Adjust the max number of listener processes in listener config,
it defaults to 500 set down to around 200.

  • OAS 4.0.8.1 Performance - Redhat 6.1

I have noticed a few comments from other members of technet regarding Linux-based OAS performance.
I, too, have notice considerable lag times in web/admin requests (as compared to an NT install on a similar box).
As well, the java applet takes FOREVER to appear (and sometimes it just sits in an "applet initialized" state) as compared to my existing NT install.
    Any comments?
    matt

I have gotten just as far on RH6.0 Kernel 2.2.5-15. However when I start everything with owsctl start I see messages to the effect that "thread display not implemented".
Could this be related to the thread notes in the installation or is it the max processes exceeded kernel configuration issues.
Please email me at [email protected] if you have the answer and I will post it back here.
    Thank you in advance

  • OAS 10.1.2 / chgiphost / EM-Console doesn't start after change of hostname

    Hello!
I changed on my OAS 10.1.2 ip-address and hostname with script /$ORACLE_HOME/chgip/chgiphost.sh -mid.
But I can't start em-console and get the following error in em-application.log:
Portal Configuration Interface failed to initialise:
    oracle.sysman.emSDK.emd.comm.CommException: IOException in sending Request :: newHostname.domain:cn=oldHostname.domain...
    It seem's that chgiphost.sh script doesn't change em-console configuration.
    Any ideas?
    regards
    Harald.

    Solution:
I secured Enterprise Mangager (HTTPS, emctl secure...).
    First, I must unsecure EM-Console, run "chgiphost.sh -mid" and then re-secure EM-Console.
Look at: Metalink - Note 280034.1 How to Secure and Unsecure the AS Control 10g Console
    regards
    Harald.

    Hi !!!
I installed OAS 4.0.8.1 on Windows NT Server 4.0 with Service Pack 5 (June 1999).
I have a Oracle Database installed at the same machine (8.0.4 EE) because I installed OAS at other ORACLE_HOME. I follow the steps (workaround) showed at the document "Latest Oracle Application Server Release Notes. January 2000".
Hence, I created other user administrator for OAS and I put the entries for OAS at the User Path for this admin.
The system Path contains the entries for the database.
But, when I try to raise the process from OAS Manager, it happends the next:
Please wait while the command is being processed on host vnt05 ...

  • CRS on Redhat 5 auto-start problem

    Dear all
Recently I tried to install Oracle 10gR2 on Redhat 5. I did research and took all the necessary actions to install it on Redhat. Everything went well, according to the documents and at the end of the installation, all the resources were up and running. However, after the install, only the VIP was up and ONS and GSD was in unknown format. When I stop the nodeapps and start it again, everything stars working. It seems that the problem is something to do with boot process. I tried to put some delay ( for OCR mount ) but still no luck. This is the result from crsd.log from node1 when node2 is down.. :

CRS on RHEL 5.5 auto-start problem
    hi all
Recently I install RAC Oracle 10gR2 on Red hat RHEL 5.5. “Two node cluster, iscsi storage, ocfs2 mounted files & ASM ”
I did research and took all the necessary actions to install it on Red hat. Everything went well, according to the documents and at the end of the installation, all the resources were up and running. However, after the install, only the VIP was up and ONS and GSD ,ASM and the other services was in unknown state. When I stop the CRS & start it –all again, everything stars working. Please friends I need to fix this problem because the cluster services and the client workstation are stopping when the servicers is relocated to node 1 after the server reboot because the CRS did not worked still on node and manual starting is taking time.
This is the result from crsd.log from node1 when node is online .

    下面是METALINK给出的解释:
I have checked the information provided. crsd is reporting timeouts when running the checking actions. The racgmain process on the other hand, executed by racgwrap, remain running so the number is increasing. This issue has been reported in Bug 7009245 ""RACGMAIN CHECK" PROCESS NOT TERMINATING", and drill down and determine the root cause this require to get a stack trace from racgmain process(es) as well as you should runOSWatcher with a specific parameters, finally the issue of Bug 7009245 has been fixed by the fix of Bug 6196746 (unpublished bug -- summary is "racgwrap spawns racgmain child process. crsd timeout kills racgwrap but bot racgmain")So please perform the following action plan that intend to solve the issue.
    .ACTION PLAN
    ============
    1. Stop CRS on this node.
    2. Make a copy of racgwrap located under $ORACLE_HOME/bin and $CRS_HOME/bin
    3. Edit the file racgwrap and modify the last 3 lines from:
    .$ORACLE_HOME/bin/racgmain "$@"
    status=$?
    exit $status
    .to:
.# Line added to test fix for Bug 6196746
    exec $ORACLE_HOME/bin/racgmain "$@"
.4. Restart CRS and make sure that all the resources are startes
This should solve the issue. also if you are not able to stop CRS right now, you can try the
    solution without crs stop/start.

We had the same problem with the PL/SQL cartridge (OWS-04764 ...). We solved our problem with a new kernel. Its important that you have a kernel with symmetric multi-processing support (SMP) enabled, independent if you have a one or two processor machine.
I hope it will help you.

  • OAS 4.0.8.1/Redhat 6.2? WRKSF problem

Hi, I've installed OAS 4.0.8.1 on Redhat 6.2 but when I start the processes up the WRKSF goes down after a few seconds, I've seen a previous posting on this subject had a workaround proposed by Dennis Irwin which seemed to work for many people, unfortunately it didn't for me, I've spoken to Oracle about this problem but all they say is OAS 4.0.8.1 isn't supported for the 2.2.14 kernel in Redhat 6.2, 4.0.8.2 will be but they can't say when it will be released, until then OAS is basically useless for me, has anyone any suggestions?. Thanks, Geoff
    null

According to ORACLE representatives, OAS 4.0.8 isn't their major priority : since Oracle iAS will be available in few days, and many less CPY and memory hungry as OAS, can't you wait a bit longer ?
An other point is that oas 4.0.8.2 will probably be one on their last release of this product ...
Take a look at the oracle iAS white paper, the product will be more reliable and standard : essentialy based on Apache 1.3.12, mod_java, mod_pl and JServ 1.1, and Oracle 8i Cache...

That problem was solved by changing ps utility

I get time-out error, when I try to call any PL/SQL URL

Then used listener (admin or www) don't worked, and

    Does environment variable ORAWEB_NAMEROOT any

    Hi,
i have the same problem in SuSE 6.2.
The oracle hotline told me that OAS407 is only certified and
supported ageinst linux kernel 2.0.34. My SuSE distribution
has 2.2.10. So OAS407 doesn't work. But my oracle 8i on the same

  • OAS 4.0.8.1 + Apache web listener

    Help!
I'm not having all the problems running OAS 4.0.8.1 on Redhat 6.1 that everyone else is (my processes stay up and it's significantly faster than 4.0.7.1 on RH 5.2). But what I'd really like to do is dump Oracle's Spyglass web listeners and run Apache instead. This includes all cartridges and such as well as standard HTML. I'm mostly interested in the PL/SQL cartridge, but all working would be nice.
This can be done by compiling Apache specially with MOD_SO support and registering Apache as a listener. The very sketchy directions are in the docs under the Administration section. The directions are very poor (thank you again Oracle, we wouldn't want you to actually write good docs, it would spoil us for the years of terrible documentation) and I can't quite get it to work. I get Apache compiled and the shared objects libraries load, I think.
When I start Apache, it says it starts but it really doesn't. Dies immediately and doesn't show up on the process list. The error logs shows the following message:
(111)Connection refused: OAS Adapter: Error connecting to dispatcher
This is a major issue for me and any help would be appreciated. Anyone had any luck getting this to work?
    Thanks!

    Dear jgerry,
Congrats on getting Apache compiled. I am new to all of this, and the documentation is poor. The way I understand the documentation on www.olab.com, libapadp.so must be linked into Apache. Is this true? If so, I would love to know how to recompile it. I have downloaded and unzipped/untared 1.3.12, but I can't find out how to just link in a .so file. The only references I see are how to start out with a .c file. I have fould libapadp.so and ndwfapd.so in the Oracle install. I thought that just doing "LoadModule ows_module ndwfapd.so" would do the trick if I put ndwfapd.so and libapadp.so in the modules subdir of my Apache 1.3.9 installation, but I get the message...
"Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/ndwfapd.so into server: libapadp.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".
Do you have any ideas to help me over this hurdle.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • OAS 4.0.8.1 - more wrksf problems?

Running OAS 4.0.8.1 on Redhat 6.1 (kernel 2.2.14-32)
There seems to be alot of discussion regarding the "wrksf" service in the latest release of OAS (4.0.8.1). I'm also having trouble getting the "Cartridge Service Factory" to start properly.
I use the OAS manager to start, with the following results:
Please wait while the command is being processed on host dev ...

I get the same results if I attempt to start from the command line with owsctl:

I have used the OAS 4.0.7 on Redhat 5.2 successfully with very few problems, but we would like to be able to use OAS on Redhat 6.1.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, are there any know solutions or workarounds?

My experience with wrksf, on Mandrake 7.0 (RH 6.1+) is that wrksf starts at first, then bails after about a second.
I have a couple cartridges installed, C and Perl, and it starts those cartridges up and then fails. I don't get the same error message that you do, but there is an error in the wrb.log:
`OWS-10911: Throwing exception for reason: wrkpGetProperty 2 `
    `OWS-04793: Operation oracle_OAS_System_CartridgeServerFactory_create_nwreturns exception IDL:omg.org/CORBA/UNKNOWN:1.0 `
I'm not sure what this is all about, but it does start up my cartridges at first, because I specified a mininum number to start up initially, and a minimum number of instances.
They just don't come back if terminated, since wrksf isn't there.
BTW, this is the same error I encountered when, on NT, I compiled a c cartridge with Metroworks CodeWarrior instead of MS Visual C++ v6.0. So I wonder if this has something to do with compiler incompatibility, if wrksf was compiled with a different compiler from the rest of OAS. While compilers don't usually matter for C, they do for C++, and all binaries and libraries must be compiled with the same compiler/linker to work together.
Just a stab in the dark.

  • OAS 10.1.3 not responding after a day of work!!!

Hello everyone... I have a strange case. I have installed a 10.1.3 OAS in a linux server running RedHat ES 4.0 and deployed a java web app..
The thing is that the users connect to the web app. and work without problems all day long... BUT the next day, when they try to enter to the app. the browser times out the request and nobody can enter and use the app!!!, to solve this problem I just simply go to the server and restart the OAS and then everything goes back to normal... I installed this app. 4 days ago and the same thing repeats everyday.
The first thing I did was check the logs in $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs/opmn.log y $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs/OC4J~home~default_group~1 but I can't find any errors only a WARNING:
    WARNING: Code-source /u00/oracle/product/10.1.3/OracleAS_J2EE/j2ee/home/applications/masivo/masivo/WEB-INF/lib/classes12.jar (from WEB-INF/
lib/ directory in /u00/oracle/product/10.1.3/OracleAS_J2EE/j2ee/home/applications/masivo/masivo/WEB-INF/lib) has the same filename but is n
ot identical to /u00/oracle/product/10.1.3/OracleAS_J2EE/jdbc/lib/ojdbc14dms.jar (from <code-source> (ignore manifest Class-Path) in META-I
NF/boot.xml in /u00/oracle/product/10.1.3/OracleAS_J2EE/j2ee/home/oc4j.jar). If it contains different versions of the same classes, it will
be masked as the latter is already visible in the search path of loader masivo.web.masivo:0.0.0.
I am an OAS newbe and don't know what else to look for.
    Thanks for the help!!!
Ah, I have modified the opmn.xml file and changed the following line (for the start options):
    <data id="java-options" value="-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -XX:PermSize=1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=1024m -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote -server -Djava.security.policy=$ORACLE_HOME/j2ee/home/config/java2.policy -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dhttp.webdir.enable=false"/>

Oracle AS already have jdbc driver for oracle => you can delete file u00/oracle/product/10.1.3/OracleAS_J2EE/j2ee/home/applications/masivo/masivo/WEB-INF/lib/classes12.jar
PS: Runtime parameter PermSize may be to large.
I think you should change to
    -Xms512m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=128m

  • OAS 3.0.2 on Red Hat 6.0 Can't start WWW

I have installed OAS 3.0.2 on redhat 6.0 and can not get the WWW
listener to start. The admin listener starts and seems to work
fine. When I try to start the WWW listener I get the following
    error:
    ================================================================
    ---- WRB startup on "UDP:dax:2649" ----

Error: The server could not initialize
    Information: The server is exiting
OWS-08811: Unable to startup Oracle Web Listener `www'.

    Any help is appreciated, -Tom

    Another Solution:
For you to be able to start the your WWW listener on port 80
    just follow these steps:
1.) As an "oracle" user set the Following Environment Variable
    -ORATAB_FAIL TRUE
    -OWS_ORAWEB_FEEDOMX 1
2.) change to "root" account and execute "owsctl start www"(i.e.
if your web listener name is "www").
    Hope this help

  • Relinking error message in w/OAS 4.0.7 with RH6.0

Sorry I have to answer my own question.
When you install w/OAS 4.0 on RedHat 6.0,
you have to have the tcl-8.0.3-20 in place.
I had tcl-8.0.4-29, so this really made the
installer really up set. But, once I changed
to the lower version, it worked. There, I
    answered my own question.
