NPE while calling a simple SLSB

Greetings,
I a SLSB i have the following code:
public String sayHello (String who)
return "Hello " + who;
public void insertArticle (String title, Magazine magazine)
/* Do nothing */
I'm calling from a remote client the sayHello methos and it works. Now, if I modify the code this way:
public String sayHello (String who)
return "Hello " + who;
public void insertArticle (String title, ArrayList<Author> authors, Magazine magazine)
/* Do nothing */
and I call from the same remote client the same sayHello methos, I got:
Exception in thread "Main Thread" java.lang.NullPointerException
     at weblogic.ejb.container.internal.RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.getTargetMethod(RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.java:162)
     at weblogic.ejb.container.internal.RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.invoke(RemoteBusinessIntfProxy.java:53)
     at $Proxy0.sayHello(Unknown Source)
     at fr.simplex_software.jpa.test.LoadDB.main(LoadDB.java:43)
Please notice that I'm never calling the insertArticle methos which modifications obviously raises the exception.
Many thanks in advance for any help,
Nicolas

All right, after having spent two days on this issue, I finally found out that in order to be able to use generics in EJB with WebLogic, one needs to have appc generated stubs on the client side. Doing that is not trivial in Eclipse (OEPE) but adding an ant script like the following
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no"?>
<project basedir="." default="build-project" name="ww204-ejb">
<property name="jpa.project" value="../ww204-jpa"/>
<target name="build-project">
<echo message="${ant.project.name}: ${ant.file}" />
<taskdef name="wlappc" classname="weblogic.ant.taskdefs.j2ee.Appc"/>
<wlappc source="build/classes" forceGeneration="true" verbose="true" deprecation="true">
<classpath>
<pathelement location="${jpa.project}/build/classes"/>
</classpath>
</wlappc>
</target>
</project>
which generates the appc stubs in the EJB Project's binary output directory and using this directory in the remote client CLASSPATH solves the problem. This is probably not regular as there is no any other application server having such a requirement but, if you want to use EJB with WebLogic and if, as myself, you think it would be too stupide not to use generics, you need to do that. You may continue using the WTP build facilities of Eclipse (OEPE) but you need to add to your EJB Project an ant builder which runs the script above. That's a pain, I know, but it seems to be the only way to decently do EJB/JPA with WebLogic. That's crazy that I needed to spend two days to come to something which is probably already known since longtime. So, I hope that, as oposed to myself, other people will be luckyer and beneficiate of this post.
Kind regards,
Nicolas

  • Passing username and password while calling the simple HTTP API

    Hi,
    I want to execute a graph by calling the http api from a java code. However, this gives me a 401 unauthorized http error as I am not passing the username and password to the clover http url.
    The following is the format of the constructed url. - http://<host>:<port>/clover/simpleHttpApi/graph_run?sandbox=<sandboxname>&graphID=graph/Baseline.grf&verbose=FULL
    Can anyone suggest how to pass user credentials to this url.
    Thanks

    Brett,
    Thanks for the response.
    The idea is to run the baseline graph using the simple http api and get the run id of the job. Then I plan to call
    this url - http://<host>:<port>/clover/simpleHttpApi/graph_status?runID=1310924&returnType=STATUS_TEXT&waitForStatus=FINISHED_OK by passing the obtained run ID of the previous job dynamically to this url. This status has to be read and printed on the screen. Now all this is easy to write using java and executing the java class using the JAVA EXECUTE component of Integrator ETL 3.1. My only problem is how do I pass the user credentials.
    Thanks

    An internal error occurred while calling 'submitReport' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270)
    We get above mentioned error message at any point in WebI Rich Client.
    DataSource: Teradata 12.0 (Local machine)
    BO XI 3.1 Client installed on local machine
    Universe (Secured connection)
    WebI : desiging and creating in Standlone mode
    WebI client version : 12.1.0.882
    Many times above written error is thrown 2-3 times even when we click on OK button and lastly followed by new error message:-
    Unable to get the first page of the current report - Web Intelligence will switch to structure view (WIJ 20003).
    Flow: We create report based on locally saved universe. There are couple of scenarios for which error comes
    1) After successfully saving the report, reopen and refresh causes this error (1st error and 2nd)
    2) Droping a properly written variable on measure column, if done Ctrl + Z, report works sometimes (both or 2nd error message)
    3) Draging out the mesaure or dimension from report (only 2nd error)
    Report is simple and no other stuff except the cross tab table
    Even if we start with simply dropping the dimension and measures on report, 2nd error comes at any time.
    What we noticed is that if we do all desiging in structure mode and then run instead of in result mode, reports works for more time.

  • An internal error occured while calling 'processDPCommandsEx' API. (Error: ERR_WIS_30270)

    Hi ALL,
    I am facing a wierd issue while opening/refreshing/broadcasting a webi report.
    The error message scrnshot:
    This error is not throughout the reports, but for specific reports only, when checked the Bex query definition it works fine, but gives error for Webi reports.
    Recently we had upgrade of BO 4.0 SP7 patch 9.
    The reports are directly built on Bex queries, Bex queries contains simple Structures and few CKF's.
    Would be thankful for any help recieved in resolving the above issue.
    Regards,
    Jaywant Kulkarni.

    Hi jaywant,
    Please check the note: 1760827 it may be helpful
    ( An internal error occurred while calling the 'processDPCommands' API. (ERR_WIS_30270) due to some scenarios.
    Scenario 1:
    Error occurs when try to refresh a migrated Web Intelligence report in InfoView, after entering a date or dates for prompts.
    Suggested Solution:
    Modify problematic report in Webi.
    Change the prompt definition to be a constant, run the report in Webi, and save it.
    Change the prompt definition back to prompt with required date definition. Make sure you are using the correct date format! (The report prompt should tell you what the format is supposed to be.) Re-run the report in Webi, and save it.
    Re-open the report in InfoView and refresh.
    Scenario 2:  Error occurs when trying to edit the properties of a Webi report containing merged dimensions.
    Suggested Solution:
    Remove the merged dimensions and then re-establish them.
    Scenario 3:  Error occurs when the InfoView report has been open and idle for a long time.
    Suggested Solution:
    This error can be an indication of a time-out, based on the server’s settings.  Make sure you save your work often.  You will need to close and re-open the report when you get this error, and you may have lost any unsaved changes.

    Well, there's certainly something about that line that it doesn't like.
    I'm not really familiar enough with MySQL to remote-debug this one for you, but it seems to be dying while trying to reconcile that call to its metadata for the sproc. Check the sproc declaration -does it return a single out value? Or does it have a single out value in the parameter list (not the same thing, I think) ? And so on.
    Also, with the amended call that I provided is the failing stack trace identical, or slightly different? If different, could you post that too please?
    Finally, do you have a known good sproc call that you can sanity check against? Perhaps take one of the examples from the MySQL site and check that that will work with their reference code?

  • AbstractMethodError while calling PreparedStatement.setBinaryStream()

    I am getting AbstractMethodError while calling PreparedStatement.setBinaryStream(int, InputStream) for a BLOB column
    I am using Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit
    JDBC Driver ojdbc6.jar (downloaded from oracle website corresponding to 11.2.0.2 version)
    JDK 6
    I understand this error is due to my code calling abstract method which is not available in JDBC 3.x and it requires JDBC 4.0
    But I am not able to find any traces of usage of earlier version of driver.
    Debugging steps performed with results are as below
    1) I enabled -verbose:class VM argument that outputs all the classes loaded along with jar from which it loads. Everywhere i see ojdbc6.jar (No reference to older or any other jdbc driver jar file)
    2) Below is code segment and its output
    Connection con = getConnection(); // get connection
    DatabaseMetaData d= con.getMetaData();
    d.getDatabaseProductName(); // output: Oracle
    d.getDatabaseProductVersion(); // output: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
    d.getDatabaseMajorVersion(); // output: 11
    d.getDatabaseMinorVersion(); // output: 2
    d.getDriverName(); // output: Oracle JDBC driver
    d.getDriverVersion(); // output: 11.2.0.2.0
    d.getDriverMajorVersion(); // output: 11
    d.getDriverMinorVersion(); // output: 2
    d.supportsGetGeneratedKeys(); // output: true
    3) I updated code (its third party component, so not suppose to update :( )
    Added third argument whick works fine (it means at runtime it is using older jdbc driver???)
    PreparedStatement.setBinaryStream(int, InputStream, (int)length
    Please let me know if i am missing anything here... how can i solve this issue?
    Thanks!

    From my initial post
    I am getting AbstractMethodError while calling PreparedStatement.setBinaryStream(int, InputStream) for a BLOB column
    3) I updated code (its third party component, so not suppose to update )
    Added third argument whick works fine (it means at runtime it is using older jdbc driver???)(3) will not work if correct ojdbc6.jar is used. Because third argument is int and not long. long will work with ojdbc6 but will not work with older version.
    I am using third party component and they are using - PreparedStatement.setBinaryStream(int, InputStream)
    It should work with JDK 6, Oracle 11g and ojdbc6.jar driver.
    I am sure its simple classpath issue or some configuration mismatch - just couldn't see it right now.
    I will probably create new workspace / or test on other system now
    Thanks!

  • An internal error occured while calling 'getBlob' API. (error: ERR_WIS_3027

    Hi Team,
    Please help me in resolving the below error message.
    One of my user is experiencing this when trying to run a report.
    "An internal error occured while calling u2018getBlobu2019 API. (error: ERR_WIS_30270)". I have checked the previous discussion on the same, But I could not get it. Could some one help me as what I can do to resolve this.
    Thanks in Advance
    Mmvihar

    Hi George Pertea,
    Appreciate your prompt response.
    I found a simple solution for this.
    This error message occurs when the TOMCAT server memory exceeds more than 1.3 gb. Hence, restart the TOMCAT server would resolve this issue.
    Here are the steps in detail.
    1. Log into each server through either citrix, remote desktop or mstsc from run command.
    2. Click on task Manager.
    3. Click on process, if you find TOMCAT memory is more than 1.3 gb, come back to CCM and stop tomcat server.
    4. Wait for 20 seconds and then start tomcat server. Check all the remaining servers and do the same
    This resolved the issue.
    Thanks & Regards
    Mmvihar

  • Error while creating a simple function, procedure or triger in Oracle8i Lite

    Hi,
    I have Oracle8i Lite release 4.0.
    While creating a simple proceudre/function/trigger on the database, it's throwing the following error:
    create or replace function test return number is
    ERROR at line 1:
    OCA-30021: error preparing/executing SQL statement
    [POL-5228] syntax error
    Here is my sample code.
    create or replace function test return number is
    begin
    return 0;
    end;
    Tried to create the same function in the user SYSTEM too but got the same error message.
    Thanks in advance for the soluton.
    null

    I just started with 8i Lite, but as far as I know 8i Lite does not support PL/SQL code.
    So you have to write your triggers and stored procedures in Java.
    Ciao

  • QName error while calling a web service from Sourcing

    I need to call a web service from Sourcing script. The web service team has provided us the WSDL and I have generated the required stubs using wsimport and packaged the required java classes in a custom JAR. Now while calling a web method using this jar from my script, I am getting and exception. The exception message that I printed out was this:
    Caught exception e with msg Connection IO Exception. Check nested exception for details. (Connection
    IO Exception. Check nested exception for details. (Connection Exception; nested exception is:
    java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: cannot create QName from "null" or "" String).)
    The same jar and same code works fine when called from a standalone java program.
    I am not using or creating QName anywhere in my script. The only place where QName is used is in the generated java class and there it is created from the correct namespace URL
    Can anyone please help me out in figuring out what is the issue?

    This is the stack trace of the error:
