Norwegian dvorak in console

Hi there
I Have just installed ArchLinux, but I couldn't find the norwegian dvorak layout during the installation,
so I continued with qwerty.
Now I have Arch installed, which thinks I have qwerty, and a dvorak layout on my keyboard, but I
dont't know either of the layouts without some looking at the keyboard.
I am also a newbe at linux, but I have decided that arch is the distro for me.
I am asking for help to change to norwegian dvorak, not just how, but how to do it with minimal typing
at the keyboard before arch knows i have norwegian dvorak as my keyboard layout.
any help will be well appreciated

Norwegian Keymapping for console

Tonight on irc, ilovebrownies had a question about his/her Norwegian keymap - it wasn't working in the console. I knew this could be a headache because I've dealt with it - I'm in Finland* but I've also dealt with UK keyboards, French keyboards, German keymaps...
Unfortunately we just could NOT get the Norwegian keymap to work. Until, of course, 3 seconds after he/she logged off, whereupon, BOOM, it started working for me.
So I'm going to write up a guide - eventually - as a form of "here's the why and how so you can choose the way to make it work your way." Suggestions as to where and 'other places of help' are welcome in that regard.
But as I've tried to write this 4 times already and just get far too longwinded, and it's getting very late, I will write that up later and for now, leave the immediate answer -
the "no" keymap doesn't put the ø on the key next to the p. The other keymap DOES. However, I had to load the Swedish/Finnish latin6 keymap before it. I'm not sure why, and I'll look into why tommorrow. Alternately, the Danish keymaps worked nicely with the alt-gr key.
(Mind you, ilovebrownies did not want to use the alt-gr key, but he/she wasn't OPPOSED to it, just it wasn't their first choice.)

As mentioned by several folks in this thread, it's the no keymap that (apparently) has issues, which is different from the no-latin1 keymap. I don't think anyone has had an issue with the latin1 keymap, other than "not liking it." (To be honest, I don't know what the difference _is_ and that is probably the main issue - myself and others don't really understand what the difference is supposed to be. On top of that, "not liking no-latin1" is causing folks to _assume_ they'll like "no" and since it doesn't seem to do anything (i.e. it appears to be a "us" keymap, or "the kernel keymap" or similar) folks feel it's "broken." i.e. "Missing characters."
If the .no (NOT no-latin1) keymap is a duplicate, should it be removed? Or is it in some way actually filling a need, but it's confusing for the lot of us who have tried to use it? (I'd figure the latter. We just need to know what the heck it's doing.
(I also don't know where the Norwegian/Danish keys are supposed to be, I have .se/.fi keycaps, and use the us-international-deadkeys map myself, so I really shouldn't be testing this. My eee pc has bizzarre keycaps of no/dk/se/fi, which in many cases all but cover the keycap, but having shown this to some .no typists they have suggested that those keycaps are "not even close to correct." But I did open the thread... and I think the initial issue is still "open.")

[SOLVED] Programmer dvorak in console

Hi. I'm unable to load the programmer dvorak keymap for console.
For X11, I'm setting XbkLayout dvp in the config file, but list-keymaps doesn't show this, so I cannot use it for the console.
Any tips on how I can enable this in vconsole.conf?

I have the same, but for X11, I use dvp (dvorak programmer) from aur/programmers-dvorak.
The problem is that I don't know how I can use it for a non-graphical console.

Help with consistent layoutswitching in GNOME and console

I've just bought my first mechanical keyboard(and I love it), and I'm trying to configure it to my liking.
The keyboard is a CODE keyboard, standard ISO US layout, 104 key. I choose a US layout because I mostly write English, even though my mother tounge is Norwegian. As you've probably guessed I'm trying to set up switching between US and NO layouts.
The setup I am after is us layout with the altgr-intl variation as the primary layout, and then standard no layout as the secondary. I want to switch with caps-lock or scroll-lock, and I'd like the LEDs to mark if I am in the alternative layout(no). I've been looking around in confing files, and reading on the Arch Wiki, but I'm having some problems. This is my current status:
* GDM starts with US(normal variation) as default, and can switch to NO layout with caps-lock. The LED for caps works as expected
* Gnome starts with NO as default, and can switch to US(normal variation) layout with caps-lock. The LED for caps works as expected
* In other X screens(What you get to with Ctrl+Alt+F2, for example) only the US(normal variation) is available. Caps-lock works as normal
* Switching from a console screen to Gnome resets the layout to NO
As you can see, neither of the states(GDM, Gnome or console) works as they should. The most important thing for me is that each state should work as I described, it is not that important that the layout carry over, it would just be a bonus.
Here is how I currently have it configured, the configurations that have created the problems above.
* I've configured X.org with "localectl set-x11-keymap us,no pc104 altgr-intl, grp:caps_toggle,grp_led:caps,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp"
* I've moved 00-keyboard.conf in xorg.conf.d to 11-keyboard.conf, to see if it somehow was overrided by evdev
* I've configured GNOME dconf-editor by sources and xkb-options in org.gnome.desktop.input-sources to "[('xkb', 'us+altgr_intl'), ('xkb', 'no')]" and "['grp:caps_toggle', 'terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp', 'grp_led:caps']"
* I've used used GNOME tweak tool to make sure the layout switching key is caps-lock, and that the led for caps-lock shows what layout is selected
I hope someone may help me to get this sorted out. I don't mind some scripts to do some of the controlling, as long as they are reliable. Please tell me if I forgot any info.

[SOLVED] dvorak layout, polish characters

Hello everyone, thats my first post here.
first of all, im using dvorak.
I tried searching on forums but found nothing on keywords "pl" "dvorak" "polish" etc.
So i decided to ask: i'm running on fluxbox. In console, when i press alt + s,a,o etc. it gives me normal polish chars, but after xinit, it does not.
in xterm i get some weird things, in aterm nothing. I cant use polish characters even in firefox, but it shows them with no problems, when they are on pages.
PS. my locales etc are set like "polonization" tutorial shows, i turn dvorak with setxkbmap dvorak (did shortcut for that, and for "us" in fluxbox menu.)

Dvorak uk layout (alternative) keymap file

I've created an alternative UK variant of the dvorak.map keymap found in /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/dvorak/dvorak.map.gz. This keymap is in line with the wikipedia british english dvorak layout which looks like this:
This is the keymap that would be specified in /etc/rc.conf.
It wasn't clear to me which keymaps to use when configuring runlevel 3, the gnome 3 window manager, or GDM; below is what I finally used for each (after several days of pain...):

Copy the keymap linked above to /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/dvorak/dvorakuk.map
In /etc/rc.conf, edit the KEYMAP line to read
KEYMAP="dvorakuk.map"
Gnome 3
System Settings>>Keyboard>>Typing>>Layout Settings
Click +
Select 'English (UK, Dvorak)'
#note that the keymap labelled as 'English (UK, Dvorak with UK Punctuation)' is very similar to the layout of classic dvorak with minimal movements to accommodate the sterling symbol. Unfortunately I have already configured my windows installation and keyboards at home and at work to use the wikipedia mapping above...

You might want to install the keyboard layout from AUR (workman-git). The console workman keymap is not part of the default installation.

That is not a practically empty xinitrc - that file only needs one line: exec WM. Other things are entirely optional, and some of them very useful, but I'd encourage you to stick with the simplest xinitrc that will do what you require.
Is slim involved? Probably. That is the source of many problems. But to start narrowing this down, I have 3 suggestions:
1) temporarily (at least) change your inittab to default to runlevel 3 ... actually, is it currently set to 5 or 3? if it is currently 3 that would explain why slim doesn't start.
2) at a tty in runlevel 3 use "xinit" instead of "startx". Startx is fine most of the time, but it is essentially just a complex wrapper for xinit. That complexity can often iadd useful functionality, but it *always* makes troubleshooting more difficult. So for now just use a vanilla 'xinit'.
3) remove dbus-launch from your exec line in xinitrc. This is done by console-kit so it is redundant and potentially problematic. Further BOTH of these are taken care of by slim, so I'd even suggest getting both a jump start on being ready for slim and simplifying troubleshooting by removing both of them. Just make that line "exec openbox-session"
Edit: adding one more:
4) temporarily switch out openbox-session for openbox. I suspect the reason feh's setting of the background is getting overridden is due to a script or setting in openbox's autostart settings - many of these are only invoked when "openbox-session" is called, while "openbox" starts *just* the window manager itself.

[SOLVED] Console Font Gets Reset During Boot

I've recently switched to Arch Linux and am quite happy with it. I've never had so much fun with Linux until a friend recommended Arch. I have since installed it on both my MacBook Pro and Mac mini. Everything has been pretty smooth, but I do have one issue.
During the boot process, the system starts up with its default console font, per the usual. I have edited /etc/vconsole.conf to set the font to Lat2-Terminus16 and to set the keyboard layout to Dvorak. Here's my current config:

FONT=Lat2-Terminus16
Part-way through the boot process, the font switches to use the new font. So far, so good. Shortly after, however, the screen gets cleared and continues to produce normal kernel messages until the screen is cleared once again and presents the boot prompt, but with the default console font as opposed to the font in vconsole.conf. I am able to re-set the font again by using the setfont command, but this is a bit of an inconvenience. The keyboard layout, however, is as it should be: set to Dvorak. So, systemd-vconsole-setup.service is doing its job.
I have narrowed down the problem to that when agetty starts, it seems to be resetting the font back to the default. I have tried adding nouveau (my machines have Nvidia) to the array of modules within /etc/mkinitcpio.conf and rebuilding initramfs, but I get the same results. I have also tried adding vconsole.font=Lat2-Terminus16 to the boot arguments in GRUB, but I get the same results. This is affecting both of my machines. I have updated them with pacman -Syu, but the problem still exists.
I have found a workaround which is to add a service to systemd (I call it fontfix.service), set it to start after getty.target, and have it included in multi-user.target. But is there a better way? Or is something else other than agetty resetting the font?

agetty appears to be resetting the console font after systemd-vconsole-setup.service sets the font. Is there a way to have agetty recognize what console font is currently is use? Or is something else other than agetty resetting the font?

After upgrade to 3.0.9 Norwegian characters sometimes display as questionmark

Changed IP address and upgraded Portal 3.0.8 to 3.0.9 on Solaris. After some other trouble, I think the only remaining problem is this:
The Norwegian characters fxe (did they show here?) are displayed correctly in most instances, but sometimes not (questionmark instead).
Note that, at first, none of the special characters were right. Then I ran "export NLS_LANG=American_America.WE8ISO8859P1" in a Unix console and restarted Apache. This helped, but as noted above, there are still some remaining questionmark characters.
Any suggestions?

I made it! Thanks to backup, I was able to make another go for the upgrade/migration, this time with NLS_LANG=NORWEGIAN_NORWAY.WE8ISO8859P1 in the iAS environment (we have a separate ias user, in addition to the oracle user; the latter for the db, the first for iAS and Portal).
So, the only problem was the missing NLS_LANG setting in the middle tier layer (ias). Note: The NLS_LANG was right in the oracle/DB environment all the time.
Another point: interMedia Text indexes had to be re-created in order for searches to work!

Data is not getting displayed in Management Console.

Hi Experts,
I am using BPC 7.5(M) SP04, Web server as IIS 7.0 and database server as SQL Server 2008 in Multi Server environment, Web Server is on Application Server (Windows Server 2008) and database server is on different machine.
I have configured the ODBC logging as documented in the install guide section : Setting Up ODBC Logging in IIS 7.0 for the Default Web Site and records are there in BPClog table of Appserver database but when I try to see data in Management console it doesn't show any data eg: It doesn't show any data after clicking "Who's Online" link under WebServer section of management console.
Do I need to do some more settings for getting the records display in Management Console.
Please Advice.

I have gone through the OPS guide but still "Who is Online" link of management console is not showing any data, I tried giving date range in Start date/end date fields and clicked on "Reload" button but it gives error message:

We Tried to set ListenAddress to hostname,ipaddress and localhost, still composites are not accessible with localhost for any of the three options. It seems like some network or weblogic configuration which is blocking local host 9711 port but same is accessible with hostname and ip address.
Do you have any idea on this ?

Error while running a project in em console

It was running fine all these days.server was restarted and i am facing problems shown below.
I am not able run any project(ex.Project1) in em console.I am getting 2 errors like.
1)DBLocker caught exception while retrieving locked messages.Will retry retrieval after 2 seconds
2)Error while invoking endpoint "http://<server name>:7001/soa-infra/services/default/Project1/StdService" from client; Security Subject: Administrators
Even if i unlock the account,its getting locked automatically.

ALV Grid control is based on the custom controls on the screen. When the program is scheduled in background, it tries to create GUI related front-end objects and hence the error u201CFatal Error u2013 GUI cannot be reachedu201D. This type of problem is common with all the programs that use the ALV grid control to display the output.
Solution:
Whenever we execute this type of programs in background, we should be passing a blank docking container instead of the custom container as parent to our grid control.
The docking container doesnu2019t need any of the custom controls on the screen; instead it attaches an area to any or all of the four edges of the screen (top, left, right or bottom). The behavior of the areas in the container is determined by the sequence in which they are initialized. Docking Containers are attached to the screen from the inside out. This means that when you create a second container, it is attached to the edge of the screen, and the container that was already there is pushed outwards.
Let us modify the standard program (by taking a copy of it) to enable it to execute it in background.
Following modifications have to be made:
·        Define a docking container in the program
data: or_doc type ref to cl_gui_docking_container .
·        At the time of creating a custom container, check if the program is being executed in background or foreground. If the program is scheduled in background, then create a docking container instead of custom container.

Error while opening the console in BPEL PM (Mid - tier)

When I try to open the bpel console and enter the default password - I get the following error message:
Cannot find instances.
An attempt to fetch the instances using the where condition " ( ci_state = 1 OR ci_state = 2 OR ci_state = 3 ) order by ci_modify_date desc " from the datastore has failed. The exception reported is: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Please check that the machine hosting the datasource is physically connected to the network. Otherwise, check that the datasource connection parameters (user/password) is currently valid.

it seems the data-seed failed in your dehydration store.
so i would check if user orabple exsits in your db (pw is orabpel) .. and recreate the schema by executing the following script (based on your db)
orabpel\system\database\scripts\domain_oracle.ddl

Error in creating a new user in j2ee 14 admin console

Hi,
I am getting the following error while trying to create a new user using the j2ee 1.4 admin console.:
A "com.sun.enterprise.tools.guiframework.exception.FrameworkError" was caught. The message from the exception: "Unable to get View for ViewDescriptor 'fileUsers'"
The root cause is "java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 0"

This problem wil happen only if you've created a user with an empty group id, and this issue is fixed for FCS .
You have two workarounds to use adminGUI for managing users:
1. Use CLI, and create a group id to this user, then you can use adminGUI.
2. Other option is remove the empty group id user from domain.xml, and then you can come back to adminGUI to create the user with some group id. I prefer the 1st option.
