Not charging error?

Is anyone not able to connect there apple iPad to the computer and charge it and sync it?

Most computers, especially older ones, do not provide enough power to their USB ports in order to charge the iPad at a sufficient rate - it may still be charging slowly, and it should be a bit quicker if the iPad's screen is off. But the most efficient way to charge it is via the wall charger that came with it.

  • Battery not charging error

I have the ipad mini. After I did the update to 6.1, when I plug it in to charge it says "Not Charging" next to the battery icon.  Even though it says not charging and the battery icon doesn't show the connection, it is still getting charged. Does anyone else have this problem?  I am hoping it is a 6.1 glitch

So...after a back to the basics trouble shooting session, my ipad is free from that false "not charging" error. Whatever 6.1 did to work out other battery issues, made my aftermarket wall plug show a little short on power. That plug worked on 6.0.2, and still does fine on my iPhone on iPod.  I like the aftermarket plug because it has a better angle for the USB cable. Back to using the apple plug so I don't have to see that false error and it charges a bit faster too

iphone 4S will not charge, error that USB device not working, found any suggestions?

    Hello Chambless,
The troubleshooting steps below can help get your iPhone to charge.
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

  • Charging - Not Charging Error - E71

Hello all, I have a E71 thats about 6 months old, recently I when i plug the charger into the phone I get the standard 'Charging' notification then straight after that it says 'Not charging'. I have searched the net but havent found a suitable resolution. Does anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks in advance

this normally indicates a hardware fault. Nokia should repair this under warranty as long as the fault hasn't been caused by customer
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Macbook Pro 2011 battery not charging error code

My Macbook Pro just turned 1 year old and the battery might be defective or dead ( Warranty just passed by ) it originally cam with Snow Leopard but I WEB upgraded to Lion (which was far from being easy ... had alot of crashes and hanging happening)
I have the now infamous battery not charging problem. The OSX status bar shows the battery icon with a 'X' meaning no battery. I think the MacBook is not charging the battery because OSX doesn't see a battery.
Today I just noticed that (IMPORTANT) with the power adapter connected, pressing the battery power level button displays a 5 blinks code. Otherwise with power adaptor not connected, the battery seems even too weak to light up even a single LED".
Even though I do a proper shutdown, it is to note that the MacBook Pro starts right away when I plug the power adaptor. I starts right away without me even pressing the power button.
Yerterday I really though the MacBook Pro was not going to work anymore, it kept abruptly shuting down again and again. I couldn't do any of the work I was supposed to.
I did PRAM and SMC resets and eventually I was able to startup the MacBook Pro and do some work but the battery still remains unavailable.
I have 2 of the same 85 Watt charger ( the first one being from a previous MacBook Pro 2008 --- which is waiting to get a repair ) and both performs the same: not charging.
Maybe the battery discharged beyond the point it can be seen my the MacBook Pro and OSX. Just like car battery, if it get discharges way too much, you won't even see the nominal voltage on the terminals even without any load.
EDIT: just noticed that even though it looks like no battery OSX reports that power source IS BATTERY (in the OSX status top bar )

It's like mpg for a car. It depends upon how you drive, the weather, the terrain. "7 hours" doesn't mean anything. Your mileage will vary. If I am not doing anything I see 13 hours. As soon as I start surfing or watching a video it changes. Stop obsessing.

  • Ipod Nano 7th Generation - Not Charging / Error Msg From Comp 'Attached Device Malfunctioned'

My IPod Nano 7th gen arrived last night.  I was able to turn it on and select language 'english'  When I connected it to my computer it did not recognize my iPod, so it also did not show up in iTunes,  Error message: "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned.  and Windows does not recognize it."
My Nano turned off and went blank.   I have tried to reset it.  Nothing works, just blank.
No charge icon, I have tried all USB ports on my comp, but nothing works- (but my USB ports work fine)  I have read that if my iPod has not been charged fully, the computer my not recognize it.
I am now using an adapter and trying to charge it thru the wall power socket.  It has been connected for half an hour.  Still cannot turn iPod on.
I have Windows 7 running on comp.  Itunes is current version 10.7.  I have rebooted my comp several times and re-installed iTunes.
I have an iPhone and an iPod shuffle that are both synced with iTunes on this comp, they work fine.
Is my iPod broken?  Do I send it back?  Anyone else having the same problems?  Please Help !!

I had this problem as well.  I have a PC running Windows 7. I have installed the latest iTunes 10.7 software (64 bit). I reset the nano by holding down the start and home button for 10 seconds.  Then - I plugged it into a PC running Windows XP and was able to format the iPod. Ejected it and plugged it into my Windows 7 computer and then the computer recognized it and I was able to load it. There is some problem with iTunes 7 on Windows 7.

  • Palm Pre crazy symptoms: "phone offline", will not charge battery, will not start, error message "an error has occured that cannot be resolved"

This is a long description of a series of problems with my new Palm Pre. You may wish to search the text to find your specific issue(s). There is no solution in my post. Look for possible answers in the responses to come.
I bought my Palm Pre 4 days ago and it arrived 2 days ago. Phone worked great. Last night I plugged in the phone and updated the OS. After completion, I selected "Done" and went to bed.
    - First Series of Issues: "Phone Offline", will not charge battery -
In upper lefthand corner of the phone there is the message "phone offline". Although the phone has been charging all night it reads "26% battery". I called the general Sprint tech support number and we tried the following things:
    1) Restart phone (press and hold power button, then select "turn off". after power down, press and hold power button to power on.)
    2) Reset the phone (several different ways - call tech support so that you do this correctly)
The individual at Sprint then sent me to another tech support person, presumably 2nd tier.
    - Second Series of Issues: Error message "an error has occured that cannot be resolved" -
Sprint tech support person #2 also had me restart and reset the phone in a number of ways. In her words "we've tried every palm pre trick I know" and each time the phone was unresponsive. Often we received the error message "phone is offline". We did a full erase and after that the phone would no longer restart. At this point the error message came up saying "an error has occured that cannot be resolved" which referred me to www.palm.com for assistance. I think it's important to note here that this was not the typical error message (black screen with white letters) but rather the blue sky background with a semitransparent box over it with white text.
Sprint tech support person #2 then connected me with Palm support and the dance continued. Again we tried a whole bunch of resetting and restarting and erasing options. Palm support instructed me to go to: www.palm.com/rom to download WebOS Doctor, which I did. I downloaded the file. While that was happening he had me hold the "volume up" button and plug the phone into the charger. This caused a USB symbol to appear on the phone. When the file was complete I received an error message that the file couldn't run. Palm tech support person seemed surprised. I mentioned that I was on a Mac and he said he couldn't help me. He then transferred me to another Palm support person who works with Mac users.
Palms tech support person #2 then informed me that I should have selected the "mac" download option on www.palm.com/rom. I verbally walked her through the whole series of webpages, telling her that it says that you need Windows (version whatever) or Mac (version whatever) but that at no time was there an option to download a different WebOS Doctor for different operating systems. After some more discussion she told me she would have to have someone call me back tomorrow.
    - Third Series of Issues: phone stuck on USB symbol -
So at the moment the phone is completely useless. Not fantastic. I booted up the mac in Windows 7 and downloaded WebOS Doc and received the same error. I also ran Windows Vista virtually and received the same error. Later this afternoon I'm heading into work to try the same thing on Windows XP.
In the meantime, I got onto this forum and located a thread that provided a direct link to the necessary file:
    palm.cdnetworks.net/staging/rom/webosdoctorp100ewwsprint.jar
After downloading that file, which I realized could totally be a virus, I was able to get WebOS Doc working on my computer. It required that I recharge the phone completely before beginning and now it's on the screen that says "Don't disconnect your phone" and the file is at 3% complete. Only... it's been at 3% complete for almost 30 minutes.
I am hoping that Palm will follow up with me tomorrow, but I'm leaving at 7am on a business trip and would love to have the thing working. Any suggestions are welcome, even if you can just tell me how to get the think disconnected safely before my flight tomorrow. I don't fancy getting through security with my phone wired to my laptop.
    Thanks.

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
Our phone support is open every day Monday through Sunday, although there are different hours of operation for the weekend. If after a webOS Doctor reset you are still experiencing the same problems, I would likely recommend replacement, either in a local store for your carrier or through our technical support department.
There may be additional technical support offered or suggested over the phone, this would need to be done first before a replacement could be issued.
    Hope this helps,

Unable to charge my Ipad 4 with my Laptop (HP 7010tx) USB . I am Getting error message as "Not Charging" . Please give a solution for this ...???

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • IPhone 4S will not start or charge, error message when trying to restore in recovery mode

So my iPhone 4S shorted out the other night while I was charging it. I did the hard reset and it restarted itself. But later that evening, it turned off and wouldn't restart no matter what and would not charge. When I connect it to my computer (mac) iTunes recognizes it and says it is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. It starts the restore process and the apple logo comes up with a loading bar but then when it gets to the "verifying restore with Apple" it gives an error message (9) and then the phone goes back. Please help!

    Hey rileyec,
I found this information about error 9:
    Error 9
This error occurs when the device unexpectedly loses its USB connection with iTunes. This can occur if you manually disconnect the device during the restore process. You can resolve this issue by using USB troubleshooting, using a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable, trying another USB port, restoring on another computer, or by eliminating conflicts from third-party security software.
via: iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
If those steps do not resolve the issue, I would attempt to perform a recovery-mode restore:
iOS: Unable to update or restore

  • Helix Tablet battery problems - invalid, 0%, not charging, battery error

    Still having problems....
I was hoping someone at Lenovo/ IBM could help me...
I am unable to register a service request online.
I have found the Lenovo website very difficult to use and there does not seem to be anybody to contact by email.
    Product: Lenovo Helix: 36971A1
I have done a lot of research about this - I have read all the Lenovo help forums and have thoroughly been through their websites to try and resolve this issue but alas no luck. ...
I have a battery issue - I realise that this has been written about extensively but like I said none of the methods suggested (i.e. software updates, BIOS update, uninstalling drivers etc) has solved my problem.
I purchased my machine in June and up until 3 weeks ago it was working perfectly. But now...
In short, the tablet part of my Lenovo Helix seems not to charge. Also Lenovo Settings app sems to have changed - now no option for maximising battery or to fully charge like people have been mentioning. I simply can't find this option anymore.
-Computer seems to only run on battery from the keyboard dock
-Once seperated from the keyboard dock, the Tablet section (having been plugged in to power point for hours only lasts about 30mins)
-Battery level for tablet shows 0% plugged in - not charging
-Keyboard dock seems to charge fine and shows true battery power level - charges to 100%
-Once separated tablet part only works for short period before it dies, (turns off after around 30mins)
-Every time computer is turned on, power settings icon displays saying : "there is a battery error"  click here for replacement"
-Lenovo Settings and Companion app say "battery is invalid"
-Last few days only - Lenovo Setting - as well as not displaying battery condition for Tablet only a -, is now also saying -Battery 1 was completing discharged and needs to be recharged. This may take ten hours or more.
-When plugged in for a long period Lenovo Setting App shows power status at 50% and second battery attached
    - I tried charging over night for at least 10 hours, no luck.
As I said the keyboard dock seems ok, problem seems to be with tablet battery or software  ????? .
I would appreciate it greatly if someone could please respond and offer some help. Perhaps the problem can be solved remotely as I am not keen on sending my computer to Madrid to get fixed - I am worried I would be without my computer for weeks.
    Thank you in advance

hi, I'm exactly similar problem.  it is really annoying. I have sent it to service centre once, they simply don't know and just reset the unit by pressing small hole at the tablet, the they do full recharge.  some how it works.
later, at the same day occurred again and I tried replicate same process but no luck. then I follow instruction from one of the suggestion in this forum, it solved. it was 2-3 mth ago.
now, after I upgrade to windows 8.1, the problem came back. all of this problem created from lenovo power management software together with their metro apps which setting what power management should do.
the real culprits when you have setup some setting, then you undock or dock the tablet.. so I believe the software got confuse between the current setting with two unit (keyboard and tablet) especially if you ever play around with setting to extend the battery life which the power management will allow the battery to be charged not more than 50%. what the bad idea ... may not so bad but bad execution...
we dont want this stupid geniuses ... we just want our unit working as when we purchase it. your latest driver is suck... big time... u should fire your engineer. .. pay 2k but got monkey ....

  • MacBook PRO 3,1 17", 2.4 Ghz NOT CHARGING - TURNS OFF WITHOUTH AC ADAPTER

    Hello, please help me!!
Yesterday my 17", 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook PRO 3,1 just started to be in NOT CHARGING MODE..
I don't know where is the problem.
About i half year ago, i have bought a new battery for this machine and it worked until today great. The battery capacity and also time of use was very good…about 2-3 hours of work - or longer if i didn't work so much on this machine.
Yesterday evening i started the MacBook PRO without AC cable plugged in and during the startup session the screen lights off, and also the machine completely turned off. I thought it is a battery remaining capacity problem at 0%, so i plugged in the AC adapter to charge again the battery. But the indicator on the cable still lights green (vexer orange again as one day before) and the battery status is showing NOT CHARGING. If I unplug now the AC adapter the computer turn immediately off. So i loose all my data and everything not saved.
I was looking to system profiler to find the problem in the battery, or to see where should be the trouble. But there it looks like it is s all OK. Using the coconutBattery 2.7 I see this:
    Current charge: 3391 mAh
    Maximum charge: 6446 mAh
    at 52%
    Curent capacity: 6646 mAh
    Design capacity: 6800 mAh
    at 94%
    Age of mac: 45 Months
    Battery loadcycles: 107
    Battery temperature: 30.0° C
    Battery power usage: 593.4 Watt
I tired to fix the CMU with releasing battery - holding 5 sec power and so on..
Also tried to repair permissions if there is some possible error - it only writes this one not repairable file:
Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAg ent" has been modified and will not be repaired.
Do you know where should be the problem? Is is the hardware or software problem?
How to FIX this error? I cant ow use this machine for my work on the go, which is for me very important.
If it is the HW problem what type of arrow it should be? Macbook is in grate condition. Last year there was an Graphic Card error, so i gave it to Apple center and they fixed it with the Apple Care program for this machine…
Its possible the battery is dead? Should i visit the Apple store to try another battery or the MacBook has serious problem in HW on motherboard?
Thank you in advance for help and any possible solutions.

  • Ipod shuffle 2nd gen does not charge on new 5W USB power adapter

    Hi,
my perfectly functional ipod shuffle 2nd gen with original dock will not charge with the new Continental Europe 5W USB power adapter, even though the specs of the power adapter include the 2nd generation shuffle. Shuffle will blink orange three times, longer than normal blinking, and then do nothing. probably nothing I can do about it, but worth a note. The US model of the new 5W adapter does not include the 2nd gen shuffle, so maybe it is an error on the apple specs page.
Maybe the 2nd gen needs more than 5W to charge?

indeed, it needs the bigger 12 Watt Adapter and the apple site is wrong.

  • Major Drama...5G 60GB Video dismounting, not charging, corrupt & more!

Here is my situation. This is long, sorry in advance . I hope someone here has some insight.
As stated in the title I have a 5G 60 GB video ipod. I got it in March of 2006 when it was the replacement under warranty for my non-serviceable crashed 4G.
It has been in for several repairs under my extended warranty. First control wheel and headphone jack last May. Then hard drive crash (sadface error) in July 08. After I got it back that time, although in good working order it occasionally began dismounting itself from my computer. It was a pain because it still showed "Do not Disconnect" but would not be found in iTunes. So I would use the windows "safely remove hardware" function to remove it and then replug it and it would mount. It did this more and more frequently as time went on and sometime in Oct/Nov 08 I began getting the error message "Scan and fix Jen's ipod F". I looked it up and supposedly it is just a Vista glitch so I didn't worry about it.
It still worked OK so I did not take it in for repair over these minor issues. On Jan 31 09 the battery finally went, it would no longer hold a charge.
I took it in for repair and the battery was replaced. It took a while to get it back and I just got it back last Sunday March 1.
The day I got it back, I plugged it into the computer and after letting it charge for about 10 hours, began the work of manually transferring over my library. (I use disk mode and prefer to do this manually instead of just synching) I managed to transfer about 2K songs (IIRC about 15 GB) at this time and took it to work Monday. It was, of course, fully charged.
At work that day, I listened to music for about 6 hours. It worked fine, although the battery drained faster than usual (normally I get from 12-16 hours of use -music- before needing to charge). When the indicator got to red, I plugged it into the wall adapter for while. After about 1/2 hr the battery had not seemed to charge at all. I tried a different wall plug, no change.
At home I set it into my radio/ipod dock and after 5 hours it had not charged any in that device either. Finally I plugged it in to my computer via my USB and still nothing.
At this point I pretty much figured my new battery is defective, however a couple of days later I decided to troubleshoot a little deeper. I uninstalled/reinstalled the newest version of iTunes 8.02.20 on both my laptops. This time when I mounted it, it really wigged out. Since the battery was still going (but not charging) I tried transferring several songs over to see if that would work.
Right away it froze up. I tried to disconnect and of course no dice so I tried through Windows and got this message " Windows cannot stop your Apple ipod USB device because a program is still using it. Close any programs that might be using it and try again" So I close iTunes. Immediately before I can try to disconnect it, iTunes comes back up again, as it is obviously trying to mount. But when it does, on the summary page where it shows the picture and details of my device, it is instead showing a picture of an old, white click wheel ipod and not my black 5G. Also it does not say :"Jen's ipod" in the list it just says "ipod"...so when I click on it I get this lovely gem: " Itunes has detected an ipod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to Restore this ipod before it can be used with iTunes. You may also try disconnecting and reconnecting the ipod". Ugh. So I tried to disconnect via windows and it worked. I reconnected it, like the error message said to do and again it came up as the phantom click wheel ipod. I clicked on it and got the corrupt message again, so this time I tried to Restore it. As soon as I clicked Restore button iTunes froze and I had to use Task Manager to shut it down.
I loaded iTunes again and reconnected it in another attempt to Restore it, but this is the error message I got this time; "USB device is not recognized. One of the devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it". THEN the ipod starts beeping and it says the dreaded "Please wait....very low battery" ( I have started reading that thread but haven't got too far in it yet.
So basically my question(s) is this: Is all of this mess related to the (apparently) defective battery that was installed? Could it be a software issue? When I took it in for service I was strongly cautioned that software issues are not covered (and my warranty expires next Tuesday).. I was cautioned about this very emphatically....so much so I wondered if they knew something I did not. What exactly is corrupt? Is it the hard drive or is there a corrupt file or driver somewhere? Was mny batter issue possibly caused my the dismounting problem I was having??
Oh, I do know that it is not an issue with iTunes, my USB ports, my dock, or my wall adapter, or both of my laptops as my husband's 30GB 5G video still works fine and has had absolutely no issues (his never has).
Any insight or advice anyone could give me would be sincerely appreciated.
    THANKS! Jen

I have one isea that might work...
    Here are the steps:
    1)Do a hard reset (menu + select)
2)Before it turns back on quickly press (select + play)
3)This should put the iPod into disk mode
4)plug the ipod into the computer
5)if iTunes doesnt open, open it
6)you should now be able to restore it
    Hope this fixes your problem!
