Nokia PC Suite vs Nseries PC Suite.

Hi All,
I am regular user of Nokia PC Suite, when i came across N Series PC Suite, i thought of trying to use N Series PC Suite too. I just wanna know the more detailed Information technically what are the major differences between these two also which is better, as my phone is a N Series handset. I am amazed to see that Nseries PC Suite dont have an option to send Messages whereas in Nokia PC Suite messages can be sent. If Nseries PC Suite is better why even such an important feature which is available in Nokia PC suite is not there in Nseries PC Suite? May be like these reasons, people are continuing with Nokia PC Suite instead of Nseries PC Suite. One more thing i heard ( Not sure if it is true or not) that by updating Phone Software thru NSU, data wont be erased? Is it true, because i dont want to lose my data on my phone but i want to update my phone software on my handset. I can't fully rely on Content Copier too, as i have seen so many posts related to NSU/ Backup and Restore options. So if its true that my data wont be erased while updating my phone software thru NSU, i will be happy to update my phone software. Expecting some positive posts from anyone of you !

Nseries PC Suite is based on the same core PC Suite, but with a slightly different look and feel + some original PC Suite applications overriden/replaced or removed with new ones (e.g., in favour of Lifeblog).
NSeries PC Suite does not automatically preseve your phone's data from updating the firmware any better than the "regular" PC Suite does.

  • There is an incompatible version of Nokia PC Suite...

    Hi,
    I just installed Nokia OVI Suite for my N97 and after reboot my PC, i tried to open OVI Suite but it gave me following error;
"There is an incompatible version of Nokia PC Suite installed on your PC. Please, uninstall it, or upgrade to recent version of Nokia PC suite.
Then re-install Nokia Ovi Suite(PC Connectivity SOLUTİON 8.15)"
Then I uninstalled all Nokia PC SUite and OVI and only installed OVI and reboot the PC again I got same error even I don't have PC  Suite anymore.
Then I installed latest version of PC Suite and reboot the PC and again I got the same error.
    I'm using Win XP Prof 2002 SP3.
Can you help me how can I fix this problem?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    It all depends on you
What applications you want to use does matters here
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=pcsuite&message.id=31544#M31544
Now we have a lot of expectations in Nokia OVI Suite 2.0 which is in betalabs
    Our expectation is
Nokia OVI Suite 2.0 = Nokia PC Suite 7.1.30.9 + Nokia NSeries PC Suite 1.x version + Nokia OVI Suite 1.1x version.
As of now, Nokia OVI Suite 2.0 is on nokia.com/betalabs.  Once Nokia OVI Suite 2.0 is LIVE, there wont be any other desktop applications, which will do all other existing pc suites of Nokia does.....
If you are still intrested in Nokia OVI Suite 2.0, you can check this application in Nokia betalabs.... It will do more than what current PC suites of Nokia does

  • Nokia pc suite vs nokia n series pc suite!

hello, which is better for n95?nokia pc suite or nseries pc suite?i woul appreciate your opinion on that.thanks

Ive just given the N series one an install and they appear virtually identical in terms of functionality although the N series one does have a much nicer user interface.

  • N-Series PC Suite vs Nokia PC Suite

    Hi,
Within these pages I have ascertained that I can overcome a Backup problem I have (0x80100013 being issued by N-Series Content Copier) by using the Nokia PC Suite.
I have the following question about this.
    1.) What's the difference between the 2?
2.) Can I install both on my desktop?
3.) If I use the Nokia PC suite to backup, will I loose any data when I issue a restore?
4.) Does the N-Series content copier give m any additional functionality?
Not too many questions. I do hope that someone knows the answers.
    Many thanks.
    Jim

    Hi ,
There is nothing wrong is having both NSeries and Nokia PC Suite installed on your PC. Difference lies mainly in the application they provide, like Nokia PC Suite will have phone browser applicatin. Contacts and Messaging where as in NSeries PC Suite you wont get those options. In NSeries PC Suite, they have applications like Home Media Serverl orb etc which nokia pc suite does not have. If you want to backup some data (hope you are backing up x phone data and trying to restore on x phone and not y phone), it is always better to backup one application at a time like contacts alone or calender alone. Even while restoring, better restore one by one. Because we have came across differnt users complainging that after firmware update, i tried to restore the backuped data but it goes well after x% it doesnot restore and applications halts for ages and no improvement If you want to go for Contacts and Messaging option, on your own risk you can try Nokia Communication centre which is on Nokia Beta labs..

  • Nokia Ovi Suite has lost connection with your devi...

5 months has passed and many hours on the phone to Nokia. The phone has been completely reset /reboot by Nokia time and time again and still the phone gets this message when trying to update software..."Nokia Ovi Suite has lost connection with your device"....We were optimistic that the software upgrade would solve the other problems we are having with all the Nokia phones at work. They are all E52's

Having the same issue currently with an E72 software version is 054.005.266.02 and Ovi Suite 3.1.1.80
Actually I had connection lost all the time with all previous versions of Ovi Suite too... it has never been reliable.
Using original Nokia USB cable, connected securely. Tried different PCs, different USB ports, same issue.
Just now I'm trying software update and it looses connection during the backup process all the time... very disappointing. Screenshot attached if anybody is interested.

Uninstall Ovi and re-download from Nokia web. Reinstalled Ovi Suite but that didn't work.
I then uninstalled all Ovi and all Nokia related software, cleaned Registry and reinstall Ovi Suite: Failed to fix.
Then I installed Nokia PC Suite 7.1.40.1 which worked just fine with 5800 XM (RM-356 V. 51.0.006). I had no problems making backups or to synchronize.

    How to solve this problem?

    LOL
I just tried Nokia Ovi Suite again to copy the full error report that it sends to Microsoft.... lo and behold it started to work again?????

Made a complete backup on my phone.
Installed Nokia Software Updater and I reinstall the latest FW 51.0.006 to my phone.
Then I organized my content for a few minutes.
Shut down Nokia PC Suite and Nokia Software Updater.
    Started up Nokia Ovi Suite.
Connected my phone and clicked on PC-Suite on the options.
    It now works again????
Something happened when I installed PC Suite that enabled me to use my Nokia 5800 with Ovi Suite again.

  • Satellite U300-130 - TosBtMng has stopped working after Nokia PC Suite installation

I've got the same problem too... with Toshiba Satellite U300-130.
Bluetooth had worked pretty well before I installed Nokia PC Suite for my mobile on my PC (the newest version 7.1.26.0 from website).
To be correct, at first I even managed to maintain a Bluetooth connection between PC and Nokia and ran syncronisation of contacts. I made several attempts but each time syncronisation run ended with message "PC coudn't get answer from your Nokia".
After rebooting, my PC went crazy and started issuing message "TosBtMng has stopped working" and it restarted every time I ask it to close.
Installation of new version of BT Stack (6.40) didn't fix this error.
    Please help

    Hi there
I answered an existing thread with the same problem, but no-one can help apparently.
Anyway,,, I can at least help you with getting rid of the looping setup. You need to rename the directory with the Toshiba bluetooth stack.
I also have Nokia syncing and it worked fine until recently. - I have to say I think the problem relates to a Windows auto upgrade.
How to solve this is a different matter. At this moment I have given up. The Toshiba bluetooth stack disabled.

  • How to use single installation of Nokia Ovi Suite ...

I want to help my adult son set up his (different model-) Nokia Smartphone.
How to use the Nokia Ovi Suit already installed for a different user?

    Hey,
If i hav understood ur issue correctly, u want to share the same nokia ovi suite(Contacts, Messages, Calendar and tasks etc) of ur entire family with single nokia ovi suite? If my understaning is wrong, please do correct/educate me.
AFAIK, nokia ovi suite does not work the same way how pc suite works at least when it comes to PIM sync like Contacts, Messages, calendar and tasks etc.,
In case of PC Suite, u can connect more than a device and u can sync/store messages/contacts/calendar etc separately and u can switch to the next device, there is no dedicated database to store any of ur data, if u r synching with pc suite.
In case of Ovi Suite, it has got a database where it stores user's info in a database, so u cannot sync multiple phone's data with single nokia ovi suite.
If this is what u xpct from our forum, read my signature and do the needful
If my post helped you, click on Kudos button and if my solution provided is opt 2 u, accpt my solution

  • 6280, 6230 and Nokia PC Suite - no calendat sync

I am using version 6.81.13.0 of PC Suite on a late-model Dell 9300 notebook. I connect using a Nokia CA-53 USB cable supplied with my 6280 phone. The PC is running Windows XP Professional SP2 with all available Microsoft patches.
Until recently, I was using a Nokia 6230 phone and an older version of PC Suite. The calendar was sent from the PC to the phone with no problem at all, and I could always refer to my phone to check my calendar. This connection used Bluetooth.
When my new 6280 arrived, I loaded the PC Suite software from the 6280 CD. The software immediately demanded an update from the Nokia website, which I downloaded and installed. After a couple of successful bluetooth connections, suddenly neither phone would sync with Outlook.
Very soon after that, no Bluetooth connection would work at all, and I resorted to the USB cable. With the USB cable, the phones communicate with the Sync software, but no data is sent to either phone. I have removed the software, used the Nokia PC Suite Cleaner, reinstalled, created new profiles and tried every single option, but the system simply will not sync.
Can anyone help? By upgrading my phone, I have lost my sync facility altogether.
Here's the system info from PC Suite:
    Operating system:
    Microsoft Windows XP
    Build 2600
    Service Pack 2
    Language: English (United States)
Language for non-Unicode programs: English (United States)
    Locale: English (United Kingdom)
    Input language: English (United Kingdom)
    Nokia PC Suite:
    Version 6.81.13.0
    Language: English
    Connectivity Cable Drivers:
    Version 6.81.1.2
    Microsoft Outlook:
    Version 11.0
    Build 8010
    Bluetooth stacks:
    Microsoft Bluetooth stack
    Version 5.1.2600.2180
    WIDCOMM Bluetooth stack
    Version 4.0.1
    Build 2401

The difficulties people with XP SP 2 (with Microsoft Bluetooth) and any other Bluetooth(like Widcomm) are having, is really sad.
YOu can try to run arepair to PC Suite and Nokia Connecitivty solution from add/remove programs and see if that helps.
Also check that is the Bluetooth software you are using (I cannot tell by looking at your list), is working with the phone.
    Last resort:
I can only suggest that you start from scrach, uninstall the widcomm, Pc Suite and Connectivity solution, run Pc suite cleaner and reinstall PC Suite(includes the connectivity solution).

  • Bluetooth no longer works after Nokia PC Suite Upd...

I am afraid I have a problem. I have a Nokia 6085 and Nokia PC Suite on my computer that worked just great until I updated now the Bluetooth is no longer available so I can't connect to my phone.
    Phone - Nokia 6085
Computer - Windows XP SP3 Notebook
Bluetooth Stack - Windows (Version: 5.1.2600, Build: 5512)
    PC Suite - Version 7.1.40.1

Greetings to all as this is my first post here.
I faced today the same problem with my N95 and the latest PC Suite update (7.1.40.1.).
After checking that my BT earpiece works OK and also no problems with a USB cable between my laptop and the N95, I suspected immediately the update version.
I downloaded an earlier version from : http://download.cnet.com/Nokia-PC-Suite/3000-10440_4-10598525.html and after installing this PC Suite 7.1.30.9 version, the BT worked again flawlessly as before.

  • Nokia PC Suite support for Outlook and Thunderbird

    Hi,
I am currently using the Microsoft Outlook 2007 combined with Nokia PC Suite to synchronize the contents of the Outlook with my Nokia N73 smartphone. I am now considering to switch e-mail client from Microsoft Outlook to the Mozilla Thunderbird. So my question is then, is Nokia PC Suite compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird?
I have in fact already installed Thunderbird, but it is not available as an option anywhere in the settings for Nokia PC Suite. All I can find in the Nokia PC Suite settings is a tab called "Microsoft Outlook" where I can choose the different Outlook profiles or change settings. In my humble opinion there should be a new tab added called "Thunderbird" or similar right next to the "Microsoft Outlook" tab in the settings for Nokia PC Suite after installing another e-mail client such as the Mozilla Thunderbird.
I know that there is this option to choose what e-mail client to use upon installing Nokia PC Suite, where I have chosen Outlook. Does this mean that I have to reinstall Nokia PC Suite to get this choice to choose e-mail client to use? If I do reinstall Nokia PC Suite, will I even get to this option at all? Since I am only reinstalling Nokia PC Suite and it is already configured once to be used with Outlook, I'm thinking that maybe this option will not even appear upon reinstalling Nokia PC Suite.
I don't have a clear memory of it but I think I once reinstalled Nokia PC Suite for some reason and I was not presented with this option to choose e-mail client as the first time I installed it. So this may require complete uninstallation and deletion of files and Windows registry for Nokia PC Suite, and then a fresh installation of it to get to this window where to choose e-mail client.
Even when and if I get to that window, it's no guarantee that I will be able to choose Thunderbird even thou it's installed. Why? Because I know from experience that commercial and proprietary software like Nokia PC Suite tends to only support the industry standard platforms and systems and applications, or de-facto industry standards like the extensively used Microsoft Outlook and other Microsoft products. I know by experience that such software as Nokia PC Suite love to lick Microsoft's **bleep**. Don't you think?... or don't you know? You disagree? Well lay it on me, tell me what you think!
I would love to be able to synchronize my mobile phone with my computer, even if I may use a Linux or other nix-like operating system. But if Nokia PC Suite doesn't even support e-mail clients other then Microsoft Outlook, such as the Thunderbird, then it's probably too much to ask for a Linux support for Nokia PC Suite. Or is it?... does Nokia PC Suite support Linux?...

    Thanks for your answers!
By this time I have made a clean install of Windows Vista at least three times, and on one occasion I remembered to check this this thesis of mine that I mentioned above. So for the purpose of testing if it's true that the Nokia PC Suite installation process or Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard does not present the user with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as e-mail client, I have done the following.
I have made a completely clean, out of the box installation of Windows Vista on the computer (retail version, non-custom branded Vista version). After installing the needed and important drivers for the system and other software required for the proper operation of the system and few other software, I went on installing Microsoft Office with Outlook 2007 as one of the first software applications. Then I installed Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird. After I had done that, I installed the Nokia PC Suite.
As my thesis predicted, after successfully installing Nokia PC Suite and the Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard was started, I was not presented with the option to choose Mozilla Thunderbird as my e-mail client, even thou both Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird were installed prior to or before Nokia PC Sync. In other words, if this was a limitation of the Nokia PC Suite or it's installer, where it does not recognize e-mail clients that are installed after Nokia PC Suite itself, then installing the e-mail clients in this order should make Nokia PC Suite recognize it. But it did not, or at least as long as the Mozilla Thunderbird is concerned. Thus, this proves my thesis - Nokia PC Suite is currently not compatible with Mozilla Thunderbird. And Mobile Sensei Petrib confirms this also.
Here follows a screenshot of the actual Nokia PC Sync configuration wizard.

I'm afraid we will have to bear with this. I personally don't believe that there will ever be any official release of Nokia PC Suite that will have full support (or any at all) for other e-mail clients then just Microsoft Outlook and Lotus, or that there will be any official Linux or nix-like version of it. Not today, not in next five years, and not in one thousand light-years from today. We can hope, but the odds are pointing in the opposite direction.
So bear with Microsoft Outlook, and the Windows **bleep**. No pay, no play! Unfortunately... fortunate for Microsoft, Nokia, and others alike, but unfortunate for us end users.

  • Nokia 6630 - Nokia PC Suite Support Update

Hi to everyone out there to help me,
Few weeks ago, I updated my phone software and after that, I found out that I could view old messages and send new ones from my pc. I loved that feature, but didn't use it often. As I wanted to use it again today, I couldn't... I can view my contacts, calender entries, but cannot view my messages. I can send new ones though...
An error occurs as I connect my phone to my pc (via cable), which I had beforehand too I guess. It's not English, so I will translate it myself:
    "Nokia PC Suite
In order to make your phone support new features, the PC Suite support on your phone has to be updated.
Would you like to update the PC Suite support on your cell phone (Nokia 6630)?"
    - I click on the green tick.
A quick dissapearing window pops up... It's hard to tell what appears even on my own language xD:
    "Installing...
Accept all upcoming approvals on your phone"
Then in 1-2 seconds the message changes into:
     "PC Suite support installation failed"
    - I click on the green tick, the only option.
Well, as I said before, besides that I am unsure, this problem existed beforehand, and I could view my messages even like that.
I tried repairing the Nokia PC Suite, after I send this message I will uninstall and install it once... I will update the situation...

    Date: 2011 Jan 03
    Nokia 6630 (RM-1)
    Firmware version
    Current: 5.03.08
Update (as of date above): 5.03.08
    Nokia Software Updater ver: 2.6.6en
    Connection via Nokia DKU-2 USB
I have exactly same problem as you described:
    PC Suite (7.1.51.0)
    message box displays:
The PC Suite support installed on your phone must be updatedto support new features.
Do you want to udpadte PC Suite support on your cell phone (Nokia 6630)?
    [green tick <yes> ] [red X <no>  ]
    InstalLing
[Accept all possible installation requests on your phone
    PC Suite support installation failed
    < green tick > ]
As this goes on a banner momentarilydisplays on the phone, it is an Icon and the name "INSTALLER"
    this  happens twice
    then finally,
    PC Suite support instalation failed
    On the phone i see:
       Tools->Manager-->
            (App. Manager)
             PC_Suite_Sup (70kb)
             Version 1.7.0
On its status, it says it is NOT INSTALLED
So I select the option to install it but when I view the details again its status still says NOT INSTALLED.
I go on and Select REMOVE and it is dutifully removed from the list.
I coldboot the phone and upon verifying that it is not on the app manager list. I restart PC Suite and go through the procedures above (Install PC Suite support) and again it ends up with pc suite installation failed.
Checking on the appmanager, it reappears on the list. but it is NOT INSTALLED as per its status.
I'm thinking perhaps if there was an app (PC SUITE SUPPORT) i can download and install via PC SUite then perhaps that would solve the problem, but I've grown weary (leary?) of trawling Nokia's site(s) for it as I've ended up with zilch thus far.
Any one out there that can help? Someone from Nokia would be nice ...
Ihope i get notification of replies ...

  • Nokia PC Suite 6.86 is now available!

    Hello All,
Nokia Has Just released The New Nokia PC Suite 6.86.
    Download It Now:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4144903
    Nokia 5530 Xpress Music RM-504
    v30.0.009
    31-5-10

6.86 installation is a lottery. I had it installed on WinXP Professional, 32bit, w/o service pack (laptop) but it won't install on exact the same system, on desktop.
I have absolutely no idea, what could be the problem (and I don't care, since my personal laptop is running Slackware )
    Best regards!
