No internet connectivity WIN XP Pro after Upgrading Fusion 3.0.1. (215242)

Thanks for the help in advance
I have Network Adapter settings at Bridged (autodetect). Have Connected and Disconnnected Network Adapter from icon tray, host OS, and Setting menu. No luck with ipconfig release/renew. Firefox is defaulting to -> File -> Work offline. IE 6.0 message "The page cannot be displayed." Have rebooted OSX 10.6, Shut down WIN XP Pro from Start menu. Suspended VM. Pinged TCP/IP -- nothing back
Snow Leopard is just fine -- has connectivity.
This is a BRAND NEW problem since Fusion upgrade. Their Tech Support is closed. My project deadline, of course, is tomorrow. I stopped using Parallels when their Philippines-based Tech Support was closed due to flooding, and I switched to VM. I was happy until now.
Thanks a second time for any help offered!

I have learned in the meanwhile that indeed it is my zoneAlarm's Firewall issue and even discovered that they have a wrong design, not just a "bug" where one can't override their blocking and that they are working on it right now. But on the other hand, and regardless of their problems, it is not so nice that some programmer in Mozilla decided to change Firefox Add-ons interface, in all probability for no good enough reason or, that the design of that interface was conceptually poor in the first place. An interface, especially to an external world should be crafted with particular care. In short, programming is too serious of a business to be left for programmers...

  • Problem with connecting to free wifi after upgrading to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8

    Hi
I had problems with connecting to free Wifi after upgrading my PC(Notebook) to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8. As I travel a lot within europe, I am used to being able to connect to Free Wifi(those that dont need a key or password to enter) but soon after downloading
Windows 8.1 I almost never was able to do this. I'd always get «LIMITED» even though the signal was strong. This was so fustrating,so much so that I reset my PC to clear it of Windows 8.1 and am now back to Windows 8.This is a shame because I was really liking
using Windows 8.1 and if not for this problem(which is a big one) I'd still be using it. If I download Windows 8.1 again from the Windows store what is the probability that I'll have the same problems?
    Thanks Portozzygirl

  • Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan

Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan through Adobe, although Scanner says its combatible with Windows 8. Cannot reinstall drivers because Brother claims they're built-in. Help!

    1. Re: Reinstalled Adobe Acrobat XI Pro after upgrading to windows 8.1 and now cannot scan

I am using a Brother MFC 8460N and on Brother's site it says its compatible with win 8.1 and that the driver is already installed. When I try to scan I am told there is no preset (there was with win 7 though) and I have to "custom scan." When I try that, I hear a sound as if the printer is trying to scan, but the feeder can't pull the paper through. I then get a blank .pdf as my scan. Thanks for your advice. I will try that.

can't connect ipad to wifi after upgrading to ios6

    Additional things to try.
Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi. (This is probably not practical in your situation.)
On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.

  • Retina macbook pro with thunderbolt ethernet adaptor drops internet connection on open apps after waking

I recently started using a thunderbolt ethernet adaptor and every time my comuter wakes from sleep, all the apps that were open no longer use the internet connection.  I have to restart each one of them for them to be able to use the present internet connection. any ideas?

So I've noticed similar behaviour on my Macbook Air. It's a slightly different set of kit, since it's connected to a Belkin Thunderbolt Express Dock (http://www.belkin.com/uk/p/P-F4U055/). I'm on my second one of these because first one went back because it kept on dropping the internet connection (sounds familiar?) - and it *might* have been occurring when waking the system from sleep (I didn't make a mental note).
Anyway the replacement was working perfectly, until today - when it's started to drop it's internet connection again, and this time I'm pretty certain that it's related to waking from sleep. The main difference now is that I *just* upgraded to Mavericks, and I wonder if the sleep problem has reared its ugly head again in the latest version of MacOS?
All in all I have to say I'm pretty disappointed with the reliability of thunderbolt & the Belkin Dock thingie. Although it should be said that a single lead from my Macbook Air to the Express Dock is simultaneously carrying: video (1920x1200), Firewire800, 3xUSB3, gigabit ethernet and sound, so I'm not that surprised this technology is prone to the odd glitch, and the cables get really warm too!
It would be great to have some solid information from Apple/Belkin about this.

  • Lightroom CC stuttering when no internet connection on Surface pro 3, is there a fix?

    Hello,
In order to see if the creative cloud for photography is suitable for my need I just downloaded the Lightroom CC (6) free test version.
I used to work previously on Lightroom 5.7.1 retail version (which is working perfectly) on my Surface pro 3 (i5 8gb ram).
Problem is, as soon I launch Lightroom CC with the WIFI disabled for battery saving on mobility or just no internet access, Lightroom CC is unusable due to  micro-stuttering every 20-30 sec approx.  Browsing the catalog, adjusting pictures, everything in fact.
I tried to uncheck the GPU setting as I see in different forums, but no differences.
After coming back at home, and as soon as I connect the WIFI, relaunch Lightoom CC. Everything runs smoothly...
I tried again the disable WIFI, restart Lightroom CC, stutters again from start.
Made 10 attempts of each, and every time I have an internet connection with wifi, everything runs smooth without stuttering, and every time I start the application without internet connection Lightroom do microfreeze (other apps runs fine, it's just LR CC).
Any ideas, cause for me this is completely a No-GO because I will not do tethering with my phone every time I want to use LR.
    Many thanks.
    Anthony.

    Hi, no clues?
Ok it seems  when I logout my adobe account id from lightroom CC (help => logout), LR is working smoothly without internet connect.
Is this normal that the application freeze for few seconds on a multicore device when I am logged, because it's trying to do account sync (none of my collections are sync by the way) or by doing licence checks on a free trial version?
    Is logout the only solution?
    Many thanks.

  • Sharing internet connection from MacBook Pro to iMac G3

My goal here is to connect my iMac G3 (that I just got) to my cable internet connection. However, there are some hurdles in doing so. On the other side of my house lies my modem. It's connected to a D-Link wireless router to give my PC, Xbox 360, Wii and MacBook Pro internet all at the same time. It's too far to drag an ethernet cable, and the iMac G3 doesn't have an AirPort card (and $99 for a used wireless b adapter is ridiculous).
From what I've gathered online, OS X can share it's internet connection with another Mac via FireWire, ethernet or AirPort. AirPort is out of the question since that's how my MacBook Pro connects to the net, and since the iMac G3 doesn't have an AirPort card. I don't have anything that uses FireWire, so othe port on both machines is free, but I also don't have a cable to connect the two. I do, however, have a few spare ethernet cables, so I'd like to get this setup using them.
Thing is, I can't get it to work. Simply enabling internet sharing in System Preferences does diddly squat, and no connection is found with Network Utility on the iMac. What I'd really like here is for someone to either instruct me on how to get this to work, or point me in the direction of such an article. I haven't been able to find anything with Google so far...
Now, my MacBook Pro obvioously runs 10.4.9 with all the updates. The iMac G3, however, is running 10.3.5 at the moment. While I will be upgrading it to tiger in the near future, I kinda wanted to play around with Internet Expplorer before doing so. Being new to the Mac and all (the MBP is my first Mac), I've never used Internet Exporer on the Mac -- or 10.3 at all really, for that matter. So if it can be done, I'd like to do this with 10.3 still on the iMac, though I could upgrade it to tiger if I HAD to.
Should it matter, the iMac G3 is a 400MHz indigo unit with 256MB RAM and a 10GB HDD. It's the summer '00 model. The MacBook Pro is a revision A system with a 1.83GHz Core Duo inside. More detailed specs can be found within my profile on here, I believe.
Sorry for such a long winded post...

Lost me there... is it Ethernet cables you're using even though it's too far? Or What?

  • Laptop internet connection no longer works after adding Time Capsule to network

The other day I was setting up my Time Capsule for the first time at my new apartment (after having it in a box for months). I've got internet access through my apartment, so I haven't needed to use it as a router like I did the last time I used it. Also, the router is in another tenant's room. So I opened Airport Utility and adjusted the settings to add the Time Capsule to the network. After doing this, my laptop has lost its Internet connection. I can still connect to the network and my iPad has had no issues connecting to the same network and using the Internet, but the Internet won't work on my MacBook Pro (2006 model).
Since then, I've plugged an ethernet cable between my laptop and Time Capsule so I could find it on Airport Utility and change its settings to connect to the laptop via Ethernet. Also, I called my landlord and got the router reset.
I know the Time Capsule/Airport Utility is involved because the Internet connection died as soon as I tried adding my Time Capsule to the network.
    Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem.  It worked fine (connecting my iOS devices to my macbook pro using internet sharing) until Lion.  Then it all went to ****.

  • Internet conection (3G) not working after upgrading to iOS 6.0.1

After upgrading my iPhone 3GS to iOS 6.0.1 my internet connection stopped working, not even the 'edge' signal is working. Can I downgrade to iOS 6.0 in iTunes? If I restore the iPhone in iTunes it will go to the older version of iOS (factory default)?

    We're all users like yourself.
If you want to talk to someone at Apple, go to an Apple store or call 800-My-Apple.
Have you tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?
What about basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide which is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new)?
Consider 6.0.1 has been out for several weeks, it's highly unlikely the issue is with 6.0.1 and more likely it is the device, the SIM, the carrier, or the network.

  • Not connecting to CDDB server after upgrading to 7.7

This is the error message I get when trying to connect to iTunes store and even to get CD track names.
"Unable to connect to the CDDB server. The network connections timed out."
I have an internet connection and can browse without any problems. This occurred after I upgraded my iTunes software to the 7.7 version. I have tried most all possible solutions I have found online and still no success. I've tried allowing iTunes to work with the firewall, registering with Gracenote CDDB server, flushing the DNS settings, reinstalling iTunes, even tried to download an older version but then it does not recognize my iTunes library. I have restarted my computer multiple times over a span of 24 hours. I don't know what to do next. I'm trying to get more music for my ipod as I'm leaving for a trip soon.
    Please help!
    Nina

Are you running any of Symantec's (Norton) or McAfee's Internet security products or anything similar, or an antivirus/antispyware application? There have been reports that some such utilities treat an upgrade to iTunes as a new application and can block the application from connecting to the various services. So you have to go in and reset the utility to allow iTunes. The same thing can happen if you upgrade the security product (this has particularly been a problem with recent McAfee upgrades).
Check the settings for your utility and if necessary remove and re-enable the exception for iTunes (consult your utility's documentation for the appropriate procedure).
    Hope this helps.

  • Internet sharing no more working after upgrading to 10.5.6

With my early 2008 MacPro, I used to share my internet connection for my old iMacDV 400 (under MacOS 10.3.9).
All the network and sharing settings were fine prior to the upgrade to 10.5.6.
But after upgrading my MacPro to 10.5.6 I am no more able to browse the web from my iMacDV.
I checked on network setting on my iMacDV and thing looks fine, saying that machine is connected.
On the MacPro side, the network and internet sharing settings looks fine also. The firewall log is not showing any rejection of my iMacDV.
Did someone knows if some security fixes in 10.5.6 require to have additional settings in order to be able to share internet connection ?
    Thanks in advance

In fact it seems that the installation of 10.5.6 was not completly done (some reboot were necessary).
I also repair permissions, and things get back to normal, network sharing working fine again.
    Best regards
