No matter the settings, I can't get password to work in setting up tbird using gmail!

Trying to setup tbird. password is correct but cannot get the imap server to accept. no firewall anywhere. help!

I tried going to this site: http://tones.wolfram.com/ and using the generate tone application, but whenever I click on the play button in Safari nothing happens. When I try and click on the play button in chrome a yellow alert bar opens up at the top of the screen telling me to install quicktime player. I have installed both quicktime X and quicktime 7 with no results. I am able to download the generated midi files on a PC, transfer them to this mac, and play them with quicktime 7 but I can't seem to get anything to play while I am in the web application itself.
The files you refer to are really MIDI files. As discussed over the weekend, "real" MIDI files do not appear to be supported by the browser QT plug-in software or QT X player app any longer. Therefore, the files do not play in a browser which accesses a web page programmed/defaulted to call the QT browser plug-in for playback. On the other hand, MIDI playback is still supported by the QT 7 player app if installed on your system. Thus, MIDI files downloaded to your local hard drive can be played locally on your system. In fact, if you try to play the MIDI file using QT X and QT 7 is available, then the QT X player should automatically ask you if you want the file to be played by the QT 7 player.
The same also currently holds true for WMA Pro encoded MIDI files as far as browser playback is concerned. However, WMA Pro encoded MIDI content can be played using either the QT X or QT 7 player apps, but only if one of the Flip4Mac codec packages is installed on your system AND only if you change the ".mid" file extension to ".wma" so that the player can associate the file container with the correct playback codec component.

Tried both ways in the Wiki, still can't get network printing work

I have tried both the client and server ways following the Wiki, still could not get network printing work.
For the first way, I tried to put either the host name or the ip address (starting with 192) of the remote printer into /etc/cups/client.conf. But both Okular and Evince failed to see the printer in the dialog.
For the second way, with cups-browsed running, it only managed to discover printers in my local network (ip starting with 137) which I have no access. I tried to manually add the printer using its ip, but it still did not work.
What can I do? I have spent hours trying to work it out but failed. I would appreciate a lot your help. Thanks.

I just did an upgrade to the latest version (3.6.15) and after installation and restart of the computer I can"t get Firefox to work. Not sure if this a Firefox problem or something in Windows XP. Can any one help?

Received notice of a new version of Firefox and clicked to receive it. It downloaded and I did the install. After restarting the computer I could not get Firefox to open. Tried to reinstall again and had the same results.

Call id on TV, feature is on the box but can't get it to work, at least a NY issue...

I was told a bunch of things from a bunch of places..
Story 1: source: some ad I read) Call-id on TV needs either digital voice or a regular fios pots phone + fios internet. I have the latter & the feature does show up on the box but when I try to enable it, I get an error that I need the call id feature on my phone to make it work.
Story 2, source: fios support 12/18/09) I hear that the feature is currently only available to customers with Digital Voice & it looks, to him, like its available in NY. He advised me to contact support later this morning (when they start as it is currently about 4am) & see if I can change the service over to digital voice, he advised me he thinks it is the same if not cheaper. He said it will require the replacement of the ONT.
Questions:
1)
Do I need digital voice to make this feature work?
Either way, is this service available in NY?
Does it cost more then the fios standard phone, is there an additional fee for a service call or to have a replacement ONT installed?
2)
If I don't need it, when will it be available for regular pots phone customers in NY?
Otherwise, it should be understood that the feature doesn't work at all in NY; I mean, it is in the list for the settop box but it is unable to be turned on. I know this cause I have seen posts on another forum of people from at least NY, complaining they have the same problem I have.

It is normal for the box to start showing the option before it's actually live.
You won't need any service call or change of equipment. it will just start working when it's live.
From that thread some areas of NY have it. Verizon doesn't announce schedules on anything too much so you are highly unlikely to get an answer to "when".

Has anyone been able to set up email for other services? I would like to link to a GoDaddy account. Have all the information but can't get it to work.

I have entered the information from GoDaddy under manual setup and the mail app tells me it cannot connect to the server. It does connect to a gmail account, but that is not helpful. I was wondering if anyone has tried linking to GoDaddy or other account manually and what additional steps it takes.

Actually, I was able to connect to an IMAP account from (German mail provider) posteo.de without problems. Not so with FastMail.fm, which is a much bigger service provider than posteo.de, and also pretty much IMAP standard compliant.
Are there different IMAP configurations (all folders on the same level vs. all folders as subfolders of INBOX) that can influence this? And what can be done to connect FastMail to Firefox OS?

I work for Digital Insight, the digital banking vendor that your bank works with to provide you with access to FinanceWorks. Just to be sure, are you using Safari as your web browser when trying to access FinanceWorks? If so, the upgrade to Yosemite likely changed your browser settings in Safari, specifically for cookie handling. The easiest work around is to go to the “Manage Money” tab in your Online Banking, control-click one of the FinanceWorks options (Account Overview or Trends), and choose to open in a new tab. From then on (until you clear your browser history or cookies), FinanceWorks should work normally within the tab.
Also of note, Digital Insight was divested by Intuit in 2013 and is now owned by NCR.

Can't get VPN to work on RV220W

I am a home office user who bought a RV220W router for the speed advertised on smallnetbuilder. I am trying to set up the VPN but can't get it to work with the Quick VPN client. I am using dyndns to manage the dynamic IP and have entered that into the setup noted below. I am not sure this will help but make sure the following is set correctly:
Currently VPN is somewhat broken on all versions of firmware of the RV220W including beta where VPN will ONLY negotiate on 443. If you are port forwarding 443 to a server or something else it will fail. You must allow the VPN to authenticate on 443. The router SHOULD be able to connect on 60443 as indicated on the QUICKVPN software however it doesn't this has been confirmed by a CISCO engineeer I have been speaking with regarding my VPN woes. Currently there is NO ETA on this fix.
But since you didn't mention if your 443 ports were being routed elsewhere I figured i would lay out that information here incase you where. Also I strongly recommend contacting Cisco Support for the beta firmware it makes the RV220W much better.
Also the reason for the update to the beta firmware it resolves the hair pinning problem which could also lead to VPN issues.

You are making some progress with setup of wireless network. Apparently there is reliability problem with the wireless connection. Perhaps you want to refer to following Apple support documents and start tweaking parameters in the router to improve the reliability. I used to have third-party routers such as Belkin and Netgear but switched to Apple Airport routers (Time Capsule then Airport Extreme for now) because of incompatibility issues whenever Apple upgrade Mac OS X. But since Apple develops Airplay protocol as alternative to Bluetooth for wireless audio/video streaming (with much better bandwidth) and must be deployed in any wireless network, there is no reason third-party routers not working for Airplay protocol.

You need a computer with iTunes and an internet connection

- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
