No sender/subject/content emails - is this related to OS 4.0?

I see some older posts from users that were receiving emails on their phones (but not computers) with no sender, subject, or content and an unusual date of either 12/31/69 or 12/31/00. I just developed this problem last night on a 'brand new' iPhone 3G running OS 4.0. It wasn't my choice to have the latest OS, but my 3G crashed and Apple replaced it under warranty. They were not able to provide me with a phone without putting 4.0 on it - I was very reluctant to use the new OS on the older phone based on horror stories from friends. However, it was that or no phone.
When I left the store, I set up my mobileme syncing for mail, contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and notes. I noticed the issues immediately. Text messages were very slow to send, typing in general was very delayed, email was sluggish. A few hours after I was handed my new phone I stopped receiving email. Anything that came in after this mysterious email (which could not be deleted by the way), would only show up on the computer and not on the phone. However, I would get an indication from the phone that I had new mail and the badge would change to reflect the correct number of emails. I have tried turning the phone off. I have also tried removing my email account, then turning off the phone, turning it back on and re-entering the MM account info. It solves the problem temporarily and then one of those bogus emails comes into the box and game over.
I don't have time to go back to the apple store until Monday. I could call Apple care...but my guess is that the underlying problem is that OS4.0 is not fully compatible with the 3G phone. Can anyone comment on that or my problem in general? PS I'm not financially ready to upgrade to iPhone 4.

I too have had this problem on and off. Again today i got several NS/NS messages. After reading a few o the threads, I tried going in to Settings/Mail... and turning off Mobile ME mail. The messages immediately went away and were replaced by non-Mobile me mail messages. When I went back in and turned ON Mobile Me mail, the NS/NS messages did NOT return. I suspect the issue has something to do with Mobile Me. I did all of this without closing any multitasking apps BTW.

Unable to send web content emails from mail as web page since upgrading to the new OS X 10.9

I am no longer able to send web content emails from mail as web page. The images / layout no longer transmit. This started when I upgraded to the new OS X 10.9. The emails appear correctly in the orginal message prior to sending but once they are sent all the images and layout are removed. The sent message folder shows the emails in the changed versions vs what the draft showed prior to sending. If the webpage is only an image my final sent message will only show an empty box with an question mark.

I cannot email an article from my home page or something found elsewhere on the web by right clicking and selecting "send link". I also try "File, Send Link" without success. How can I fix this problem? I have never had this problem until a couple of months ago. Thanks.

Can't send or receive email from one account

Just bought the iPod Touch last week. Set up Hotmail account with no problems. However my MacDialup.com account (used to be dial up, but is DSL now) won't work at all. They aren't set up to use SSL, so I turned that off after the iPod automatically tried it. I tried IMAP and POP, tried changing incoming server port number from defalt 143 to 110, triple checked spelling on every single entry including password. Tried calling my ISP tech support and talked to a tech who owns an iPhone and lives in the bay area, but he couldn't figure it out. I tried deleting the MacDialup account then syncing the Touch to my iTunes on my MacBook Pro (which has no problem sending or receiving email from this same account) and had the email settings imported from the MacBook Pro - still no luck. Tomorrow I'll try bringing both my MacBook Pro and iPod Touch into the Genious Bar. Maybe they can figure it out.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Where does this garbled reply appear - on your device? Recipients device? On a computer?
When you are typing your email, you are able to see it in Chinese?

I have no problem connecting to the Internet but I cannot send or receive email on my iPod

I can connect to the Internet on my iPod and do all it is supposed to do but cannot send or receive email. This only happened 2 days ago. What might be the problem?

When I hit "send" it refuses, saying the email I just wrote is "spam"; it is NOT, I need it to send, how do I correct this problem?

Not every time, but often, the program thinks my own email, that I just wrote, is spam. Often it is a reply to an email sent to me and sometimes, if they have an image in the signature line, and I delete their image from my reply, it will send fine (I can leave the rest of what they wrote, and only delete the signature line image). Or sometimes, if I end the first attempt and try a new email or a new reply, then it does work...
But sometimes, nothing I do will convince the program that my OWN email I wish to send is NOT spam! The person I am sending it to is EXPECTING it and waiting for it!! Why won't it send? Why does it think I am sending spam?!
I have looked at my server settings, but I have no idea what this would be under.
How do I correct this? I NEVER send spam, I need this problem solved so that it NEVER happens again. Thank you for any help.

I have tried changing the subject line, retyping the message, opening a new message and sending it that way... nothing is working.
This is often to people I have already (successfully) sent messages to in the past, people who are already in my address book, and people I am replying to. Also, people I am sending to for the first time, or this is my first reply to an email they have sent to me for the first time. Some emails are personal, some business related.
This has happened in the past intermittently (usually with replies to an email that has a picture in the original signature line; I delete the picture and then make my reply, usually that corrected the problem) but now it is happening to almost every email I try to send (and deleting the picture, in those emails, no longer works). Since last week, it's gotten worse. I have only been able to send a few emails, most have been refused as "spam". All today every email I have tried to send has been refused.

create a workflow with SharePoint Designer that sends an email when an item is created.
Or edit the list form with InfoPath and create a special email view. Include all the fields you want to send in the email. Then create a data connection to submit to email and configure who it is sent to and what the subject line is based on the form values.
Use a button to submit the form and add a rule to submit the form data, then switch to the email view, submit to the email connection and then close the form.
This way, the recipient will see the exact form you defined in InfoPath in the email view.

and one came in today at 8:34pm (This last one has a "2" next to it which may indicate there are two of them?)
There is no trash icon on the screen and there doesn't appear to be ny way to delete them.

I encounter a strange case that an email with simplified chinese characters and traditional chinese characters in it's subject and content, when I use the message.getSubject() to get the email subject, it returns me with disorder characters. The email's subject is sent out encoded using GB2312 even it contains GBK characters. I try to send email of this case to gmail, and it display well. How can I deal this case?

Use the getHeader method to get the raw value of the Subject header,
then write your own code to scan the subject, find the encoded parts,
and decode the encoded parts, substituting the charsets you know the

Restating my issue / question...
When I send email from this iMac, there is a string of characters assigned. The characters are all the "alpha numeric" characters on the QWERTY key board. This only occurs when email is sent from this iMac. The issue does not manifest when using any other lap top or computer.
Hence, I have ruled out the issue is a yahoo mail matter.
Again, I can access the Yahoo mail account form multiple devices and send email without unintended assignment of character strings, but when I send wmail using this iMac, the issue happens everytime.
Characters are stacked verticaly in a column. It looks as if all characters (except function keys) are included in the string.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.

Email alerts based on Sender/Subject/Email account

The one thing that keeps me from switching to an iPhone is that the iPhone apparently has no facility to sound different alerts for incoming emails based on email sender/subject or the account that the email arrived in (and possibly also importance flags).
On my Nokia N97 the ProfiMail IMAP client supports this, and it is important as I can just from the sound determine if the email is something I need to look at immediately, or can ignore for a while.
I know there is a MailTunes service, but that requires all mail to be forwarded to a service somewhere in the cloud, which is a no-no for several reasons, including privacy/confidentiality concerns and reliability concerns.

"Cannot send email from this device"?

I recently purchased the Easy Release App from the ITunes store and when I try to email the release to my email address it says "Cannot send email from this device". Is it the app that is preventing the sending or is it something to do with the iPod? I've tried sending an email from the iPod to see and it is sent fine from the iPod but the app still won't send from the iPod.
Has this ever happened to someone else? Do I have to change settings on my iPod?

I had the same problem. You have to go into Settings in your ipod touch, scroll down and find "mail, contacts, calendars." Set up your email in there. It will give you a list I.e. yahoo, hotmail, gmail. After you've dont that you'll be able to sent the model release.

Thank you for heading me in the right direction. I reset my Mail account for Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net:(customer ID)@att.net (instead of smtp.att.yahoo.com, per Apple's online troubleshooting information). I'm not sure what "(Offline)" means when it appears at the end of my Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)?? In the Advanced box I clicked on "Use custom port: 465" and checked "Use Secure Sockets Layer." Authentication: Password; I have correct User Name and Password put in. After doing all this, when I try to send emails again today, they go directly to the Outbox and sit there.
What's curious is that my first sent email this morning did go out using the Outgoing Mail Server, smtp.att.yahoo.com: (customer ID)@att.net(Offline) but subsequent emails I tried to send with this server were rejected with the message: "Cannot send message using the server smtp.att.yahoo.com (etc.). The SMTP server doesn't support TLS(SSL) on port 587. Verify your account settings and try again." That's when I tried resetting my Outgoing Mail Server to outbound.att.net (etc.), as mentioned above, and was unsuccessful in sending out any further emails.
