NWDS BPM Notification - Variable Type

Hi NWDS BPM Experts,
I'm creating an email notification and I need to send a table in the message body.  When I create a variable, the variable type in automatically set to string.  Based on SAP Help I should be able to change the variable type but the dropdown is not abailable, I cannot change the type.  Would you have an idea how to do this?
Sap help:
pecify the E-mail Subject and Text
When you specify the subject and text of the e-mail, you can optionally use variables to provide them with dynamic content from the process context.
1. In the Properties view of the notification, open the Mail tab page.
2. Specify the necessary text in the Subject and Message fields under Parameterized Texts .
3. (Optional) Choose the Add pushbutton under Variables to add a variable.
The system automatically fills in values in the Name and Type fields, which you can edit. You define an expression with the expression editor.
4. Select the value in the Name field to rename the variable.
Caution
You can only use the letters A-Z, the numerals 0-9, and an underscore (_) in the variable name.
5. Select a type of the variable from the Type dropdown menu if you want to change the type that was filled in automatically.
You must set a type before you create an expression.
6. Choose the Edit... pushbutton to define an expression in the expression editor. Choose the OK pushbutton.
Rgds,
Yves

To add more details about what I'm trying to do, I want to add all records of a table data container as part of the body of the message.  So not sure how to do this.

Yves

  • Use of BinaryData variable type in the BPM

First of all, please forgive me if I am being stupid, but...
How do I load my data into a BinaryData variable type within the BPM studio.
I can create a variable of type BinaryData but I cannot find any mention of how
to load it with the data, nor any appropriate function!
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
I have gone into transaction f.01 and am unable to find the component Transaction type in dynamic selections. If however you want to find Transacttion type 120 use transaction SE16n and table ANEKPV add in the transaction types (technical name BWASL) add other parameters example company code, period etc to get the related information.
    Award points if useful.

  • How to Access a BPM container variable in XI graphical  message mapping

Hello XI BPM and Mapping experts,
is it possible to access a BPM container variable from an graphical mapping?
    If yes, how ?
We need this for the following scenario:
    IDOC to BPM.
BPM  transforms and sends transformed IDOC to fileadapter
If both steps are successful  a STATUS.SYSTAT01 IDOC should be send back to SAP-ISU with status 06.
If one of these steps fails  the status in the SYSTAT01 should be set to 05. (Exception branch of block)
We want to avoid to write 2 mapping programs for mapping the SYSTAT01.
Instead we would like to use a BPM Container Variable which contains the status.
In the mapping for the SYSTAT01 we want to use this Container Variable.
    Is this possible?
    Thanks for soon answers.
    Regards Marlies

    Hi Marlies,
Is not possible to acces a BPM container variable from graphical mapping. For other hand, you can to use runtime variables for this purpose.
You could create an abstract interface with a message type having a single node with the required value and using this message in other mapping.

  • Accessing a BPM Container Variable Inside A Mapping

    Hi
Is It possible to access a BPM container variable (Simple type say a String )in a Mapping (message mapping). This mapping  is present in the same BPM itself. Is it possible to access the variable in the mapping.
My basic objective is i need to read and update values between My message mapping and Bpm container simple type variable. I read a value  from BPM variable and then update this variable and again write it back to the BPM container variable and then again read it in a loop . Is it possible to do this exchange.

    Hi,
The only way is to do with mapping. Totally you need to add your conatiner values into message and then thru mapping you can access.
    Using Container Operation-Append

  • Notification Variable BRF+ Rule

Hello, has anyone ever created a custom BRF+ Notification Variable Rule?
We would like to create a custom notification that gets sent if a request contains a business role with a specific (technical role) connector.
I’ve defined a rule with the “Notification Variable Rules” type:
I was then going to use the data element “connector” below along with the “TEMPLATE_ID as the results. Note- I will create a custom template for this which will be added to stage 4 of the MSMP. After that I would plan to add the rule into MSMP stage 2.
    A few questions:
    1) Does anyone know if my decision table logic is correct?
    2) Will the custom notification rule contain the proper notification events needed e.g. “End_OF REQUEST”?  If not how are those added to the custom rule?
    3) If the notification events aren’t in the custom rule how is the notification kicked off?
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Kyle

    Hi Sahil.
For line item key you have to select always ITEMNUM from the context parameter as it checks each line items in your access request and return the results.
You can find lot of BRF+ related documents in SCN/Wiki check the below one for Initiator rule.

  • Variable type Hierarchy, how to get the value from another similar variable

    Hi.
We have created a variable, type hierarchy (using ORGEH hierarchy in HR based on 0ORGUNIT). Let's call this VAR1. We want to fill this with an User Exit, beacuse we want VAR1 to have the value from another variable, VAR2, which is also type hierarchy (and based on the same characteristic).
However, when we program this user exit and use the VAR1 afterwards, it just behaves as if we have a single characteristic value and not a node value. As a result, we just get posts which do have the 'parent itself' as characteristic value, and none of the subnodes...  Any hints as to what we can do in our User exit to get the value passed over from VAR2 to VAR1 as a node value? Is there any spesific syntax to be used here that we are missing? ( The VAR1 and VAR2 are both defined as hierarchy variables, we have double checked...).

    Hi,
are you on BI7.0? There you can create variables type replacement path and get the value out from a different variable without any coding.
    regards

    1) filename of type as "Historize"
    2) id of type as "Historize"
    I have 2 Models -
    1) One is based on FIle Technology with resource name as #CUSTOMER.filename (dynamic filename) (TARGET)
    2) second is based on Oracle technology which contains two relational tables (SOURCE)

  • Notification Assignment Type Issue - SAP Work Manager 6.0

    Hello Experts,
We are not able to download notifications on the device for header level work center that is assignment type = 5.
We have done the below configuration.
    - added the user parameter for work center in user profile.
    - changed assignment type to 5 in Notification MDO.
Same configuration is working properly in case of work orders only change is assignment type set to 8 and changed in client global value Wo.AssignmentType to 8.
There is no configuration guide available which explains notification assignment types in SAP Work Manager 6.0.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
In the notification MDO data filter, you also need to add a filter to the WORK_CNTR field. It should be user parameter type, with value "VAP".
Also, from memory, I had to disable some other filters that were set out of the box. These were filtering out my data.
    Hope that helps

  • How to define the "tab" ,"enter" character in a variable(type c)

I want to use the define the "tab" key and
    "enter" key in a variable(type c),
But I don't know how to write it :
    for example:
    data: a1 type c(1).
    data: a2 type c(1).
    a1 = ?. " the tab key
    a2 = ?. " the enter key

Hi, i think joseph fryda gave you the one solution.
In the server which doesn't support CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES, here is another solution.
    data:
        C_X1                  TYPE X VALUE '0D',
        C_X2                  TYPE X VALUE '0A',
        C_X3                  TYPE X VALUE '09',
        LC_ENTER(2)           TYPE C,
        LC_TAB                TYPE C.
    enter key
    CONCATENATE C_X1 C_X2 INTO LC_ENTER.
    TAB key
    LC_TAB = C_X3.

  • BPM notifications

Hi,I have a bpm process with two swimlanes roles.First user at first swimlane submit the form for approval by the user at second swim lane.My problem is that when first user submit the form a notification should go to second user in next swimlane. How to achieve that i have done the configuration but not working. Please provide help on this.
    Thanks

Why don't you configure an "Assign" notification in the next activity to send a mail to all Assignees? You can configure the User Messaging service to the mail to the user based upon the mail attribute in their user profile.
Configure user messaging - BPM notifications
Configure human workflow notification properties - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12839_01/integration.1111/e10226/hwf_config.htm#BHCJDGFJ

  • How to define new variable types in BPEL?

Is there a way to define a new variable type directly in BPEL, without modifying any of the WSDL files used by Partnerlinks?
Or to import an XSD with variable definitions?

It depends on what you want to use the variable for. You may not need to do it yourself. Let's assume you have a main wsdl for your service that you can't change but it has the inputs and outputs already defined.
In the middle you want to grab the input and shove it into a database table. You can create a new partner link. Rright click in the swim lanes on the BPEL page and pick the little database icon. Go through the steps to link to the db via an insert or package. You will need a db connection to do this.
jdeveloper will create the partner link wsdl and schema for you to match the table or the ins/outs of the package/procedure automatically.
Then drag an invoke onto the page and pull the arrow to your new partner link. Use the magic wand on the invoke screen to create the input/output variables.
Then you can use a transformation or assign/copy to pull the data from the input message variable of the main wsdl into the input variable of your database wsdl.
Or your situation may not be that complicated...if you click the little (X) on the edge of the box on the BPEL screen you can go through a picking process.

  • Use of variable types and rounding...

I'm kinda confused on what variable types to use. I want it so that when I divide two numbers, it'll either round up or down, and give me a rounded number w/o a decimal.
    Examples...
    184/2683=7
    164/2683=6
I have been fiddling with it for a while now, and I keep getting rounded down numbers, even if the decinal is more than .5. Thanks in advance!

    184 / 2683 = 0.068579947819604919865821841222512 -> 0.07
    164 / 2683 = 0.061125605665300037271710771524413 -> 0.06
Use Math.rint (please read the javadocs...) and some scaling (multiply by 100.00, divide by 100.0 etc).
Beware - when printing your result could be:
    0.070000000000001
    or
    0.069999999999998
instead of the expected value 0.07
for instance, due to the properties of floating-point arithmetic. If you want to round the number only for displaying it, use java.text.DecimalFormat or java.text.MessageFormat.

  • Material Document field to be added  in the Quality Notification F3 type

    Hello Experts,
i have to add Material Document field in the Quality Notification (F3 type --Material rel. defect ) through
    T-code QM01.
    Please help me out.
    thanks

    Hi
IMG-->QM>Quality notifications->Notification Creation->Define Screen Templates--> Define Initial Screens--> select F3 here and enter QM03_CREATE_QMEL_WITH_WINDOW in the column Name of the function module and enter 0100 in the  initial screen column., save it.
If you wish to make material document field mandatory, then go to
IMG-->QM>Quality notifications->Notification Creation->Define Screen Templates--> Field Selection: Initial Screens--> select the radio button as REQ for the field RQM01-MBLNR that is for material doc.
Similarly for in the above menu you can make mandatory for reference object screen also
IMG-->QM>Quality notifications->Notification Creation->Define Screen Templates--> Field Selection: Reference Object Screens--> select the radio button as REQ for the field RQM01-MBLNR that is for material doc.
Now, once you finish this , go and try QM01 you will find the POP for Material document entry coming immediately if you pres the Notification button for F3 Notification type.

  • Documentation about variable types & their processing in i_step = 1, 2 etc.

    Hello experts,
is there any documentation about variable types and their processing in i_step = 1, 2 etc.? I know there is note 492504 "Dependent customer exit-type variables", but I don't understand, whether a variable which is NOT "Ready for input" will be processed in i_step = 1 or not  (quote of SAP library: "i_step = 1: Call takes place directly before variable entry."). I experienced coincidentally, that some variables not "Ready for input" will be processed there and some not.
Furthermore it is an error, isn't it? Why has a variable without input possibility to be processed before input? Is this really the case?
    Confused, any hints are welcomed!
    Regards M.L.

    for I_STEP = 1
Call before the variable screen .
    for I_STEP = 2
Call after variable entry. This step is only started up when the same variable is not input ready and could not be filled at I_STEP=1.
    for I_STEP = 3
In this call, you can check the values of the variables. Triggering an exception (RAISE) causes the variable screen to appear once more. Afterwards, I_STEP=2 is also called again.
    for I_STEP = 0
The enhancement is not called from the variable screen. The call can come from the authorization check or from the Monitor.
There is a good HOW to Guide which explains the importance of I_STEP :
