Nokia - Voice Dialling

Has anyone had complete (100%) success with the voice dialling (recognition) feature on the new Nokia phones. I have used voice dialling for many years now in my car with a Nokia Bluetooth Car Kit but with the system in the older Nokia phones where you (pre) recorded the persons name you wanted to dial. I am very disappointed with the system now employed by Nokia where the 'system' recognises, or doesn't, as is more the case. My N82 with its synthesised system just seems to dial random numbers, whereas before (using my last phone which was a Nokia 6230i) I achieved complete success.
I would welcome a response from Nokia, as to why they have changed what was a very very good system.

History: Always Nokia since 1994 including Nokia 2140, 7110e, 6150, 6210, 6310i, 6230i, N82
Current: Nokia N8 (Anna - I have no intention of going to Belle) - and delighted with it!

I use the "new" voice dialing regularly and I´m very satisfied with it. Even though when the names are too short or similar it might not recognize it or call someone else...
Since I have names stored in different languages and my base language is german, forces me to pronounce names in a very funny way for it to to work. For instance "James" has to be pronounced "Iamess" to work...
By clicking the "Kudos!" or the "Solution?" button on the right you can say "Thank You" and you´ll show the author and others that the post is useful.

  • Nokia 6700 Classic Voice DIalling Tags

I have just puchased a Nokia 6700 as a modern replacement to my faithful still functioning but somewhat battered 6230i. However I find that it seems that you can no longer attribute voice tags to individual entries for use in my handsfree car kit.
One seems to have rely upon the voice recognition software which, perhaps possibly because of my Somerset English accent, seems to have a zero success rate. For a handsfree kit having some options is not suitable and to me defeats the whole object of voice dialling. Is anyone aware of a software downgrade to take what is a really nice package back to something that is as useable as my previous 6230i?
    Any help would be appreciated

Voice commands is a little different to the old Voice tags. Some people say the South African accent works best but there are ways around that.
First use the Playback option in the Voice Command menu to playback what the phone thinks each command should sound like. You should issue the commands as closely as possible to that. That was how I started and the phone seems to have learnt my accent now because nowadays it works almost all the time in my normal accent.

  • My new updated N73(ME)has problem with Voice Diall...

    Hellow to every one,
I ve just take my N73 from NOKIA service center, after 2 months im waiting for. The 1st problem was that after the latest firmware update my phone doesnt start at all. The 2nd problem was and still is that the voice dialling never works. My contacts have a nick each and are stored at phones memory. At service center says that every problem was fixed and for that they send my phone from Greece (where i live) to Sweeden (i think). What else can i do to make works voice dialling? Is that a bug of my phone so i must live with it?
    PLEASE HELP!!!!

There is no volume adjustment that can be made.
Do you have a cover on you iPad that may be covering the mic hole?
If you frequently use FaceBook, you might consider getting an external microphone that plugs into the headphone connector.

  • CK 7W with N73 & Remote Button voice dialling

Hi wonder if any one can help me ,I have the ck 7w car kit and a n73 when I connect the phone to the ck 7w via blue tooth I can use the remote button to activate voice dialling and every think works as it should do. BUT if I connect it using the supplied cable to the pop port when I press the remote button it doesn’t activate the voice dialling just gives out a bump sound in the speaker .The phone works in every other aspect with the kit attached via the pop port .I bought the ck 7w to use the cable and a holder as I was fed up with my ear type blue tooth dropping out with the phone and while I know the phone works correctly with the ck 7w via blue tooth I didn’t want to use this option and stay within the law as best as possible by not touching the phone while driving. Hope its something simple and not that the kit doesn’t work with the cable would be so disappointed as it’s a nokia product.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards Malcolm

Sorry perhaps my post was unclear.
The problem was fixed - by changing the phone.
The car kit was fine and not touched, the phone was changed for a different phone and it works well.
    Shunts...
I will mostly be communicating with a Nokia E72 Zodium Black

  • E-51 Voice Dialling with CK-7W

I have an E-51 phone coupled with a CK-7W car kit. I find that the voice recognition submits voice dialling and then cuts out before it actually dials. The dialling does work, though, when I turn the motor off but still use the hands free. Any suggestions?

  • N95 - Original Wired Headset & Voice Dialling

    Hi All,
I use my N95 with a Bluetooth headset when I'm out and about, and also with the original wired headset (while at work, in my holster, hidden away under my jacket)...
Obviously voice dialling is a huge advantage for a hands-free solution, and it works perfectly with my Bluetooth Headset, but refuses to work at all with the wired headset... Once I press the button, it just bleeps at me and goes back to standby...
Has anyone else experienced this or discovered a solution? If not, I'll submit it to Nokia and hopefully they can do something about it.
    Nokia History: 3110, 5110, 7110, 7110, 3510i, 6210, 6310i, 5210, 6100, 6610, 7250, 7250i, 6650, 6230, 6230i, 6260, N70, N70, 5300, N95, N95, E71, E72
Android History: HTC Desire, SE Xperia Arc, HTC Sensation, Sensation XE, One X+, Google Nexus 5

Looks like I might have this sorted. Got a response from Nokia to my 2nd email (replied within a couple of hours - much more impressed) and it appears my headset might be faulty as it should initiate the voice dial function.

  • Can't turn of voice dialling from locked screen. Option disappeared from settings (I-Phone 4S)

I've just updated my I-Phone 4S to the iOS 7.1 and have lost the option to turn voice dialling off - this could be found in Settings > Passcode (Passcode Lock) > Allow Access When Locked > (then turn off the) 'Voice Dialiling. BUT I only see 'Passbook', 'Reply with Message' and a blank space where voice dailling was. I also have no idea where you can turn Siri off for good as that doesn't seem to be in the settings either.
If anyone has some useful comments or suggestions please post back!
    Cheers,
    Tmalia

    Hey 27,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
This may be a hardware issue but I would first suggest doing a clean reload of the BlackBerry® device software as shown here: http://btsc.webapps.blackberry.com/btsc/KB11320. Please test before restoring any data to the device.
If this resolves the issue do a selective restore of essential data (Address Book, Calendar, Task, Memos, BBM contacts etc.)

  • HS-500 voice dialling not working

    Hi all,
I have a Bold 9700 and HS-500 headset. Everything worked perfectly for a while - music, calling etc. but just recently if I try to use voice dialling, if I hold down the control key on the earpiece to initiate voice dialling it gives some slow beeps, disconnects and loses its pairing connection to the phone.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Any help appreciated. Now I have to go back - delete the headset and re-pair them again!
    John

With the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot.
    Then try again.
I lost my pairing with mine last week and had to delete and repair it. I should leave the HS 500 charged up more.

  • How to disable voice dialling on N95

I have searched extensively for a solution how to disable the voice dialling function on my N95, but have not found anything, not in the manual nor anywhere online. Does anyone know if this is possible and if yes, how ?
It keeps dialling random numbers when pressed accidentally, usually in my pocket when the keypad lock doesn't activate for some reason.
I am only interested in disabling the voice dialling, not in any other suggestions how to prevent the voice dialling from accidentally activating, so please post only if you have the solution to my specific problem. Thanks.

    Hi
Wow .... you are quick! Nice.
No there was no code.. Only a message saying something like (translated form Danish):
"Thanks for your purchase. This message cost 20Danish Crowns. You will find more information at www.openbit.com."
At www.openbit.com there is the following FAQ:
Q: Why do I receive messages but they do not appear in my Inbox?
A: The messages contain a license as a binary file. The License Manager software removes the messages immediately from the Inbox.
From that i understand that the GPS application should activate Voice Navigation automatically.

  • Using Voice Dialling while in Cradle

I am using my E70 with an MBC-13 cradle, and CK-7W car kit.
Unfortunately due to the location of the voice dialling button, you can't use it when the phone is in the cradle. Is there any other button that you can use? I know on my old 6680, you could hold down the names button or something?
    Thanks!

Create a monitor mix with an Aux Send from your Mackie, and put that in his headphones. Add his voice, nat sound, and the macarena if he wants it. Just don't bring up the faders on those tracks. Only actually send the mic back into the Mac.
edit: I guess I should have asked, how is the mic getting into the VO tool?

  • Voice dialling/soft key?

hi, I just can't figure out how to activate voice dialling on my N73. I have read posts on here people say to hold the left soft key but I don't know what key that is. Also, on my handset in the help files it says 'press and hold the right selection key. After you hear a tone and speak now is displayed, say the voice cammand' but I don't know what the right key selection is.
    Can anyone help me?

I DID IT! After hours of trying I figured it out! I needed to assign 'CONTACTS' to the right hand button in the 'Settings/Phone/Standby' areas. happy happy happy

  • Voice dialling problem in N97

Among myriads of problems with my N97 the freshest one is really annoying. As you know, N97 is supposed to automatically tag all the contacts with a voice tag allowing them to be dialled by voice. The contact which I use the most has lost its voice tag. It can't be dialled in this way and when I choose Options>voice tag details it says that "There are no voice tag details for this contact". I've tried everything: erasing this contact and entering it from scratch, restoring all contacts from the copy and with no results.
What's more, I've noticed that any new contact I enter also lacks its voice tag.
I wonder if any of you has ever met such a problem and perhaps someone knows a way to solve it.

Same issue here. Nokia N97 mini with latest firmware. 959 contacts.

  • N73 - voice dialling doesn't work, portuguese name...

    Hi there,
90% of the mobile phones that I had were Nokia, from the old 5110 to my latest N73.
With two exceptions (a Motorola and a Siemens) I've always came back to this brand, because it had the best quality.
I never, ever had a complaint, at least until now.
Since I have my driving license and mobile I never in my life had to use my finger to dial a number or just press a key in my phone to make a call while driving, I've always used the voice dial (with 5110 I still didn't had this need).
And now I got a N73, and no call is made to the correct number (not even one), why?
In the older models I setted the voice tag for the phone that could interest me (3 or 5) and that was it, it worked 99% of the times, now, and until now, I never got one right.
Although I'm Portuguese, I always set my language to English, but to see if that was the cause, I set the language to Portuguese just to see if that could solve the problem, but without any effect.
Is it possible, somehow, to set the voice tags manually? If there any 3rd party application that is able to do this?
Thanks for all the help in making me a safer driver.
    Luis Pinho

So, when you try to use voice dialing it never says "say a command..." ?

  • Voice dialling on 6700 slide sends a message?

I'm trying to use voice dialing on my 6700 slide.
It works fine if I say "home" [ finds & dials my home number ]
But if i say "Traffic" [ which is 1200 on O2 ], it wants to send an SMS to 1200 rather than call 1200.
Any idea how to persuade it to call rather than text?

    Well, I've found a rather puzzing work-around.
-- I call 1200 normally (by typing "1200" from standby & pressing "call")
    -- end the call
-- I goto the call log / dialled numbers
-- I save the entry for 1200 that I just made as a new contact
    -- now it works!
comparing the original contract entry that I typed in and the one I created as above, I can see no difference. But one works, one doesn't.
