Nokia Maps Update and Maploader v1.2 released

Hi all
At long last and as expected released today available from:
http://europe.nokia.com/A4509291
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

Worked it out. Uninstall the existing application, restart the phone, install the new (N73) version then restart the phone. All the maps are gone and it starts a map update (data connection). You need to wait for it to dowload the maps before you try anything or it crashes.
I guess you could start the application, say no to update, close the application, use Map Loader (if you can get through a proxy) to download your maps and the start the application again.
BTW, it does retain any landmarks you had saved.

  • Nokia maps updated and after a soft reset..

After I installed the nokia maps suite update, I decided to do a soft reset on my n8. I'm always using nokia pc suite to install apps, maps, voice files and software updates. But now, I can't update my maps via nokia suite. I'm using the latest stable nokia suite (not beta) I also tried to restore but it's a no go.

What's the error it's giving when you try to update the maps? I assume it's just the regional map data you're trying to get, and the app is on your phone OK.
Have you run the maps application on your phone? On first start it has to create some directories, only after it's done this can you install maps and languages.
Also might be worth trying the latest beta from here if you're still having issues: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-maps-suite it does say one of the fixes is a maploader download issue.... this may be exactly what you need!
If I have helped you, please hit the star at the bottom of my posts - it's appreciated!

  • N82 Nokia Maps update fail

    Hi,
I have a problem with my phone. The phone was turned off by mistake during Nokia Maps update. Nokia Maps do not work at all now. When i push button "Maps", I don't get any reaction. Nothing happens. Could you please give me a piece of advice, how i can to reinstall Nokia Maps or something else? I was trying Nokia Maps Loader, but it did not help me...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try reinstalling it using the same procedure you used whe updating. If this works fine but if it doesn't then you have to reinstall the previous version and then try updating again.
Because Nokia Maps is embeded in the firmware, to reinstall the original Nokia Maps version, you have to reinstall the firmware. To do this, you have to use the *#7370# reformat phone code. Before reformatting you need to backup all data in your phone because your phone will be wiped.
After reinstalling the firmware, you will find that you are back to the previous version of Nokia Maps. Now try updating again. After you successfully update, delete the "Cities" folder on the memory card, use Nokia Maps at least once. Now finally you can use Map Loader to download latest maps.

  • Nokia maps update in c7

STILL I DIDNT recieve nokia map update for my C7.i AM USING v3.06
    ENDRUM NATPUDAN

Just Try poet reset. Dial *#7870# and press call.Enter 12345 if security code required. Phone will restart, your settings will restore to original. Mail boxes if any will be deleted. You will need to set your ringtones and other settings. Your apps and files WILL NOT be deleted. Now check software update menu. Most probably you should receive the update. Else you will be forced to hard reset and if you proceed to hard reset, make sure you back up your data.

  • Nokia Maps Update Information

    Hi All,
On the Nokia Maps FAQ it states the following regarding updates:
1.11 How often is the map data in Nokia Maps updated?
The map data will be updated twice a year. You can check for map updates in the Nokia Maps application through Options > Settings > Network > Options > Check for map Updates.
On my E65 I don't appear to have this option to check for updates.
Can someone let me know how to check which map version I have and how to find out when new maps are available.
    Cheers,
    co

    Hi chrowe
Whilst Nokia Maps is running goto Options > About to check what version you have.
Provided that a "network connection" is available I believe that the "Check for Map Updates only appears if application detects disparity between stored maps and those currently available, but I might be wrong on this.

  • Nokia Maps Updater Download Button inactive

Nokia E71x. 8gb micro card installed. Nokia Maps updater V1.0.8. Windows XP pro SP3.
Program launches. Recognizes Phone. When "checking for updates" the "cancel" button is active. When 5.33 MB update page splashes neither the cancel or download button are active.
I have roamed the forum and tried the following suggestions
    a. Use Tab key to navigate - doesn't work
    b. change font size on page - doesn't work
    c, launch program at 640x800 resolution-doesn't work
    d. launch program in Win 2000 compatibility mode - doesn't work
Are there any other suggestions? Can I manually update the maps. Can I get the phone to update the maps on a wifi connection?
    Any help appreciated.

    Hi,
I wanted to let you know that we do have an update for the application to correct this issue and it will be available in the near future. In the meantime you can get around this issue by doing as posted in this thread or by navigating with the "Tab" key to either the Cancel or Download button, confirming your selection with the "Space" key.
I would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused, and thank you for your feedback - as i have said before, Keep it coming!
    Thanks

  • Error during Map Update via Nokia Maps Updater on ...

    hi,
im trying to update maps on my n96. but i get an error message. here are my details:
"Cannot get enough information about the phone [3]
    unspecified error(1)."
PC: Windows 7 Professional 32 bit
    PC Suite 7.1.40.6
    N96: SW 30.033, 30.033.098.1, 18-06-09, RM-247

    Setup Nokia Maps Updater 1.0.12.exe
Is there any workaround for n96? I tried to download an install nokia_maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis file from a link in another thread about similar issue with n95, but it will not install on n96.
any tips will be greatly appreciated.

In a similar thread I found this post by Ovikovi:
"For those having trouble installing the Nokia Ovi Maps application itself.
I currently have links for 4 versions of the Nokia Ovi Maps application. These files need to be stored on your memory card on your phone (usually you would connect your phone to the computer in Mass Storage mode and pop the files on the card, then disconnect and install the application on your phone).
After installation, run the application once, then exit. Now you can install your maps.
Previously I only had links to three separate versions of the OVI maps application here. Maybe the extra one will help some of you.
Symbian is an operating system used on nearly all Nokia smartphones. Which version of the Ovi Maps application you need for your phone depends on which version of Symbian you are running on your phone.
    Here they are:
    Ovi Maps 3.01
(for non-touchscreen devices such as the E63 and similar running the same version of the operating system (Symbian S60 version 3 Feature Pack 1) without free turn-by-turn voice guidance [program requests license when making a route])
    http://static.s2g.gate5.de/nokiamaps-client/nokia_ maps_3.01_09wk44_b01_s60_3.1_lm_rom.sis
    Ovi Maps 3.03
(for non-touchscreen phones fully supported with free turn-by-turn voice navigation)
    http://nds1.nokia.com/PRODUCT_METADATA_0/Explore_S ervices/Ovi_Maps/nokia_maps_3.03_10wk11_b04_s60_3...
    Ovi Maps 3.03
As above (fully supported with free turn-by-turn voice navigation) on selected phones but for slightly newer version of the Symbian operating system (S60 version 3, Feature Pack 2)
    http://nds1.nokia.com/PRODUCT_METADATA_0/Explore_S ervices/Ovi_Maps/maps_installer_3.03_10wk1_b05_s6...
I tried all 3 versions of the sis install file, but none of them will install on my n96.
    Now what?

  • System error after installing 10.4.6 Update and J2SE 5.0 Release 4

    Hi,
I just installed OS X 10.4.6 update and J2SE 5.o Release 4 and the system doesn't start any more. I get a black screen which says:
[date] [my computer name] getty:/dev/console: Operation not supported by device
    Any suggestions?
I will try to start from CD (when I am home later), but first I need to eject the DVD, which is still in the drive. How to do this when the system does not start?
    Thanks,
    Ulrike

    Hi Ulrike,
I will try to start from CD (when I am home later),
but first I need to eject the DVD, which is still in
the drive. How to do this when the system does not
    start?
All CD/DVD drives that come installed in a Mac should allow you to eject the CD/DVD tray. Check your owner's manual--the instructions on how to eject the tray are usually given there. For example, on some PowerBook models you had to gently insert a paper clip into one side of the loading slot and push. On the DVD drive in my PowerMac there is a small hole through which I can instert a paper clip.
As for what is causing your problems, I don't know. From what I've gathered, however, installing the combo update (~140 megs) is more reliable than the incremental one (~60 megs). Booting from an external drive helps, too. You might try that.

  • Nokia Maps Upgrade and Traffic Alerts

My Nokia maps has started unexpectedly trying to pursuade me to upgrade , when in fact it seems it really might mean I think pay and re-authenticate. I think the software runs really well on my E71 but will not pay another £70 to keep using it. I might if it was an well needed upgrade, but what I have is great.
But what really irritates me is that a month or two back the system talked me into taking a years entitlement to traffic alerts which are somewhat dumb
( it doesn't take cogniscence of where you are being guided to other than in the list order, the alerts are out of date like all alerts in the UK radio/internet/road signs etc. and it doesn't even have the intelligence to realise that you are going north etc. when if gives you a pointless southbound alerts )
but what really irkes is they took a years worth of money for alerts on a software package with a month or two's lifetime. I would be happy to continue using the current version and not pay for the upgrade. Any solutions out there to continue using the present version and not take the upgrade ? ora route to take to get a refund on the alerts ?

Nokia do things the opposite way around to most sat-nav providers, instead of charging upfront for the software and updates, the software (which can be used for things other than sat-nav as radical says) is free and you buy a licence for sat-nav use to fund continuing development of the software.
Your phone came with a free trial - all GPD-equipped Nokias now have 3, 6 or 12 month free trials in most markets (the period depends on the model - 12 months for high-end phones like the N96,6 for Navigator-branded models like the 6210 and 3 for most others). I changed to Nokia Maps from the Windows-Mobile software "Destinator" because updates were getting hard to find. Nokia does at least keep its software up to date, and it is fast becoming a great package.
As for the traffic updates, these are dependent on the source information, and these services are still pretty much in their infancy because few people use them at present. The Nokia Maps application relays to you the information that it receives from third parties. As for your contention that it took a year's money for a short-life package, this is down to you. Why did you accept a year's subscription to traffic updates if you were not certain you would renew the navigation licence? It was your decision.

    Hi Nick,
Not certain what is causing the problem, but I do know that your phone needs to download maps, so you should connect using GPRS or Wifi to download the maps and then you should have maps for your locality, but you will need to connect again if you move outside of the locality. The best advise I would say is to get an internet add on for your phone so you won't be charged extra.
you may be able to download maps and load them on also. You may also need to turn off the network assisted GPS so you are only using the built in GPS not the internet to find where you are.

  • Nokia Maps Updates after January 1 2014?

    hi there,
as i still love the X7 (Symbian belle refresh) maps and navigation much more than that of my Lumia 620. I wonder if there will be updates of the maps after january 1?
Thanks if anyone understands more what the news mean for the updates of the maps.
    regards,
    X7Fan

What it will remain from Nokia once they will be bought by Microsoft? Who will keep update Symbian Maps?
If they will stop update Symbian Maps, Stephen Elop's malefic hand will lost Nokia Symbian customers for good...
IMHO, we will depend on Microsoft... And, probably, they will give a s..t about us, Symbian users. Like Elop/Microsoft does about Nokia.

  • Frequency / Accuracy of map updates, and who is re...

I was wondering who is responsible for updating the maps that are pushed out by Nokia to handsets through Ovi etc.  As in, is there a company that does road surveys to make sure that new roads are included or how does Nokia acquire this information?
The reason I ask is that there are new motorways in my area for the past year (or so) and they are not on Ovi maps yet.  It seems like a long time to wait for updates seeing as they are major road upgrades.  On the way to Cork also there is a large section of the N8 which is not on the map (which incidentally made me late for a funeral last week because I ended up missing a turn off over it).
Can anyone answer this?  The maps service is excellent otherwise and the fact that it is free is outstanding, but this little issue has been bugging me for ages!
    Thanks!

farby: The Maps are developed by Navteq.. and on an average updated every quarter..
So it used to be. But now it is almost half a year since the maps (used by OviMaps 3.03 and 3.04) were last updated.
I wonder if Nokia has dropped the support for older phones although they promised  free updates.

  • Nokia Software Update and Windows 7 Home Premium 6...

I cannot get this application to run - it goes nowhere on start-up. I have disabled both router firewall and Windows 7 firewall and still no luck. I have also tried instructions for task manager on the FAQS section of the website, and stopped background running.
I have a Nokia 6303i Classic, connected via USB and the latest driver.
I have installed latest version of Ovi Suite 2.2.0.245 and tried updating from there, and this does not work. It does sometimes get to the point of saying that I have Frimware 6.40 on the phone and need to update to firmware 7.10.
I have also tried latest version of PC Suite 7 and this starts Software Updater, which does not work anyway.
I have turned Game Mode on for BitDefender Antivirus 2010, and still no joy!
    What is going on??
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Go to manage games on BitDefender and add Nokia Ovi Suite. That worked for me. Also, are you in direct connection to the internet or are you accessing it via a server in a LAN network? Ovi Suite does not currently support those kinds of connections and you need to be in direct connection to the internet.
