Not Required Field in Form

I’m trying to create a registration form with required and not required fields, but I’m getting a data base error (Column 'city' cannot be null) in those fields that I leave in blank. I noticed that in the Data base palette (DW CS6) all the table’s rows it said “required”. How can I get around this issue?

Set the 'city' field to NULL in the database. That will give the option of either filling in the information or leaving it blank

Unchecking Required Field from Form Field is not working

I am trying to un-check a field to a disable the required field function and it will not let me uncheck the box, its ghosted out. Upon filling out the form as-is > I enter text in the field as it requires and even after entering information it gives me an error and says its not filled out??!!!! I spent a lot of time on this form and do not have the time to recreate it just to risk getting the same result....

Did you rename the email field to Last Name? That's the only entry which will not let you uncheck this option.

Optional & not required Fields in webservice

Hi All,
I have published my webservice as orchestration,
Everything is good till now,
But user wants a couple of fields as optional & not required (the process should not break if the fields are not present in request xml),
so,i made that element name to nillable to true & minoccurs to 0, as shown
But in wsdl it creates minoccurs=1, not sure why it sets minoccurs=1, when the published schema has minoccurs=0 !!

Please let me know what can i do for making the fields optional & not required.

Yes, this is an issue with BizTalk Web publishing wizard. But if you actual see it in practical terms, it’s not much of an issue. May be in some cases this could really cause
an issue when client just use WSDL.
The MSND URL which Rachit has shared may out of date. Because as mentioned in the MSDN blog ““If
you publish a schema that contains minOccurs or maxOccurs attributes
with specific values, these values may be different in schema exposed by the published Web service” – No. It’s not the exposed schema which will have different values
for minOccurs or maxOccurs attributes,
its only for the WSDL file which will have different values. If you
actually see the schema from the virtual directory, this will correct minOccurs or maxOccurs attributes. This is why when anyone who access/consume the web service by WSDL, will
also need to use schema while consuming. WSDL shall be used to access the operation name and data type (Schema) references whereas the actual definition for the data elements are accessed from schema.

Not require field business area in t.code KS01

Dear experts!
Now, I'm getting some issue about using t.code KS01.
When I use t.code KS01 (Create cost center) some fields require to enter as business area field. But I want to the fields do not require.
How do I have to do? Help me, please.

Not only in cost center master, but you would also face this in other masters like Internal Order, Asset Masters etc
Go to OBY6 and check if "Bus Area wise Financial Statements" indicator is on... If you really need, keep it on.. Else, switch it off

How to make the manufacture date as not required field

When upload initial stock, the manufacture date is made as a required field to enter but actually there are no related information for some materials. Is there any configuration to disable this function and make manufacture date field as an optional field?

Use t.code: OMJX and make date of manufacture {field nameGOITEM-HSDAT} field as hide or display as you required and save.

Bug in forms- Won't submit because required field is empty but it is not...

I have the same bug in both our corporate and French website.
When someone fill in the form, it says that one of the required field is empty, even when it is not:
I put the form in a test page at www2.smasolutions.it/test.html
Please, help me as quickly as you can as the websites are live. We put the simple form for now as it is the only one that is working but we need to grab more info !

Esther,
The field with the label 'Société*' is actually the email field, so it requires a valid email address.
I suspect you changed the label name in Muse from 'Email' to 'Société*'. Change the name of the label back to 'Email' so it's clear to the user what they need to enter in the field...

Required Text Fields in Forms not Working

I have created a couple of forms that have fields that must be entered. I have set them to be User Entered, Required Fields and also put in a message that should come up when the field is left blank. This doesn't seem to be working. I can still tab through the fields and leave them blank. Also, out of 7 required fields, only one displays the message I entered when I leave the field blank. Everything looks the same so I can't figure out why it lets me leave required fields blank or why it does not pull up the messages I entered.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try deleing the Safari Cache.db
Open a Finder window. From the menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, go to Safari > Preferences > Advanced
Select: Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from the Safari menu bar click Developer > Empty Caches (or Command + Option + E)
Emptying the cache after every Safari session may help and faster to do from the menu bar then trashing the Cache database file on a consistent basis.

Pop up Window before saving remembering the need (forcing) to fill required fields in a form

I searched the "old" forum and have very good help from UVSAR but unfortunately I'm not able to access my message sent to that forum anymore.

I've have never use Java scripts in my life: I started about three days ago.
1) I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro X (Windows 7)
2) I've created a form using Microsoft Word and save it as a pdf file.
3) After I created a form using Acrobat Pro X;
3.1.) This form it's not going to be submitted over Internet. It will be send by e-mail to some persons. They will receive it, fill in the form and send it back to me via e-mail. Note: I will save it with extended rights in order to allow to be read with acrobat reader (I'm the only one of the group having Professional edition).
4) In that form I've created some text fields (for now it's just what I need - no radio buttons, dropdown
menus, and so...)
5) Choosed Properties and marked 7 fields as "required";
6) Used a script I found in here: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/784322 (thank you for the authors of the thread)

7) This script allows me to remember people to fill that 7 specific fields (when using mouse or tab).
8) So... What I really need? Here are the reasons for my request for help:
8.1.) When people use the Acrobat Reader Save button (not a button I created inside the form) it will pop up an alert message. Users will receive a pop up window telling them they need to fill those fields before saving the form and send it back to me. Can someone share a script, please? Thanks in advance.
8.2.) Is there a way to colorize the fileds that need to be filled? Again I only learned where to insert a java script yestaerday sou I'm not able to write one. I'm sorry for my newbie questions.
8.3.) Last question: In one of the fields there will be an e-mail address. On the end of the form I want to create a button like "Send by e-mail" and When someone press that button the e-mail will be sent to the address that was written in the earlier specific field. How can I do this (link a button to an e-mail address in a specific field)? Can someone help me with a script or ideas? Hope I was clear.
8.1.) UVSAR sent me the following code that works fine untill I save the document for the first time. Affter that he never shows me pop up window again.

Hi ACI wonder if you can share any responses on to your question above?I too have never used a script but, I have the same problems as you in regards to building a form. Change the Required Field " Fieldname value cannot not be null" error.

Does anyone know how to change the error message on a Table based form for a required field? By default it gives:
<Fieldname> value cannot be null
Do I need a field type validation?

R12 OM Copy does not navigate to required field when OK button is clicked

We are upgrading from 11.5.10 to 12.1.3.
When a user is copying a Sales Order to a Return in 11i and the user leaves the return reason blank, the form will navigate to the return reason and raise ORA-40202 Field must be Entered.
In R12, the navigation to the required field does not happen. The ORA-420202 is still raised, but the user must click through the tabs to find the return reason.
I have examined OEORDCPY.pll and found the procedure OE_ORDER_COPY_WINDOW.action_ok, which is called when the user clicks on the OK button.
The code below is from R12. Only the section for bug 4879216 is new since 11i. It is clear that the intent is for the form to navigate to the line type or return reason when they are missing (null, required, and enabled).
I have attempted to use forms personalization to navigate to the return reason, when it is missing. However, I could not get the desired result using when-new-item-instance or when-button-pressed as the trigger. Anyone have any suggesstions to correct this change in behaviour?

Radio buttons created as required fields don't change to yellow when not submitted.

I am creating an online form with required fields. Some of these fields are radio buttons. This issue is when the form is submitted without the required radio buttons selected the user is given an alert that they need to complete the required fields and those required fields become "highlighted" in yellow. In Mozilla (v16), the radio buttons do not change yellow. This features works in IE. The form works best with radio buttons versus drop-down or text box. Most of our employees use Mozilla, so would like to find a solution. Thanks.

PHP Form - Required Fields

I've got my form working great thanks to Joe and David (and
others) in
this group.
I want to take it a step further by requiring three fields to
be filled
out. So I found this code to use in my thankyou2.php page:

message could appear right on the contact page itself?

Form Features: Checking for required fields on scrolling or moving to the next page.

Hi! I am developing a form which will be distributed to people using Adobe Reader without the JavaScript functionality. I have a form with about 20+ pages and each page has 4 required fields. I would like to make it easy for the users to show the errors then and there when they miss a require field, instead of having a generic "required field not filled" message at the end of the document. How do I do this without JavaScript? It would be better if the document jumps to the page where there is an empty "required" field.

This isn't possible without using JavaScript.

Unable to save a form with missing required fields

I have a form, with required fields, as part of the new hire process. I would like to make sure the user fills in the required fields before closing/saving the form.
I have a custom script that highlights the missing required fields when the complete/validate button is clicked.
This, however, doesn't stop the user from saving the form. As a result, we are getting incomplete forms returned.
Is there a way to stop the user from saving the form until the required fields are filled ?

I have a "validate" button that sets a flag (for workflow). This button will perform the check and highlight the missing fields.
Once the user completes the form, he/she saves and emails the form. The reason for not having the email button is because not all users will have outlook and wouldn't want to go through the wizard.
I understand your point but I need to know if there is some solid way of not allowing the users to return the form without completing the form.
If I include an email button, the users can still save, by using the toolbar menu, and email the incomplete document.
As we are planning to implement Digital Signatures, would it be possible to have the check in the presign event. Will this prevent the document fron being signed until the required fields are filled ?

Forms with Required Fields

I have created a form that needs some required fields (using GoLive CS1). I have found NateMail which looks wonderful, but it requires the server to use PHP. On this forum, I found Nate's great instructions to test the server for PHP capability, and they failed the test. Do I have other options? Any suggestions? I'm fairly new to forms, so the easier the better. Thanks so much!

Thanks, Nate --- I will check with them to see if they have alternatives, although I think I'm going to suggest my client switch hosts. I'm not that familiar with all the technical jargon, but they have indicated before that they use Cold Fusion when we've talked about other form issues. (I don't know if that offers any leads on alternatives.) We do have 3 basic, functioning forms operating via their server, but we want to have some required fields where the viewer can't proceed without providing some info. Anyway --- thanks so much for your help --- it's much appreciated!
