Nokia 301 problem

phone doesnt show which sim is ringing, this only happens when the number saved in contacts, what should I do?

Is the contact saved on both SIM cards? Or saved in the phone memory and on one of the SIM cards?
Try storing that particular contact on one sim and delete it on the other.

Nokia 301 problem - service messages / balance enq...

I bought a Nokia 301 mobile for one of my relatives at Christmas and am having such problems with it on Sainsbury's Mobile.
I popped the SIM card in, expecting the internet setting to be sent by text - but nothing. Then to make matters worse, every time I call to ask for a balance - it displays text as a service message that is completely unreadable! Like it is full of nonsensicle characters.
I'm just lost as to what's wrong with it. Even if I could find the internet settings but Sainsbury's website is useless. The balance enquiry is a real problem though - could it be a SIM card problem?

Receiving those settings automatically is not normal especially for big carriers like Vodafone. Not sure about Vodafone UK. Actually, your carrier could change one tiny piece in their global settings and a Nokia would work instantly. Anyway, Sainsbury’s says: ‘If you don’t receive the settings within 24 hours of activating your SIM, text WEB to 40127 for free’.

OK. That is USSD. Because you cannot do anything wrong, like a wrong setting, this is a bug. Here in Nokia Support Discussions, we cannot fix such a bug. Therefore, you should report to the mentioned parties because only those have a chance to fix that bug. Nokia 301 app store problems

I have a problem with the Nokia Store app in my Nokia 301 (single SIM) RM-841 v.8.02 S40 phone. It's an unlocked phone.
I opened the store app and it said there was a required update. I said yes and it updated. However, after that, the Nokia Store app doesn't work properly and hangs, and it also displays the icon with a key over it. The Nokia internet doesn't work properly either after the store app update.
I tried to use the recovery tool wich I downloaded from Microsoft. I installed it, connected the phone with the appropiate USB cable, followed the instructions. The recovery tool detected my phone but after that, it just doesn't seem to work and it says installation failed and gets stuck at 10%.
What can I do to solve and/or fix the issue to be able to use the Nokia Store app again and the Nokia internet browser.
I have Windows 7 of 64bit.
Can anyone help me?

On the first (differ), you have to say YES, or the download does not work.
On the second (keep), depends on the app. However, I go for NO usually.
The built-in apps do not have the download URL embedded, when you first update. Furthermore, even the next updates are going to show that warning because the webserver scripts redirect while updating. Therefore, this message. Botching. This is actually a software-bug in the app and webserver scripts. With one experienced computer scientist, this would not have happened.
If you do not keep the data, you start all over – except for apps which store your data online, like the Nokia Store. If you start over, you make sure, you do not have RMS with unexpected settings. This is important, if you used an already updated app, which FOTA downgrades. Because you do not know, if FOTA downgraded an app, NO is the safe way. We saw that with Nokia Xpress on some models. Anyway, again, a software-bug because apps can be designed to handle unknown/future settings easily. Botching.

Nokia 301 language problem

Hello.
I got problem with nokia 301 mobile phone. When I connect it to computer it only speak chinese to me...
And im from Finland.
First Nokia 301 had DOA and returned it, got new and now this one is freaking chinese... What the fudge?
I really would like to get some explains.

stebenwulf, looks like garbage rather than Chinese.
Do you use the latest USB driver? After installing it, you have to go to the Windows Device Manager, right-click on your Nokia, and repair the driver. The Nokia must be attached at that time. If that does not help, try another computer. It that shows garbage again, either ignore the message or return this device, as well.

Nokia 301 Signal problems?

Today I Installed an update for my 2 Months old nokia 301.After installation I have no signal on my phone anymore.
What should I do?

Well for voice and SMS, you could switch to GSM-only (at least). No solution for data connectivity, tho.
I recommend to subscribe to that thread. If an software update is available, you’ll get an email.

Nokia 301 v8.02 update 3G problem

Hello
So after the update same thing happened as before with 2.51 update. No 3G!
2G works and factory reset doesn't help. What is the deal with this?

After I updated my Nokia 301.1 to version 08.02, it's basically a piece of junk now!!
Who is in charge of this???
The phone doesn't work at all.
It loses it's connectivity randomly all the time.
It isn't able to send or recieve a textmessages.
Batterylife is completely rubbish now. Before I could have it for up to 7 days without charging. Now it loses it's batterylife after 1 single day!! How is this an improvement???
The same decrease in batterylife happened after the last update! Then the batterylife decreased from 10 days to 7 days. Please stop trying to fix a phone that was all right out of the box, but after 2 updates, it's completely useless!!!!

Nokia 301 icon issues following latest update

I have got a Nokia 301 which usually works fine.
I`ve just updated the phones software to the latest version. My problem is: -
When I click on the Mail icon, nothing happens. So I can`t see my email account I added.
Is there a way of sorting this out?

I have previously deleted the email account and then added it back in.
The problem this time is when i click on the Mail Icon, it doesn't open up.
I don't really want to do a factory reset. If i have to i will.
I just wandered if there was a way of bypassing the Mail Icon to access my email account, or deleting the icon and reinstalling it.

Nokia 301 random crash

My Nokia 301 crashes and reboots randomly when I make a call or shoot a photo.
It freezes, goes white-screen, and reboots. Seems the crash occurs more times when I use a bigger-sized wallpaper (I mean data size) or shoot a more-colourful photo.
I have updated to firmware v2.51, battery is fine. Currently no more crash when calling, but often crashes when shooting a photo. I went to shoot natural scences like flowers, grass and sky. The phone crashed agian and again.
Maybe the phone has trouble handling complex images?
BTW, after I updated to v2.51, when I try to download SW update again, it always says "404" before any other message is displayed.

I have to same problem with camera and like your problem freeze just when the photo is big size.

I have given my nokia 301 in nokia care hisar,haryana for the charging problem then they said me to take the mobile in 10 days but now 1 month has gone and i do not receive my mobile which is under warranty

When was the last time you contacted the care center and asked for your phone's repair status? What did they tell you? Note that the repair duration may vary depending the complexity of the issue and availability of spare parts needed.

Netqin ... or any firewall on Nokia 301

Hey,
i used a workaround on my C5-00 (dont use this phone now, cause the quallity of phonecalls was pretty bad) for whatsapp: Used netqin Firewall to block whatsapp internetconection. I don´t wanna be online all the time.
Is it possible to turn off the internetconnection in a s40 device, like the nokia 301? My Samsung Galaxy has a option to switch the mobile internet on and off.
If not, is it possible to get a similar workaround like explained above? (Firewall to block whatsapp... only establish a connection if needed) Does Netqin runs on s40?

hmmm would be super nice if apps are only active if they are on the screen ... more isnt really needed i think ... Problem will be a internetconnection out of my home country ... 3G is pretty expensive there for me
i dont need a smartphone ... just a bit internet for whatsapp, emails.... nothin more.. no apps.. no maps.. no nothin...

Nokia 301 - the screen goes white

I have a Nokia 301 and his screen goes white sometimes. When that is happening, I can still use the phone (I can open the music player for example).
I bought the phone with this problem! I was with the phone at guaranty (after 2 months), but they canceled my guaranty because "mechanical shocks".
What can I do? I have update to the last software.

Have you dropped the phone before? Have you tried sending the phone to a Nokia Care Centre?

Nokia 301 Dual SIM flash file or flash theme

Hi nokia,
from bangladesh. Few days ago i bought nokia 301 dual sim phone. Software version was 2.33 after update it now 9.04. My problem below:
1.It is unable to support flash file or flash theme. The home screen is blank when apply. Flash file is not open. It looks "file not support". But my privious phone(c2-01) it was supported. Please help me to suppopt flash theme or file.
2. Youtube video loading only 60% then looks "no response".
Dear nokia please help me to view flash file and apply flash theme at any way and give a satisfaction reply to view youtube video.

Sounds like your file system gets corrupted each time you update WhatsApp. Did you update WhatsApp manually already? If that shows the same behaviour, I would send in that phone because the cause could be hardware related (broken flash memory).

Nokia 301 no update available

Hi, i recently purchased nokia 301 and I do experience rather poor battery performace (which was one of the things for which i bought it). Therefore i decided to update software of the phone. Version of SW in my phone is 2.51 from June of previous year. Nokia page of my home country (Czech Republic) states, that the lates version available is 8.02 (http://www.nokia.com/cz-cs/podpora/produkty/asha301/softwareupdate/). However when i follow instructions how to update SW through OTA, my phone states, that there are no updates available.
Any suggestions?
I cannot use Nokia Suite, since it is one of those new phones no longer supported.
I bouught it in store, therefore problem should not be caused by provider...

@ThatRottenGuy please, give us the 7-letter code written on the label of your phone (product code). That determines the firmware variant which determines the version you get. If you cannot wait, you can check the latest version with the help of the Nokia Software Recovery Tool. I recommend that tool over a Nokia Care Centre because they are using the same tool and earsing your data. Therefore, you should back-up your data via Nokia 301 » menu » Settings » Sync and backup » Create backup. You need a microSD for this. Alternatively, you can use the Nokia Suite …

Nokia 301 - Can we reinstall same firmware our own...

Well when I check new software update it says no new. Is there any using which I can update same software again using any secret code or software?
Can Nokia Recovery tool do this thing? (I never used this)
Also can we downgrade to old firmware if we see any issue with new version own.

I managed to connect with Nokia Recovery Software, phone was properly recognized, firmware was downloaded, but problem occurs at stage of installation (at very beginning 10% of progress). Nokia ROM driver is being seeked then it is alert on problem with installing it, 10% of progress info is not changing till alert on missing connection of phone appears. Fortunately nothing was changed. i sent my phone to a customer point. they also tried but failed. finally they told me, it's the problem of phn processor. but i didn't believe as i have seen others have same experience.
btw, my phn firmware is 09.04. i tried to recover sofware as it shows an annoying alert "a prefered sim is needed to keep app online. continue?". what should i do? pls reply

Nokia 301 Media player

Hy guys,
i have a big problem..for me.. in my job, i have to answer the phone and take the order. For this, i need to record the call, and later i have to give the order to the other colleagues. On my previous phones, x2-00, 6300, in the middle of the call can play the recorded files. On my new Nokia 301 its imposible. Error "Not alowed".
Its very important to me this .
Why ?
If this is the media player built, i don't understand their logic. If i recorded a call its have to be able to play.

Consequently, this feature broke either with HD-Voice (AMR-WB) or with 3G (UMTS). Has anyone tried with a Nokia 208, because that has 3G like the Nokia 301 and Nokia 515. If it works ina Nokia 208, the cause might be AMR-WB.
