NoClassDefFound when running applet from a jar
I have a project defined in Oracle JDeveloper 3.2 which runs fine with the appletviewer. However, when I create
a JAR of the project (including all the libraries), Netscape gives me this error.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleConnection

The class oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleConnection is in the JAR, as are the two called classes it claims not to find in these errors:
# Verifier error oracle/jdbc/dbaccess/DBError.throwBatchUpdateException(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;II[I)V: Cannot find class java/sql/BatchUpdateException# Verifier error oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleConnection.initialize(Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;Ljava/lang/String;Loracle/jdbc/dbaccess/DBAccess;Ljava/util/Hashtable;)V: Cannot find class java/util/Map
I would appreciate any help.
TIA.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleConnectionI can think of a handful of reasons why you are getting that error message. But, let's see your html file, just that portion that deal with the <APPLET>, <OBJECT> and <EMBED> tags. I'm particularly interested in how you specify the jar file(s). Are you doing it this way:
<APPLET CODE="myApp" CODEBASE="." ARCHIVE="myApp.jar,Oracle.jar" WIDTH=100 HEIGHT=100></APPLET>
I am assuming that oracle libraries are in a jar file, are you putting that jar file inside of your jar file -- that would never work. If that's what you did, you must either extract the contents of libraries jar and then jar them together with your class files or keep the jar separate and use a manifest to specify the CLASSPATH.

Hi,
starting a couple of weeks ago, we get the following error(s) when running applications from a network share. We don't know what causes this, we are not aware of any major changes in our network infrastructure or client/Server configuration. We did upgrade
a lot of machines to Windows 8, but the issue also occurs on older Win7 computers.
We figured out a workaround though: The applications run fine when launching from a FQDN share (like
\\share.domain.Company.com) and only cause problems when running from
\\share directly. They have worked fine for years without FQDN though.
Any ideas?

User Action
1. Open the file again. This situation might be a temporary problem that corrects itself when the program runs again.
2. If the file still cannot be accessed and
- It is on the network, your network administrator should verify that there is not a problem with the network and that the server can be contacted.
- It is on a removable disk, for example, a floppy disk or CD-ROM, verify that the disk is fully inserted into the computer.
3. Check and repair the file system by running CHKDSK. To run CHKDSK, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and then click OK. At the command prompt, type CHKDSK /F, and then press ENTER.
4. If the problem persists, restore the file from a backup copy.
5. Determine whether other files on the same disk can be opened. If not, the disk might be damaged. If it is a hard disk, contact your administrator or computer hardware vendor for further assistance.

It sounds like a DNS suffix issue. When this issue occurs, please try to ping share on the client, then check if the corresponding IP address is correct. If the IP address is wrong, please adjust your settings of DNS to make sure that the client can resolve
the share correctly.
If it's very hard to change the settings of the DNS for some reason, as a work around, we can add the entry into the clients' hosts file.

Message format exception when running TestProducer from EDM
Hi,
I'm getting weblogic.jms.common.MessageFormatException: Illegal property name, 'error-contex
t' error when running TestProducer from EDM. Does anyone know how i can change error-context to a string without - ? Or any suggestion to make it work ?
Thanks,
Jessie
Hi Jessie,
As per the JMS specification, property names must be a legal identifier,
similar to java variable names. I think the reason for this is
that property names are used in selectors, and the parser would have
no clue what do with an expression like:
error-context > 10

Everything runs fine from the Designer. I can execute the scenarion using the agent from Designer no problem.
Any idea on this error? Sounds like a path error, but I've checked everything.
Thanks in advance.
NickI believe i have the answer.
When are you are triggering via ODI Designer its going and reading from this folder path Oracle_ODI1\oracledi.sdk\lib
Now there is another Folder called Lib which has the re.py causing which enables Designer to run the re module perfectly.
When the same scenarios is being called via startscen it reads the Oracle_ODI1\oracledi\agent\lib and here there is Jython.jar is there but Lib which contains the re.py is missing.
Temporary Solution - Copy the Lib from Oracle_ODI1\oracledi.sdk\lib to Oracle_ODI1\oracledi\agent\lib and call your startscen again .It should work.
The reason i am calling this a temporary solution is that we would need to modify the odiparams accordingly to read from the right path namely(Lib) and i dont have much time to look at it now. i will look into it later.
You can try if this works and if you want you can check with metalink if there is proper solution or reach Oracle Support for more appropriate solution or any other experts who have experinced the same can update the solution. -
ClassNotFound error when loading applet from a NTLM authenticated site
Hi,
I wrote a Java applet and put it into a JAR file and signed the JAR file. It works fine if the user doesn't need to be authenticated. However, when I place the same JAR to a site that uses NTLM (NT challenging) authentication. The applet failed to load and returns ClassNotFound exception. Does anyone know why?

In addition sun does not support NTLM authentication, because of this the latest jvms are unable to download the jar file containing the applet.
I have been working on finding a way to replace suns http Handler, but have had no luck with setting the java.protocol.handler.pkgs for the plugin and having it retain the setting.
I have achieved partial results using the appletviewer with -J-Djava.protocol.handler=com.nogoop

Problems with running applet from Java Tutorial
Hello
I'd like to compile applet from Lesson Applets, trail: Deployment, title of lesson: A Simple Network Client Applet. But at the beginning of the source code is written that it will work only with: JavaSE 5 version.
* SwingWorker can be downloaded at:
* https://swingworker.dev.java.net/
* SwingWorker must be downloaded for JavaSE 5, but will be included
* in JavaSE 6.
Well, does anyone know about applet doing the same thing which would work in older versions of JDK?. Do I necessarily have to install JavaSE6?. I have J2EE 1.4SDK and I run into errors compiling this example.
Cheers

Can I set JVM memory size when running applets?
Hi,
I have downloaded an applet that renders panoramic images and
I have a problem with Java memory. I remember that default maximum
size that applet can use is 70MB, and the problem is 70MB is
not enough when rendering big images. It is OK when I add
"-Xmx -Xms" parameters in the Java Control but I cannot tell
everyone who wants to see my images to go control panel, add
parameters etc..
So my question is...
Is it possible add "-Xmx -Xms" parameters inside the applet file
so that these parameters run automatically when executing applet?
Thanks in advance for your reply!

Dear Jenny,
I am running reports from Forms 6i on the WEB. I did not encounter your problem. Nevertheless I would like to share the following with you.
RUN_PRODUCT doesn't work for calling reports ON THE WEB. Instead using RUN_PRODUCT do the following:
1. Install Oracle Reports Server
2. For WEB calls of reports use WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT
3. Learn how to pass parameters to the reports. It is a litlle bit strange, but it is explaint excellent in the documentation to the Reports Server.
I hope this will help you.

Load oracle jdbc driver error when run applet via the web
Hi All,
I have built an applet which connect to database via jdbc thin driver. It works fine when I run it through the applet viewer, but got a problem when run it through the web.
java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/jdbc/driver/OracleDriver
I am using jdev9i 9.0.4 and jdk 1.4.2. The jdbc version is 9.0.1
I have added both the classes12.zip and ojdbc14.zip in the class path and also pack them together with my applet class. Here is the code
public class MyApplet extends Applet

Any advice is highly appreciated
MeiSir,
Well you haven't "packed" them correctly. Why don't you just add the driver bits to the soucebase tag? or something like that anyway...

Loading script "script path-name" failed (0xC0000006) error when running scripts from DFS
We have this issue where any number of random scripts that execute at startup will produce the following error when run from DFS:
The status code for this error equates to STATUS_IN_PAGE_ERROR - The instruction at 0x%p referenced memory at 0x%p. The required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0x%x.
This does not always happen each time and the script can be random. If we move the script(s) to a non DFS, we do not see this. I believe the issue is being caused by a minute disconnect to the DFS for whatever script is attempting to execute at that
moment. This happens across a few (consistent) offices on different computers.
Any ideas?Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that you run scripts in a shared folder which is added to a DFS Namespace, then the error prompt. However, you can run the scripts when you directly access the shared folder.
What scripts did you run? Is there any error message in the Event Log? If so, please provide us the detailed error message for our further research.
Best Regards,
Mandy

I cannot run the applet from explorer ?! I'm trying to open the html (applet).
Perhaps, you use Swing library and your browser don't support JDK more than 1.1.
May be, your applet can not find additional classes.
Check it, and also applet tag in HTML page. -
ORA-44356 when running report from Oracle Application Server 10g
All,
We have some reports that we developed using Reports Builder 10g. We use a few program units that run with every record that use the exec_sql package to run dynamic sql in a remote database. Everything runs fine when we test the reports in Reports Builder. After we compile the reports into the .rep format and place them on our Oracle Application Server 10g portal instance, we are running into the subject error when we try to run the report from the website. From the research that I've done, it seems that this error has to do with the use of exec_sql, but there is not too much info on the web regarding this error number. Running a trace when running the report in Reports Builder doesn't show any errors, and to further complicate things, this error only occurs on some reports...others that use the exec_sql package work fine.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening?
Thanks for your help,
TomNothing is different between the reports in the exec_sql section. The strange part is that the reports will bomb out seemingly at random, at different times, and during the execution of different program units. I was able to find a work-around using DB Links, but I'd rather not use the DB Link if I can avoid it.
