Not connecting to laptop

For the past three or four weeks my Q10 has not been connecting to my laptop. I have tried different BB cables, tried switching the device off and on while connected, tried switching the laptop off and on while connected, and different USB points. The BB Link appears to connect, but shows the files (Music, Pictures, Videos, Documents) all as empty, with no option to move files to or from the device. It does not show the memory card on BB Link, where I have stored a lot of the files on my phone - and the phone itself works correctly, I have access to all my files and music, etc. When I plug the device in on the laptop, the BlackBerry Device Manager shows that it is supposedly connecting and initializing, but that's as far as it goes. It does not show on Windows Explorer. All it does is charge. As far as I can check, all Windows updates are fine. Prior to all this, it has been working fine, so I have no idea what can be preventing the connection now.
Any ideas, please??
LC.

I got this phone in March this year and it has worked fine being plugged in to the laptop before, so I'd be inclined to agree with the Vodafone peeps that this might be something to do with an upgrade. I've tried battery pulls, made sure the memory card is in place (which it is, because that is where I've stored all my pics and music, and there is no problem accessing them on the phone), switched off and switched on both the laptop and phone in varying orders when they are cabled together..... and the cable works fine, as it is only charging the phone when it is plugged in.
Can anyone else give any suggestions? I have no intention of resetting it to factory defaults, as I obviously can't do a current backup of it!

  • Hi I cannot play music on my Ipod lately. I can play the mucis when connected to the laptop. When not connected to laptop, all mucis icons read "No music" which is incorrect. Any ideas welcomed  Frank

    Hi,
I cannot play mucis on my Ipod lately and cannot solve this problem.
There is music there and I can play it connected to laptop.
Without connection to laptop I can play radio but not music.
All mucis icons read "No music" and this is not correct
    Any help apprecaited
    Frank

This category is for iPod shuffle.  Is that the type of iPod you have, because your description of the problem does not sound like it's about a shuffle?  If it's not a shuffle, what is the iPod model...?
There is music there and I can play it connected to laptop.
Are you doing the playing using the iPod, or are you playing the music using iTunes on the laptop?
All mucis icons read "No music" and this is not correct
Do these icons with "No music" appear on the laptop's screen, or on the iPod's screen

  • Officejet J6450 will NOT connect to laptop wirelessly - PLEASE HELP...

    Good afternoon,
I just spent almost two hours on the phone with a woman from the HP Tech Support team that I could barely understand (not exaggerating - would be wonderful to bring back customer service to the US - god knows we need some more jobs here!!).  She had me do a number of things, none of which solved my problem - needless to say, it was a very frustrating two hours and now I am very frustrated!
My issue is that my laptop will not recognize the wireless Officejet J6450.  I have Comcast broadband cable internet, a Linksys wireless router, an HP desktop, and a Dell laptop (laptop is from employer - I work from home).  I loaded all of the software on my desktop first (connected via USB) and everything worked perfectly.  I used the Network Setup Wizard on the printer and connected to my Linksys wireless router with no issue whatsoever (full signal strength).  I printed a wireless netwok report - no problems were found - all diagnostic tests were a success.  The ethernet adapter wireless network connection IP address on my laptop is 192.168.1.102 and the IP address of the printer is 192.168.1.103.  So then I proceeded to load the software to my laptop for wireless connection - thinking all along how easy getting everything set up has been.  I then loaded the software to the laptop and I got to the part where it asks what type of connection I want to set up.  I chose wireless and it asked me to temporarily plug the laptop to the printer via USB cable.  I did so and it began searching for my wireless network.  I selected my wireless network and it began searching for my printer.  This is were I hit the brick wall - it could not find my printer.  I tried again - chose my network, tried to find the printer - no such luck.
I then did a Google search and checked these boards regarding alternative solutions.  I tried installing through Windows printers (BTW - laptop is running XP SP2).  Selected Local Printer, unchecked the automatically select box, chose standard TCP/IP, etc. - that didn't work either.
I consider myself fairly PC savvy and I am perplexed by this - just doesn't make any sense why the laptop won't detect the wireless printer.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance regarding my connectivity issue as I do NOT want to call HP Tech Support back.
One other thing, the Tech Support lady told me to reset the printer by turning it off and then having me press the pound button and the number 6 before turning it back on.  Not sure why she had me do this, but it reset the ink cartridges and alignment and now the printer no longer reports how much ink is left.  Any way to fix that?
Lastly, out of curiosity, why does HP recommend not leaving the wireless enabled on the printer when not using it?  Doesn't make any sense to have to turn off wireless everytime after printing and then turn it back on when needing to print again.
Sorry for this long post - hopefully this is enough information for you to help me out.
    Thanks in advance!
    Jeremy

    Hi Jeremy,
First, I have no idea why we are recommending turning off the printer's radio when you are not using it.  The only thing I can image is that if you leave the radio on and in its default configuration (SSID = hpsetup, no security, Ad-Hoc), then you are susceptible to neighbors or war-drivers using your printer.
Next, you have an interesting problem.  You've done everything I would have tried (check connectivity by browsing the printer's internal web page, turn off the firewall, try to manually add the printer).
I know you've disabled the firewall.  I might recommend uninstalling the firewall temporarily, then installing the SW again to see if that works.  Also, you might check to see that you don't have another firewall accidentally enabled (maybe the Windows firewall?).
Finally -- is there anything unusual about your wireless-router configuration?  Have you set any port-forwarding or other advanced settings?  BTW -- what model wireless-router are you running?
And of course there's a rather painful step to try that usually works:  reinstall the OS on your laptop and then install the printer SW (I'm somewhat embarrassed to suggest this but it does seem to work).

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 does not connect to laptop via wireless network

I have a new HP Officejet Pro 8610. It is connected wirelessly to my home network. My laptop, running Windows 7, is connected to the same network, but cannot find the printer. I have tried turning everything off and resetting the router, but still have the same issue - my laptop cannot find the printer.
I am able to email a document from my laptop to the printer using the printer's email address.
What can I do to get my laptop to find the printer on the wireless network?

    Hey!
This is an issue with your wireless, you either have to get your router looked at you are looking at relocating your printer and your router so they are closer together. If you are able to connect all of your devices to the network fine when you are in the same room; Call HP Technical Phone Support.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
    I hope this helps.
    I worked for HP.

  • SX510 does not connect to laptop

The camera finds the access point  (my home network) and the device (laptop) just fine--it says connecting, but then never does. I have downloaded Camera Window and even given the program access through the firewall. What else can I do? I have Windows 7 64 bit running on HP Probook. I had no trouble connecting to mySmartphone.

I too have this problem connecting the SX510 HS to my laptop. I'm running a Toshiba with Kis 2013. If I disable the Firewall in Kis2013 the transfer works fine, so there is clearly a problem somewhere in there. The camera establishes contact and opens the 'Autoplay' menu but seems to timeout soon after. As yet I am unable to find the cause and the KIS Database is pretty thin on this subject. I would welcome any suggestions....

  • 2nd Generation Will not turn on when not connected to laptop or docking station?

Looking for advice to fix my 2nd generation nano.  Could it be a battery issue?  Can the battery be replaced?  It is fully charged when removed from the docking station?  Help!!!

If you update the iPod software to the latest version (1.1) you should be able to power off the iPod. If that doesn't work especially since you restored it's most likely a hardware issue with the iPod. If so, contact AppleCare or visit an Apple Retail Store so they can setup a repair for you.

  • My apple bluetooth keyboard is paired with laptop but will not connect.  mouse is working fine.

apple bluetooth keyboard is paired but not connecting to laptop.  mouse works fine.

i am finding it depends greatly on the batteries you put in
I work for a company that produces batteries...ours work, other brands sometimes do not. if they are manufactured just a hair out of spec, they wont connect consistently...
    they must wobble cuasing flucuations
same with the mouse...if you use a bit of blue tack, it holds the batteries in, problems solved
the keyboard is a little different and I cant figure out a macguiver fix

  • Error message "not connected to internet" when trying to sign in to BB id with Mac laptop

I have a Mac laptop and was forced to remove the original BB Link OS when the Z10 launched.  I replaced the OS with the current one but now it doesn't allow me to use my Mac's computer name eg.  John Smith's Mac book. I can only use a single name.  I suspect that is why I'm not getting the itune's library to load.  Also, I can't sign into my BB id, I get a message that says I'm not connected to the internet.  I've taken the firewall off as I heard that was a solution with Windows but it didn't work.  Any ideas?

i have the same problem. I have window 7 pc. I had to use internet to download link so i don't understand why it is not allowing me to use link or do set up. I uninstalled my previous bb desktop driver in hopes that would help. It didn't. I appreciate any help on this forum
