Non Database single record block, SAVE message issue

Hi,
Please help me to resolve it,
In Form I have single record block which is not based on table or view , I wrote Insert & update script in When-Button-press trigger for save button. It does update or save record but doesnt show any message which normally shows at the bottom of the form that 1 Rcord saved. How can I display that message?
Thanks
--Vijay

Either u can give some conditions in save button and give procedure_alert('Record Saved Successfully..').. It depends upon how u give the condition...
OR
in when new form instance trigger, u would have gave :SYSTEM.MESSAGE_LEVEL := '20'... delete this code...then the builder itself will show all the messages including insert and all at bottom of window....

  • Non-Database Item Sort Using Multiple Block Values

    I need to sort the result set of a block based on a calculated item. I found several messages addressing this, however they all speak to using the columns from within the same block as input variables to the function used to calculate the non-database column value.
    My problem is that I need to use values from a different block as input variables. I have not found a way to use them since I need to use the full block.column syntax. Forms does not like this and always thows an error right at the period(.). I need to do this because the column names are the same in each block. the function compares the column values and changes the record instance background a different color based based on how many of the column pairs match. Each block is mutually exclusive from each other and doing a accurate join is not really possible.
    I tried renaming the block column name to something unique, however I get a variable not bound error when I try to use it in the order by function even though their values are in the top most block.
    For Example:
    First Block. Contains a list of cases that need to be worked because the automated process could not find a valid provider based on the values received. This list is created by a background process.
    Table: CASE_MAIN
    TIN
    CASE_ID
    FCLTY_CM
    MEDICARE_CM
    Unrelated Second Block (i.e., no join). It uses the TIN value in the first block to get a list of all of the providers for the TIN associated with the Case so that a person can assign the correct Provider to the case (A TIN has a provider and address associated with it). As a result there is no link to the results of this table and the CASE_ID. That's what the users needs to do manually
    Table: PROVIDER_MAIN
    FCLTY
    MEDICARE
    I need to take the values in the first block and compare them in the second block so that I can recolor the background based on matching logic in the function below.
    order by clause = get_vals( ''||:FCLTY_CM||''
    ,''||:MEDICARE_CM||''
    ,fclty
    ,medicare) desc
    I am able to do the coloring within the form easily, however I need to order them by how many values match exactly so the ones that match to most value pairs show at the top. Hence ordering by the result of the function. I return a 0,1, or 2 based on the matches. 0 for none and 2 for both.
    I cannot create a view because the sources of the information I need to compare are NOT related to each other, yet. that is what the application is designed to do. I have a case without a
    provider assigned, but I have a tax id number that possible identifies the provider. I use this TIN to query the provider table for all of the possible providers under that TIN. As a result there is no link between the case information and provider information. The goal is to get this list compare the values from the target information and put the most likely matches on top, with
    the ones with the most matches first. I can create a function many ways that takes in various parameters. For example Case ID and Provider Id and query the records in subselects
    individually like so;
    select count(*)
    from (select fclty, medicare from case_main where case_id p_case_id) cm
    ,(select fclty, medicare from provider_main where prv_id = p_prv_id) pm
    where cm.fclty = pm.fclty
    and cm.medicare = pm.medicare
    If the number is greater than zero I know I have a match with that provider and I can sort accoringly. I can also pass in the target information from case_main and the provider inforation from provider_main and then do an if/then statement for comparing. Then I can use this function to create a column value for each record and then use the same reference to the function in the order by clause to order by that value.
    The problem comes in trying to reference the case_id or target information from a different block than where the fucntion needs to be used. I get a variable bound not error message. What am I missing here. Why can I not reference a uniquely named block item as a input variable to a function in a different block? Does Forms first figure out what it needs to retrieve and then executes the SQL for each block in isolation, or does the first block's result set get retrieved, then the second, third, etc. Based on the message i am getting I would suspect the former since it appears their is no value in subsequent blocks. If so is there anyway around this? thanks.

    Don't quite understand your problem completely. But this might help. I sure hope your Provider_Main is a single-record block ...otherwise, how would you supply a list of values of FCLTY and MEDICARE to the function that does the sorting? Be awere, too, that the order-by is processed by the server, and NOT by Forms.
    Assuming it is a single-record block, you can put the values into parameters:
    :Parameter.Fclty := :Provider_Main.Fclty;
    :Parameter.Medicare := :Provider.Medicare;
    Execute_Query;
    And your order-by clause would be
    get_vals( ''||:FCLTY_CM||'',''||:MEDICARE_CM||'',
    :Parameter.Fclty,
    :Parameter.Medicare) desc
    By the way, the first line of your order-by looks strange. Shouldn't it be:
    get_vals( FCLTY_CM || ',' || MEDICARE_CM,
    or even better, get_vals should take in 4 parameters:
    get_vals(Fclty_cm, Medicare_cm, :parameter.Fclty, :parameter.Medicare)

  • How to do it in multi-record block

    Hi all,
    i have 1 text items in a multi-record block number of record displayed 10
    and i have values like 100 , 50, 30 in first 3 records and in 5th record i want to put some value like
    20 then i want to calculate all values like 100 + 50 + 30 +20 = 200 and i want to put the total value in a single record block.
    but my problem is i cannot able to calculate all the value because for the totale value i have to
    write a for loop to loop through the record
    but go_block() is not working in post_change .
    if any solution is there plz suggest.......

    Hi zeeshan
    my problem is i cannot able to calculate all the value because for the total value
    put the total value in a single record block.
    First pls the following...
    Guidelines for Working with Calculated Items Calculated items_
    1- They are display-only control items.
    2-Calculated items cannot be database items.
    3.While you can set a calculated item's Enabled, Mouse Navigate, and Keyboard Navigable properties to Yes,
    you cannot set the Insert Allowed or Update Allowed properties to Yes
    Second Keyword: TOTAL is a reserved oracle key word... pls read the Details...
    go_block() is not working in post_change .well u can use timers but no need for it u can reference block item but first u have to accumulate the values per record in WHEN-VALIDATE-ITEM TRIGGER in the last calculated item which is inserted by the user and assign it to the display item in ur current multi-record block :*block_name.total_item*.. as follow...
    :block_name.total_item := :item1 + .... ; Then u create a second display item > no of records property = 1 , named e.g. final_summarized_totals
    In order to summarize this total values accumulated in the multi-record display item named e.g. block_name.total_item
    Finally using PRE-INSERT , PRE-UPDATE,PRE-DELETE Triggers to assign the value calculated into the display item * block_name.total_item* into the db_item into the previously mentioned Trigger Block-Level Off-course.
    :block_name.total_db_tem := :i:block_name.final_summarized_totals ; Hope this helps...

  • Getting error " Incomplete update due to error in single records"

    Dear All,
    We are loading data from DSO to Cube using full load and the load is failing giving an error message Collection in the source system ended and when checked the error message button it is showing as  " Incomplete update due to error in single records" . and also one more message "Messages (type E) for data records with record number 0
    Message no. RSM2714". Can any one tell us the reason for the failure of this load ? and how to resolve it ?.
    When we click on the help button of the error message it is displaying the message as below
    Incomplete update due to errors in single records --> Long text
    Message no. RSM2712
    Diagnosis
    In the update rules, one InfoSource record was used to create several records in the data target. These records must be handled in the same way to enable tracking into the PSA and the treatment of errors in individual records.
    In the previous case, one record was updated in this kind of group generated by update rules, whereas other records in the same group were rejected. If you updated the PSA data record again, the records that were already updated would be updated again. Duplicate records would appear in the data target and the data target would thus be inconsistent.
    System Response
    The data record with errors was highlighted in the PSA. However, no error request was generated.
    Procedure
    Delete the request in the data target and, after removing the error, update all records for the request to the data target again.
    Regards,
    JayaKrishna

    hi,
    Can you please check out the PSA error record and check this out in Source DSO as this load is for DSO -> Cube....
    Please correct it in PSA if this is not correct as per DSO ....prior correcting data in PSA pls delete the request from Cube.....then it will allow to correct or delete record in PSA and then further push data from PSA to Target Cube...
    If its correct as per DSO then run load in DSO sometime few records wrongly updated by  end user and they correct it by evening for Submission....So u will get the corrected record and then run manually further load to Cube...
    Hope this will help....

    Please Guide me
    Thanks in advence

    As you do a loop over all the records in the block, of course every record is updated.
    Also, what you do is not the way is intended to be used. In general, you base a block on a table,then there is no need at all for writing INSERT's or UPDATE's. Forms also know's then, which records to be updated and which not.

  • About populating a non-database item in a multi-records block

    Hi, all
    I have a problem about populating a non-database item in a
    multi-records block. This block is set to database block with a
    controlled item which needs to be populated after query. so I
    create a post-query trigger, but my problem is when the records
    listed in this block are less than 10 ( the record number is set
    to 10), the trigger fires no problem. but when the retrieved
    records are greater than 10, the error message is 'post query
    trigger raised unhandled exception ora 01403'. anyone can help me
    fix this problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Diana

    Diana,
    When you have an unbound item in a block and want to fetch
    some data into it you need to write a post-query trigger.What
    you have done is right.But it seems that u are getting a No data
    found error.I am sure about how u r populating data into that
    field.If u have written a select statement to fetch the data in
    post-query trigger, kindly handle an exception and find out the
    problem.Having a look at ur code(pos-query) would be much more
    helpful for giving a better solution.Try this a let me know.
    Thanks
    Vinod.

  • Choosing the records to save in a database based block

    Hi everybody,
    I'm working with oracle 10g forms builder, I have a database based block.. in which I'll populate a number of records retrieved from a cursor. In that block, I have a non database item which a checkbox.
    The user can select the records he wants to save by setting the checkbox to check.
    Only the selected records should be checked.
    Can anyone please help me implementing that.
    Thanking you all in advance.
    Cheers.

    Commit processing in Forms is an all or nothing process. You cannot pick and choose which records will be commited during a Commit_Form or Commit call. Based on your description, I don't see why you would need to use the checkbox to keep track of which records are new since you state that you add the records through a cursor and then to save them. Forms already keeps track of which records were queried into a block and which records are new so a simple call to Commit_Form will accomplish what you want without the need to manually keep track of which records are new.
    Hope this helps,
    Craig

  • RM-30410: Warning: Single Record property ignored for non-control block

    Hi gurus,
    I have one block, as oracle default behavious is that when any user enters record and during that if he/she hits down arrow key then it gets to next new record, i want to prevent this behaviour.
    In other words i want that user should not enter second record and if he or she needs to enter second record after saving first then user can only do if he navigate to the form second time.
    In property pallete i put yes to single record but when i compile the form it gives me following warning
    FRM-30410: Warning: Single Record property ignored for non-control block Employees
    Created form file C:\my_forms\employees.fmxPlease seeks help that how can i sort it out.
    Thank you
    Hina

    if he/she hits down arrow key then it gets to next new record, i want to prevent this behaviour. Change the block's key-down and/or key-nxtrec trigger to
    begin
      null;
    end;(or give the user a message "Key not allowed here").

  • HOW TO CREATE MULTIPLE RECORDS IN A NONE DATABASE BLOCK?

    I have a Form where I have a none database block with unbound items. The block
    has 10 records. In the when-new-block instance I run a query by which I would
    like to fill up the block with data. The code fragment looks like the
    following:
    begin
    declare
    tmp_curr_rec_id number;
    begin
    -- a hibak kiolvasasa
    for c_hibak in ( select h.*, h.rowid
    from hibak h
    where 1=1 -- WF - Ide kerul a szurofeltetel
    order by bejelentes_datum asc
    ) loop
    -- bemasoljuk az adatokat az unbound item-ekbe
    :mc_adat.ub_azonosito := c_hibak.azonosito;
    :mc_adat.ub_verzio_letrehozas_datum :=
    c_hibak.verzio_letrehozas_datum;
    :mc_adat.ub_bejelento := c_hibak.bejelento;
    :mc_adat.ub_bejelentes_datum := c_hibak.bejelentes_datum;
    :mc_adat.ub_wf_verzio_csomopont :=
    c_hibak.wf_verzio_csomopont;
    :mc_adat.ub_wf_utolso_esemeny_szoveg :=

    :mc_adat.ub_hiba_hely := c_hibak.hiba_hely;
    :mc_adat.ub_rekord_jelleg := 'H';
    :mc_adat.ub_rowid := c_hibak.rowid;
    -- beallitjuk a rekordot-ot olyanra, mintha semmi nem valtozott
    volna
    -- nem szeretnenk a form bezaraskor mindenfele figyelmezteteseket
    -- olvasni a kepernyon
    tmp_curr_rec_id := get_block_property( :system.current_block,
    current_record );
    set_record_property( tmp_curr_rec_id, :system.current_block,
    status, new_status );
    create_record;
    end loop;
    end;
    end;
    The block's update allowed, insert allowed, delete allowed property is set to
    true.
    The result of the code above is that only the last record fetched shows up in
    the block. The problem is - as I found out - is that aech record is fetched,
    the values are copied to the block items, but the create_record built-in
    command would not move the cursor to the next row.
    Can some one please help me with this?
    TIA,
    Tamas Szecsy

    The problem was with the following code segment:
    tmp_curr_rec_id := get_block_property( :system.current_block, current_record );
    set_record_property( tmp_curr_rec_id, :system.current_block, status, new_status );
    After omitting these two lines, the code worked properly.
    Thansk for all whoe replied.

  • Enter_query for non-database block

    Hi there,
    I have a non-database block. When I click on enter query button from toolbar, i get"this function cannot be performed here' error. I want to bring up records based on certain math calculations. I was planning to write a pre-query trigger and add those to pre-query trigger. Will it work since it is a non-database block? Or should i create a button on form to get records populated?
    Thanks

    You won't be able to use the Query-Process-triggers PRE-QUERY and POST-QUERY on a non-database-block.
    But... If you want to "simulate" the behaviour of querying, you can use the KEY-EXEQRY-trigger and put your logic there. This should also work with the standard forms-menus. To supress the error-message on entering query-mode you should additionally write as KEY-ENTQRY-trigger with code NULL;

  • Save message on Navigating Record

    Dear All
    When we execute query on a master detail form. All records are executed. When we press down arrow key on master level to navigate to the next record, we get a prompt message "Do You want to save the changes you have made".
    How can this prompt be suppressed.
    "DBMS Message Level" does not work here.
    I shall be ever thankful
    Regards

    Read this thread about the affects of post-query and when-validate triggers:
        Message Do you want to change the changes you have made? caused by a lov
    You probably have a post-query trigger running on either the Master or the detail block that is setting a value -- even to null -- for an item in the block. You should NOT change any base-table values in post-query. And even if you set non-base-table fields, while doing that does not set the record status to CHANGED, it does cause all the validation triggers in the block to run during the query process on each record. And in one of them, you have some code that is setting a value of a base-table field, which causes the record status = CHANGED.
    And then you get the "Do you want to save" message.
    I often put this at the top of my when-validate-item and when-validate-record triggers:
      If :System.Mode='QUERY'
      Or :System.Record_status = 'NEW' then
        Return;
      End if;The above causes the validation process to exit during the querying and fetching of records into your block.

  • Is it possible to requery only a single row of a multi record block?

    Hi,
    I have a data block say "Employees". This is a multi record block.
    Requirement: Two users are working on the same form (front end). Now the user1 has made change for EMP1 The same is not reflected in the User2 Session. Hence i need to requery the values updated for EMP1
    Issue: Since there lots of employees listed in this block. i do not want all the employees details to be required (Block requery). Instead is it possible to requery only a perticular record to be required?
    Thanks,
    Vidya

    I think not possible........
    Usually Approach is the data in grid table displays as read only and when user press EDIT button then they can edit one single record in a separate window.
    ooh got one idea.......
    may be create a save point and rollback to that particular save point ....... i hv never tried it but try it might solves your problem
    there is a feature of Clear_form rollback to save point
    PROCEDURE CLEAR_FORM
      (commit_mode    NUMBER,
       rollback_mode  NUMBER);
    Parameters
    If the end user has made changes to records in the current form or any called form, and those records have not been posted or committed, Form Builder processes the records, following the directions indicated by the argument supplied for the following parameter:
    commit_mode     ASK_COMMIT  Form Builder prompts the end user to commit the changes during CLEAR_FORM processing.
    DO_COMMIT  Form Builder validates the changes, performs a commit, and flushes the current form without prompting the end user.
    NO_COMMIT  Form Builder validates the changes and flushes the current form without performing a commit or prompting the end user.
    NO_VALIDATE  Form Builder flushes the current form without validating the changes, committing the changes, or prompting the end user.
    rollback_mode     TO_SAVEPOINT  Form Builder rolls back all uncommitted changes (including posted changes) to the current form's savepoint.
    FULL_ROLLBACK  Form Builder rolls back all uncommitted changes (including posted changes) which were made during the current Runform session.  You cannot specify a FULL_ROLLBACK from a form that is running in post-only mode.  (Post-only mode can occur when your form issues a call to another form while unposted records exist in the calling form.  To prevent losing the locks issued by the calling form, Form Builder prevents any commit processing in the called form.) • Querying a record from a non-database item

    I am working in Apex 4.0. I have a page based on a table with the following columns: dktnr, borrower, amount, previous_dktnr, subsequent_dktnr. The precious_dktnr is the dktnr under which the loan was financed in the past, before its assumption or refiancing. The subsequent_dktnr is the dktnr under which the loan is later identified. When a loan is refinanced, it is assigned a new dktnr in a new record, and the old dktnr is placed in the previous_dktnr column of that new record, and the current dktnr is placed in the subsequent_dktnr column of the old dktnr record.
    I created two buttons, one for the previous_dktnr and one of the subsequent_dktnr. When I click either of these buttons, the action redirects to the current page and places the value of either the previous or subsequent dktnr into the dktnr item. This queries the record for the dktnr that has the same value as the previous or subsequent dktnr.
    This works. It allows the user to shuffle back and forth between the two dktnr's.
    One would assume then that, if a non-database item were created, say :P22_QUERY_DKTNR, you would be able to enter an existing dktnr into that item and have a button, using the same logic as the previous and subsequent dktnr buttons, that would be able to return the record for the dktnr entered.
    I have tried this, and it does not work. Can anyone tell me why it does not work?

    Doug,
    Made copies of your two page within your workspace, page 3 & 4.
    The issue was the page did not have a value in session containing your Look_Up value. I altered the Look-Up button to Submit the Page so as to capture the Look_Up value and then added a new Page Branch that was sequenced prior to your existing branch. This new branch sets your P4_DKTNR with the Look_Up value and then returns your results.

    If I remove the part,
    and :SYSTEM.RECORD_STATUS ='CHANGED'
    it fires for "all records"(not just the currently changed records) where nvl ( :DEFLOC.to_be_defaulted, 'N' ) = 'Y' and :DEFLOC.COMMENTS is NULL
    Please help !!
    Note: :DEFLOC.to_be_defaulted is a non database item ; :DEFLOC.COMMENTS is a database item

    Hi kriti,
    There is one more way,
    In the when-checkbox-changed trigger,
    if :your_chk_box = 'Y' then
    set_Record_property(:system.cursor_Record, 'your_blk',status,changed_Status);
    else
    set_Record_property(:system.cursor_Record, 'your_blk',status,Query_Status);
    end if;
    Then it is easy for you to find out the changed records using get_Record_property((:system.cursor_Record, 'your_blk',status)
    Hey let me ask you one Question, is that check_box item is database item ???
    If so,
    it is easier..the fol. code will work for that
    if   nvl ( :DEFLOC.to_be_defaulted, 'N' ) = 'Y' and :DEFLOC.COMMENTS is NULL
      and nvl(get_item_property('DEFLOC.to_be_defaulted',database_value),'N') = 'N'      then
                      set_alert_property(
             'err_alert',
             alert_message_text,
             'You must enter a comment when defaulting localities.');
              x := show_alert('err_alert');
              RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
              end if;otherwise
    If your are creating that temp. item, it should be in the same block as non-db item.
    I will explain this... You are setting the status of to_be_defaulted check box of some queried record to Y based on some conditions, right?
    These records anyways are not updateable. Now your requirement is to find out the newly checked check boxes.
    So in the post query or the place where you set to_be_defaulted as 'Y, we will default the new item with value Y, so that in the when validate trigger, you
    know which record needs to attacked, It is those records with nvl( new item ,'N') = 'N' and to_be_defaulted = 'Y'...

  • Problem in Execute query on non-database block and database block together

    Hi All,
    In my form,i have
    1. First block is Non-database block with one non-database item.
    2. Second and third blocks are database blocks.
    Now the problem is that i want to perform execute-query for all the blocks.
    If the cursor is on the non-database item of 1st block and i clicks on the "Enter-query" then i am getting message " This function can not be performed here".
    If i click on the item of the database block and then clicks on the "Enter-query" and then "execute-query" it's working fine.
    But i don't want to do in this way.
    My cursor will be on the First block only and then it should perform execute-query.
    I am using this non-database item to copy value of this item to the item of the database block item.
    I think i make you understand about my problem.
    I am using forms 10g on Window xp.
    Please help me.

    Hi!
    Simply create a enter-query trigger on the non-database-block:
    begin
    go_block ( 'database_block' );
    enter_query;
    end;If your search criteria is in the non-database-item in the first block,
    you actually do not need the enter_query build-in.
    Just create a execute-query trigger on the first block like:
    begin
    go_block ( 'database_block' );
    execute_query;
    go_item ( :System.trigger_item );
    end;And in a pre-query trigger on the database-block copy the
    value of your seach item into the item you want to search for.
