Nullpointer when forwarding to JSP

Hello...
I'm recieving a Nullpointer exeption in the line marked with 1):
private void gotoPage(String address, HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException {
1) RequestDispatcher dispatcher = getServletContext().getRequestDispatcher(address);
dispatcher.forward(request, response);
I'm trying to forward to address /JSP/LoginSuccess.jsp but a plain HTML file also gives an Nullpointer.
Stranges thing is. I'm receiving this exception since i changed the init of my servlet from having no arguments to having init (ServletConfig config).
Any ideas?
Thanks very much.

Stranges thing is. I'm receiving this exception since
i changed the init of my servlet from having no
arguments to having init (ServletConfig config).
The init(config) is called bythe servlet container and the servlet stores the config and ServletContext objects but by overriding this method you have hidden the code where the ServletContext object gets stored so your call to getServletContext now returns null. Make sure you call the super.init(config) method.
From the servlet api:
public void init(ServletConfig config)
throws ServletExceptionCalled by the servlet container to indicate to a servlet that the servlet is being placed into service. See Servlet.init(javax.servlet.ServletConfig).
This implementation stores the ServletConfig object it receives from the servlet container for later use. When overriding this form of the method, call super.init(config).

  • I can no longer select multiple addresses from my Mail address book when forwarding emails

    Since updating to Mavericks I cannot select multiple addresses from my address book when forwarding emails.
    I can select them individually using the + sign in the address bar but cannot select any when I open my Contact list as I have done with previous systems.
    Additionly, the full address appears in the "To" window instead of just the name and without the email address. I have selected "Smart Address" from the Preferences menu, View section.

    Why are you using a Hotmail or Live Mail SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account?
    This is likely the cause of the problem. Use Gmail's authenticated SMTP server to send email with your Gmail account.

  • Attachment disappear when forwarding a mail with attachment in a rule

    Could anyone verify my problem please?
    I have upgraded to Mountain Lion and Mail 6.1
    I have a rule set up in Mail to forward certain messages.
    However, since the upgrade, all messages being forwarded has all attachments striped.
    It appears that the problem occurs only when forward is being used by a rule.
    When I forward the same message manually, the attachment is sent as well.
    Am I missing something?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Update:
    Found the answer last night.
    Forward mail in a rule behaves differently since OS X Lion from previous versions.
    Forward mail set in a Rule would not forward any attachments in the original email.
    If forwarding with attachments is required, use redirect in the Rule instead. (However,
    you cannot append any message when using redirect)

  • Exchange 2013 Issue: Outlook 2010 auto populating the From Tab when forwarding email

    Exchange 2013 Issue: Outlook 2010 auto populating the From Tab when forwarding email
    I am running Exchange 2013 and I have an end user who connects to it via Outlook 2010. All was going well till he went to forward an email and he noticed that the From button appeared and auto populated the sender's email address.
    I have clicked the Empty Auto Complete List in Outlook's Send messages... still displayed the From tab when forwarding.
    I recreated the profile in outlook... same thing.
    I created the profile with outlook 2013... same thing.
    There is only one user profile setup in Outlook.
    (I know the from tab usually appears when you have multiple profiles setup in Outlook and/or when you configure the "From" tab.)
    I opened the end user's email in Exch 2013's OWA... what was different here was when I clicked on the email and it opened, it did NOT have the Reply or Forward option... and it displayed as a "Draft" email.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    So are you saying that the from button is filling the option with the original senders address (eg the person who sent the message to your user), or that it's filling in the your users address (in which case I don't understand what the issue is, since
    it IS going from your user)?

  • Moving Scriptlet Code to backing bean when converting from JSP - Facelets

    Hello!
    We are converting our application from jsf1.2 to 2.0 and all jsps are being converted to XHTML. Some are trivial while others had very complex scriptlets.
    I would like to know what are some of the recommended ways of moving Scriptlet Code to backing bean when converting from JSP -> Facelets.
    I have thought about listeners, actionListeners, putting code getXXXX() of the backing bean and then calling #{bean.XXXX} but not sure whats the best way.
    I do appreciate the response!
    Eg of a jsp page:
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/xxx-jsf.tld" prefix="l" %>
    <%@ taglib uri="/WEB-INF/yyy-pp.tld" prefix="p" %>
    <%@ page import="com.ttyy.search.beans.jsf.AdvancedSearchFormManagedBean" %>
    <%@ page import="com.kkee.util.*"%>
    <%
        AdvancedSearchFormManagedBean advancedSearchFormManagedBean = (AdvancedSearchFormManagedBean) request.getSession().getAttribute("AdvancedSearchFormManagedBean");
        if (advancedSearchFormManagedBean == null) {
           advancedSearchFormManagedBean = new AdvancedSearchFormManagedBean();
           request.getSession().setAttribute("AdvancedSearchFormManagedBean", advancedSearchFormManagedBean);
        advancedSearchFormManagedBean.initializeForAdvancedSearchOptions();
        advancedSearchFormManagedBean.setQuickSearch();
         request.setAttribute("portletHeader", "Hello " + advancedSearchFormManagedBean.getPerson().getFirstname() + ", check out the latest programs in your practice areas and jurisdictions");
    %>

            if(rt!=null){
                rt.setDesc("my cle loaded");
                long now = System.currentTimeMillis();
                long start = rt.getStart() + rt.getTotal();
                rt.setInterval(now-start);
                rt.setTotal(rt.getTotal()+rt.getInterval());
                LogUtil.log(rt.toString(), LogUtil.DEBUG_LEVEL);

  • When to use jsp,and when to use servlet?

    I think that jsp and servlet can realize the same functions, because when run a jsp, it is transferred to a servlet program, so when to use jsp and when to use servlet?
    I am now developing the input interface for a website, I just use jsp and javabean to connect to weblogic and database, and I didn't use servlet, Is there any unseemliness?
    Thank you!

    IMHO I use servlets to control the flow between my jsp's based on a number of factors in a webapp. For instance, user authorization. If a user has the authorization to conduct various administrative functions on an application (like change user rights, reset passwords etc) they will have access to specific buttons or links on some screens that others will not. I use servlets to establish what access rights a user has and direct them to the appropriate pages. I also use servlets to test data validity on form input screens. I know that I can also do this with JavaScript but that can be disabled by the client and in order to prevent that I also double check the form input from a servlet. All my jsp's do is display the results of a business process (which is held in a JavaBean or EJB) and the servlets act as the controllers for the application, connecting to multiple databases, verifying application state, flow control etc. I try to keep the jsp as simple as possible as some of them are maintained by html developers who lack the necessary experience to write java code. I hope this helps.

  • How do I erase sender info when forwarding e mails

    I want to forward emails but i do not want to have them see where it came from. It does not allow me to erase sender info when forwarding it.

    Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
    If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
    Computers don't use local time, but rather they use GMT and allow the user to adjust the offset for local time. There's usually a preference provided in the web mail software that can be set for your offset from GMT. Other software used on the web sometimes show the user the local time for that server, like this forum uses PDT for displaying time.

  • Mail 1.3.11 won't hold formatting when forwarding

    My Mail 1.3.11 version won't hold newsletter formatting (html?) when I forward a message - only text shows up, photos or columns. How can I get Mail to keep format when forwarding?

    Some junk mail may use HTML to embed graphics that, when retrieved from the sender's servers, reveal information about your computer's address and the time of day you read the message. If Mail detects that a message is junk, the HTML images won't be loaded. If you want to load them, you can click the Load Images button in the Junk Mail banner that appears above the body of the message.
    You can also protect your privacy by turning off the HTML elements in messages and only displaying the text.
    To turn off the display of HTML elements in messages:
    Choose Mail > Preferences and click Viewing. Deselect the "Display images and embedded objects in HTML messages" checkbox.
    When you view HTML messages, images and embedded objects will not be downloaded or displayed. This may make the messages harder to read.

    In Mail go to the Window Menu and select Previous Recipients. Deleting entries from there won't delete them from your Address Book.

  • Exchange 2013 OWA is not auto formatting hyperlinks when forwarding a message

    I have 2 sales managers in a company that receive sales leads via email from our website. The email is formatted in HTML with a table containing the name and email address of the customer and the url of the product they're interested in from our website.
    The managers then forward this email to the next available sales associate to contact the potential customer.
    The first sales manager uses Outlook and receives the sales lead email with active hyperlinks intact for the email address of the customer and url of the product. When you inspect the email, there is no href code in the source, so outlook is recognizing
    the types 'email address' and 'url' to make the text active. He then forwards the email to sales with active hyperlinks in the source. (they prefer this)
    The second sales manager uses OWA. when he receives the email, the email address and url are plain text (which is how its coded) so when he forwards the email to sales there are no hyperlinks.
    Is it possible to set OWA (for exchange 2013) to auto format (recognize then format) email addresses and url's from an email when forwarding it that didn't have the href code in the source to begin with? ...like Outlook does?

    Hi,
    Does this issue happen on all the OWA users or on specific user?
    Does this issue happen when sending emails by HTML format?

  • When forwarding a message it is surrounded in red lines how do I elinmate them

    When forwarding a message it is always blocked with red lines around the message and heading. I have never had this happen with other email programs such as Windows Live, hope you can help eliminate this very annoying problem.
    Thanks.

    Ignore them. They are Thunderbird's attempt to help you navigate complex systems of frames, often resulting from multiple forwardings. They let you decide exactly where in a message you will insert new content. I do occasionally try to flatten the content by taking out unnecessarily nested frames, but it's usually not worth the effort.
    Send a copy of such a message to yourself and you'll see they are invisible to the recipient - until it is re-edited in Thunderbird.
