Number value average based on time average

Hello,
I am in need of help of trying to develop a formula to determine numerical average based on time average.  The example I have is,
Time
Value
9:00:00
102
9:00:05
103
9:00:10
104
9:00:15
105
9:00:20
106
9:00:25
107
9:00:30
108
9:00:35
109
9:00:40
110
9:00:45
111
9:00:50
112
9:00:55
113
 Is it possible to create a formula that would spit out the average value for a one minute average?  Thank you.

Not really sure, If I get what you need... but anyway - there are statistical functions in Excel, that could help you achieve that result ..
First idea - you don't have the whole "minute" data - so we can calculate the target value, if the time gets to 9:01:00 ... since you have linear data (see chart in attachment), we can use LINTREND function, that calculates one new value based
on known previous values... for time 9:01:00 the value would probably be 114. After that, you can calculate the standard AVERAGE function..or am I missing something here? :)
Try to go through the attachment and let me know it it works for you..

  • How to set the number of averages for doing octave analysis

    Hi
    I am using a 4472 DAQ for continuously acquiring time domain signal and doing octave band analysis using Sound and vibration tool kit. How can we set the number of averages while doing the Octave analysis. All  the other FFT vi like FRF, Auto Spectrum, Cross Spectrum have an option for setting the number of averages and then the vi runs for those many averages and it stops. How this same logic can be applied while doing octave analysis.
    Regards,
    Ankit

    Hi Ankit,
    You may want to consider using the VI in a for loop.  By wiring the "number of averages you wish to complete" to the count terminal ("N'), you can control how many times the VI runs.
    Hope this helps,
    Jennifer O.

  • Rule of thumb for the number of averages in an FFT for vibration analysis?

    I'm doing vibration analysis on rotating machinery and would like to average the FFT to minimize variations of the data (rms averaging).  How does one choose the optimum number of averages?
    Also, why is it necessary to specify the number of averages (for example, in the Spectral Measurements express VI) as well as telling the VI to restart averaging.  Would not the latter would be sufficient when the Spectral Measurements VI is enclosed in a loop?  Thanks.

    Thanks for your post.
    In my experience 20 is a good number.  It really depends however on a number of factors.
    1) does the frequency of the rotation of the machine (speed) change?  If so, averaging from an FFT would not work well.  I would use the Order Spectrum in the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite if speed changes.
    2) are loads changing (and speed is constant or you are using order spectrum)?  If so you will want a smaller number of averages so you do not average out the effect of fast load changes.
    3) try a few numbers and note when the noise floor appears stable.  This may be the best method to choose the number.
    4) how often do you want a result?  A smaller number of averages will produce an "averae complete" result more often.
    Use the averages complete boolean to gate passing on the results (to the user interface, file, further analysis, etc.).  With restart averaging on, it will restart another averaging process and toggle the boolean (gate).
    Hope this helps.

  • LMS - log rotation based on time period

    Dear All
    can we configure log rotation to be based on time period (ex:past one year)instead of log file size.
    if it is feasable please advise who to do it?
    Regards;
    Antonio

    I am not sure if I understand it correct, but you can do this easily by defining the expected file size of the log file to rotate;
    logrot runs on a scheduled basis and checks if the log file has reached the defined file size - if not it will do nothing else the file will be backed up. The key point is the configured file size;
    I use this for the syslog file to have a backup for each month:
        schedule logrot to run every first of each month and set the file size to a low value guarantes that I ve got a file for every month;
    from the online help of logrot:
    http://:1741/help/cmf/index.html?sysad_adm_logrotate.html
    4. Specify the number of archive revisions. If you do not want to keep any archives, enter 0 (the default) for this option.
    5. Specify the maximum file size. The log will not be rotated until this size is reached. The unit is in kilobytes (KB). The default is 1024 KB or 1 MB.
    why do you want to keep all log messages of a complete year in one file - what do you want to do?

  • How can I run the report for different input values at the same time?

    Reports version: Report Builder 6.0.8.13.1
    Oracle version: Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.0.0
    I want to run the same report for different input parameter values and spool each o/p to different file and ftp to a server. For this, as a first step, I am spooling different input values in to a file, reading those values through a loop and calling the report for that input values. Each report run/execution is taking 15 minutes. Total report execution is taking approximately 4 hours (assuming 16 different input values) to complete. So I have to wait 4 hours to see ALL outputs.
    I would like to run the report parallel for ALL the input values and I should be able to see the ALL outputs with in 15 or 16 minutes.
    In my shell script, I added & symbol at the end of the report call to start/run the job in the background. Due to this the control passed to the next step after the report call. At this place I have an ftp command to send the output file to a different server and it is giving error some thing like “o/p file is not available/created yet". This is due to the fact that report writer is NOT yet completely started/initiated or it is NOT completed the spooling.
    How can I run the report at the same time for all the input values and save the time?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kishore.

    Increase the number of server engines running right now it seems there is only one engine running ,increase it to 4 or 6
    and then atleast 4 or 6 reports will run simultaneously.
    For FTPing the output add to your sript to check whether it is locked and if not then only try to ftp .
    Also for more better functionality read the document (chapter 15 ) for 10g reports for its new fuinctionality.

  • Assigning a number value to a line from file without array

    How do you assign a number value to a line from a file? I want to use the assigned number so that the i can use random number to randomly select a line
    Example. i have the lines A,B,C,D,E
    A
    B
    C
    D
    E
    i know that a is line 1 b is line 2 so on so on
    (1) A
    (2)B
    (3)C
    (4)D
    (5)E
    so from here i would use the random number generator so that i could randomly select one of these. I already know how to code for the number generator but how would i make it so that i can access each individual line as a number?

    ya that's what im using but reguarding the code i dont think it does what im looking for. yes it does provide a random line but wen i run it multiple times it gives me the same line repeatedly. also i need to be able to refer to that line in the future so in the code the String line gets replaced each time
    BufferedReader bF = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("someFilePath"));
              String line;
              int someRandomNumber = 9;
              int counter = 0;
              while ((line = bF.readLine()) != null){
                   if (counter == someRandomNumber){
                        break;
                   counter++;
              System.out.println(line); //line at #someRandomNumber in the file

    The more I look at your program, the less I understand it.
    Why are you setting number = number in a case if SO2 = ""? number always equals number.
    In your sequence frames 1 and 4, you have no control over which write (date or time) happens first. Just placing one function to the left of another doesn't make it happen first if your wiring doesn't create data dependency. Review the section on Data Dependency in chapter 5 of the LabView User's Manual.
    It looks you're writing to and reading from the same file using Write File and Read Lines from File.vi. Why read back data you just wrote? You have the data on your diagram. If you want to convert it from string to numeric, use a Sring/Number Conversion function from the String palette.
    On Read Lines from File.vi (which I'm not sure you even need), you should use a shift register for the start of read offset rather than a local variable for mark after read (chars.). With a shift register, you can initialize it to 0 when the VI starts. Using a local, if you restart the VI, it will try to startup from where you left off the last time, but you just opened the file for create or replace.
    In your sequence frames 2 and 3, why do you wait for the number to be less than the numeric before writing a carriage return to the file? Also, LabView has a End of Line constant which adapts to the expected value for the operating system. That's generally more flexible than a Carriage Return.
    It looks to me like you're overusing control refnums. You don't need to use a control refnum and a property node to set or read a control's value if you can wire directly to the control's terminal.
    I really don't understand what you're doing with pause and variants. I may be missing the point, but it looks like you made this much more complicated than it needs to be. Why not keep it a boolean?
    For your pause-path, you open the file but never close it. You can lose data that way. You also open it using open function 3, create new file. You'll get an error if the file already exists.
    On a general note, your diagram would be easier to read if you were more selective in how you routed your wires: you have wires on top of wires, wires running under sub-VIs, wires running in the frame of a while loop, wires running under labels.
    I think there's a temptation to overuse sequences. I don't think you need one here. As I mentioned in my earlier message, case structures and shift registers will be more useful to you.

  • How to run a script based on time/action?

    Hi,
    I am using UNIX operating system.I need to execute a script if particular table got updated to certain value.
    Details:
    1.Consider Table A has column B.
    2.If column B has value = sysdate,then I need to do @ Path/filename.sql;
    3.I will not know,what time column B will be update to sysdate.
    How to do that in UNIX?Please share your thoughts....
    Thanks
    Aravindh

    I can't use a procedure to do that actionWhy you couldn't ? See Inputting and Outputting Data with PL/SQL
    But I'm not sure that's a good design to do this on an update. How often the update is occured on table A col B ? Do you want to create a file each time ? I would understand based on time (see DBMS_SCHEDULER) but on a column value... that seems strange to me.
    Nicolas.

    Hi Rod
    I rarely use Desktop and neither do my customers, unless they are on versions of Discoverer prior to 10.1.2. Time and time again I have taught 10.1.2 Plus / Viewer to dyed in the wool Desktopees to finish the course for them to say that they are never going to use Desktop again.
    One of the many issues with Desktop is the caching and even though it can do some things that Plus cannot, the many features in Plus that don't exist in Desktop far outweight them.
    What do you think? Do you still see a use for Desktop?
    How about everyone else? I would love to hear from you.

    Jim, I could reproduce and see the error, no change columns order.
    You can use the Marwim script's and, on the data grid, select the column DATE, delete value and commit.
    On the data grid, select the column var, delete value and commit.
    On the data grid, select the column num, delete value and commit -> get error.

  • Assign a number value to an mc

    hi everyone,
    so a while back I asked if it was possible to assign a number value to an mc. So I'm done my early work on it and am ready to try and integrate this function. I'll explain what I'm trying to do and I hope someone can point me in the right direction.
    I'm making a small change game. So game is split into five scenes, each scene the person will receive a receipt. The person will have change in their hand (all canadian denominations). They have to look at the receipt and the change in their hand (both mcs), and figure out if its correct. If not they drag change from another pile and place it in the hand. So here's what I'm looking at trying to accomplish. I'd like to have a check change button (simple mc). I'm guessing that each coin needs a numeric value associated with it (no clue on if or how you could do this). If the numbers add up to the predetermined bill value (so I'm guessing I'd give that a numeric value as well), i hit the check button and it'll see if the change in the hand adds up to match what the bill should. So here's where my code sits currently, still tweaking as we speak. I'm still new so be gentle on my code I know its long. If anyone knows any house keeping tips that'd be great!

  • Insert a value of type Date/Time into a database

    I am trying to insert a value of type date time into an access database. What is the format needed to insert the date/time.
    Thanks,
    -Amos

    I had all kinds of problems getting a datetime inserted into a SQl Server DB. Probably similar so this is what I do:
    String date = new String("01/01/97 12:00:00");
    stmt.setObject(1, date);
    I tried using TimeStamp's but found I got an occasional Fractional Truncation exception back from the driver. Never had a problem inserting a String using the setObject() method though.
    Hope this helps
