for my iphone developer program, and recieved an email containing the activation code. As you probably know, youre supposed to click on this activation-code and it links you to another site. But instead of activation I recieve this error-message on this site:
"We are unable to activate your iPhone Developer Program membership because we are unable to successfully verify your identity. Please contact us and reference Enrollment ID# XXXXXXXXXX for further assistance."
There was no problem verifying my identity when I paid for it. How come thats an issue now?
Since people seem to have to wait for enormous periods of time to get even the simplest questions answered by Apple regarding the Dev Program, I thought I post this here to see if someone else have come across this, and what to do about it (except for waiting indefinitely).

Mine got activated after a few days with no need for further information from me so if you get that same message you probably don't need to worry.

  • Experienced Graphic Artist looking to partner with an iPhone Developer

I'm not sure if it's OK to post this here, but I'm searching for an iPhone Developer to partner with and create a new App whether it be a game or a tool. This is not a paid gig but it's something we can work on together and possible market and share the revenue. I have some great ideas to share.
About me: I'm an experienced Graphic Designer with 10 years of industry work under my belt. I've worked mostly in Web but also on small Flash games, broadcast TV shows and a lot of Web-based applications for very well known international clients like Coke, Bell and major Banks and Airlines. I own a small Web company and run a popular video game site too.
I'm looking for someone who's passionate about the iPhone's technology (and iPod Touch) who wants to work together on a small interactive application together.
If you're interested you can message me and I can show you my past work.
    cheers,
    Shane

  • When is Apple going to open up the iPhone Developer Program?

I signed up for the iPhone Developer Program almost as soon as one could sign up for it. I was one of the unlucky many who got the "you are not important enough to let into the Developer Program" e-mail. That was months ago when the rumor was that they would be opening it up around the time of the WWDC. Well, it is now WWDC time. Is there any more info on this?
Why don't I use the iPhone Simulator? The iPhone Simulator does not simulate the accelerometer very well (i.e., it does not simulate it at all) and the accelerometer is important for my app. I can't even tell if my app is feasible without running some test code so that I can get a real world sense of how well the accelerometer works.
Between this and the significant issues that I am having with my MBP and Apple's lack of response, I am starting to feel that I picked a bad time to start doing Apple development.

Excuse me, but Apple clearly has decided that some application developers are more important than others. The App Store is opening up next month and I don't think they will be selling apps that haven't been QA'ed on real devices. Oh, I get it. All of the big name mobile software vendors that Apple wants to display in their App Store just happened to get randomly selected.
"Apple has no way of knowing who has real apps ..." Well, I told them that I did. I even told them that it uses the accelerometers, so the simulator wouldn't help.
You note that Apple says that there are 21k developers in a holding pattern. What is it about the iPhone Developer Program that stops Apple from just taking people's money and issuing them cookies (or whatever) that allows the downloaded SDK to load apps on real devices? Inviting people over to your house to install your app on their iPhone/iPod touch is not a very good distribution model; the App Store is needed for distribution. The limiting factor is the gatekeeper for the App Store, not a SDK that can run code on real devices. So, why don't they freely distribute a SDK that can run code on real devices?
After telling the world "look, a SDK for the iPhone" months ago, why can't Apple even give a date to 21k people who took the time to sign up for the Program when they might be able to run their apps on real hardware?
I want to do things the right way (through Apple's SDK) and I really don't like the idea of jailbreaking, but right now that seems like the only option that I have to proceed with my app development.

  • Problems installing Xcode for building iPhone applications

Just got a mac mini today for building iphone applications. I'm new to macs.
Downloaded the iPhone SDK. Installed it. But I saw there are a lot of
packages. Do I need to install them all? I've installed the iPhone ones.
When I launch Xcode I get the 'Welcome to Xcode 3.1', which just looks like
a lot of tutorials. How do I run the Xcode application to build iPhone apps?
    Cheers,
    John.

you just install XCode and it will install ALL packages, the packages that you see are to be installed one by one for expert users or users that want to have a the newest packages.
Remember: Install the iPhone SDK 2.2
you just go to menu and click File > New Project > iPhone and choose the type of project for the iPhone that you want to use, WebApp, UIApp, etc ...
because you are new to the MAC world and probably never used Objective-C in your live, it is good to start somewhere first, buy a good book of the subject, start with the language (Objective-C) them learn about the framework (Cocoa Touch) and then read all about XCode.
In the meanwhile you can check several websites to start knowing what you going to be able to do one day, here are some examples:
    - Writing your first iPhone application (payed movies, first for free)
    - iPhone Developer Central
    - Apps Amuck
    - iPhone SDK Articles
remember that you will need to apply to the iPhone Developer Program in order to submit your SDK Apps to the Apple AppStore.
Updated: You can find several movies on YouTube on how to start building apps to the iPhone, but the most seams to do a bad job cause they are screen casting the entire desktop rather the area that we need, so text will be unreadable on such dimensions.

  • Accepted as iPhone Developer Paid No Certificates?

    Guys,
    I'm looking for some assistance.
I received the acceptance email and paid my $99. A confirmation email soon followed with my purchase information.
This email contained a link to the Apple Store (where I can see that I have purchased the iPhone Developer Program) but there is no link to download the Certificates?
No that i've paid how can I get my SDK apps on to my device?
    Thanks

    Dam-n you ImmersiveGamez
I paid my $99 about 35 hours ago and i'm still waiting. (I paid through the Apple UK site, if that makes a difference).
I believe from reading on this site that i'm waiting for either an email from Apple with the next steps or my Developer webpage to be updated.
I just want to test my app on a device!

  • IPhone Development / Mobile Provision certificate

Hi I'm trying to set up my ipod touch to start testing my apps on it. I'm following the instructions from the portal but when i load the provisioning certificate into the organizer I get the " A Valid Signing Identity Matching This Profile Could Not Be Found On Your Keychain" alert.
Why does this alert occur and how do I rectify it.
    Thanks

Hi New Developer, and welcome to the Dev Forum!
Your Development Certificate and/or Private Key may not be installed correctly. As a first step I would recommend returning to the Portal and reviewing the instructions under Certificates->How To.
Check under Certificates->Development to see if you have a valid Certificate. Also check your keychain by opening the Keychain Access app (in the Applications->Utilities folder). Select "login" from the upper-left Keychains panel, and "Certificates" from the lower-left Category panel. Make sure something like "iPhone Developer: your name" is listed in the right-center table. You should also find a listing for an "Apple Worldwide Developer Relations" certificate. Next select "Keys" from the Category panel and see if a private key is listed with the same name found in your certificate.
If you don't find one or more of the above items, repeat all of the How To instructions.
    Hope that helps!
    \- Ray

  • How do I install a Root Certificate on my Iphone for an email account?

I use an email account requiring a root certificate to be installed on my phone. I have this on my PC and need to know how to actually import the certificate to my iPhone. I go through the normal setup with the account which shows the correct port settings, however, without the certificate, every time I try getting emails, it fails to connect with the server. Any ideas??

Thanks for the tip. I emailed the certificate to my other email account on my iPhone, but when I tried to open the attached certificate I got a message - "Invalid Profile - Profile format not recognized."
Any other ideas. I may have to just set up another sure email account with another server.

You don't need an app. You need couple's counseling. I believe what you want to do may also be illegal in many jurisdictions.
