Nokia E7: Typing a dot or a comma is impossible

I just bought a Nokia E7 and I just cannot enter a dot or a comma as whatever the shift or alt (arrow), pressing for a dot will enter a colon and pressing a comma will enter a semi-colon. Any idea before I return it?

I have a QWERTY keyboard
I live in Beirut, Lebanon where all phones are sold without a plan and where they are imported from funny sources.
There are E7s with QWERTY keyboards with arabic letters in addition to latin ones and the languages available in the machine include French which I require. However, the extra arabic characters on the keys make the latin ones quite unreadable for my aging eyes. So this combination is excluded for me.
There are also E7s with QWERTY keyboards without arabic letters in addition to latin ones and the languages available in the machine include Far Eastern languages but exclude French. Also excluded for me.
Finally, the rarity in the Lebanese market is E7s with QWERTY keyboards without arabic letters in addition to Latin ones ,and including French as a language. The shop where I bought mine could find only one of those. It has a separate key for the dot and another one for the comma. Strangely, while in the two more widely available combinations the dot and the comma functioned directly, they required ctrl on this model while the colon and semi-colon functioned directly.
I exchanged it for an iPhone 4 for a few more dollars which I will give to my daughter or to anybody who's very nice to me. And I will keep using the best phone ever: The E72 despite all what Nokia did to cripple it in its last update (more frequent hangs).

You must go in the labview option menu, you can select 'use the local
separator' in the front side submenu (LV6i).
If you use the "From Exponential/Fract/Eng" vi, you are able to select this
opton (with a boolean) without changing the labview parameters.

Skype on Nokia 630 - typed wrong name

Just got a Nokia 630.
Already have Skype on laptop with established Skype name and contacts, etc.
Went to set up Skype on N 630 but mis typed my name and registered without checking.
Now have new account that I do not want which is not synched to my laptop Skype account.
Tried to edit name but it would not allow me to do that and only opens witn the new account.
PLEASE let me know how to sort this problem out.

Nokia E63 - Typing letters on the home/standby scr...

Hi
I have a nokia E 63 phone.
Earlier, typing a few letters on the home/standby screen would bring up a list of contact names maching the keys pressed.
However, suddenly, this has stopped happening now - on tying a few letters, the letters appear on the screen but the matching contacts are not showed.
Anyone know how to fix it? Did I accidentally change any setting?

When formatting a date field in a where clause the template put dot instead of comma

Hello to Headstart Workers !
In a query find block the template construct a where clause, in some cases, and i dont know when the template is formatting a date field putting a dot instead of a comma.
Ex.: to_date('19-01-2001'.'DD-MM-YYYY')
Anybody knows why or where the template do this.

- We created it using the HS utilities.
- "nls_numeric_character = ,.".
- it onky happen when the field date is not the first field in the where clause.
- i can see the problem just after pressing find button, already in the ls_block in last_query.
- the find_query works normally but cannot edit any line in ls_block.

Wrong charakter for separation of numbers (dot instead of comma)

Hi there,
I face the following Problem with BI-Publisher 10.1.3.3.1. I want to have large numbers seperated by commas. There are different ways to do that in different countries. For example, in the usa the money amount 44.00 USD is seperated the following way: 44.00 USD. In Germany, the same money amount is seperated the following way: 44,00 USD (comma instead of dof).
Can someone tell me how to set this in BI-Publisher? I have one instance, where it does the seperation with comma, and another instance where a dot is used - but I can't find the difference in configuration.

I have two BI-Publisher-Instances on two identically configured OC4Js. On both instances that report is deployed and the used datasource points to exactly the same database with the same user.
But on one instance, the result diplayed is "40.00" and on the other instance, the result displayed is "40,00".
The NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS Definition in Database is ".,", so it should not work like I want on both instances (I need the result "40,00").

Number-Pad-Dot isnt a Comma

The point at the number pad should be a comma.
But this works only if I change the keyboard language in German.
Previously it worked with the Swiss setting.
Example: 3.5 mm = 35mm in Illustrator cuz the Dot isn't working...
What should I do? I can not always change the keyboard layout.

Displayin of int type variable contains dot instead of comma

I declared a database field as int4 for storing salary.When i enter the records say 23000 it is stored as 23.000
If i give the value as 23500 then also it is stored as 235.00 .Shouldnt there be a comma instead of a dot.

INT4 is a 4-byte integer. Please use the F1 key to make sure this is for numbers with no decimals only. For salary, an amount field connected with a currency key is the right solution.
And please note that what you see is not what is stored. 23.000 is the typical external representation of 23000 with a dot as thousand separator.
Please take some time to study ABAP basics.

This problem is generally because of the user setting, you correct it with the following code, You can check it in Su01.
1. First of all Fetch the currency format.
form fetch_currency_format changing w_usr01 type ty_usr01.
Check for User's Decimal notation
select single dcpfm
                from usr01
                into w_usr01
                where bname eq sy-uname.
2. When you are writing the currency or the quantity field.
Convert Currency to Desired format.
    if not w_slmin_c is initial.
      if w_usr01-dcpfm eq c_x.
      elseif w_usr01-dcpfm is initial.
        split w_slmin_c
                 at    c_comma
                 into w_min1
                       w_min2.
        translate w_min1 using c_chng.
        clear w_slmin_c.
        concatenate w_min1 w_min2 into w_slmin_c separated by c_dot.
      endif.
    endif.
Main thing you have to comare the work area field w_usr01-dcpfm is not equal to 'X'.

Dots and commas in numbers

Hey, I'm doing my budget in numbers and I can't figure out how to get numbers to let me use dots instead of commas when writing sums. I'd like to be able to wrote 320.50 instead of 320,50 (320 kroner and 50 øre). I'm from Denmark and i've always been used to write dots so now I keep making mistakes.

Change the Localization settings in System Preferences. Open System Prefs using the menu item " > System Preferences" then choose the "Language and Region" Panel:

My users want to use the dot key in the numpad in place of the comma dot. But when they use this key, an error message appear : "Input must be in the format .__.___,__"
This control is link to the domain of the field.
Is there a solution without change the standard fields ?

adapt v_motif according to user preferences - find them un USR01
f.e.g if you want to replace ',' with '.' and '.' with ',' motif = ',..,'
v_data = p_data .
translate v_data using v_motif .
write:/ v_data using edit mask '__:__:__:__'.
It just help to translate a string to a number.
If the trouble is same as mine it is not very helpfull
if users press the numpad dot key , ouput is a dot whatever their settings are
and they expect the output to be their decimal separator

Comma symbol keeps typing NON-STOP

This is odd. The "," symbol is typing non-stop. The comma key is not depressed. It works fine and is not sticking in anyway. Nothing is stuck underneath it either. If I open any application, it will create pages and pages of ",,,,,,,,,,,,," without me touching anything. If I open something that can not type right away (ie. Mail), it makes default noise when you press a wrong key. The noise comes as fast as the commas would type, as though someone is hitting the comma key as fast as a humanly possible. Keyboard was replace just last year.

(I believe 10.6.6 - can't turn on my computer to check).
I tried a restart. I tried cleaning my keyboard. Any other suggestions? My Apple Care has run out on this laptop.

Hi Stephanie,
First try a PRAM reset and SMC reset.
In some cases, the battery can interfere with a cable between it and the inside of the MBP, causing keyboard and/or trackpad issues. Shut down the MBP, disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery, take a piece of something semi-soft (like a paper napkin folded over a couple times), place it over the cable you see in the battery compartment, and tape it down. Replace the battery and see how things go. If this works, you'll eventually want to replace the keyboard/trackpad cable (about $25 if you can do the work yourself). Note that if you go to a repair shop, they usually want to replace the entire top case assembly, which is much more costly.
If the issue persists, shut down, disconnect the power adapter, remove the battery, connect the power adapter, boot the MBP and see if the issue persists without the battery in place (but remember to save a lot, because if the power adapter gets pulled out the MBP will immediately shut down and any unsaved work will be lost).
Also look at the battery to see if it has any signs of deformity/bulging, in which case do not use it again (it may be pushing on the keyboard/trackpad cable and causing the issue); it must be replaced.

Comma or point in decimal number

Hi,
I wonder how to handle decimal number input from jsp page with comma or point. Is there a way to take care of this automatic so a comma get parsed to a point or vice versa.

I don't know if it will be a comma or a dot that is inputed. My keyboard uses a comma on the numeric pad but if i change it to a US keyboard it will use dot instead so I can't tell what a user will input. And if I understand everything when java calculates a double it has to be with a dot, or am I completly wrong.
So with this in mind i decided to replace all dots with a comma and then parse it to a double with NumberFormat and do my calculation and then format it with NumberFormat again. This works fine and gives me a nice output if no one tries to input more than one point or comma.
I can't think of another way to do it so if this is completly wrong so please point me in the right direction.
