Not a valid URL: Unexpected character found - Installation of SLD

During the installation of SAP Solution Manager 4.0 Support Release 3 I am installing a local SLD (this is a test environment). When at the "Configure System Landscape Directory" phase of the installation I get the following error, java.net.MalformedURLException: Not a valid URL: Unexpected character found ['-' at position 18].
Any help would be appreciated.

  • Firefox Home with Search panel does not load/appear. When I click the home icon a message appears that says Firefox is not a valid URL. Never did that before?

Nothing different from the question. Firefox just does not load. When I place the mouse cursor over the home icon and do not click, a message panel seemingly powered by My Yahoo states "drag the AT&T globe to the left of the home icon in the toolbar and drop it there, then select "yes" from the pop up window and you are done." This was an action I did recently (not today) but don't see what this has to do with Firefox

  • Error Installing SQL Server Express 2008: '' is not a valid login or you do not have permission.

I have tried installing SQL Server 2008 multiple times on my machine, and I always receive this error about 3/4 of the way through: '' is not a valid login or you do not have permission.
I have tried installing both SQL Server Express 2008 with Tools and SQL Server Express 2008 with Advanced Services, and they both fail the same way. I am trying to do a new stand-alone installation.
I'm running Windows XP Home Edition SP3.
Looking into the error, some forums say I have to install it from THE Administrator account, and not an account with administrator permissions; it also cannot be in Safe Mode, because then the Windows Installer won't work. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to login to the Administrator account. I can go to the home login screen, do ctrl+alt+del twice, and attempt to login to the Administrator account, but I receive this error: Unable to Log You on because of an Account Restriction.
Other forums say that in the Server Configuration section, all you have to do is provide the username and a strong password from an administrative account on the computer, and it doesn't have to be THE Administrator. Well, I did that, but for some reason it doesn't recognize my username and password, it says something like "The credentials you provided for the SQL Server Agent are invalid". BUT THOSE ARE THE CORRECT CREDENTIALS FOR MY ADMINISTRATIVE USER! So I'm forced to use one of the accounts without a password, like NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. That's the only way I can get past this step.
Also, just FYI, on the next step, which is Database Engine Configuration, I am using Mixed Mode for the Security Mode. I AGAIN provide a password, and then add my current user (who IS an administrator on my machine!) to the SQL Server Administrators box.
But yet, it fails every single time.
This is pathetic and ridiculous. I must have tried to install this thing 15 times, that is not an exaggeration. I'm posting this on several other forums as well, maybe an MVP or Bill Gates himself can help me.
I have one of the log files from a failed installation. If someone would like to see it, I will post it.

    Have a nice day
PS : if you are talking about the Sql Server Agent Service, it is disabled for Sql Server Express. It is enabled only for the Workgroup/Standard/Dev and Entreprise Editions
Sorry, but I've tried the suggestion in that link, and it hasn't helped me.
For anyone wonder, the link is talking about the problem in Server Configuration where I enter my Windows user account and password (which is in the Administrative group), but it says the credentials are invalid.  The link suggests that you need to either enter your Windows account (which I did, and it wouldn't let me go to the next step), or to use one of the built in accounts (which I also tried, but it gave me the " '' is not a valid login" error during the installation).
    Any other ideas?
I haven't had any answers from any other forums either, so I'll just post my log file in case anyone wants to look at this:

  • Setup not a valid Win32 app

I just cleaned out my HD and reinstalled Windows XP. In trying to install iTunes I get a message saying that the ITunesSetup.exe is not a valid Win32 app, and the installation doesn't happen.

Most folks have seen this caused by bad wireless router settings. They connected directly to their cable modem and were able to download a valid setup file, after bypassing the wireless router. Perhaps that will work for you.
Another idea is to find a friend who was able to download it successfully, and copy iTunesSetup.exe from their PC to a USB stick, so you can get it on your PC.

    Hi,
    I have a MBP 13' Late 2011 and Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C1514).

Since, I can't launch the ConnectIQ simulator app, I have this message in console :

  • "not a valid short file name" and "invalid character" install errors

Disclaimer: Apple does not necessarily endorse any suggestions, solutions, or third-party software products that may be mentioned in the topic below. Apple encourages you to first seek a solution at Apple Support. The following links are provided as is, with no guarantee of the effectiveness or reliability of the information. Apple does not guarantee that these links will be maintained or functional at any given time. Use the information below at your own discretion.
    Symptoms
While upgrading or uninstalling a Windows software application (such as iTunes for Windows or QuickTime for Windows), you may receive one of the following error messages:
file name is not a valid short file name
The folder path 'folder name' contains an invalid character.
... where file name could be the name of any file, and folder name could be the name of any folder.
In the case of software that uses advertised shortcuts (such as recent versions of iTunes for Windows or Safari for Windows), the messages may also appear when attempting to launch software that has already been installed.
    Resolution
The error messages are usually caused by damage to the installation database for the application. Clearing the installation database for the application by using the Windows Installer CleanUp utility can usually get you past the error message.
    (1) Click [here|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301] first, and read the important information about the utility.
    (2) Click the *Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility package now* link on that page to download a file titled msicuu2.exe.
    (3) Open the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install it.
    (4) In your Start menu click *All Programs* and then click *Windows Install Clean Up.* The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (5) Select the software you're getting the "not a valid short file name" or "invalid character" message for from the list and click Remove.
    (6) Click OK in the confirmation dialog that appears.
    (7) If you have multiple entries for the software you're getting the "not a valid short file name" or "invalid character" message for, repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other entries for the software.
    (8) Click Exit.
    (9) Restart the computer.
If you were getting the "not a valid short file name" or "invalid character" message when trying to upgrade or launch software, now try reinstalling the latest version of the software.
If you were getting the "not a valid short file name" or "invalid character" message when just trying to uninstall software, program files for the software in question will remain on the PC after it has been removed by the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. If you want to remove leftover program files, check in at the appropriate forum at [Apple Discussions|http://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa?categoryID=1] and ask which files can be safely removed.

  • Can't open PDF.  Program does not have valid digital signature. No valid Acrobat S/N found.

I recently bought new HP computer with Windows 7.  I loaded my Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium.  Illustrator tries to open then just disappears.  I can not open PDF's.  Get the following message:  This program doesn't have valid digital signature that verifies it's signature.  No valid Acrobat S/N found. Acrobat will now quit.  Then: There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Please exit and try again.  When I exit - computer locks up.

    These can be frustrating.
    Try restarting your PC.
    Using a different browser.
There have been reports that this can be due to router problems.
A simple way round it is to get a friend to download the installer for your and put it on a USB stick.

  • Installation error 1325 Templates is not a valid short name

Installing the latest XE on Windows 2000 with 1 GB of RAM. I get the message 'Error 1325 Templates is not a valid short file name'. (I'm installing as administrator by the way.)
I've checked the forum and found one hit for this problem. I have been over to Microsoft.com (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=328162) and got the download for the installer clean up utility.
When I run this utility, I do not get an option to clean up Oracle XE anywhere - so I cannot proceed any further with the install.
I have had a previous version of XE installed, but I received a few errors during running of the scripts so I had to manually run the failed scripts and all was well. Unfortunately, I have had to remove it (it killed the PC as I only had 256 MB of RAM back then) but now I cannot re-install.
Anyone got any ideas about how I can get past this error please?
    Thanks,
    Norman.

I have finally found the solution. The problem affected all subsequent installations of any app using an MSI installer.
The registry entry for HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\UserShellFolders\Templates was defined as %USERPROFILE%\Templates with a type of REG_SZ. Unfortunately, because of the %USERPROFILE% part, it should have been a REG_EXPAND_SZ to get the expansion of the environment variable.
Using REGEDT32 (Regedit doesn't allow the type to be specifically chosen) navigate to the above location and note down the Template setting. Delete the Template value. (Edit->Delete when Templates is highlighted.
    Now Edit->Add Value.
    Enter Templates as the name.
    Choose a Type of 'REG_EXPAND_SZ'
    Click OK.
Type in the value you noted down earlier, probably %USERPROFILE%\Templates
    Click OK.
Check it and exit from the regedt32 app.
Now, double click on the OracleXE.exe file to install it. You do not need to be an administrator to do this.
If you do try to install as an administrator, you will have to redo all of the above because you only changed it for your own login.
Trying to Shift+Right-Click and Run as to install as an administrator will continue to give you the same error that I originally reported.
I suspect that another method of changing the registery is simply to change the %USERPROFILE% part of the original REG_SZ entry to the fully expanded path to something like c:\documents and settings\username\.
    Have fun.
    Cheers,
    Norman.

  • The data source "....." referenced in the form template is not valid or cannot be found

    Greetings,
I have an InfoPath 2013 form that uses an external data connection.  The data connection became corrupt (somehow, no one knows who changed what).  A user went in to InfoPath designer and created a new data connection and changed all references
to use that new data connection.  Now the form cannot be published at all with the error
"The data source "GetUserProfileByName" referenced in the form template is not valid or cannot be found"
The new data source they created is GetUserProfileByName2 and changed all references.
Of course, since it is broke, they asked me to see if I can find the issue.  I went through the form looking to see if they missed any references to the old data connection and can't find anything.
Where is InfoPath storing the old data connection information and where can I remote it?  I looked in the manifest and don't see it there either.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you!

    Hi Bob,
There are many XML schema files for the data connection, I recommend to check if the references to the XML files have been changed to the new schema files in the manifest file.
For example, if we create a data connection called GetUserProfileByName, then there will be one XML file and three XML schema files for the data connection.
Please make sure that all the references are updated in the manifest file.
    Thanks,
    Victoria

Do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can skip the step to create a new profile, that is not necessary for this issue.

  • Hi, is this the right product for enabling flash contents? I need support for my Harvard e-learnings pls.  After downloading Presenter, I get an error message 'Not a valid presenter' when I add the Harvard url.  Need help.

    Hi
Is there anothe product for enabling flash content.

    Pallavi,
Adobe Presenter is a plug-in application to MS PowerPoint that allows you to add video, audio, Flash and quiz content in to a presentation and then author it out as a Flash based presentation that can the be delivered to others via the web. You are asking about enabling Flash content. In what browser/application are you needing to enable Flash Content?
The 'Not a valid presenter' message is most likely due to you not have the rights to author content to Harvard's e-learning system, but without knowing if the URL is for a Connect account or some other e-learning platform, it's hard to give any useful insight.

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
