Speech Agent - Static behind voices after applying update today

I'm using Captivate version 4.0.1 bld 1658. Last week I used Paul for my speech agent and he had a mild robotic tin-canny sound behind his voice, which is fine. Today I applied an update (help --> updates) to address not being able to hear the audio when previewing only one slide. After updating, both Paul and Kate now have static in their voices. I listened to audio I created last week, I still hear tin can background. I import the same audio into a new project created today, static. Recompile audio in previous project, static behind the voice. When listening to the video with headphones, the static is very disturbing.
What can I do to fix the speech agent voices? Can the encoding settings be modified for text to speech?

Why does Firefox start from "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\Updated\firefox.exe" after an update? Is there anyway to fix this besides rebooting PC?

hi, having an annoying problem after every time Firefox updates... It will launch from a nonexistent directory and cause my firewall/av to go crazy (ask to allow etc) which is very annoying.

That can be an issue caused by your security software.
When an update is downloaded the Firefox builds a new program folder for the new version in the Updated folder.
If Firefox isn't able to finish this process and move that directory to replace the current program folder then you can end up with problems like this.
What security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

After latest update (today), Firefox continually crashes. How can I uninstall this latest update? Tried creating new profiles and they also crash.

Firefox worked earlier today (August 19, 2013 about 6:30 pm EDT). When I opened Firefix after 9pm EDT, Firefox attempted to perform an update. No error was given, but now Firefox will not start. Running a Windows 8 machine with all updates and current security software with no known malware on my system.
When I try to start Firefox, the system shows the "working" circle, but then nothing. I created a new profile, and got Firefox to start, but whenever I try to go to any website, Firefox crashes.

After Security Update today: "Bus error" when starting "ssh" client

I'm using OS X 10.5.2 and updated my system with the newest Safari 3.1 and Security Update a few hours ago. After I did this update, I cant use the command-line ssh client anymore. When I start the ssh, I immediately get a "Bus error" on the shell.
Any suggestions?

Disk Utility Permission Repair doesn't do any good either.
I now actually use my Parallels VM to ssh thanks to putty but still...

After software update today, the Reading List on my Safari cannot be opened!

After the software update I had earlier on in the day, I can't seem to open up the Reading List on Safari. Do you guys have the same problem too?

If you have iCloud enabled and you are syncing Safari Bookmarks that also syncs the Reading List with other devices.
Quit Safari.
Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Bookmarks then reselect it.
Relaunch Safari. Try opening the Reading List.
If you do not use iCloud. try deleting the cache associated with Safari.
Go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db. Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
For Lion v10.7x: To find the Home folder in OS X Lion, open the Finder, hold the Option key, and choose Go > Library
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit then relaunch Safari. Try the Reading List

ITunes running super slow after latest update, today.

I just updated my software on iTunes and suddenly it's running super slooooooow!
It takes about 2 to 4 minutes to open.
New computer. Running Windows 7. It's not my computer. I promise.
iTunes was super fast until I just updated the software, this morning.
Plus, now it doesn't recognize my iPhone 4.
All of other programs are still running at lightening speed.
So, any suggestions? I'm expecting my new iPhone 4s, today and really don't want to have any issues going in.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

After win7 updates today (May 12) can't play videos, ie iplayer, in Firefox, but can play them in IE

Using 64-bit Windows 7; after several MS updates installed today can't play streaming vidoes (eg. bbc iplayer) in Firefox. Can play them in IE7 though but want to solve this as Firefox is my primary browser. On the streaming page I just get a blank instead of the video screen box part of the page.

Sorry I don't. It just happens at random and usually most YouTube videos and other similar styled videos. I'm not really a tech guy but it just seems like there is something else going on. Everything else on my PC works fine except when I want to open a video using flash. It isn't just one site or one video it is nearly every flash video and it's almost like they're loading one at a time except in no order if there is more than one tab. Even if it is just one video, it takes a long time to load.
Imagine going to YouTube to load up a vid and the controls or progrss bar never load, it just stops and only a solid black box is displayed. Eventually the controls load and it seems like it's about to play at any moment.. only the waiting lasts 5 minutes. Even if you refresh it still has to do this all over again.

Problem logging in after software update today

My MacbookPro wouldn't restart automatically when I updated Leopard via software update this morning. In fact, it appeared to freeze immediately after I agreed to restart for the update (and after I had closed all open software), so I restarted it by hitting the power button. After the restart, some preference file was deleted because it kept putting me in the initial login loop for .Mac and kept asking for my info again and again after every restart. I then plugged in my Time Machine hard drive to restore from my backup just prior to the update attempt. That wouldn't move forward because my 92GB hard drive didn't have enough room to reinstall my 75GB profile.
I started looking at what I could remove, and decided to be doubly-sure of retaining my info so I hooked my laptop up to my iMac running Leopard and copied over everything via target disk mode and firewire. That took most of the morning, after which I removed the entire contents of my laptop and told it to restore. It didn't work. Hours later (my external is a USB drive that is more than adequate unless you are moving 75GB), I got no improvement of results - no change. Thinking myself up to the task, I reconnected via target disk mode and swiped clean my whole laptop hard drive, then opened time machine on the iMac and restored the entire final backup. Now I get no system file with blinking lights at login. My Leopard install disk is at the office, and unaccessible until tomorrow. Is there any way to fix this?

HT4061 Anyone unable to power phone on after latest update today?

I just did the latest update when the message popped p on my phone today, and now my phone will do nothing. When I hold the round button down it beeps, but won't do anything else.

I'm having the same "Unable to read the SIM card" issue. My phone is less than two months old, the unable to read SIM card issue started about a week after I purchased the phone. That was followed by a host of erratic, sporadic issues to the phone becomes unusable and the only way to temporarily fix it is to remove the battery for a few seconds. I've gone through the factory reset with Verizon reps where I purchased the phone from as well as with a Verizon online Chat representative. In a nutshell, I got a ticket to send the phone back to Samsung in Plano, Texas to get the phone fixed, I am going to do that today because this problem is ridiculous.

Anyone have trouble with phone crashing after Facebook update today?

After pressing the update button for the Facebook app this morning, I set the phone down. A few minutes later I picked it up and the phone didn't work at all. It's as if there is no power to the phone. The screen is black. I can't get it to power on. It doesn't register when the phone is plugged in to charge. Nothing. Dead. Help. Please!

You May Want to Repair Disk Permissions After Printer Updates Today

It's been pretty automatic for quite a while--install printer updates and then repair disk permissions. Most of the time, the permissions errors aren't critical and everything still works; however, many people like to keep their boot disk permissions fixed.
After installing "HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers2.7.2" and "BrotherPrinterDrivers2.7" today I again repaired permissions. The errors weren't critical, but I can't remember seeing more of them than I did today. Make sure and scroll the list of errors because if you don't have scroll bars showing all the time, it doesn't look like there is much in the way of errors. When I didn't see a scroll bar, I assumed there were only a few errors--wrong.
My installation was on a Lion system. And, Disk Utility did fix them all. None were there when I repaired permissions a second time.
Just an FYI.

Which MacBook model? Did it come with OSX 10.6 or did you upgrade it?

My Lightroom (CC) after an update today will no longer open, any ideas why?

Today I have just updated my CC Photography apps to the latest versions, Photoshop is fine but Lightroom will not open. I have uninstalled everything an re loaded from fresh and Lightroom still won't open.
