Nokia 9210 image problem

Question

On emulator everything works fine, but on real 9210
sometimes I get this exception:
Uncaught error fetching image:
java.lang.NullPointerException
     at sun.awt.Epoc32ComponentPeer.repaint()
     at java.awt.Component.repaint()
     at java.awt.Component.imageUpdate()
     at sun.awt.image.ImageWatched.newInfo()

     at sun.awt.image.JPEGImageDecoder.produceImage()
     at sun.awt.image.InputStreamImageSource.doFetch()
     at sun.awt.image.ImageFetcher.fetchloop()
     at sun.awt.image.ImageFetcher.run()
Is this a bug?

Yes image path is correct and sis is correct.
The problem:
Loading work fine. No errors.
When I try to show images sometimes it works fine, but
sometimes i get that nullPointerException that I can't catch. It goes straight to system.out so I no way to find out in the code if worked or not...
Here's how I create/load images:
Image up = null;
up = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage("up.jpg");
and how I try to view it (method paint):
Image i = this.createImage(250,130);
(some other stuff to i)
Graphics buffer2 = i.getGraphics();
buffer2.drawImage(up,5,5,this);
g.drawImage(i,0,0,250,130,0,0,250,130,this);
