Nokia N8 Broke.

Recently my N8 has not been showing me new messages, the 'You have 1 new message' notification has gone, both on the locked screen and the unlocked screen, and the envelope logo in the corner is not showing either. My message tone is not going off either. The only notification I get is the flickering light.
Now the screen freezes everytime i open a window and i cannot open the menu. I cannot also lock my phone succesfully,
Does anyone know how to fix this?

You could try a reset, or simply clearing some space on the phone memory, clear privacy data, delete some old messages and maybe any apps you don't actually use. If the phone is running short of memory it may be sruggling to operate properly !
If the space doesn't help, backup your contacts, calendar and note ONLY, then dial*#7370# followed by 12345 (if required) and the phone will reset to 'out of the box', then use Ovi suite to re-install the latest software available for your handset. You then need to manually set up the phone and re-install ant apps you've lost !
If this doesn't work only other solution is to take the N8 to a Nokia Care Point !
Good Luck

  • Sync from OVI Nokia Suite 3.8.48

My Nokia phone broke with all contacts on it, non on the SIM.
I have it dayly syncroniezed (bluetooth) with OVI but my last backup .nbu is from January this year.
Is there any way to get the contacts stored in the OVI suite back on my new phone?
    Thank you very much
    Matthias

My phone, a simple C2-1 is synced only with the OVI suite. All I care about are the contacts, about 430 and 40-50 added in the last half year.
    Thanks for helping

  • 'Contact Us' on Nokia not working (!) Can anybody ...

Hi everyone, this is the mail I wrote and would've like to send to Nokia support but the form won't submit, if anybody can shed any light or have some tips how to retrieve the album it'd be much appreciated...
"Good afternoon, I bought the compilation album below from Ovi Music Store:
'Ministry of Sound: The Annual 2011
    Various Artists - 63 songs
    Ministry of Sound, Oct 2010'
I downloaded the album to a replacement X6 handset as my original Nokia X6 broke during my last contract cycle. I have just upgraded through O2 and now have the Nokia N8, however, I am now unable to download the album to my new device. I remember reading some information regarding a cap on the number of times an album can be downloaded, however having only downloaded the album twice because of a broken Nokia handset I would find it unfair to be told I have hit a limit already? Please could you check if there is a fault on the account, my contact number is xxxxxxxxxx. I have receipts available to evidence the change of handset due to fault in the original Nokia X6 model I purchased the album on if required to amend the download state of the album.
    Kind regards"
.... I have logged on online and tried to access the album on the 'download history' but download icon missing there to - guessing they're saying I can download it at all again? I've never downloaded the album to any computers either so wouldn't like to think I've hit a limit?
    Thanks

  • HELP! Bluetooth audio not working on N82 and N95

Hi, I wanted to share I problem I constantly have with A2DP on my Nokias.
I had a N95 and I bought the Motorola S9 for them. They worked well on the first pairing but when turning them off and on later, the connection would fail, so I had to delete the connection and pair them up again.
But when I updated the firmware the things stopped working at all. They woud pair up but the connection would instantly be dropped.
Later I bought a N82 with the latest firmware and had the same problem. So i guessed that definitely Nokia phones and Motorola headsets were not meant to work together.
But recently I bought a car radio from Pioneer with AD2P and have been experiencing the exact same problem, both with the N82 and the N95.
As of today, I haven’t found a single non-Nokia AD2P device that works with Nokia phones. Has anyone experienced these problems? I have searched a lot online for a solution and nothing…
The exact problem is: I make the phone look for my bluetooth device, it finds it, I input the code, and then it says "Connected to XXX" (whatever accesory im trying to pair) and INSTANTLY I'll get another message "Disconnected from XXX"... and that's it.
BTW... the bluetooth connection works perfectly with all my PCs and other phones, and never drops. It's happening only with audio devices.
Ps: I also have a HTC Windows Mobile Phone and it works brilliantly with both the Pioneer car stereo and the Motorola S9! So that rules out problems with my audio devices. I think it's definitely a problem in Nokia's latest firmwares for N95 and N82.
    HELP!!!
    Thanks!

    Hi friedbrains...
Thanks for your help... I deleted all pairings on the phone and the S9, and then used the *#9990# trick you told me...
I managed to pair the phone and the headset... I listened to music for a while, and everything went ok... But when I turned off the S9 and then on again, the problem came back...
I got a "Connected to Motorola S9" message, instantly followed by "Disconnected from Motorola S9". I tried to connect manually to the headset and got the "Unable to connect to bluetooth device" error.
So, the excitement was prety short-lived
As a side note, I was browing some Pioneer support forums (makers of the car stereo that also refuses to work with my N82) and they explicitly recommend not upgrading the firmware in N95 or N82 to be able to use them with the stereo.
So, I'm guessing there's no more confirmation needed that Nokia actually BROKE bluetooth compatibility with 3rd party accesories with the latest N-series firmware. I find this very strange!!! Do they only want us to use Nokia stuff with our Nokia phones? (My friends Nokia bluetooth headset works beautifully with my phone)
I hope someone from Nokia reads these things... We want bluetooth compatibility back!!!!
Thanks again to everyone... if you have any other stuff I can try, I'll appreciate it

  • Nokia 6300 screen suddenly broke

Yesterday my Nokia 6300 screen broke - weirldy it was doing nothing more than sitting on a table in the shade at the time. It was neither dropped, bashed, dunked in water, shaken violently, microwaved, abducted by aliens nor anything else that might be bad for a mobile phone. I've had the phone for only one month, and tried to fix it by switching it off and on, taking the battery out and putting it back in again. The screen is covered in lines and unusable. Has anyone else had this sort of problem with a 6300 (or similar) mobile phone?

Hello, with my Nokia 6300 (which I love) the screen suddenly went weird, it has horizontal coloured lines on it and screen is orange coloured. It is unusable but every now and then it comes good for a few minutes and is like nothing had happened. It still works fine but I cannot read the screen so is unuseable. I did have it in my pocket at the time but my pants were not tight and I am sure I did not bang or bump it. If it is the screen cracked why would it work fine occasionally. Also our nearest Nokia centre is 3 hours drive away.

  • Nokia 6280 volume button broke

i have a nokia 6280 and the volume switch as broke on side and can not turn it up,ive taken it apart and little sensor inside as broke.Does anyone know a way to turn it up using the menu?

First you have a 2 year warranty on the handset, Have you had the phone for more than 2 years?
If you haven't you could have took it to your local Nokia repair centre to repair it under it's warranty.
But you've took it apart so the warranty has been voided.
The only way to repair it now is to take it into a normal repair shop.
If you can turn the volume down then press the up button to turn it up

  • Address Book: 10.4.3 broke SMS for Nokia 6600 and Moto Razr

After upgrading to Mac OS X 10.4.3 I could not send SMS
messages or dial when paired to my Nokia 6600, button turns blue.
This feature worked fine with 10.3.3, at least iSync still works...
Also with a new Motorola Razr, I could sync but couldn't
connect with Address Book, the Bluetooth button does not
even turn blue. Needless to say that it is not possible to
    send SMS or dial.
My bluetooth software and firmware is up to date and I am
using the Apple built-in Bluetooth interface
    Apple support, please help!
    Thank you,

Exact same problem here with my Razr V3.
It's disappointing that the phone is featured in a photo on the iSync page, but is not supported in Address Book.
    Take a peek at Address Book.app/Contents/Resources/Telephony.Bundle/Contents/Resources/ABDeviceCommand Sets.plist .
So, who knows the proper strings for the Razr V3? I wonder if they can be pulled from BluePhoneElite. .

  • Nokia Lumia Black update broke volume key function...

Since I updated my Lumia 1020 to Nokia Lumia Black, the volume keys stop working while the phone is playing music from time to time.
It doesn't happen right after selecting the song or album, but after a while I try to + or - the volume and I see the volume indication on top of the screen going up or down, but the volume remains the same. If I stop the music and select another song it works again. So it has to do with continuous playing.
I have seen this issue reported in several other posts here and other websites, please tell me you are working on this. I can't believe my Lumia 1020, a VERY expensive phone and Nokia's flagship cannot change music volume with its dedicated keys.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Apparently after a soft reset the issue is no longer present.
I will keep trying it anyway since I have read that other people could not fix it with a soft reset.

  • Nokia 5610 - Music Slider Key broke off

I have nokia 5610 and by regular use its Music Slider Key has been broken off. I went to Nokia care center and got the response that this part is not available yet in market. Can any one please let me know if nokia provide any support for this?

I'm very upset with Nokia: when I took mine to their Tech Support in Lisbon, to have the slider changed, they accused me of "abusing Nokia" and of having carelessly treated the phone (the phone is new and in pristine conditions). The response was that if it was a problem with the phone they would have known - apparently by reading the posts in this forum this phone has many shell and plastic problems. What's worst, they were very rude!
I went afterwards to Vodafone (where I bought it) that confirmed it was a common default and they told me it would be repaired under warranty.
How does it that an operator knows more about phones (and is more polite) then the maker?

  • Nokia N95 Ovi Theme broke my phone

  • Be Very Careful When Choosing to use Nokia Care sy...

Up until the weekend of November 23rd, I had nothing but praise for Nokia after choosing their Nokia Lumia 720 Windows 8 Phone. I was wary of going with WP8 as it was less supported by third party software for apps compared with iOS and Android, but its functionality impressed me for its entry range standing as a model.
That weekend, after a series of Application and a phone update, the screen started experiencing issues with random movements of the screen making it unusable. Both soft resetting and resetting to factory defaults failed to resolve the issue, so on Monday November 25th, I contacted Nokia Care LIVE Chat via the support website to see if there was anything they could suggest to resolve the problem.
They advised me to take it to my locla registered Nokia Care Point, which was right near the train station I use to go to and from work, which I did the next day. Left the phone with them and was told to come back in an hour. I returned and they had managed to fix that issue, they had reloaded the phone's firmware and software to an "in the box" level, and for good measure replaced the screen and the speaker inside. I could not have been more happy with the service, it was quick and more then I could have hoped for.
Then sadly, during setting up the phone to use as it had been wiped, I noticed that the command buttons at the bottom of the phone were no longer lighting up as they had done before. I then noticed that the camera was not working, front or back, it was not being recognised by the phone and all I had was a back screen. I called the Nokia Care point and told them, they said no problem just bring it back and they will sort it. I did the next day, same thing, left the phone with them for an hour but this time, returned to the shop to be told "there is lots wrong with the phone, we need to send it back to Nokia and it could take one to two weeks to come back.
So my phone went in with one issue, not fixed 100%, returned to me broken and told "its all good" then within 24 hours my phone is made even more broken, so broken the registered and certified Nokia Care Point are unabe to correct the faults they made, and need to send it off for a full repair or replacement under the warranty.
Sounds simple doesnt it?  I took in a faulty phone, whcih was then made even more faulty by the Nokia Care Point, so when I contacted Nokia Care by LIVE Chat to say that I was unhappy with losing my phone, which was under warranty, for up to two weeks because of a botched repair attempt by their own certified Care Point and asked if I could have a replacement.
Then it got really messy. Was told that even though its under warranty, no replacement could be issued until the main repair centre had assessed the phone, check to see if they coud repair it, now for a 3rd time in seven days, before a decision would be made about if a replacement was justified. Even though it was their own Care Point which broke the phone requiring them to look at it in the first place. I was told to give it 48hrs for them to recieve the phone, which I did and contacted them on the Friday only to be told that my phone had not reached them yet.
Monday comes and I get a phone call from the Nokia Care Complaints team, which my case and complaint had been forwarded onto, telling me that my phone has yet to be assessed by the engineers. So no work had been done on the phone at all, so no decision could be made about a replacement. Tuesday ( today ) I get another call and this time the phone has been looked at but apparantly they are now waiting for a part for the phone, with no eta of delivery time, I repeat my request to have a replacement phone, saying that it should not be me as the customer that has to keep being patient for Nokia Care to rectify an issue with my phone that they created in the first place and that the very least they can do is offer me a replacement so I can carry on as normal whilst they sort out how the repair went so wrong in the first place, aso that the compensation offer of a £10 Nokia Music voucher for a service that is already free to Lumia users and then the offer of a bluetooth headset which the 720 doesnt have was equally pointless and that they should do better. Was told they would put the request in but again cant make a promise it will happen.
An hour a go I took a phonecall from the Nokia Complaints team asking me, which is redundant as I have no choice in the matter, to give them 24-48 hrs for them to complete they investigation or review of my case, so thar brings it to the end of this week meaning any replacement or return of a refitted repaired phone wont happen till at least next week, taking it to two weeks of not having a working phone since taking it to them on the 26th November.
So far, I have never been made to feel more worthless and valueless as a customer by any company whose products or services I have used. From the point at which my phone was made even worse by a failed repair by a certified and registered Nokia Care point to the utter nonsense of endless Nokia Care Customer service which hides behind policies designed to protect Nokia rather then the customer when it comes to repairs and faults.
I am left with no faith in any part of the Nokia Care system from the Care Points, to the service you receive via LIVE Chat on the Nokia Support site to using their Twitter support via @Nokiahelps to even speaking with their non UK Call centres. I have no faith that I will get a replacement phone even though the phone will have had so many new parts it might as well have just replaced instead of multiple repair and software reloads in the two weeks the phone will be out of my posession (factoring in the next week as I dont expect to see it returned or replaced)
I say to anyone looking to use Nokia Care, which your phone still in warranty, especially in the UK, is to go through the network provider your contract is with rather then direct with Nokia Care. I have encountered nothing but poor service and atrocious customer care in every regards for a problem that was originally a fault due to software updates but led to the Care Point taking the phone apart and creating new faults, something which Nokia Care still wont accept is a viable reason to replace the phone.
If you do have your phone repaired in a Nokia Care Point, make sure you test every aspect of the phone before you leave, but I suggest sending back via your contract provider. I hope what I have been through and continue to go through with this experience of Nokia's idea of Care, is enough warning to others and that no one else suffers similar issues.
    Regards
A No longer happy with Nokia Customer

Same here I have Lumia 920, 3 days after I bought it the device had an overheating problem and once the phone is off, I have to work hard to turn it on again, from soft resetting and hard resetting it After that I brought the phone to Nokia Care Center (I'm Indonesian by the way) in the NCC Branch in my province. 2 days after that, they told me that the problem was solved and asked me to take the phone. When I got there and the Costumer Service want to give me the phone, she try to turn on the phone, but she can't. She take the phone to a room (I don't know maybe it's the repairman room or whatever) and when she got out she told me that the problem is still exist and they will brought my phone to the NCC Center in other province. I have to wait for 2 weeks. Can you believe it? 2 weeks WITHOUT ANY PHONE? I have to buy another low-end phone that time.
After that the phone back to normal, But Then another problem come, after update my phone to Amber, my phone can't use Nokia Pro Cam (at that time, before Nokia Camera out), Bing Vision, Maps, Glance Screen, Auto Rotate, and GAMES. at first I just have to restart the phone to turn it back, but then the problem is not solved after I restart, even then, I did a hard reset but the problem is still there. Last friday, I brought my phone to the Nokia Care Center, they asked to take it the next day, but AGAIN! The problem is not solved, and they said I have to wait until the newest software update to come so the problem can be solved. Today, still no news or information from them, I don't know if I can trust Nokia Care Center again after this

  • Nokia stands by their product !

I am a new Nokia mobile phone owner. I have a three year contract with Rogers I began my contract with an LG slider. For unexplained reasons the screen broke although it was in a protective case and had a screen protector on it. I must say that I am truely not happy with the service I got from LG the cost of repair and having it sent back to me was the same cost that I would have paid for the phone if I was not on contract $200 canadian !!! Good greif !! Not a cost that I had at the time to pay so I told them to keep it or trash it do whatever with it-at this time they proceeded to tell me that I had to pay them $25 to trash the phone. I was not impressed.
So in search of another phone that would be compatible with the Rogers SIM card I went and came upon the Nokia 2680.  I dont know what happened but the phone just shut off and would not turn back on.  I called Nokia and they asked questions and done some troubleshooting methods.  My problem unresolved, they are honoring thier product and have asked me to send it back for repairs.
I can say I am happy that a company, Nokia, stands by their product and is their to please their customer. I will be looking forward to updating my phone to a Nokia brand sometime in the future my 2680 will do me for now, i see a N86 or N97 in my future.
    Way to go Nokia!!!!!

    1. The LG phone you were reffering to probably would have cost you at least $400+ ro buy outright without a contract and since a broken screen is not a manufacturing or design defect there is no reason why is should have been covered by warranty.
    2.  I wouldn't really a company like Nokia fixing your phone under warranty outstanding customer service.  The phone had a problem, it was NOT due to physical damage as your LG was so it is just proper everyday way of doing business and I would expect no less from any company.
    3. I have been a HUGE fan of all Nokia products since my first Nokia 2128 in 1994 and have owned no other brands since then.  You mentioned a N86 or N97 possible in your future.  Go with the N86, the N97 is absolute garbage and Nokia WILL NOT stand behind this product.  Search this forum if you want to see the endless list of complants that mostly have to do with the hugely underpowered processor, insufficient amount of available memory (RAM) and the terribly buggy firmware (operating system)  I contacted Nokia about this phone, explained to them that i was a loyal customer who has owned 13 previous Nokia phones that I was completely happy with and then expressed my disappointment with the N97.  The only answer they could give me was to send the phone in for repair and that N97 customers have "preffered service" which means they pay for shipping both ways instead of 1 way.  I am sure the reason for the preffered treatment is because Npokia is aware of all of the issues this phone has and it is a tiny attempt to calm the masses about what a terrible phone this is. I bought my phone directly from Nokia USA but am currently working on a project in Canada which will have me here for 2 more years.  I asked them about the shipping and they said I have to bay for shipping BOTH WAYS and there were no exceptions.  I explained that I am not the only one haveing a lot of issues with this phone and they could look on this site if they want proof and the answer I got was "those are all users in Canada and this phone is not designed for use in Canada"  ???? **bleep**???  It is a GSM phone with world wide coverage AND it is sold by Bell Mobility in Canada!  I explained that sending it in for repair will not fix anything because the problem is inherent to the phone, not specific to my particular phone and requested that they at least pay for shipping back to me and I would pay the shipping to the service center.  The answer was NO.
Nokia has no regard for a loyal customer.  They sell phones world wide but do not have an international warranty.  They wil sell you a phone that will work in almost any country in the world, but they will only service it in the country you bought it in.  I was told that if I sent it in to the Canadian service depot they would not service it because "they would not even know  how to fix it"  Why?  This phone is sold in Canada, they certainly should know how to service it.  If you buy a laptop from most companies they have an international warranty because they know you are likely to travel with your laptop, surely Nokia must know that their customers will travel with their phones, why else would they put in international frequencies when they could get away with only the local ones and the phone would work where it is sold.
So trust me Nokia are no angels when it comes to customer service, they are just a huge company that will sell you their most expensive phone, and an extended warranty but not care much beyond standard warranty issues.  They will not even provide a loaner even though they are aware that the product is a LEMON!.  If the N97 were a car it would have been recalled months ago.
I WILL be sendin my N97 in for repair as soon as I purchase a suitable Android based phone or possibly the 4th generation iPhone, but NEVER another Nokia phone.  I am probably even going to get rid of my collection of almost every Nokia i have ever purchased, i am that disappointed with their service.
