Nokia warranty question

Hello guys!
I'm using Nokia Lumia 520 and I find it very good. It has just one flaw. My button for volume down deattached itself from motherboard like 5 days ago and fell off. I didn't do anything that may cause that except normal button clicks. Now the button for locking screen is starting to fail. It doesn't even work anymore but it's still attached to main board as I can see when I open the lid. (Not to be mistaken buttons on the lid are fine.)
There's a picture attached to see the problem.
So my question is if warranty is good for solving problem like that or will I have to pay and how much, What's your advice?
Greetings, Peter

By black cover you probably mean the cover that is screwed(?) to the phone. If you do...I didn't open that. I only opened lid that comes in colors (in my case white) which allows me to change the battery or SD card if needed. I never tried fully opening the phone and I guess only opening that cover doesn't accuse me of what you said right?
And thanks for the answer

  • Nokia 6230i questions and Nokia Warranty

    Hi
My last Nokia mobile was the 6230 and I have just upgraded to the 6230i (though after reading through the threads last night, I think it may have been a downgrade?). I have a few questions which I hope I can get the answers to in this forum?
Q1: Ok, last night, after reading through many, many posts about the 6230i, I read in one particular post that the Nokia warranty is now two (2) years, can anyone please confirm this and also when this took effect?
(Also is there anywhere that I can view the basic details of the warranty)
Q2: With regard to the warranty, if two years is correct, does that mean that our Nokia mobiles will be repaired FREE for parts and labour over the two year period?
Q3: Is the warranty work required to be carried out at a Nokia Service Centre?
Q4: My 6230i firmware is v3.40, what is the latest firmware version for this mobile? I read in one thread last night that it was v3.62?
Q5: During the warranty period, are we allowed FREE firmware software updates to our mobiles and are they carried out at the Nokia Serice Centres?
Q6: After inserting a particular *# xxxxx # code, to see warranty details, I noticed an entry called "Life Timer" what do the numbers in that section mean? (I think my 6230i had 0000.1.05) I have used the phone.
    I'd appreciate all help given.
    Regards

I just got a new LCD screen in my 6230i and the guy in the nokia service center said all nokia's have a 18 mth warranty from april 2005. obviously he doesn't know about the 24 mth warranty....!Message Edited by bjproc on 06-Jan-2006

  • Headphone warranty question

When requesting service for headphone replacement, do I need to sent both my Iphone and headphones to UPS or just the phone?

You take the machine to get repaired at http://www.apple.com/uk/buy/ locations which are authorized service centers. If you are planning on selling the machine, be sure to follow these tips I've written up:
    http://www.macmaps.com/selling.html
In some cases, there are some repair shops which do work for less than Apple that have a good reputation:
    http://www.dttservice.com/
    http://www.powerbookresq.com/
    http://www.microdocusa.com/
    http://www.macspecialist.com/
    http://www.techrestore.com/
Some of these will repair machines from the U.K. as well.
Also note, if your machine is under 1 year old, it is still under a hardware warranty. If you had bought AppleCare, you might still have coverage on your hardware for 3 years from the date you purchased your computer, but you would have had to buy it in the first year to get that coverage. Many of these questions can be answered by AppleCare representatives. Now if the damage was caused because you dropped the machine, normally that is not something covered, or obviously damaged yourself. That's when you have to pay out of pocket for the parts and labor yourself even if it is under AppleCare. AppleCare usually makes the final determination of whether or not it is something they can cover. So I suggest calling them at least to see what the cost will be.
This forum is just a user to user forum for technical help which Apple monitors for constructive feedback (i.e. no ranting or blaming).

  • Battery issue and warranty question

I bought my macbook pro in Dec 2007 and really love it. Fancy interface, easy usage. And after almost a year in Nov 2008, my battery went bad. Only last for 45 minutes, I check my serial and it said I'm still under warranty so I went to the nearest apple store which is in Glendale Galleria and got a free replacement battery without any problem.
Things went well until now, my macbook pro appeared to be shutdown automatically within 10 minutes of usage eventhough I still have like 90% left. I tried everything but still.
My question is, will I get a free replacement battery again ? I know that my warranty is over, but this battery I got from last Nov, so it is not even a year old. Will it work out or I have to buy a new battery ?

Unfortunately there's no one here that can answer that question. This is a user-to-user discussion forum. As all service issues are handled on a case-by-case basis by Apple there are two people that can assist you further:
1.) The agent that picks up the phone when you call (800) APL-CARE
2.) The Genius at the Apple Retail Store that sees you for your appointment
That's the next step at this point, we can speculate here till we're blue in the face.

  • Bad customer service and warranty question.

I called a couple days ago to see if could get my lcd bezel fixed, since it just started to crack and the bottom (basically the back of the lid when it's close)  for no reason at all. if i dropped it or did something to break it, i wouldn;t even bother calling. but it just started doing this naturally so i;m worried that there might be a bigger problem. i didn't think it was a big deal, and i do have a warrenty for a reason, so i thought i might get it fixed before it runs out and the problem gets worse.
To be clear, i have the warranty that came with the machine. I called Lenovo expecting the same great service, but i got something completely different. I explained my problem and the women just started speaking at a really loud voice "it's going to cost you $995 to get it fixed, Do you still want to do that" I told her that i thought that my machine is still under warranty and she told me that is not covered.
Since i have my thinkvantage tool open to get the model number and everything, i can see that i have 60+ days left. so i told her that and she comes back with "let me check your warranty." I'm a very patient person and rarely get mad, but at this point i was kind of confused and mad that she would just give me an answer without checking. she told me that i was not covered with accidental damage and i don't think i am.  But when i told her that the damage is not by accident, she got very defensive and told me a lot of stuff i couldn't make out. such as "it will still cost you 995 dollars and it would just be a waste of time to send in your machine and get it sent back. and that all damage plastic wise, will count as accidental damange and if there is no damage, they send it back, it;s still gonna cost 995 dollars.  This is all i could understand, since she was being loud and her voiced cracked over the phone.
To replace a piece of pastic should not cost anywhere near 995 with or without warranty
so i guess after complaning for this long, here is the real question.
Is that true, that the warranty that you get when you buy a machine does not cover plastic damage because it would be part of accidental and you do not get accidental protection when you buy the machine, even when the damage was not the result of an accident. this is not even a week after they replaced my power adapter and HDD.
I do plan to call back, but wanted to see if i can get a straight forward answer before i do.
    Thanks

Escalate your complaint to the customer service satisfaction officer.
There is no warranty agreement in your warranty booklet, which explicitly states that case or plastics fitting is not covered. In such cases, one should assume that it is covered, provided that you did not damage the part yourself.

  • Nokia E71 Questions - 3G and GPS - URGENT PLEASE R...

Hi everyone! Hope you are doing well. I am a big noobie when it comes to phone services.
I am planning to buy an unlocked Nokia E71. My service provider is AT&T. I am currently using a Sony Ericsson w580i and I use the MediaNet data plan. However, I know the Nokia E71 is 3G capable.
My question is: Once I buy my Nokia E71:
    1) How do I enable it for 3G? Is there a seperate service I have to pay monthly like MediaNet to get the speeds of 3G? How do I suscribe to the 3G service on AT&T?
    2) Does Google Maps on the E71 give the exact location of me? My w580i only gives me an "accurate" location within 1100 meters, which is totally not good enough for me.
That would be all! Thanks everyone

I have AT&T with an old Cingular SIM card.  I popped it into my E71 and it works just fine.   I can set the phone to UMTS (3g) and it will connect and use it just fine for phones and data.  Though for data it appears (to me) to go slow like it's still using Edge for data.  I might need to go in and get a new SIM card meant for a 3G device to get actual 3G speeds.  But right now it is not a big deal for me.
3G is not a seperate service to pay for.  If you use it for voice then you don't need to do anything more.  Though for data.. like me.. you might need to get a newer 3G sim card to see its full speed potential. Be warned that you will need to get a data package (not the standard Pay Per Use). PPU will get $$$ very fast.  It is considered a smart phone and will cost like 29.99 for the unlimited data plan.  Though since AT&T doesn't have the E71 yet you can sneak by with the unlimited medianet option for 19.99.  Though if you use too much data AT&T might notice it and take the medianet option off without telling you and stick you on the pay per use plan which will cause your bill to be very $$$.
I have used google maps and it plays just fine with the internal GPS (you WILL need a data connection to use gmaps!)  I think it has said it has locked on to within 20meters for me.  I havnt used it in a while but I think that's the closest its got.
Another option is the builtin Nokia Maps.  Not as user friendly in my opinion. But at least you can download maps to a memory card and not have to worry about using data all the time.
    Hope this rambling helps.

  • Nokia N97: Questions

    Questions:
    1.  how can i see al the phone and memory contenst through the PC Suite file manager when it seems all files are protected and hidden?
    2.  how can i move files from pc memory to mass memory so that i have more free memory on the phone?  What files can be moved?
    3.  I am trying to install N-Gage but after installing the message reads to make a reboot:  does this mean a switch off and switch on process or there is a reboot procedure?
    4.  how come N97 will not switch on if the sync cable is inserted in the phone?
    5.  how come i am not allowed to update to firmware 2..........?
    regards

    Go to Solution.

Hi, I'll try and answer you
1-connect in mass memory/data transfer mode and set computer to 'show hidden files' then go into 'my computer; phone will show as seperate drives E/F
5-Drag and drop, but All Files cannot be moved, most apps can, facebook, accuweather etc, but you need to delete and re-install, and some things like maps (application) and nokia messaging will ONLY install on C so only install things you really want. Also in messaging-Options-settings-other, set memory in use to E
3-Reboot means turn phone off and on (like computer) but N-Gage is a waste of space and being killed off, all moved to Ovi
4-It's a trait of all nokia phones that they will not fully function when connected by usb (you can't sync music, mwssageing memory will resoert back to C) Normally happens in mass storage mode but occurs in PC Suite mobe also
5=Software updates are restricted on 'locked' phones or to certain product codes check Nokia web site for the latest software available for your product code or call your phone supplier.

  • Toshiba satelitte l305-s5955 warranty question

    Hi,
I was having trouble finding warranty info on my particular laptop, and had one simple question with regards to it:
Does Toshiba honor their warranty if the end user replaces Windows with a Linux operating system? The reason I ask is I just bought a new laptop, and am experiencing what seems to be a hardware problem with my monitor. But I'm not quite sure at this point, and want to install a Linux OS on my computer, but don't want to risk voiding the warranty if there does end up being a problem with the monitor.
    Thank you!

Like civicman stated, if you should ever send it in under warranty I can almost guarantee that they will restore the system to it's factory out of box state to test it with so you would need to re-install linux when you get it back.  If you are having some problems with it I would get those taken care of PRIOR to installing Linux if at all possible.
Installing linux will NOT void your warranty.  The problem would arise that if you call them about an issue they will more than likely require you to restore the system back to it's factory out of box state to verify that the problem is in fact a hardware issue rather than a software issue.  They also would NOT guarantee that the system would work with Linux.  My advice would be to create your Recovery Disks and then setup a Dual Boot system leaving the original WIndows still installed.  Just shrink the Windows partition down so it has 10gigs of free space then install Linux on the remaining space.  Once the warranty runs out you can delete the WIndows partitions if you don't want to use them.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Nokia warranty&quality

    Hi,
I bought new Nokia N82 on 21/05/2008. Phone works ten days almost ok... of course I had to boot it some times during these days. Then I realized that N82 didn't save any photos/videos. Now the phone has been in Nokia's Care&Service point in Oulu about two weeks. I asked them when I will get phone back and they did't know. Before I had a Sony-Ericsson over two years and i hadn't any problems with that phone. I am very disappointed for Nokia's quality and warranty service.

  • Warranty question about my broken GT 683DX

I asked a question earlier about my broken GT 683DX and I got a response saying it is more than likely broken beyond repair and cannot be fixed.  This was not any error by me and appeared to be just the systems fault.  My question now assuming my laptop is under the extended warranty, is what will MSI do for me when I send my laptop in?  Will they replace my laptop even though I doubt it is made any more?  Will I get store credit for the original price I paid? Will I get store credit based on depreciation of the laptop?  I read through the warranty multiple times and was still a bit confused.  Hopefully someone here can help.

I honestly have no idea. I would contact MSI directly (call them) and ask them. I'm not sure any other users here will have an answer either.

  • Nokia E6 Questions?

My contract for my E72 ends in Dec and for the life of me I don't know what my next move will be...
If i'm going to stay with nokia as i have done for most of my life, I need to know  a couple of questions about the E6 from someone who has one or used one extensively .... Probably like many others, do I switch to Android? main reason for not wanting to right now is a very simple one, battery life,
Reason for switching to android  so i can play Divx movies of the LAN directly from my computer, 2nd reason, I don't want to lose google maps support, gmaps has a really nice way of planning your journey either by bus or train telling you which bus stop or train stop which is bloody handy for the days i have no access to the car..
    1. Can the E6 access UPNP/DLNA and play divx files directly from my computer?
    2. Does google maps install on the E6.
Anyone have anything else negative to go against the E6? rebooting? freezing? etc.

Movies in a varity of formats play on the built in video player. MKV, AVI, DIvx etc.. has support for subtitles also without need for installing 3rd party software.
    Google maps works on E6-00.
Haven't yet experienced UPNP first hand but am sure i read somewhere in the manual that it supports.
It does have a few software glitches but i trust nokia to fix them through updates likethey did with my previous E52.

  • Selling iMac & warranty question...

Hi everyone, I'm planning on selling my imac on eBay but I've lost my receipt. There's still warranty for half a year so can the buyer still use the warranty with just the mac's serial # or will they need the original receipt?
    Thank You-

Hi everyone, I'm planning on selling my imac on eBay
but I've lost my receipt. There's still warranty for
half a year so can the buyer still use the warranty
with just the mac's serial # or will they need the
    original receipt?
    Hi Andre Monteiro!
If the iMac is legally owned and has a valid warranty at this time, it will have a valid warranty for a new owner, and in that case you should not be afraid to state "valid warranty" in your eBay auction description.
While Apple may not HAVE to honor a warranty without proper documentation, in practice, a demand for physical documentation would be unusual, since the owner information that matches the person requesting a repair is usually within Apple's database due to online or mail-in registration. Macs and Apple software that have never been registered will raise big questions. Questions are less likely to arise if the iMac is currently registered to you, and if the new owner, during setup, registers the Mac to their name, address, and Apple ID, and thereafter keeps their Apple personal info up to date.
Just as important as the original receipt which proves your legal ownership and right to sell, will be the purchase/payment information generated by the eBay transaction, as that will be the proof that the machine is legally owned by the new owner.

  • Ideapad V570 Warranty Question

    Hey guys,
Recently (8 hours ago) called up Lenovo and requested that they send me a replacement HDD. Since it was still under manufacturer's warranty it'd be no cost, but they had to take my credit card information in case I chose not to return the old HDD within 30 days.
Went into my online account tonight to transfer some money into savings and saw a large sum missing ($145.13). It was from Lenovo. I was never told I'd be charged for anything, and this seems like an odd amount for a hold. Regardless, if there was going to be a hold on the account, they should've told me.
Is this normal, or did someone at Lenovo drop the ball on this and charge me when they weren't supposed to? Seems about the right price for a 640GB Western Digital HDD.
    Thanks.
