Num Lock onscren message language

Hi, i need help with on screen message NumLock, or another hotkeys state..
State imform me in "slovenian"language but i want slovak or english...
In Slovak : Num LOCK: Zapnutý

Hello restaurateur,
Unfortunately, what you wrote and from the screen shot you took are two different things written.
NUMLOCK: ISKLJUCENO means NUMLOCK: OFF
and what you wrote NUMLOCK: Zapnuty means NUMLOCK: ON
So is this question about changing the language in which it pops up the message of to make the NUMLOCK from off to on?
Hope this helps,
Alex

  • Num Lock Off message upon opening lid

    Hello,
I never use the num lock, yet when I open the lid and unlock the laptop by entering my password, the num-lock symbol is constantly on and remains on. Sometimes if I close the lid and open it again the symbol will go away, but this is a hassle. Any tips? Advise?

"I don' think you fully understand the issue"
I agree. Due to lack of accurate details in the original post.
Here's the current behaviour on my system:
    1. Whiled logged in, in an Windows desktop session, default num lock state is off (no message nor symbol is displayed on the desktop).
    2. Upon pressing Fn+ScrLk (NmLk), a "num lock on" symbol indicator is displayed on the lower right hand side of the display.  The symbol remains visible for the duration of the "num lock" in the on state.
    3.  Upon pressing Fn+ScrLk (NmLk) again (while the "num lock on" symbol indicator is displayed on screen), the "num lock on" indicator is then replaced with a "num lock off" indicator".  This indicator does not stay visible indefinitely, and will fade out and finally disappear after a few seconds of the action.
    I don't get a "message"...

  • Num Lock not working

Hey, when I click Num Lock the computer doesn't register the numbers. For some reason the *+-= buttons work in num lock, but when I try to hit the buttons with the numbers it doesn't. Any help?

Thanks, please let me know if you get any solution. I think its a software problem, but here in Argentina, I cant get a solution from blackberry.
    Thanks again!!!
Looks like I got the solution here, thanks to Wind Mobile's technical support! The FAQ I had previously read, suggests pressing ALT and SHIFT in a certain order. That sounded similar to the instructions given for how to do it on my Bold 9700 too, so I got confused and thought it was exactly like on my Bold, but it's a little different.
On the Pearl, you have to first hold down the Shift key, and while holding it, you have to press the Alt key, without letting go of the Shift.  That's different than with my Bold, where I have to first press Alt, let go of it, and then press one of the Shift keys which will either put it in capslock or numlock mode.
To exit the numlock mode on the Pearl, you have to press the Alt key once again. That's different than on the Bold, where you had to instead press the Shift key again.
Let me know if this works for you too, then I'll mark this message as the solution here. And you can probably post it on the spanish language forum here too.

  • Can I enable Num Lock on boot up via a VBScript in Win 8.1 with Update 1?

Hope this is the correct place for this - someone directed me to the TechNet Forums from the Windows 8.1 general forum, and then from the 'Windows Forms General' forum to this one (not sure if my thread has been copied/moved to this forum already by one
of the moderators; if it has, my apologies, but I am not am regular forum user and I don't understamnd most of the shorthand being used by others, whether something is something someone has written as part of a repsonse or an action they have taken, or just
part of their sign off or what).
In the good old days of Windows XP, I was able to ensure Num Lock was on at boot up by the use of a small VB Script file, which was this:
    set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
    WshShell.SendKeys "{NUMLOCK}"
It is really annoying with Win 8.1 that on Boot Up, AND
every time I want to switch user, Num Lock goes off (even if it was on before switching user).  I want Num Lock to be on at Boot Up AND stay on when switching user.
I have seen the suggested remedies in other forums about changing the appropriate value in the Registry (which does not work until after logon) and changing the BIOS setting (which does not work because Windows overrules the BIOS setting).  The question
is whether the VBScript solution will work with Win 8.1?
If it will, in which folder do I put the Script file in order for it to work for all Users?
And do I have to make the any changes to Group Policy to make it work, and if so what chnages, as seems to be the case if the OS was Win 7 (mine is Win 8.1 Update 1, and NOT Win 8 Pro).
Thanks in advance for all technical help on this one.

    Hi jrv
Fine, and I followed your advice straight away (I posted exactly the same question on the GP Forum) and recived one reply about creating a script and using GP to do something.......
    BUT
as my post above dated 10th September states very clearly:
"Perhaps I need to add that this is a single, standalone, home PC, with 2 users, running Win 8.1 Core/Basic.  Also, I cannot find the Group Policy Editor on the PC; when I type either 'gpedit' or 'gpedit.msc' into Run, I get a message saying that
the file canot be found on the PC.  This when logged on as user with administrator powers.  It is not found either from a Command prompt.  And there does not seem to be a GP Snap-in available via the MM Console."
Given that situation, how on earth do I use Group Policy?
I am not frustrated with the people who are trying to help me and I have tried everything that people have suggested.  But I am frustrated that people do not seem to be reading my contributions to this debate which are trying, as clearly as I know how,
to explain what is actually happening at my end.  All I can truthfully say is that NONE of those suggestions that I am able to implement turn NumLock on at initial Bootup before anyone logs on.
And I do not have access to Group Policy to change or add a new Script of any sort there.  If you are able to tell me how I can do that, then I might well be able to achieve what I want.  But it now seems that, without that, I cannot achieve what
I want.  If that is the case, then end of.
    Neil
Ok - you are home y=user with little technical training on deployment and management of desktop systems.  You should be posting in
htttp://answers.microsoft.com.  This forum is for administrative scripting and not for user PC repair and configuration.  Forget about GP as it is for trained technicians and not for home users.  All you need to
do on a home PC is to set the registry once.  There is a "FixIt" in the link I posted that will do this for you.
You can also call the vendor or Microsoft support for help with the issue.  It is in no way a script related problem.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • Can I use a VB SCript to enable Num Lock at logon in Win 8.1 with Update 1?

Hope this is the correct place for this - someone directed me to the TechNet Forums from the Windows 8.1 general forum, and then from the 'Windows Forms General' forum to one on Scripting and now to this one on Group Policy this one.  Hope I have now
got to the correct technical forum to answer the question below, which is driving me nuts.
In the good old days of Windows XP, I was able to ensure Num Lock was on at boot up by the use of a small VB Script file, which was this:
    set WshShell = CreateObject("WScript.Shell")

Thanks in advance for any help on this one.  Please note, I am NOT an expert user, so please try and explain any shorthand you use that you take for granted but which I won't understand!!
    Neil

Thanks for this reply, RBoyde, but........
... as my orignal message suggested, I have hardly a clue what you are saying and the link doesn't help me understand any better either (as it doesn't seem to help with how to do something with an existing Registry key).
    To be speciific:
    1.  what script do I write?
    2.  where do I save it so it works for all users at logon AND on switching users?
    3.  how do I "run it as a logon script via group policy"????
Perghaps I need to add that this is a single, standalone, home PC, with 2 users, running Win 8.1 Core/Basic.  Also, I cannot find the Group Policy Editor on the PC; when I type either 'gpedit' or 'gpedit.msc' into Run, I get a message saying that the
file canot be found on the PC.  This when logged on as user with administrator powers.  It is not found either from a Command prompt.  And there does not seem to be a GP Snap-in available via the MM Console.
Please clarify for me what looks to be a helpful response - for I am just a 'bear of little brain' (as per Winnie the Pooh).

  • Boot with Num Lock turned on

    Hello all,
I have a G500 laptop.  When it boots up, I would like the Num Lock to automatically be turned on.  I can't see anything in the BIOS that would do that.  Any other places I should be looking?  Any other way to keep it turned on?

    Hi Dan, welcome,
I don't know if this will work on your specific machine or OS.  It did work (actually caused some problems) on a somewhat older machine.
Bring up the on-screen keyboard: in Win 7 start->search-> "on-screen keyboard".  Click the Options button and tick the "turn on numeric keyboard" check box.  That should add a NumLock key to the on-screen keyboard.  Click that.
On a U160 that caused NumLock to persist on reboot.

  • Satellite P500 (PSPE8A-01R002) - Number pad and num lock not working

After upgrading to Windows 7 the number pad and num lock on my P500 PSPE8A-01R002 is not working.
    Any help will be appreciated.

Since keys worked in vista then its reasonable to assume there is something in the "software". I doubt that windows can make changes to the bios though there is Toshiba HWsetup but that does't look to do anything relevant.
I don't know what conclusions could be drawn from the results of trying an external keyboard.
How about trying various boot sequences such as direct to the command prompt and direct to safe mode to pin down it the problem is specific to your W7 installation? - why not try making a bootable cd (i'd have to google to find out how but you should be able to try windows 98 or even DOS - there was also a run from cd/dvd version of Linux and there's also the new Google os to consider).
Within W7 the only things that affect the keyboard would be settings in control panel > ease of access where the keypad can be set up as a mouse or keys remapped so num lock is "something else" and, clutching at straws, I presume keyboard language settings - are there any languages that require use of a numeric key pad to give a full character set (keyboard set to foreign language and Windows set to "English" so that the foreign character set isn't displayed?

    hey Tobsel,
as far as i know, there should not be any issues if that process is killed. However, your num lock key may or may not work sporadically.

  • 12/27/07 update and Caps/Num Lock

I'm not positive that the update came out today, but it's when I found it and downloaded it. Upon the restart, my Num Lock light was on and so was Caps Lock. I thought it was odd, but I turned them off and didn't think about it.
Gee. Big surprise. The update managed to reverse the functions of these two buttons. If they turned OFF, i.e., the lights are OFF ... then the lock function is on. So if the caps lock light is OFF, caps lock is ON. Same thing for Num Lock.
Now, I like the little green lights myself, but I'm afraid to find out what else is reversed and screwed up.
I so regret paying for a family license pack. Particularly since I have not upgraded the other computers in the house after all the troubles I've had with Leopard.
    sigh

and you did the recent security update, too?
    EDIT:
Well, after the third restart, the issue seems to have resolved. Bizarre.

  • TX2500 when I turn it on the capslock and num lock flash at a rate of 3 seconds apart ?

When I turn the computer on the capslock and num lock flash at a rate of 3 seconds apart until I turn the machine off. I have checked everywhere and have also tried the hard reset and nothing works...also the screen does not turn on at all to display any messages of any sort.I can hear the fans kick on though

Same problem with my 2 yr old HP Pavilion tx 2000
I sent it back to HP for repair and paid around $300. It broke down with the same symptoms after 2 weeks. Sent it back to them again. Again after a month the same issue happened. Luckily all of this happened within 90 day warranty. Sent it to them again.
Now today after 4 months of last repair my laptop wont turn on, with exactly the same symptoms. Called HP today, and the representative was trying to sell me a new laptop a srepair is no more under warranty.
I spent $900 on the original computer and another $300 for repairs and what they are advising me now is to buy a new one. Even they dare to ask me to buy their product again as they say I should not judge the company through my bad experience.

    Hello and welcome,
A couple of things you might try.  Don't know if they'll work on your W.  They do work on some other Lenovo machines.
Plug in a USB keyboard that has numlock.  Use that and see if it sticks after reboot.
Use the on-screen keyboard.  Click "options" and enable numeric keypad.  That should add a keypad and NUMLOCK key to the on-screen keyboard.  Use that.  See if it works - and if it sticks.
    (Windows 7) Start -> Accessories -> Ease of Access -> On-Screen Keyboard.

  • DV6 Flashing 2 times Num Lock and Cap Lock Keys on Startup

  • Num lock on Thikpad T430

T430 doesn't have a num lock button and num pad. I can't find num lock shortcut in the manual (with Fn and a letter key). I suppose there is no such. Have anyone found a convenient and easy way to enable it? I've tried a script described on the microsoft support site (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314879/en), although I see numlock on notification (not the same as pressing nmlk on T420).

No NUMLOCK since no numeric keypad or numeric overlay?
Maybe try this.  It does work on some older Lenovo machines that don't show a numeric overlay and creates a phantom overlay.  Probably not, but maybe...
(In Win 7, leaving it to the reader to figure out Win 8): Start -> Accessories -> Ease of Access -> On Screen Keyboard.
Click OPTIONS, then check "Turn on numeric keypad".  The On-screen NUMLOCK will affect the physical keyboard - if this works at all.

  • OSD indication for caps lock and num lock on Thinkpad Edge 540

Hello !You may know that the Thinkpad Edge E series have a keyboard lacking the caps lock and num lock leds.On Windows, one can have an OSD display (temporary or permanent)  for these two indications.I still need to find something equivalent on Linux. So I ask : Is there a way to have such OSD on Linux ? If not, Mr Lenovo, could you port the Windows OSD on Linux ?Many thanks in advance for your answer.

I use "Keylocks Indicator" in OpenSUSE and Mint installations. Places a tell tale indicator in the system tray as well as provides on screen notification (pop up message). Check it out here... http://www.noobslab.com/2013/10/keylocks-indicator-for-ubuntulinux.html.

  • Num lock stopped functioning on Qosmio F750

    Hello,
I have a Qosmio F750-11T. Four days ago I started up my laptop and found out my num lock stopped functioning. The led always lights up, but the buttons do not respond. I can't put the num lock off or on and I can 't produce any numbers anymore with it (nor use the pgup, pgdn buttons when it should be off).
I read some stuff on the (.com) forum and updated the BIOS to the latest version, rebooted it, but nothing helps.
I bought the laptop just 3 months ago. I would appreciate if somebody could help me out with this.
    Thank you!

Best thing you can do is to contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. Im pretty sure they will exchange keyboard and everything will be OK again. Notebook is pretty new with valid warranty so you must not pay for keyboard exchange.
