Notification Variable BRF+ Rule

Hello, has anyone ever created a custom BRF+ Notification Variable Rule?
We would like to create a custom notification that gets sent if a request contains a business role with a specific (technical role) connector.
I’ve defined a rule with the “Notification Variable Rules” type:
I was then going to use the data element “connector” below along with the “TEMPLATE_ID as the results. Note- I will create a custom template for this which will be added to stage 4 of the MSMP. After that I would plan to add the rule into MSMP stage 2.
A few questions:
1) Does anyone know if my decision table logic is correct?
2) Will the custom notification rule contain the proper notification events needed e.g. “End_OF REQUEST”? If not how are those added to the custom rule?
3) If the notification events aren’t in the custom rule how is the notification kicked off?

Hi Sahil.
For line item key you have to select always ITEMNUM from the context parameter as it checks each line items in your access request and return the results.

GRC10- HR Trigger BRF+ rule error

Hi,
We are facing an error in HR trigger. The BRF+ is configured as per the note Note 1591291 - GRC 10.0 - HR Trigger configuration.
The BRF+ rule has decision table which satisfies the condition for new hire. The infotype: 0105 and subtype: 0001
After the new hire event the trigger is activated in GRC system but the log gives a following error Message:
Error occurred during the processing of Rule 'Rule_1'
Error occurred during the processing of Loop 'Loop_1'
Error occurred during the processing of Rule 'Rule_2'
Error occurred during the processing of Decision Table 'Decision_Table_HR'
No match found for the given context (DECISION_TABLE_HR)
Rules are not satisfied for Employee ID 00000019
The rules configured are as per the SAP guide.
1. How do you analyze the error in the BRF+ rules
2. Have anyone come across similar situation

I am also getting the same error. I have configured the decision table exactly as per the SAP note, and even simplified my rules to only include the CREATE function.
My SLG1 log picks up the same error.
Did you find a fix for this on your side ?

How to use variable in rule script in HFM

I'm now writing VB script for HFM rule, and have something to ask about the use of variables in rule.
The script below generates the following error.
-Error description-
Line: 4, Error: Invalid Expression
HS.Exp "S#Actual.A#77300.I#[ICP None] = cur"
An error has occurred in Hyperion Financial Management.
-Rule script-
Sub Allocate()
Dim cur
cur = 500
HS.Exp "S#Actual.A#77300.I#[ICP None] = cur"
End Sub
On the other hand, the script below works properly.
-Rule script-
Sub Allocate()
HS.Exp "S#Actual.A#77300.I#[ICP None] = 500"
End Sub
Probably I'm not using variables in proper way, but have no idea how to correct it.
Does anyone have any idea?

try this in the sub calculate:
HS.Exp "S#Actual.A#77300.I#[ICP None]=" & cur
For the sub allocate, I suppose that you do not have the issue because the allocate is not launch during the consolidation process. Allocate is launched separatly by a right click, and can only be done when calculation status = "OK", which means that all calculation have been done (that could not be the case if you have an error like this in sub calculate).

Notification variables

Hi experts.
I created personalized notification message with standar variables, but when sending the e-mails varibles does not convert to any data.
Message configuration:
La solicitud de %REQUEST_TYPE% número: %REQNO% ha sido creada para el rol %ROLE_NAME%.

Example of the mail received:

Are you attempting this customization in GRC 10 or 5.3?
The format of your message template appears to be correct so it is not immediately clear what the issue may be. If this is version 10, a few things to maybe double-check
-Are all the notification variables you are attempting to use associated with the workflow process ID this message is for? You could check this in the MSMP workflow setup. The variables are found in stage 4.
-When you created the new message via SE61 did you save and activate the new message? The save & activate button is different than just the save button
-Maybe try adding an extra space before & after the % characters? I've noticed sometimes when creating a new modification via SE61 the spacing characters in the actual emailed message don't align to how the spacing appears when editing the message. I think this has something to do with how the modification overlays the original message. Maybe spacing could cause the variables to be not interpreted by GRC.
Again... the template you've shown looks correct. I hope you can figure out what is causing the issue

GRC 10 - SSO via Portal - how to redirect url in notification variables

Dears,
I am in the process of designing our GRC 10 machine to be accessed via SSO in the Enterprise Portal. Yet I cannot find any info on what will happen with the URLs that are placed by ARM MSMP workflow in the variables of notifications/approvals.
I typically would (as in 5.3) expect a redirect URL to be made available as an option.
As an example: the Firefighter Log notification standard holds a variable pointing the URL to :
http://GRC10server:GRC10port/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/grac_ui_spm_log_email?sap-client=001&sap-language=EN&WF_ID=53FB8FEAC9E260D6E10000000AF90C44&APP_TYPE=1
Yet now with SSO via the portal we also want this URL to go via the portal instead of directly to the GRC machine. How can we achieve that?
Is there a configuration way to have GRC10server:GRC10port adjusted to the portal address..
(mind that the WF_ID segment in this url is dynamically generated, so directly sqeezing in a static portal url is not an option)

Hi Neeraj,
Thx for your reaction. This unfortunately will not do the job as pasting the URL in the notification template will make it static. The problem is that the URL inserted by default is a dynamically created one which holds a variable pointer to a workflow object id.
Now i am researching if a custom build portal redirect application will do the job. But there must be others having the same problem if you want the GRC iview in the portal to be the 'one-stop-shop' for your GRC users...

Using environment variable in rule file

Hi,
I want to datacopy from one cube (scenario Forecast) to another (scenario FcstJan, FcstFeb, and so on) based on which month is running currently. I want to use environment variable in the rule file. The Forecast data will be extracted in .txt and will be imported to the second cube in FcstJan if current month is Jan and same for Feb, Mar..... The CurrentMth will be my env variable.
Can anyone please let me know how I can use that variable in the rule file. Or, if there is any other way to load the same.

You could just set a substitution variable and then use the substitution variable in the header of the rule.

Substituion Variables in Rules File as data source

Hey all,
This is a continuation of a previous post of mine. I have set some substitution variables to be all apps, all dbs, but when I got into the Rules File-File-Open SQL, it doesn't give me any substitution variables to select (greyed out), I have a few of which the SQL_SOURCE is one.
Other DBs on the same server, same application are OK.

I did a quick test relevant to your post.
What I noticed is- In the drop down, I'm able to see only those Substitution variables(i.e. Data Sources) which are created as DSNs on the Server where EAS is installed.
In other words, I've done the below:
a) Created a DSN, SQL_Source_DSN+
b) Created a substitution variable, sv_DSN whose value is- SQL_Source_DSN+ & assigned to all apps. & dbs.
c) From the Data Prep Editor, when I say- Open SQL, I'm able to see & use- SQL_Source_DSN+

User variable in rule set

Hi,
I have created a ruleset where five rules are there, each of them is using entity as a run time prompt. My requirement is when I run the ruleset, I will select the entity/entities and the whole ruleset (i.e, 5 rules) will run at one go.
Currently, in the RTP window, I can see 5 entity selection options (5 text boxes alongwith 5 find options alongside) where I am giving same value 5 times to run the ruleset on a specific entity member. Is it possible to have only one entity selection option so that it would be more user friendly?

I know there are variables such as:

Is there any variable for computer name of the alert?

You can use source: $Data[Default='Not Present']/Context/DataItem/ManagedEntityDisplayName$ or path: $Data/Context/DataItem/ManagedEntityPath$

NWDS BPM Notification - Variable Type

I'm creating an email notification and I need to send a table in the message body. When I create a variable, the variable type in automatically set to string. Based on SAP Help I should be able to change the variable type but the dropdown is not abailable, I cannot change the type. Would you have an idea how to do this?

When you specify the subject and text of the e-mail, you can optionally use variables to provide them with dynamic content from the process context.
1. In the Properties view of the notification, open the Mail tab page.
2. Specify the necessary text in the Subject and Message fields under Parameterized Texts .
3. (Optional) Choose the Add pushbutton under Variables to add a variable.
The system automatically fills in values in the Name and Type fields, which you can edit. You define an expression with the expression editor.
4. Select the value in the Name field to rename the variable.
Caution
You can only use the letters A-Z, the numerals 0-9, and an underscore (_) in the variable name.
5. Select a type of the variable from the Type dropdown menu if you want to change the type that was filled in automatically.
You must set a type before you create an expression.
6. Choose the Edit... pushbutton to define an expression in the expression editor. Choose the OK pushbutton.

Cross entity BRF rules to update table UI elements

Hello , I am trying to write a derivation using a cross entity rule that will update table UI element value. I have about 50 different rules to be created. Rule Example : Based on material type, derive the value of Sales organization and Plant.
I have the cross entity BADI implemented. I am able to achieve the cross entity derivation for single elements, but anything in table, I am not able to get those updated.
Please advice.

Great that it works. However, you talk about cross-entity and BRF+. These are two different things and I'm afraid you are confusing them. Using the standard BRF+ derivation rules, you can't derive keys of entities. So, you can't default a plant for a given material type using the BRF+ derivation function.
