Nokia 5530 wlan problem

when I want to connect to a wlan it says that a connection is allready active and i need to close it to connect but no connection is active.I hard reseted it and puted the new softwere on but still the same problem, can you put a smile on my face?

Com on? Oke, boss. I begin to think it's not your 5530 but your router or accesspoint. Check for MAC filtering and reset the router/accesspoint. If that doesn't work, we run out of options and you've to think bringing your device in for service.

  • 5530 WLAN Problem

Hello mates. I am using Nokia 5530 XpressMusic Phone for some months. The problem started a month ago when I tried to connect to my WLAN router. There is a security key on my router but when I connect through my Nokia Phone, it doesn't ask for any key (with my Laptop, I can connect to the WLAN with the preshared key). It simply connects to the router without they key and when I start browsing, it says "No Gateway Reply". Thinking this might be the settings problem I soft reset my phone but still the problem remains. The point is, it only does this with my own router. Anyone know how to sort this out?

The advantage of the Pre-shared key (PSK) is that you only have to set it once. So, next time, you won't be asked. Disable the power saving in the advanced settings of WLAN to avoid the "No Gateway Reply" .

  • ANOTHER NOKIA C3 WLAN PROBLEM

Ok, I'm not able to choose wlan or gprs internet but untill I was trying to open the Internet via WLAN tel says 'service not available''.'' activating default in all applications'' does not work, simply because it's getting back all my options from WEB and I''m connecting the Int via gprs again. What should I do? any ideas? maybe it's all about my router or so? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

    Hi, this is Paulo Bral™,
I recently got an Nokia C3-00 mobile, and I faced so many problems with Wi-FI connection of this phone that I decided to share my experience with you guys.
I am going to write here the definitive guide to fix all WLAN problems you may encounter (and this is something that not even Nokia Support was able to do) - are you ready?
First of all, I am assuming you have the knowledge about Wi-Fi networking (SSIDs, Channels, Security, and all the terms related to setting up a decent Wi-Fi connection), second, you need to have full acess to your router, as we will configure everything from the ground, third and last you will need a tool called InSSIDer from Meta Geeks (Google it) to perform diagnostic tasks explained below.
    Analyzing the networks around you
First off, you need to spend some time running the tool InSSIDer on your PC to collect data from Wi-Fi networks around you as they may be the cause of your connection problems. We will use these 2 visualizations: "Time Graph" and "2.4GHz Channel" to monitor the networks around - if you dont know what you are doing, better close this page and start running away.
    Configuring the router
After collecting data from the networks around, now it's time to set up our router. I found out that I have other 15 networks around me, and I found out here that most of them were using Channel 6, the same I was using. Also some of them are using the Channel 9 and 11. In this case, I set my router to use the Channel 1, as nobody were using it and it is also far away from other Channels being used. After some time collecting data, you will be able to see which Channel has no user or less users, and you must choose it. The security of you WLAN is your choice, as it does not have any side effects. I suggest using WPA2 as it is the most secure of the 3 this mobile supports. BTW, don't ask me how to configure your router, ask Google for it!
    Testing WLAN connectivity
Now it's time to test WLAN connectivity with your reconfigured router. Try opening some pages, try watching YouTube videos... If your mobile is working OK, with no connection errors or timeouts, your problem was only the interference caused by networks around. But, if you still experience problems like timeouts or errors opening pages and YouTube videos, you need to continue to the next step.
Using router QoS and Static IP
If you have an very fast internet (10MBPS+) you will need to slow things down, as this cell phone does not really support fastest internet speeds, now you have to know your cell MAC address, make it use an Static IP, and configure QoS to reduce the downstream speed on the cell phone IP to 3MBPS max speed - BTW, not all routers supports this, if yours don't support it, get another router, I recommend Cisco or LinkSyS.
    Still having problems
The above steps solved my problem for a while, as the phone were working a little better with my Wi-Fi, yet I experienced some timeouts and errors opening pages. Now the next step will require a PC connected to your network and this will reduce to ZERO the timeouts and errors opening pages.
Keeping the Connection Alive - for bad routers
If you have a generic (not Cisco or LinkSyS) cheap bad router, you will need this step! I noticed that even when the cell phone were showing the Wireless icon, the LED indicating Wireless on my router was not always turned on, so I understood my router was like "ignoring" the cell phone connection and just stopped responding to its calls. To fix this bad router behaviour, you will need a PC connected to your network, and prepare yourself to laugh: All you need to do is "keep pinging" the cell phone IP as this will keep it connection alive. The simplest way is to create a .BAT file with these 3 lines inside:
    :autoping
    ping <cell phone IP>
    goto autoping
Now save it on your desktop, use anyname.bat as you wish - now run it and connect your cell phone to the WLAN. You will notice the difference, as it will work so stable like if it were connected using LAN cable!!! You will never have connection problems again!
Well, that is it, following this guide your cell phone will never have WLAN problems again (well, at least on your WLAN).
    Best regards,
    Paulo Bral™

  • Nokia N8 WLAN problem

    Hi all,
Sorry if this has already been covered!
I'll keep it simple....Nokia N8, had it connected to my home broadband router yesterday no problems, disconnected it overnight and today when I go to the 'WLAN wizard' section (in settings), it shows my router as a known network, I go to connect and it says connection failed and goes back to 'known network'.  As far as I know I haven't changed any settings on my phone since I was connected to it so not sure why this is happening.  Grateful for any suggestions!

    hi,
I've got exactly the same problem.
*I tried changing my routers wireless security settings from WPA to WEP which temporarily solved the problem. Then all of a sudden it starts failing to connect.
*Changed it to no security, didn't work
*Tried disabling power saving mode, didn't work.
Called up the Orange customer support and they advised me to stay away from this phone as its seriously faulty, and that was from 2nd line support (not first).
if anyone has any other solutions that might work please let me know.

    Go to Solution.

    Hi Aurora,
Thank you for your first post and a big welcome to the Nokia discussion forums. And no need to apologise for your English its perfectly fine!
What I would suggest is to try the following:
Firstly remove the wireless connection from your phone and reset the router then try reconnecting. Also please clear all the cache from the web browser.
If this doesn't reset the phone by doing a soft reset by typing *#7780# (Please remember to back up your phone) and then try reconnecting.
If this doesn't work then please try a hard reset by typing *#7370# (Again please make sure you have backed up your phone!!).
Just to mention if your phone asks for a security code then the default code 12345.
Let me know if any of the above helps if not then please let me know and I shall endeavourer to think of some more potential troubleshooting we could try.
    Regards

  • Really annoying Nokia 500 WLAN problem

I'm with Three in the UK, to use their Planet3 service I have to connect to the website by using the 3G connection, but whatever settings I use the 500 turns on the WLAN and connects through that so I can't access Planet3 - I've gone through all the settings I can find and set them to never connect, always ask, manual etc and disconnected from the WLAN manually but as soon as I try connecting with 3G it turns WLAN on without asking - anything I can do apart from deleting the WLAN settings completely? On my old X6 WLAN off mean't it was off and i got a box asking if i wanted WLAN, WAP or internet, can't seem to get anything like this on the 500.
    Cheers

Hello shauniow, did you check the default connection in use option? Go to settings>connectivity>settings>destinations>options>default connection>in this set the one that contains your 3G access point.

  • Nokia x6 wlan problem

when me go to wlan it whole time searching for wlan network but it does not stop searching. 5 hour gone searching. Please help to make it right.

Could only suggest that you backup device data using Nokia Suite and reset by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lock code unless altered by user). Then try device after restoring "Contacts" and "Messages" if you want but NOT "Settings" as may re-introduce corruption.
Failing that try option to re-install existing device software within Nokia Suite > Tools > Software updates.

  • Nokia n800 wlan problems

Just was looking for some insight on my n800, the wlan is not able to locate access points what it use to be able to. I am stumped on how to get this to work or just to send it in for repairs. Is there anything I can do to resolve my issue.

  • Nokia C7 - WLAN Problem

    Hi,
I have recently brought a nokia C7. It detects the wireless LAN but whenever you ask it to connect, shows connecting and then says connection failed and WLAN not found. My Nokia X6 and Laptop are getting connected with the same configurations and the same security code but the C7 is not connecting.
I have tried changing configurations on my Livebox but it still won't work, please advise...

Make sure your access point is not hidden and SSID is being broadcasted. And If you have made changes to any of your wifi settings recently, reconfigure them from the scratch on your C7. And also see that the IP address of your C7 is not assigned to some other device in your network.

  • Nokia E61i WLAN Problem

I'm having a problem with WLAN on my phone. It works everywhere except at my house. When I scan for WLAN at home, it doesn't find my network. But when I'm out somewhere and scan, it works. Does anyone know how to fix the problem? My friend came over and he was able to find my home network on his N95, but no go on my E61i!

    Hi,
is your AP hidden? Try broadcasting the ssid. Also, try changing the channel to 1, 6 or 11.

  • Nokia N97 WLAN problem

    Hi,
Came to add my 2nd Wireless LAN connection into the destinations system. Already added one Wireless LAN (which is now priority 1 in the Internet destination). when I added a 2nd wireless LAN connection it added it to a new 'Uncategorized' destination which it created automatically.
Fine I thought, so I selected this destination, and then selected the access point, and used the 'move' command to move it over to the Internet destination. It then told me that it was going to delete the 'uncategorized' destination as it was no longer in use.
Strangely the new access point did not appear in the Internet destination. So I tried to re-add the WLAN, and now everytime I do so the 'settings' application crashes
Anyone managed to add 2 WLAN entries to the same destination yet or had this problem and knows how to work around it?
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I solved this problem by the way (there is a bug in the firmware). The wireless point did not intially have internet access, hence why it was put into a new uncategorized destination. The bug exists if you switch an access point (which it things doesn't have internet access) into the Internet destination.
Only thing you can do to fix your phone then is the full reset using the # code.

  • Nokia 5800XM wlan problem

    hello,
so, i had my nokia 5800 for a long time, and today i updated my software. it was 40.0, and now its 52.007    when i did it, wifi totaly disapeared... when i turn on setings->conectivity-> theres no W-LAN! i dont know what to do, i tried rewriting updates, turning off and on my device, but that dont work
    Solved!

So you have tried to reinstall the firmware (update) with no success? The last thing you can do is a hard reset which will wipe your phone memory. Please back up before doing it, but most likely and if this does not work, you will have to visit a Nokia care point.

  • Nokia 5530 Messaging Problem Pls help !!!!11

i cannot recieve messages unless i take out my battery and start up the phone again. when i start up my phone again im not notificated about recieving a message unless i go into massages and then there is a red star, and the time the message is recived comes up. eventhough i didnt recieve the message untill i restarted my phone
    PLEASE HELP ME PLEASE

You may try changing the Destination folder for message storing to Phone Memory for some time and see if the problem continues. If the problem is resolved this way then you need to delete those messages from the Memory Card too.. You can have it stored n PC if you really need them..

Do you know if MAC address filtering is enabled? If it is then you have to add the MAC address of your phone to the list. Also change the channels setting on your router around to see if it works on another channel.
After that you can also try the following:
On your pc/laptop, click on Start>Run and type ipconfig/all and note the settings for:
    1. Subnet Mask
    2. Default Gateway
    3. DNS Servers
Now, on your Phone settings: Goto Menu>tools>settings>connection>access points
Select your WLAN access point and go to Advanced settings:
    IPv4 settings:
For phone IP address: Start with the Default Gateway IP and change the last number to something else.
For Subnet mask and Default gateway use the same as on PC
For DNS address: Change to user defined and enter same settings as on PC
