Number of rows which can be retrieved in Discoverer Report

Hi All,
Is there any maximum limit on the number of rows which can be retrieved in Discoverer Report.
Regards,
Ankur

Hi ankur,
Rows for tables are fetched from the database incrementally in groups. The number of rows in each group is specified in the Options dialog box based on the value set in the option "Retrieve data incrementally in groups of." Click the Query Governor tab on the Options dialog box to see that option.
To override that setting you can retrieve all the rows at once instead of incrementally. Retrieving all rows applies only to tabular style reports.
* To retrieve all the rows at once instead of incrementally, choose
Sheet | Retrieve All Rows. The table includes all the rows.
* To count the number of rows choose Sheet | Count All Rows.
I think there would be some maximum limit,do check it out.

Kranthi.

  • Security - Can I limit the number of computers which can access a PDF?

I'd like to set the following specific securities over my PDF document:
    1. Password access
    2. Editing (copy/paste) disabled.
I already know how to do these two in Acrobat.
    3. Limit the number of computers which can open the document. (i.e. I want to prevent the document holder from sending their copy of the PDF to someone else via email, external hard drive, etc.  Once he/she opens the PDF on their laptop, it can't be opened again on any other cpu)
    4. Expiration (i.e. I want to set a 5/10/15/ or 30-day expiration on the document.  Once it's been opened, it will become inaccessible in 5/10/15/ or 30 days' time.....whichever I would specifiy)
Can someone help me with the last two items?  Your help is much appreciated.
    --Charles

If (and this is a big IF) all recipients of your PDFs have digital IDs (PKI-based certificates), you can encrypt your PDFs with certificate encryption. In the encryption workflow you add recipients' certificates (with public key only) to the encrypted document. After that only holders of one of those certificates may be able to open your PDFs. This method does not restrict the documents from opening only on specific CPUs and does not prevent documents from being moved from one location to another but rather restricts the ability to open this document to a pre0defined group of people who are identified by their Digital IDs.
The caveat here is that all these people need to have Digital IDs and send you their public keys.

  • Number of rows displayed per page in an interactive report

    Hi,
I'd like to know if it's possible to change the values of the select list called 'Rows' in an interactive report (which is displayed in the search bar).
    Indeed, I want to display 16 rows per page and I can only choose among the values 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 50, 100, 200...
    Thank you for your reply.
    Emilie.

    Hi Tobias,
    Thank you for your help.
I had already tried this but it's not what I want. What your are saying only limits the values in the select list (for example, if I set to 16, I can't choose values higher than 16 in the select list 'Rows' of the search bar).
I want to limit the number of rows displayed in the interactive report to 16 per page.
    Any other idea?
    Emilie.
    Hi Emilie,
    Go: Home>Application Builder>Application 301>Page 51>Interactive Report Attributes>Search Bar>Maximum Rows Per Page
    Set to = 16
Oracle help description: Defines the maximum number to display in Rows Per Page Selector in the search bar.

  • Can i Customize the Discoverer Reports

    Hello,
I mean to say that like we make a report in Report Builder and can write text on the report.
So can we write any thing on the report in discoverer?
    Regards
    Mustafa Ali Qizilbash

    Hi
You cannot do this in any of the current production versions. However, in the next release, codenamed Drake, this feature is available in the Plus (web) version.
My sources tell me that the release of Drake, which is really, 10g release 2, is imminent and we should expect to see the software being available on OTN sometime during the month of January.
    Hope this helps

  • Issue in updating large number of rows which is taking a long time

    Hi all,
Am new to oracle forums. First I will explain my problems as below:
    1) I have a table of 350 columns for which i have two indexes. One is for primary key's id
and the other is the composite id (combination of two functional ids)
    2) Through my application, the user can calculate some functional conditions and the result
is updated in the same table.
    3) The table consists of all input, intermediate and output columns.
    4) The only way of calculation is done through update statements. The problem is, for one
complete process, the total number of update statement hits the db is around 1000.
    5) From the two index, one indexed column is mandatory in all update where clause. So one
will come at any case but the other is optional.
    6) Updating the table is taking a long time if the row count exceeds 1lakh.
    7) I will now explain the scenario:
    a. Say there is 5lakh 100 records in the table in which mandatory indexed column id 1 has
100 records and id 2 has 5 lakhs record.
    b. If I process id 1, it is very fast and executed within 10seconds. But if I process id 2,
then it is taking more than 4 minutes to update.
Is there any way to increase the speed of the update statement. Am using oracle 10g.
Please help me in this, Since I am a developer and dont have much knowledge in oracle.
    Thanks in advance.

    Sethu

  • Maximum number of records which can be added to custom list

    HI,
What is the maximum number of records added to custom list, without increasing the list throttling?
    Thanks

its two differnt thing you are asking.
    1) Max Number of Record MSFT supported is 30,000,000 per library/List
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc262787.aspx#ListLibrary
    For List Throttling.
To minimize database contention, SQL Server often uses row-level locking as a strategy to ensure accurate updates without adversely
impacting other users who are accessing other rows.
check this one to understand more about throttling.

  • How to find which user has access to Discoverer Reports?

I need to find users having access to Discovered reports using a script. How can I do that?

    Hi,
You need to give more details...
Are you using oracle applications? are the users database users?
If you use oracle application you can use the following:
    SELECT DISTINCT Disco_Docs.Doc_Name "Discoverer Workbook"

    ,CASE
    WHEN Instr(Disco_Docs.Doc_Created_By

  • Max number of rows?

    Hi,
We have a new implementation of Enterprise X1 3.1 and are trying to determine what determines the maximum number of rows that can successfully be generated using Webi.  Is there a hard limit that Webi has (assuming the Universe max rows is deactivated)?
Also, is there a limit for Live Office extractions into Excel?  What are the main drivers for this limit?
Finally, all other factors being equal, are there different limits for the number of rows a query can return successfully in Webi vs Deski vs BEx?  How does the performance of these three tools compare to each other in terms of speed?
    Thanks!
    Darryl

Thanks for your reply!  I also got a response back from SAP / BObj that I'll share:
    Q) We have a new implementation of Enterprise X1 3.1 and are trying to determine what determines the maximum number of rows that can successfully be generated using Webi. Is there a hard limit that Webi has (assuming the Universe max rows are deactivated)?
=> There is a limit to the number of pages Web Intelligence reports can have. This is because there are a maximum number of pages (per report) the server can process. This number depends on the paper size chosen. Generally, it is approximately 590000 inches vertically by 590000 inches horizontally. Therefore, if you choose a smaller paper size, you get more pages but may not see all the pages of the report.
    Resolution:
To work around this behavior, you can either make each line smaller to get more records, or split your report into more than one report to see all your data.
    Q) Is there a limit for Live Office extractions into Excel? What are the main drivers for this limit?
=> By default its set to 512 rows and columns....however you can change this by modifying the Liveoffice_config.properties file...you can locate this file in /dswsbobje/lib/dsws_liveoffice_provider.jar.
    Q) Are there different limits for the number of rows a query can return successfully in Webi vs. Deski?
=> Although there is no official limit on the number of rows that can be handled by DeskI, it is really not meant to be used like a database, i.e. for returning millions of rows. The purpose of BusinessObjects reporting tools is to get useful information, which is not possible with millions of rows.
=> It has been observed that when the number of rows increases beyond 1.5 million approximately, it starts affecting the Desktop Intelligence performance. This behavior may vary from machine to machine depending upon the available resources and programs (processes) running in the background.
=> The limit is related to the number of rows those can actually be displayed in the report and not how many can be loaded into the data cube. All the rows get loaded in the cube however when it comes to rendering them in the report the problem may arise.
Example: Report A returns 2 million rows into the cube however due to the report design there are only 200 rows in the actual report page and can be run successfully. Report B tries to render all 2 million rows into the actual report page and can fail.
    Workaround:
Use filters in the report so that it will retrieve less number of rows and will also help to display useful data.

  • How to set number of rows in filters?

Hi, we need to set another number of rows which is displayed in filters on bex or web template?
    Thanks for advice

    Hi Pavel,
can you please specify your question more clearly. If you are on NW 7.0 you can determine a number of colums for your filter item with following command:
    COLUMNS
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/85/08e241aa8e9d39e10000000a155106/content.htm
If you meant the amount of rows within the analysis item you can use following command within your analysis item:
BLOCK_ROWS_SIZE   (numbers of rows displayed at once)
BLOCK_ROWS_STEP_SIZE  (numbers of rows to be scrolled for one step)

  • Max number of rows in a BEX structure

    Hi gurus,
we need to create a structure with 164 key figures, and before starting doing it, does anybody knows which is the max number of rows that can be created on a BEX structure?
I'm not asking about max number of rows on a query, i'm asking about the number of entries that you can manually create on a structure. Is there a maximum?
    Thanks in advance,
    regards,
    Miguel

    Hi Migual,
You can add as per your requirement. Please refer the following link

  • Stuck with Exact fetch returns more than requested number of rows!

    Hi
I've written the following code where i want to insert an id number into a package to update a record.
declare myvar NUMBER; begin SELECT App.id into myvar FROM people_units pu LEFT OUTER JOIN(
    SELECT pu.id,pu.record_date,pu.unit_instance_code,pu.person_code,pu.calocc_code,pu.record_date As received
    FROM people_units pu) App ON pu.person_code = App.person_code AND Trunc(pu.record_date) = Trunc(App.record_date)
    WHERE pu.id = 79474; ebs_units_pkg.AddProgressHistory(myvar,'AUTO');end;
when i run the query in SQL i get the error message ORA-01422 - Exact fetch returns more than expected number of rows.
Can anyone help me rseolve this error? The select statement may return more than one row which im guessing is the cause of the problem. If the select statement does return more than one value. 2 rows for example, i would like the package to update the 2 rows. Ive never really done any work with PL/SQL before so at a loss at where to begin!!

Do the select and the update all in one step. It will be much easier then.
    Example:
    UPDATE people_units
    SET yourColumn = calculatedValue
    WHERE id = 79474

  • How to get the number of rows in a report region

    Hi all,
Is there a way to get the number of rows returned in a report region, without issuing an additional "select count(*) from some_table"?
I mean something like the substitution string #ROW_NUM# but for the total rows.
    Thanks,
    Pedro.

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/user.40/e15517/ui.htm#CHDDGGEG
For classic report regions, the region footer supports the following substitution strings:#ROWS_FETCHED# shows the number of rows fetched by the Oracle Application Express reporting engine (the page size). You can use these substitution strings to display customized messages to the user. For example:
Fetched #ROWS_FETCHED# rows in #TIMING# seconds.
*#TOTAL_ROWS# displays the total number of rows that satisfy a SQL query used for a report.*
#FIRST_ROW_FETCHED# and #LAST_ROW_FETCHED# display the range of rows displayed. For example:
    Row(s) #FIRST_ROW_FETCHED# through #LAST_ROW_FETCHED# of #ROWS_FETCHED# displayed>

    mmurmeli,
Seems then that you've identified how to allow more rows (increase the heap space) ;)
Hard physical limits aside, there is a practical limit to how much information a single human mind can absorb.
