NULL oracle_process_id in FND_CONCURRENT_REQUEST table

I am having a strange issue in Production environment. and it has happened twice in the last 1 months.
Issue --
few custom jobs run long but when I try to see the corresponding SQL, it has 0 hash value in the FND_concurrent_request table. All the subsequent requests of the same job also show are running (phase code and satus code = R) but with NULL oracle_process_id.
Due to NULL oracle_process_id, I am not able to see the associated database process and what the request is doing. This happens with all subsequent requests of the same job and as a result concurrent queue is full thereby causing other jobs in the same queue to wait
And this request with NULL Oracle process ID does not finish or complete unless CANCELLED from front or back end. But even after CANCELLING all such requests, subsequent pending ones also go in the same status.
I checked the concurrent manager log for this job and I dont see any error reported there. This behaviour is seen for 8-10 custom concurrent jobs. I dont see error in the ICM log as well.
Finally the queue becomes so choked that we need to bounce the application. Bouncing concurrent tier alone also did not help.
Other custom job in the same concurrent manager complete successfully.
Bouncing included
-- shutting down web nodes
-- shutting down application tier
-- Manulally cancelling all the requests with NULL oracle_process_id in FND_CONCURRENT_REQUESTS table
-- Manually killing all the left over 'applmgr' processes. These are most print queue processes whcih keeps coming despite clean shut down of the application
Even after we kill all the 'applmgr' processes, these print queue process come again after 5-7 min. Not sure why or if this is causing issue.

--Starting the application
-- Same job now start completing fine and has the associated Oracle Process ID as well
Our environment Details
ERP version - 11.5.9 (RUP4 patchset)
Datbase - 9.2.0.6
OS - AIX 5.3 (application and db tier)
Web nodes - RHEL5
Pls help or guide with your input or if anyone has ever encountered any such issue before. This is really getting nasty because of PROD getting impacted.

Depends on what you actually mean..
When one dimension column contains NULL in your fact table, then it's normally a bad practice. Create a entry in your dimension table to represent this state.
The problem is that NULL is a state, which means does missing or inapplicable information. This means that the row in the fact table is semantically meaningless. Cause your fact table is no longer additive over this dimension.

How to delete the NULL entries in nest table

After I used a loop and open/fetch cursor populated the object table
I found there are random NULL entries in my object table (nest table)
The data look like this

u can write a report program for this and in that use the event :
AT NEW <field-name> ( use primary key)
your statements
ENDAT
for eg.
loop at itab ( herfe itab must be of type of table for which u want to track new entries)
at new matnr
write:/ new record
endat
endloop.
schedule this report in background to run in every 5 or 10 mins as per your requirement and hence changes can be tracked.

I am using ODI 10.1.13
I have declred teh Target datastore
and mapped the target datastore with source in teh interface
But when ODI is creating teh target database all the columns are created with accepting NULL Properties.
where as i hv declared some as null and some with notnull.
when i checked in IKM Oracle Incrimental KM(MERGE)-> create target table step

Null value in detail table's primary key

I use Business Components Data Form to define a master-detail java panel.
I don't display the primary key column in the detail grid control.
Then I click on "+" to add a row, enter a value (the 2nd part of the detail table's primary key) and click commit.
I get an error saying that the primary key column that's not displayed is null and the row cann't be committed.
How do I fix this error?

P.P.S After you reply and change to ComboBoxControls in 2 places, try changing the table names and/or the column names (say to follow the DBA's naming convention) or add another field to the composite primary key (and unstated foriegn key) (using drop table/create table). Now try getting the existing code to run. No writing down the old/new table (or column) name pair names. Just run the code and try to fix the code based on the error messages. Are the error messages giving you adequate information to find the problem?

I am understanding alot of what Michael and Rod wrote.... I am just puzzled over the following:
the query below is left joining the STUDENT table to
HOLD table.
The HOLD table - contains rows for students who have holds on their record.
a student can have more than one hold (health, HIPAA, basic life saving course)
BUT, for this query: I'm only interested that a hold exists, so I'm choosing MAX on hold desc.
Selecting a MAX, helps me, bec. it reduces my join to a 1 to 1 relationship, instead of
1 to many relationship.
Before I posted this thread at all, the LEFT JOIN below testing for IS NOT NULL worked w/o
me having to code IS NOT NULL twice....
Is that because, what's happening "behind the scenes" is that a temporary table containing all max rows is being
created, for which Discoverer has no predefined join instructions, so it's letting me do a LEFT JOIN and have
the IS NOT NULL condition.
I would so appreciate clarification. I have a meeting on Tues, for which I have to explain LEFT JOINS to the user
and how they should create a query. I need to come up with rules.
If I feel "clear", I asked my boss to buy Camtasia videocast software to create a training clip for user to follow.

How to replace NULL values from main table

Dear all,
I like to remove the NULL values from a main table field. Or the question is how to replace any part of the string field in MDM repository main table field.
e.g. I have a middle name field partly the value is NULL in some hundreds of records, I like to replace NULL values with Space

Hi Naeem,
You can try using Workflows for automatically replacing NULLs with any specific value.
What you can do is: Create a workflow and set trigger action as Record Import, Record Create and Record Update. So, that whenever any change will occur in the repository; that workflow will trigger.
Now create an assignment expression for replacing NULLs with any specific value and use that assignment expression in your workflow by using Assign Step in workflow.
For exiting records, you will have to replace NULLs manually using the process given by Preethi else you can export those records in an Excel spreadsheet which have NULLs and then replace all NULLs with any string value and then reimport those records in your MDM repository.

Null value in Nested table of nested table for xml guru Steve Muench

The procedure I am using takes xml document with nested levels and insert into single table using DBMS_XMLSave.insertXML.
I am able to insert into table without any error message but when I am selecting row from table, it is showing null values in all the column of nested table's inner nested table.
When I am removing nested table's nested table by replacing with object type, it is showing data of object type for the first occurance and ignoring the rest nested occurance.
Help is greatly appreciated.

First of all, don't use all CAPS when typing, it gets difficult to follow your text! Also try putting your code in [ code ] -tags in the future, it's so much easier to follow code that way.
Looking at your database it appears as if name isn't holding a value when you use it in your database call.
