Number of records in BPC Cube

Dear Friends,
I am working in EPM10 NW/BW 7.31.
I just want to know  how can I find number of records in BPC cube from the back end (i.e using T-Code RSA1)
As I am not a BW expert, any simple suggestion will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rahul

Hi Rahul,
The way I do it is right click on the cube, then display data.
goto the bottom section of the menu where you see the following:
tick output number of hits
also change the max no, of hits to a high number
then run
in the output screen you sum up the first column, it will give you the total number of records in the cube

  • How to find number of records in a cube and ODS....

    Hi,
How do we find total number of records in a cube and ODS?
Is there any Tcode for this ?
From the content it is difficult to get the number of records, if it is more in number.
    Thanks,

  • Max number of records in a cube & architectural issues

    Hi,
Sorry if my question was already done but i can't find the same question with the research button (may be i have not the good words for search, I'm not english).
I am on a BIG BIG IP project. The forecast volume of planned records is about 1.000.000.000 records a year. So we choose to split records toward many cubes.
    1) Is there a maximum number of record supported by a cube to be planned? We planned to put 100.000.000 records maximum on a cube to be planned. Is it too much?
    2) If I make 100 cubes (one for each organizational entity) with 10.000.000 records per cube and if I "plug" a planning layout on these 100 cubes with a multiprovider, will IP:
spread time to search the good cube to write in (due to the selected entity) in the 100 cubes (too much time !), or,
search directly in the good cube (thanks to user exit that match cube with selected entity), so the response time will be about the same as the one for 1 layout plugged on 1 cube of 10.000.000 records?
Thanks a lot, and sorry for my english language level
    Georges

    Hi Georges,
Having too many records in the cube should not be very detrimental for performance of planning application as long as you can ensure that the data volume that you fetch at one go is restricted to reasonable limits, using restrictions in filters (the more restrictive the better). Take care of this while modelling both your planning functions/sequences and input-ready queries.
I understand that you'll need to create a multiprovider for reporting purposes, but if you dont need the data from more than one cube for planning purpose, it will be better to create the aggregation level (and rest of the planning model) on top of individual cube. In case, you want to use the same planning function/input queries for multiple cubes (which will probably be the case), you can create the aggregation levels on the multiprovider but make sure you restrict the characteristic 'infoprovider' properly in the filter restrictions to avoid the function reading unnecessary data from many cubes.
    Hope this helps.

  • Number of records in cube from Query Designer

I don't have access to the cube in BW(listschema). I only have access to pull reports from cube from Query Designer. How can I tell the total number of records in a cube?
    Thanks.

    Hi
you can use the tech content in the query designer to display the count for no of records or you can do the same via creating a new CKF
or see the below link to display the count

  • Cube - number of records

    Hi everybody,
how can I check the number of records in a Cube to some selection e.g. Fiscal Year 2010.
    Regards
    Erwin

    Hi
You can also go for the below option..
    1. Go to cube -> Display Data
Select the Info Objects on which you want to set filter.
On the next screen you will get an option to pas the filter values for the selcted info objects.
in the below part of the screen, mark the option out put number of hits.
Exeucte it after removing the restrction of 200 hits.
In the output there will be one column which will have 1 value for each row. Sum up it.
You will get the number of records in a cube for a particular selection.
    2. One other way is write a small ABAP program.
Read data from the fact table of the cube into an internal table by firing a select query for the particular selction .In your case fiscal year .
describe the internal table to an integer varaible and display that variable.
It will display the total number of records for that selection in the cube.
You can use this program for other cube also by passing the name of the cube as a parameter.

  • How to reduce the run time of ABAP code (BADI) when it is reading huge data from BPC Cube and thus writing  back huge data to the cube.

    Hi All ,
In Case of reading huge amount of record from BPC Cube  from BADI code , performing calculations and writing back huge amount of data into the cube , It takes lot of time . If there is any suggestion to read the data  from Cube  or writing data into the cube using some Parallel Processing  methods , Then Please suggest .
    Regards,
    SHUBHAM

    Hi Gersh ,
If we have a specific server say 10.10.10.10 (abc.co.in) on which we are working, Then under RZ12 we make the following entry  as :
    LOGON GROUP          INSTANCE
    parallel_generators        abc.co.in_10         ( Lets assume : The instance number is 10 )
Now in SM59 under ABAP Connections , I am giving the following technical settings:
    TARGET HOST          abc.co.in
    IP address                  10.10.10.10
    Instance number          10
Now if we have a scenario of load balancing servers with following server details (with all servers on different instance numbers ) :
    10.10.10.11
    10.10.10.13
    10.1010.10
    10.10.10.15
In this case how can we make the RZ12 settings and SM59 settings such that we don't have to hardcode any IP Address.
If the request is redirected to 10.10.10.11 and not to 10.10.10.10 , in that case how will the settings be.
I have raised this question on the below thread :
How to configure RZ12  and SM59 ABAP connection settings when we have work with Load Balancing servers rather than a specific server .

  • Checking no of records in a cube.

    Hi All,
I am trying to check the number of records in a cube. I tried two ways .
    1) Using listcube -> rowcount -> total
    2) RSA1 -> Manage -> Count no of records for each request.
I am getting different result for both . Can anyone help me on this?
    Regards,
    Sagar

    Why Added Records ??
Ans :- Because there will be default aggreagation ...
These two will always be different
    Think like
    REQ1 has CHARA CHARB KF1 KF2
    REQ2 also has CHARA CHARB KF1 KF2
When i see the records from LISTCUBE
I will just see i record for CHARA and CHARB with Key Figures will summed up ..
I hope u understood the issue
    Cheers!!

  • How to find the number of records per months  in cube

    Hi,
how to find the number of records per months for my all cubes?
Can i use the ListCube transaction to find totl number f records per cube monthwise ?
    Jimmy

    Hi,
Here is a program to generate no of records and list of ODS and Cubes in Active version.Schedule this program in background and create a cube to load this information and schedule to the data from the file generated by the program. Schedule this all per you requirement.
1.Copy the code into your Z<programname> from Se38.
2.change the FILENAME in CALL FUNCTION 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' in the program to the location from where you can pick the information to load data to cube(eg Application server).
    3.Save program.
4.Schedule the program in background as required
5.Create cube with infoobjects to hold no of records and Infoprovider name
6.Load this cube based on event after the program job is done.
Hence you can report on this cube to see no of records in  CUBE or ODS in your box.
    Please find the code below.

  • Number of records being pulled from OLAP/ SQL in BPC 5.1

    Hello BPC gurus,
We are experience performance issues with EVDRE.basically the report errors out and the error log states " Decompressing request failed". We are in BPC 5.1
We were trying to understand how many number of records the evdre is pulling from from OLAP / database  so that we can look into some fine tuning opportunities of the EVDRE.
In the BI world we have RSRT where in which we can view the number of records from database, number of records transferred. Is there any such feature in BPC, where in which we can information on record counts.
We have turned on the error logs , but none of them give us an idea of the record count.
    Appreciate your help in advance.
    Thanks
    sai

    Hi Sorin,
Thank you very much for getting to me on my clarificaiton on the record count. As per your suggestion, we have already looked into this OSS note, and changed the entries in the table. After making these changes, the queries that normally execute in 1 min, now take 30 minutes to complete. Believe this was the observation also in some of the threads related to this issue.
You had mentioned that there might be an issue with the communication between application server  and BPC Client. or SQE generating MDX query.  Can you please give us some pointers on how to investigate this. Have turned on error logs evdataserver_debug.txt & EVDATASERVER_TRACE.txt on the file server,  but i believe there is an OSS note 1311019, that talks about these logs not workign with SP9.
If you can guide us in the folllowing that would be helpful
1  how to bebug this issue that we are currently facing.
    2. How does the concept of compressing / decompressing work in BPC.
    Thanks

  • Number of records in Report and Cube don't match

    Hello,
I have a small query. In the cube, thru the 'Manage' context menu option I find in the ' Request' tabstrip the number of records loaded =  23767.
In the report on this cube I see the number of records = 23369.
I have not put any restriction or condition in the report. It is a si,ple report that is created to see all the records loaded.
May you please help me in understanding the reason for the same.
    Thanks for you help.
    Regards,

To compare the reocrds in Cube against BW Query
try to display records for small range (monthly) / by Cost Center / any similar key field and then compare the Cube totals with Report totals.

  • Number of records in Cube and in report

    Hi,
Is it possible to have less number of records visible in InfoCube and in reporting report has to show all the records?i.e., if cube contains 100000 records while using InfoCube--->manage and checking the data it has to show only 90000 records, while reporting it has to show all the records. If it is possible how?

If you want all the records to be displayed on the report as in the cube create a report having all chars & keyfigures with no filters.
Sry, I dont get the 90000 part..."checking the data it has to show only 90000 records" -- checking where & how ?
<b>**Added</b> will be the num of records in the cube.

  • Less number of Records while loading data from one cube to another

    Hi,
We are in the process of doing major changes in the existing InfoCube.
Before making any changes, we had planned to make a copy of the cube with data.
For this we did the following steps :
    1. Created the new cube from the original cube.
    2. Generated Datasource on the Orignal cube.
    3. Made a update rule on the new cube by selecting the Orinal cube.
    4. Made a InfoPack on Infosouce which got created with 8<original cube>.
    5. Uploaded the data into the new cube.
We have uploaded the data successfully from the original cube to the new cube.
However, New cube shows less number of records as compared to the original cube.
But the query is showing the same figures from both the cubes.
Can anyone please advise what could be the reason for this less number of records and how the figures are showing same when we run the query from both the cubes.
    Please help.
    Thanks
    Ramesh Ganji

    Hi Ramesh,
this is possible coz when u have loaded yr original cube, it may be loaded on daily/weekly basis. so in the cube there are many requests. Also if in the same request, if there are two records with same dimension keys ther are automatically added aggregating them.
if req 1 has following records
    cust mat amt
    1      1     100
    1      1       50
    it will add
    1      1     150
and if the records are seperated by different req, then both will b added individually.
therefore when u r loading yr new cube from original cube, all records that has same dimension key gets aggregated coz they are loaded into single request. so it showing less no of records as added.
    hope this helps.

  • Hw to find total number of records

    Hi All,
    Can anyone help from these
    1. how to find total number of reports for a particular cube/ods... need step - step solution
    2. how to find total number of records for a particular Cube and ODS and Aggr's to till date.
    3.what is sandbox,mirror sys,instance of a sys..?
4.what r TWS(Tivoli Workload Scheduler) jobs? how these r different to standard schedulers?
    Thanks in ADv
    Linda

    Hello Linda,
As you have lots of answers on first 2 so i'll start from 3rd onward.
    3. Sandbox is mostly practice system where you can do all kind of R&D, mirror sys can be mirror image of any system depends on the organization and instance of system is again mirror image of one system.
    4. TWS is third party tool for scheduling which doesn't come along with SAP like standard scheduler as TWS has been prepared specially for this purpose so it has some more features than standard.
    Hope it helps.

  • How to calculate the number of records in Multiprovider

    Hi Experts
I have created a report based on the multiprovider (Consist of Cube and ODS)
I need count the number of records inside the multiprovider, how can i do it in the reporting level
    Regards
    Santosh

    Hi,
You can use calculated key figure with replacement path variable.
    Follow This:
    1) From the context menu of the Key Figure directory, choose New Calculated Key Figure.
    2) From the context menu for the Formula Variable, choose New Variable.
    3) Choose the Processing type as Replacement Path.
    4) In the next screen, select the Characteristic Info Object based on which the number of documents is to be displayed in the report (For example: Document Number / Order Number).
    5) Choose Next.
In the Replace Variable with drop down box, choose Attribute Value.
In the Attribute drop down, select Characteristic Reference (Constant 1).
    6)Choose Next.
On the Save Variable page, an overview of the settings made for the variable will be displayed.
Confirm the entries and Choose Finish.
    7) If the Formula variable is directly assigned to the Calculated Key Figure, a warning Calculated Key Figure is not defined correctly will be displayed while executing the Query.
    8) Properties of Calculated Key Figure dialog box, assign a Technical name for the CKF.
    9) set the Time of Calculation to After Aggregation.
    Hope this will help you.
    Cheers,
    DK

  • Any table or program to get the number of records in P, A and F tables

    HI all
any table for program to get the number of records in P, A and F tables. I want to create SQ01 queries to get the status of number of records. We are gng for a production cutover next week. Want to capture all the data before and after Upgrade cutover.
Also suggest me how to create sq01 queries.
    Thanks in advance
    regards
    Janardhan KUmar K.

Use Transaction LISTSCHEMA to see all the tables assosciated with ur cube
Total number would be what you find in both the E & F fact tables. If there is no compression in the cube then E table will be empty.
Alternatively u can use se16 transaction and enter E table and F table manually
    E table - /BIC/E(Cube name) and Ftable -  /BIC/F(Cube name)
Or else u can go to the manage of the cube and without selecting any field for O/P and ticking the option output number of hits execute. The total of Row Count will give u the total no of records in the cube.
