NumberFormat.getCurrencyInstance(Locale l) does not work

Hi everybody!
I got stuck on very simple thing. I'm working on jdk 1.3. For some reason I can't use 1.4 currently. Anyway it should not matter.
I have small class for converting numeric (just integral very simple strings from flat database):
import java.text.*;
import java.util.*;
public class Price extends AbstractDataObject{
private Locale locale;
private String value;
//private NumberFormat format;
  public Price(String value) {
      this(value, Locale.US);
  public Price(String value, Locale locale) {
       this.value = value;
       this.locale = locale;
public Object getData() {
          return new BigDecimal(value).setScale(2, BigDecimal.ROUND_HALF_UP);
     public String toString() {
          String result = "";
          NumberFormat format = NumberFormat.getCurrencyInstance(locale);
          double val = ((BigDecimal)getData()).doubleValue();
           result = format.format(val);
             return new String(result);//(format.format(val));
         public  String getLocale(){//for debugging
          return locale.toString();
}In other class I call:
AbstractDataObject d8 = AbstractDataObject.getInstance("Price", "126767", Locale.GERMANY);
System.out.println("Price " + d8.toString());
     System.out.println("Locale" + " " + ((Price)d8).getLocale());And get:
Price $126,767.00
Locale en_US
What gives?

Hi, thanks, I screwd in method chaining. Somewhere here:
         return getInstance(fieldName, value, Locale.US);
   public static final AbstractDataObject getInstance
                             (String fieldName, String value, Locale locale) {//, Locale locale) {
        return getInstance(fieldName, value, locale, DISPLAY_DEFAULT);
  public static AbstractDataObject getInstance
                               (String fieldName, String value, Locale locale, int cur) {...I fixed it already. Actually I refactored everything.
