  • Computer not authorized to play this music message

This problem has just started to occur. I get a message that says, "this computer is not authorized to play purchased music" when I try to do a slide show. I then authorize it, but I still can't get the music that I have purchased to play.

You'll have to go into iTunes and reauthorize those tracks you've purchased from the iTunes store. If you need more info on how, post your question in the iTunes forum.

  • Computer Not Authorized to play purchased music

After upgrading from 10.4 to 10.5 I tried to sync my iPod touch with my computer to transfer a new album I bought from iTunes. I got the followingn message: "This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPod...(nome of iPod).. Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased from the iTunes Store?" I checked authorize, and got a message that the computer is already authorized. I tried to sync again, got the same message. I next deauthorized the computer and reauthorized it. I still get the message that the computer is not authorized to play purchased items....
Any ideas on what I need to do to be able to sync my music?

Try the quick solution first. Use the iTunes "Store" menu and select deauthorize computer. Then select authorize computer. Try to sync again.

  • ITunes says my computer is not authorized to play purchased music

    This is false.
I've already authorized it. The computer in question is my work computer and the window of opportunity to gain access (to the internet) in order to authorize that computer is few and far between.
Said computer will play some music I've purchased, but not others.
Is there SOME way around having to access the 'net in order to authorize this computer? Which I have already authorized.

Is it possible that the tracks that won't play were purchased through a different iTunes Store account? A computer must be authorized to each iTunes Store account used to purchase tracks you want to play. If you Get Info on the problem tracks, it will show you what account was used to purchase those tracks.

Sorry but no, there isn't. A computer must be able to access the iTunes Store at least briefly to be authorized. Otherwise the only way around the problem would be to burn the tracks to audio CD on another computer (one that can be authorized) and take those CDs to work.

  • HT1420 I have "authorized" my new computer--still not authorized to play itunes music associated with old apple id

I have "authorized" my new computer in itunes to play and sync old itunes library. However, not all songs can be played due to a continuing authority problem. Apparently, these old songs are associated with a old user apply id--and old--no longer accessible email address. What can I do to associate music (which I paid for) on an old outdated apple id to my current apple id?  Thank you!

Copy it from the other computer or from your backup copy of your other computer.

  • Why is my macbook pro not authorized to play my itunes music nor accepting my mobileme account info?

I loaded my music on my iPhone 4 (which plays just fine from there) but when it syncs to my macbook pro it says this computer is not authorized to play my music. To authorize this computer it asks me to log into MobileMe (for which I know both the email and password and can log into in another screen) but it says it does not recognize my account, password or any security questions. Any help in getting the so-called integrated MobileMe/Apple system to recognize each other so I can play my music on all of my devices????

Try resetting your Apple ID password.

  • This computer is not authorized to play or burn...

I just installed Windows XP in my computer and I downloaded music from Apple store. When I try to sync my iPod, it says that I am not authorized to play the music. I can't even seem to burn it into a CD. Does anybody know what I need to do? Thanks.

Choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes, or play one of the purchased songs on your computer; after providing your account details, you should now be able to transfer the music to your iPod.

  • Not authorized to play on my computer

I recently had to format my PC but backed up all of my iTunes music. When reinstalling iTunes and trying to play my songs its telling me that I am not authorized to play the music. I can let up to 5 computers listen to my library but I shouldnt have to since this is the same computer, same OS and same Windows XP CD Key.
Anyone know how I can go about not having to authorize each one of my songs for the same computer Ive been using for years?

You should be able to authorize the computer in general under ... advanced, I believe. It will be literally called "Authorize Computer" as a menu item.
Sadly, it shouldn't be called "Authorize Computer" -- it should be called "Authorize this iTunes installation". I do not know of a way of retroactivly unauthorizing a computer or of making it recognize it is an already-authorized computer. However, once a year, you can deauthorize all prior authorized computers.

  • Error Message: Music video was not copied not authorized to play on computr

I just bought my iphone last night. I bought a music video from itunes, but when I go to sync it to my iphone, I get the message: Music Video cannot be copied. You are not authorized to play it on this computer. I downloaded some free pod casts and trailers and had no problem syncing. I am using my personal laptop and only have the administrative user account set up. Does anyone has any clue how to correct this? Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks.
    Paul S.

    PB4less,
Play the video one time in iTunes, you may be prompted to enter your account information to authorize the computer to play content purchased from the iTunes Store.
Once that has been done, it should copy over.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Replaced logic board...iTunes now says "not authorized to play music"

I had the logic board replaced in my Mac Book Pro, restored my 4GB iPod Mini, downloaded iTunes 7.4, and now, when I try to sync with the iPod, I get a message that says that I am not authorized to play any of the music on this computer. I've authorized the computer via Store-->Authorize Computer and have only 2 of 5 computers authorized. I'm wondering if iTunes is seeing my MacBook Pro as a new copmputer because it has a new logic board. I did not lose any hard disk content, so I'm wondering what else the problem could be. Anyone have any ideas on how to approach this? Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ethan

Almost certainly. Check out the customer service article.

  • Not authorized to play music?

For about a year now, I've had trouble playing music. I got a new computer last year and I think this is when the problem started, but I'm pretty sure it's on Apple's side, not mine.
I'll try to play a certain song, and iTunes tells me I can't play that song because my computer isn't authorized to play music from MY account.
My computer is authorized to play the music on my account, I've even tried deauthorizing and then re-authorizing but it doesn't help. Downloading the songs again *might* work but I have over 1200 songs, and probably about 25% of them don't work anymore. Some I've even bought fairly recently, others I've had on my account for years. The only songs I don't have a problem with are those that were added from a CD.
I can't even charge my iPod through my computer, because every time I hook it up, it disables the songs on  my iPod also...
iTunes is updated fully, excluding the latest update (get tired of downloading updates every other week, so I haven't updated yet).
I have 3 out of 5 computers authorized.
On an Asus laptop, Windows 7.
If any other information is needed, please let me know.
    Does anyone have any idea what's going on here? Please? ;-;
An unrelated question, how can I deauthorize the other 2 computers? I no longer have either. One burnt in a house fire and the other got run over by a truck (...yeah). I've looked for answers to this before but can't find anything other than  "You need to deauthorize from the computer" which obviously isn't an option here.

I just got a laptop that uses windows vista none of my previously purchased itune songs are showing up in my library. When I follow your instructions, it still does not work. I get the same error message about authorizing my computer again. I am not a computer person - please help!!! a

  • Itunes says some of music is not authorized to play on my computer

my old computer's screen was damaged, so i went out and got another one when i did geek squad at best buy took the info off my old computer and put it on my new one this included itunes with all of my music, when i went to sync my ipod to the new computer some of my music was not put on because it said it was not authorized to play on my computer, is there a way to fix this?
    thanks in advance.

    Hey there,
Is your iTunes library authorized? If not, head to store drop down menu and click "Authorize." If it is already, try deauthorizing and then reauthorizing it. See if that helps.

  • Purchased Music won't go to my nano- says not authorized to play

For the last 3 months - with different versions of itunes - this same error msg, "Some of the items in the itunes Library including "Song X", were not copied to the ipod "my unit name" because you are not authorized to play them on this computer. The real zinger here is that music I purchased prior to the error that used to download to the same nano and worked, is now wiped off my nano. I see the songs, but the only ones that will sync are the ones I did not purchase from itunes. Any one else with same issue or know how to fix? Thanks.

Choose Authorize Computer from the Store menu in iTunes or play one of those songs; whem prompted, provide your iTunes Store account details.

  • During DVD creation, get this message "Music not authorized to play"

I cannot get the music to record on my DVD. This just started two days ago right after I upgraded to v 7.3.1 of iTunes. I have successfully burned dozens of DVDs prior to this. I wonder if the iTunes upgrade is not compatible with iDVD now.
My problem is that I continuously get a message that the 3 songs I am using are "not authorized to play on this computer". This is BS because I downloaded them on this machine and they will play in iTunes. 7 days ago, these 3 songs downloaded onto the first DVD that I burnt, so they are authorized.
Also I get a message in iDVD that the program cannot access iTunes and that I must upgrade to version 4.0 or later.

    Hi Tom
Don't know the real problem BUT accordingly
    music/audio from iTunes there
often is problems about - silece parts when making
    the DVD.
The work around this is - and might most probably
    help You too.
    - In iTunes select audio needed
    - Export out as an audio-DV .aiff
    - Use the audio on this in Your movie project
∆ Now it should work OK
Tedious - Yes I know but this is a working solution.
    Yours Bengt W
thanks for your suggestion. I can try that, but it is tedious and I have not had to do that before. I want to be able to do this as quickly as I did before when the music played all the way through and I did not get those messages that said "this computer is not authorized to play this song"
I want to go back to iTunes, v 7.3 that I used before the recent upgrade to 7.3.1 since that older version worked.
Are you listening Apple techs???? You have a problem with v 7.3.1 upgrade. I am going to try to do this project on my lap mac which has not bee upgraded.

  • Not authorized to play music that I bought??

I had used my laptop for my itunes music for a while, but then I got a desktop. I wanted to get my itunes library on my desktop so I authorized my account for that computer(You can authorize 5 per account), so I plugged my ipod in. It said for most of my songs that I was not authorized(which I was) to play them.

    I really need some help.

I'm having the same problem! I recently bought a new computer and want to transfer all of my purchased songs/movies to my new computer/itunes. I authorized my iphone and attempted to transfer all of my purchased music/movies. I was able to transfer all but 44 items.
This is the message that I see: "Some of the purchased items on the iphone, including....could not be transferred to your itunes library because you are not authorized to play them on this computer."
So I tried to re-authorize, closed itunes, opened itunes and tried to transfer and got the same message. I also tried de-authorize and authorize again, but I got the same results.
    HELP?!
