hi i got a 5th gen ipod classic, today  no sound will come out of it (headphone or dock) i tried to reboot it but that did not do any thing, has any one got any ideals what to do.
    thanks

I have one doing that.  I suddenly had audio quit.  Everything else checked out and works just no audio.  Tried everything and by chance I found that if I squeeze lower right hand side of case audio starts.  Had a shop check it and found nothing wrong with audio cable but think it may be logic board.  Found a forum and it seems that apple is aware of this issue.  Here is the link to the forum I am in the process of trying to get mine fixed or replaced.  Hope this helps you somewhat.  http://forums.macnn.com/103/ipod-iphone-and-ipad/351485/no-sound-ipod/

No. You have to get those games from the app store. Some are free, some are paid.

  • High screeching sound, ipod won't work

I've been having this problem with my 30GB video ipod for the last bit. It doesn't turn on and when i plug it in the screen flickers and a high pitched squeling sound starts from it. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do. I've tried all the steps that the website offers with the "5 r's" but any other feed back would be most welcome. Thanks

  • No Sound iPod fifth generation

I have a 30GB fifth generation classic iPod. I was having the 'no sound' issue, that many others have been experiencing. Through a community thread, I noticed that Apple was replacing the iPods under warranty even though the warranty period had expired. I called support and was informed that I was out of luck. Then I requested a supervisor. I was connected and she informed me that there was an investigation and Apple determined that it was not a manufacture's defect. Therefore, Apple was no longer providing free replacements. She then went on to state that I could repair or recycle. Although my iPod lasted 4 1/2 years, why would I want to repair or recycle (purchase) another like product with questionable reliability and a known shelf life. !@#$%! Apple. I went to the hardware store and purchased an after market repair clamp. It makes carrying the iPod in your pocket a *****, but what the ****. I also was trying to upload a picture of the piece of crap with the clamp installed, but this page would freeze and I would lose my text.

I would try restoreing the ipod to make sure it is not a software issue.
Here is a link to the apple support site on restoring the ipod.

If the restore does not work, then you know it is a hardware issue and the ipod needs to be serviced.

  • Quand jai essayer dinstaller la mise a jour 6 sur mon ipod toutch cetait tres lent alors jai decide de le fermer au complet mais la cest pire il bogue et je ne suis plus capable de louvrir

    merci a tout le monde

    Google translate:
when i try installing the update on my ipod 6 toutch cetait very slow so i decided to close full but it CEST worst bug and I am no longer able to louvrir
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • No sound ipod 4g

hello i have ipod 4g when i try to play music or youtube i press play than after 3 secends i can press play again..there is no sound in games or headphones too. i restore already my ipod and put  4.3.5 , nothing help.. please help

I think you are saying that no sound is coming out of the speaker that is in the iPod but that the sound comes out of the headphones when the headphones are connected.
    - You do have the volume level all the way up right (the upper volume button on the left side of the iPod).
    - Next try in order:
    - Rest:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Plopping sound Ipod Classic.

    Hey forum members
Im having a little problem with my iPod Classic Video 30GB. When I put in earbuds (tried 3 different) then it gives a plopping sound when playing music.
I've noticed the sound reacts to the music. For example: When I turn the volume up to the max, it ticks really fast, when I turn it down, it ticks slower. Also certain parts of music get through (the most quit parts of the song with a volume of 15% on the classic when I turn up the volume on those parts it clicks as well).
So the classic makes a plopping speaker sound almost always but when a soung is really quiet it stops for a bit untill vocals or bass kick in.
Is there anybody who knows about this problem and has a solution or an idea what it might be?
    Thanks in advance!

I found the answer to this problem myself. For anyone who wants to know:
It seemed that the jack/hold flex cable was broken. One of the transistors has gone haywire and that caused the sinus plopping sound.
Replacing the jack/hold flex cable fixed the problem and now I have perfect sound again.

  • My new ipod nano plays videos but there is no sound, why?

My new iPod nano that plays videos has no sound going along with them. It's not a problem with the iPod, (I don't think) because the sound won't play on iTunes either, yet my music in playing just fine both on my ipod nano and in itunes. I dragged and dropped the video into itunes then I converted the video then used the convert selection for ipod. Why is there no sound? Is there something I am doing wrong? My 30gb ipod did worked just fine when I did it that way but my new ipod nano won't. Is there something else I have to do before I can watch and listen to videos?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Becca

QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, iTunes & the iPod (both of which use QuickTime) only show the video and no sound.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

  • No sound when converting movies to ipod in itunes

Ever since i received my ipod i was having problems converting my movies to ipod format. It takes a few hours to convert and then when its done i get no sound (movies are currently on my computer just not ipod ready.) I've made sure i have the latest version of itunes. Other than that i couldnt find any trouble shooting tips. I also tried converting using Quicktime pro. That was just a complete waste of time. It says it converts in about 4 seconds, when i go to open the file its just a snapshot of my computer screen instead my movie. (i go into export, pick the file, then select movie to ipod. also tried movie to mp4) Any ideas on what to do?!?!

  • How Do You Rate Your Current iPod's Sound Quailty vs. Your Older iPods?

I have had a 512 Shuffle, a 4GB Nano, a 2nd gen. iPod and a 3rd gen. iPod. I am a full time sound recording engineer and sound quality is what I am about 10 hours a day. My new 4th generation iPod sounds terrible. Its has very painful and aggressive hi-mid/low-hi's. Overall it has a thin sound with flabby bass. (Yes I do spend hours experimenting with the EQ settings on many different types of songs.) I have to get rid of it. It's not miles different from other iPods, but different enough to be very displeasing for this sound engineer!
Do All 4G iPods Sound Harsh, Thin?
*What has been your best sounding iPod?*
    So far my reviews:
2Gen iPod and a 3Gen iPod = good iPod sound quality (the average)
512 Shuffle = my favorite sound quality, full and very warm, decent bass
4GB Nano = PUNCHIEST bass, great sound but slightly thinner than the mighty Shuffle!
BTW, I use Sony MDR-EX71 in-ear sealed headphones which, in my opinion, have no competition as far as price/performance ratio for this "disposable" item. Anything better for $30-$40?

  • Home videos transfer to ipod with no sound

so i have a video camcorder and i made some home videos and they wouldn't copy to my ipod. so i went to my toolbar and it said convert selection for ipod or something along the lines of that and so i clicked that and a new window popped up under my devices section of my itunes tabs where the cds show up when i'm importing and it took about 2 minutes to convert. so i resynced my ipod and the video went on and so i went to watch it because i always double check these things to be sure and there's no sound to accompany the video. i guess it's not that big of a deal but it would be nice if i could find out what the problem is
