Notinited error

I'm having a Java problem. First some basic info:
* Windows XP Pro, Service pack 1
* Java VM 1.4.2_03
* IE 6.028
* Opera 7.23
* Mozilla 1.6
The applet at http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp (and many others) fail to load with the error "Java applet Notinited" or "Loading Java Applet Failed".
I've tried with IE and Mozilla set as my default browser and not as default. Made no difference. Only Opera works. :( I should alos mention that I have a "direct" connection to the internet, no proxies needed and the Java console is set to use Browser Settings.
I think that covres all the essential information.
Help!
Oh, one more thing. Here's the outpt of the VM log when I run the test above:

I know that Opera 7.23 can include the 1.4.1 JRE from Sun. Just curious, did you install Opera before or after you installed the 1.4.2 JRE? Also if you look into the "About" tab of the Java Plugin in your control panel, what version do you see there?
MB> Well, here's what the Opera helps says. I'm not sure if Opera includes the runtime in the distro or not. IN any case, it seems Opera avoids the plugin which seems to be where the issue lies.
Support for Java in Opera
Platform: Windows 95/98/Me/NT 4.0/2000/XP
Opera 4 beta 4 and later for Windows have embedded Java support. This means we use the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) directly instead of using the plug-in to run Java applets. It is not possible to use the Java plug-in with Opera 4 beta 4 and later.
Opera for other platforms may support Java through the use of a Java plug-in. Please consult the documentation for each platform for information about Opera's Java capabilities.
The runtime environments supported is the "Java Runtime Environment" from Sun version 1.2 and above. This means that those of you who have been running e.g. the 1.1.3 version of the JRE/plug-in will have to install a new version of JRE to run applets.
Since version 1.2, the Java Runtime Environment and the Java Plug-in is the same download and installation.
JRE can be downloaded from:

  • Applet Java_Report_Panel Notinited Error in Business Objects XIR2 Webi

    Hi,
    I am facing a error Applet Java_Report_Panel Notinited when I want to create or edit a Web Intelligence report.
    The Current version of BO is XIR2.
    The version of Java installed on my machine is 1.6.0.
    Whenever, I try to create or modify a new report through Infoview, I get a blank Page and at the bottom of the Infoview, it displays
    Java Report Panel Notinited.
    This was working fine till yesterday. There were no changes or updates done on the machine.
    Just for reference, the reports work fine, when I use the other panels such as the Query-HTML and HTML Report Panel.
    I had enabled all the required options in the Internet Explorer. but still, I face the Issue.
    Let me know what has to be done in resolving the same.

    bouser39:
    This was working fine till yesterday. There were no changes or updates done on the machine
    Are you absolutely sure about no changes applied?  I.e. you solely are the administrator, and you have sole access to this server in regards to administration, loading patches, or other configurations?  The "no init" I ran into a couple of years back and the cause was our web admin wanted to make a shorter URL appear in the address bar (something like ACME.com/BO) versus ACME.com/businessobjects/enterprise115/infoview, so he built a "virtual" web folder and had it say "BO".  Well, everything worked fine in Infoview, logging in, running reports, etc, etc, however, after loading a particular service pack, and then when we went to build a new web intelligence document the whole house of cards came toppling down.  Long story short, we had to forego the "BO" short name and revert back to the long URL, as ugly as it appeared, the previous method of "BO" was not longer applicable with the new "java bridge" that Business Objects had implemented with their new service pack.  So, perhaps someone tried to make things more efficient for you, but in the long run actually broke a few things along the way....
    Thanks,
    John

  • CFslider notinited error

    CFslider works fine on a server with - Windows 2000, IIS 5,
    CFMX 7
    CFslider doesn't load on a server with - Windows 2003, IIS 6,
    CFMX 7
    Has anybody any Ideas????
    I've also had problems on the Windows 2003 with CF generated
    alert boxes.
    I'm pretty sure it's because security is tighter on Windows
    2003 than Windows 2000. Is there any way to tweak Windows
    2003?

    I was able to successfully test the cfslider tag on my
    machine with Windows 2003, II6, and CFMX 7.0.2.
    Since cfslider is a Java applet, I wonder if you might be
    having an issue because a JVM is not installed, configured, etc. My
    Windows box noted above has the Java Runtime Environment 5 Update
    11 (version 1.5.0.110) and the Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE
    v1.4.2._11. My CFMX Java Virtual Machine Path points to the Java 2
    Runtime Environment.
    In the Advanced tab of my Java Control Panel
    (Start->Control Panel->Java), I have <APPLET> tag
    support enabled for Internet Explorer. This one might not be a
    related issue but wanted to note it just in case.
    On a final note, when I went to run the simple test (just a
    cfslider in a cfform tag), I was prompted/warned that the digital
    certificate has an error and I had to accept the certificate via
    the prompt.
    Hope this gets you in the right direction.

    Some People claim that Norton programs might interfere, I disabled them even went as far to uninstall them which takes a long time.. to uninstall and install them back.
    I even went as far as a clean systems install of windows XP sp2 Home Edition and th en tried to update to Sun Java and still got the red X basically saying something wrong with install. But nothing every says its wrong when you run the offline installation. Just when you go back to the website to veriffy jjava is installed.
    To be able to use my subsciption I pay for on Pogo.com to play games that require applets I had to enable the MSJava in Internet Explorer and disable the box of the Sun Java applet version whatever you have installed to have Runtime Environment.
    If you don't have the MS Java on your Internet Explorer Advanced Options you can get it at this address:
    http://www.microsoft.com/mscorp/java/
    Go figure. I thought Sun Java would be more better which I had working before have no clue why it stopped working and those errors come up when trying to play games that require the use of the java applet.
    Was hoping other java users who have figured out why it stopped can tell me what to look for to alter so I can change back to sun Java.
    The Sun Java works great with other applications just not the applets.

    The same problem happened to me. When upgrading from JRE 1.5.0_5 to JRE 1.5.0_6, suddenly no applets would load, and all I could see was the little red X.
    I tried to change proxysettings (I dont use a proxy, but it is told at http://www.java.com/en/download/help/redximage.xml that it is due to wrong proxy-settings). It didn't help.
    I tried to turn off zonealarm. It didn't help.
    I tried to clear the browsers cache. It didn't help.
    I have been using both Firefox 1.5, and IE6. None would load the java-applets.
    So I uninstalled all older JRE versions and installed JRE 1.4.1_02. It worked!
    I then tried to upgrade to JRE 1.5.0. It didn't work.
    Now I am back at JRE 1.4.1_02 without knowing why I had to downgrade through 6 versions that through the last year or so has been working fine on my machine.
    I have no idea why it suddenly wouldnt work with the newer versions.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

    Thanks for your reply.
    The reason is my forgetting to move XX.class to the running directory.
    One more question here.
    Before moving mouse in the applet area, the third and forth codes using double buffer in the following page initate with blank background. Please tell me why and how to handle it.

    - applet runs fine in appletviewer
    - type in <ipadr>/Hello.html on win PC
    - the html loads, waits for between a few seconds to tens of seconds
    - get applet notinited error
    - on the win 98 machine the Java applet loading logo shows up briefly
    - end up with the dreaded box with 'X'
    - I did get it to work the other day after adding 'classpath="."' to the <applet> code, but that doesn't seem to help now. class and html are in the same directory.
    - I have tried class="helloapp" and class="helloapp.class" in the <applet> code
    Debug info:
    - Java console says helloapp.class not found, and sometimes an EOF error
    - packet sniffer shows (leaving out, ACKs, SYNs) (pc -> linux) :
    -> request fro html
    <- html code delivered
    -> request for helloapp.class
    <- deliver helloapp.class (SEE NOTE BELOW)
    -> rerequest helloapp.class
    <- redeliver (SEE NOTE)
    -> finally sends RST flag
    NOTE: these packet looks right except I don't see any data. It's 372 bytes long but it says it has a content of 532 bytes of data:

    Questions:
    - Am I right in not seeing data (the applet code) in the packet above - it should be there right?
    - Could something in the Apache configuration prevent it from sending the applet data? I did set the permissions in the configuration file.
    - Any other way to debug this?
    - The fact it worked the other day and not now is perplexing. The linux I am running is a live version, so I have to reconfigure each time I start it. I have to think the problem is there as that is the only thing that has changed since the other day....

    Here's a partial answer. I found that if the data load in the packet was over 256 bytes, it would fail. I a able to create an empty applet of 192 bytes that would load. I figured out the 256 byte number using wget and some text files. So I guess it's not an applet problem, but maybe an Apache problem.

  • Applet fails in browser

    Hi there,
    I was wondering if there was anyone out there who could tell me why the simple applet I wrote will not run in my web browser (IE6), but works fine in my IDE (eclipse).
    The source code I'm using looks like this:
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.applet.*;
    public class colours extends Applet implements ActionListener{
    Button red = new Button("RED");
    public void init(){
    setBackground(Color.white);
    setLayout(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.CENTER));
    red.addActionListener(this);
    add(red);
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){
    if(e.getSource()== red){
    setBackground(Color.red);
    Appoligises if this is not formatted to convention.
    when I use dreamweaver to attempt to load this class file onto a web page using the OBJECT tag I get the Applet notinited error message (this occurs for all the applets I have written that are any more complicated than hello world!)
    I am using the following html:
    <body>
    <object classid="clsid:8AD9C840-044E-11D1-B3E9-00805F499D93" codebase="" codetype="application/java" width="300" height="200">
    <param name="code" value="colorApplet">
    <param name="type" value="application/x-java-applet;version=1.3">
    <param name="scriptable" value="false">
    <embed width="300" height="200" code="colorApplet" type="application/x-java-applet;version=1.3" scriptable="false" pluginspage="http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.3/plugin-install.html"></embed>
    </object>
    any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Simple image on canvas help

    Hi, im 'developing' a small piece of software that allows the user to draw a single line on an image (basic shell of the program) but i have seemed to run into a spot of bother. Can anyoone please look at this piece of applet software and tell me where i am going wrong... I get an Applet notinited error message when i try to run it, anyones help will be much appreciated.
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.image.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.applet.Applet;
    public class LineDraw extends Applet
    SimpleDrawCanvas canvas;
    public void init() {
    canvas = new SimpleDrawCanvas();
    Panel bottom = new Panel();
    Button b1 = new Button("Clear");
    b1.addActionListener(canvas);
    bottom.add(b1);
    setBackground(Color.blue);
    setLayout(new BorderLayout(3,3));
    add("Center",canvas);
    add("South",bottom);
    public Insets getInsets()
    return new Insets(25,25,25,25);
    class Line
    int x1, y1;
    int x2, y2; }
    class SimpleDrawCanvas extends Canvas implements ActionListener, MouseListener
    Image img = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getImage ( "ireland.gif" );
    Color currentColor = Color.red;
    SimpleDrawCanvas() {
    setBackground(Color.green);
    currentColor = Color.red;
    addMouseListener(this);
    void doClear()
    repaint();
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
    String command = evt.getActionCommand();
    if (command.equals("Clear"))
         doClear();
    int startX, startY;
    public void mousePressed(MouseEvent evt) {
    startX = evt.getX();
    startY = evt.getY();
    public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent evt) {
    int endX = evt.getX();
    int endY = evt.getY();
    Graphics g = getGraphics();
    g.drawImage(img, 0, 0, 400, 400, this);
    g.setColor(currentColor);
    g.drawLine(startX, startY, endX, endY);
    g.dispose();
    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent evt) { }
    public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent evt) { }
    public void mouseExited(MouseEvent evt) { }
    }

    Ok, after all this i have realised that i only need to set the picture as the background image, it will not be interacted with so i can put it in the HTML file like so...
    <html>
    <body>
    <applet code="LineDraw.class" width=400 height=594>
    <param name="image" value="ireland.gif">
    </applet>
    </body>
    </html>
    the rest of the code has slightly changed, it now looks like this...
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import java.awt.image.*;
    import java.net.*;
    import java.applet.*;
    import java.util.*;
    public class LineDraw extends Applet
    SimpleDrawCanvas canvas;
    public void init()
    canvas = new SimpleDrawCanvas();
    Panel bottom = new Panel();
    Button b1 = new Button("Clear");
    b1.addActionListener(canvas);
    bottom.add(b1);
    setBackground(Color.blue);
    setLayout(new BorderLayout(3,3));
    add("Center",canvas);
    add("South",bottom);
    public Insets getInsets()
    return new Insets(25,25,25,25);
    class Line
    int x1, y1;
    int x2, y2; }
    class SimpleDrawCanvas extends Canvas implements ActionListener, MouseListener
    Color currentColor = Color.red;
    SimpleDrawCanvas()
    setBackground(Color.green);
    currentColor = Color.red;
    addMouseListener(this);
    void doClear()
    repaint();
    public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent evt) {
    String command = evt.getActionCommand();
    if (command.equals("Clear"))
         doClear();
    int startX, startY;
    public void mousePressed(MouseEvent evt) {
    startX = evt.getX();
    startY = evt.getY();
    public void mouseReleased(MouseEvent evt) {
    int endX = evt.getX();
    int endY = evt.getY();
    Graphics g = getGraphics();
    g.setColor(currentColor);
    g.drawLine(startX, startY, endX, endY);
    g.dispose();
    public void mouseClicked(MouseEvent evt) { }
    public void mouseEntered(MouseEvent evt) { }
    public void mouseExited(MouseEvent evt) { }
    Now, this ALL works perfectly but the problem is i can only see the picture for a split second and then it disappears, i click the refresh button and i can see it again but then it goes again... I have tried commenting out the setBackground methods to no avail, i am so close has anyone got any ideas? and sorry for wasting u guys time with the other problem, my head isnt screwed on properly this week.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Notinted - do not know why?

    I am trying to run an applet on my website but I cannot get it to work it gives me a "notinited" error. I had the same problem with the first applet that I tried to run but it is working now and I did do anything different.
    Anyway, I do not know what to do to get the applet working in the website. I have downloaded the .java file with it's classes into the file manager where I am trying to view the HTML document. I do not know where to start to fix the problem. I do not know why it doesn't work. I have complied the .java program without errors and it works when I run it on my CPU without the applet conversion.
    Please if someone can help me.
    Derek

    before we get into that again..
    paul gave you a good piece of advice earlier about the java console. Did you try that first?
    sometimes the java console shows you the exceptions being thrown.
    Do you know how to access the java console?
    In IE, it is under View-->Java Console
    If it is not there, then you have to mess around with your user preferences.
    or, if you've already tried it, then tell us what the java console says. Even if it says nothing, that in itself is interesting information which can help us help you figure out what is going wrong.
    Also, please do check out the docs. There is so much in the java tutorial that I wish I had known about when I was starting...

  • Java error, applet notinited

    Hello,
    I manage a few macs, and we use to scan using a printer/scanner on the network with a browser. From some computers (NOT ALL) the users receive an error "applet com.efi.appls.webtools.WebToolsApplet notinited". Is the same with Safari or Firefox. Anyone has any idea? (obviously all the macs are exactly the same, with mac os X 10.4.8, all upgrades done, Safari and Firefox last version).
    Thank you

    ok, the preferences are as shown in your picture on both computers. I have also deleted the files "in special folder" and the only thing changed is that the error received now is applet notloaded instead of notinited.
    Obviously the users can use another mac, so is not a big problem, but I can't really understand why 2 macs on 11 behave like this...
    Thank you for your help. If I will find a solution, I will post it.

  • Java applet 'notinited'

    I am receiving an error when my applet is loading
    Java applet notinited
    Using comments i have traced the error to:
    Graphics tempGraph;
    Image[] grid = new grid[someNumber];
    for(int d = 0; d<someNumber; d++)
           grid[d] = createImage(200,100);
           //the following line is where the problem is...
           tempGraph = grid[d].getGraphics();
    }Any ideas?

    This is just a guess, because I can't see all your code...
    But did you override the method init() in your applet?

  • CPM-BSC - Java Application Error in BI 7.0. - CauseEffectApplet Not found

    We have recently migrated from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0.
    We are making tests in our test system and we found an error executing a BSC via web.
    Trying to execute the balanced scorecard via web, with the UMB_LAUNCHPAD_WEB transaction, when you select an scorecard to view the cause effect chain, the java application doesn´t load and you get the next error in the internet explorer:
    - CauseEffectApplet notinited.
    If you check the Java console the next error appears:
    - class com.sap.sem.cpm.causeeffect.CauseEffectApplet.class not found.
    Anybody knows how to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance!

Now this Report works perfectly fine when I try to execute it at the backend. But When we try to execute it through transactional iViews i.e when I press the save button of the report to download it in pdf format, I am getting an error message "Applet filesavedialog.class notinited."
    Ideally it should pop-up a window asking for the path of the file to save. Please help me how can i resolve this error ?

    There is not short dump created at the backend. As I said earlier also Report is working perfectly fine at the backend.
    Error message is coming at the bottom of the explorer as " Applet filesavdialog.class notinited" and the pop-up doesn't come. Everything else works perfrctly fine. Users can still see the report.
