OBIEE 11.1.1.5 VirtualBox Image....

Hi,
I've downloaded the VirtualBox Image for OBIEE 11.1.1.5 - Sample Applications v107.
I have Windows 7 64 bit in one partition and Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition in another partition.
1. Which OS is good for installing this VirtulalBox Image?
2. When I install VirtualBox software, should I select the Networking features? I'm not sure if I need it since I will only be running this in my computer for evaluation and learning. It seems it will create network adapters and I don't want it to mess up other settings in my PC.
Thanks,
Z

Hi,
Thanks. I installed tje Virtual Box image on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 and it works fine.
But I want to install OBIEE 11.1.1.5 Client tools including the Admin tool on the host machine.
But I only see the 32 bit version of the client tool in OTN website.
I thought I would use the complete OBIEE package which is available for 64 bit windows and use the "Software Only" option.
But it seems it will install all the server software too and it requires Web Logic to be installed.
Is there 64 bit version of OBIEE 11.1.1.5 client tools available for download? I see it listed in certification matrix but cannot find the download file.

    Hei,
I don't know if it helps since it was posted long time ago but I'd suggest to use windows 7 (64 bit) since it the virtual box with the sample App seems to work quite well on it. Also I am not too sure what you mean with the network features but certainly the virtual box would create a network called Virtual Box Host but it doesn't mess up (change at all) your other network connections.

    Dear OTN,

    Hi there
I have a Technote that shows how the information can be published from EBS to BAM. In addition you could create an end to end visibility across the products e.g. B2B - BPEL - EBS - Financials etc by raising the events to BAM .
There is no out of the box dashboards available today. However, i have a number of customers who are doing this use case by themselves or through some SI/Oracle consulting.
can we contact you offline to discuss your requirement?
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/integration/bam/11g/technotes11g/whitepaperBAM_E-BusinessSuiteIntegration.pdf
There are certified adapters available for EBS to FM as well.

  • Any preconfigured virtualbox image for available for 11g express edition?

    Hi,
Is there nay preconfigured virtualbox image available with 11g ex installed and configured? I am on mac os and cannot install it in mac os as there is no mac version available for download.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    there'll be a VB image after the release, as Kris has announced here: {message:id=9492235}
Of course, you could start to build your own, preferably by installing one of the supported OSes like Oracle Enterprise Linux first. It takes about an hour + download time for installation media.
Another option would be to use a EC2 instance for some tests. Alex blogged about his experiences [url http://www.pythian.com/news/22045/how-to-get-started-with-amazon-ec2-oracle-11g-xe-example/]here.

  • OBIEE 11g : Unable to see any images while customizing styles and skins

    Hi,
I am trying to customize OBIEE 11g style and skin. I followed the steps mentioned at http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/12/oracle-bi-ee-11g-styles-skins-custom-xml-messages/ and also in oracle white paper http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi/customizing-oracle-biee-11g-176387.pdf.
I am not able to see any images on any OBIEE screens. After login, I can see the name of skin which i have created as the default skin but login page images, header images (after login) are not coming up. Can you please provide solution?
P.S. I have not changed any images or any css files in the custom skin and style directory. I just wanted to know first whether the new skin/style works for me. If it works, then i will apply some sort of customization.

That is correct. Also remember to delete browser cache. Here you have the folders: Re: how to insert the picture in the dashboard of BIEE
    Let me know.

I gather that these multiple 2 gig files create one big 22 gig file.
And that the information on all the files is actually found on the last file.
I've tried multiple unzip commands to unzip them, to no avail.
    Notes below.
What is the exact Linux command and syntax to unzip them?
    Thanks a lot.

Yes, after successfully unzipping on Windows before, I
knew that I could use Windows as a possible work around.
However. Windows is NTFS. Redhat does not work with it.
So, at least two 20 gig copies would be required.
    To FAT32.
    Then to ext4.
    Each a different file system.
    Check sum errors anyone?
The idea of contacting Oracle was to hopefully
get in contact with the people who originally
    created the zip archive.
If they ran the commands to:
22 gig file -> 11 file archive of 2 gig files
You would think that they would also know how to:
11 file archive of 2 gig files -> 22 gig file
Is anyone in contact with them?
If so, what is the the correct answer?

Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel version kernel-uek-2.6.32-100.34.1 adds support for paravirtualized drivers in a HVM guest on Oracle VM. Starting with this kernel version, the default is to present only paravirtualized drivers when running in a hardware virtualized guest. To run kernel-uek --including the drivers-- fully hardware virtualized, an additional kernel boot parameter "xen_emul_unplug=never" must be added to the boot parameters in /etc/grub.conf:
    kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.32-100.34.1.el5uek ro root=/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 xen_emul_unplug=never
Adding this kernel boot parameter makes the kernel also present the emulated drivers as it did before (e.g. the 8139cp network driver). "

I have had success importing VirtualBox images of OEL 6.4, but I am unable to import Solaris 11 VMs to OVM. When I import a Solaris 11 VM, the grub menu comes up. I select Solaris 11 and press enter. The OS begins to boot and progresses through to this point:
    SunOS Release 5.11 Version 11.1 64-bit
Copyright (c) 1983, 2012, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved.
It is at this point that console window in OVM goes black and OVM registers the shutdown of the VM. I have not been able to get the VM to boot any further through the sequence.
Can you give me some grub configuration changes to try?

  • Can an Oracle VM be converted for use in VMWare or VirtualBox?

Does anyone know how to convert / export an Oracle VM for use in VMware Server or in VirtualBox? I've successfully converted VMware images to OVM and VirtualBox images to OVM, but I've not been able to figure out how to get an Oracle VM to convert for use in VMWare or in VirtualBox.

The ovs-agent will recognize any strorage device on your VM server which:
    a) is unused and free of any partition, so basically a blank drive
    b) the drive must be recognized by the multipath daemon, so it must be present under /dev/mapper
So basically, you can't throw in a big drive, partition it, install OVM on it and hope to use the remaining space for your storage pool, you will need the system to recognize at least two independent drives - how ever you going to achieve that is up to you, but the most easy way is to have indeed at least two separate drives installed.

        1) root: \apps\Middleware\user_projects\domains\bifoundation_domain\servers\bi_server1\tmp\_WL_user\analytics_11.1.1\7dezjl\war\res\s_blafp\images
       2) root: \apps\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\bifoundation\web\app\res\s_blafp\images
       3) root: \apps\Middleware\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\analyticsRes

    Hi Sreeni,
The images are stored with employee ids reference like 1234.jpg in the image location path, so will it be possible to call those images into the report with no relation at database level.
as you said in above mail even if if we cld try  to store the images in oracle database with format like CLOB format the rpd will not support the datatype to bring to that report level.
Please let me know if you have any solution
    Thanks in Advance

  • Running Oracle VM 3.1 on VirtualBOX

Oracle has recently released the VirtualBox images for the Oracle VM Manager and Virtual Server 3.1.x. This will allow you to test the Oracle VM 3.1 using the VirtualBox without having to have dedicated machines for the Oracle Virtual Servers.

I haven't tried it. This document come a little late for me. I already build my Oracle VM Manager and VM Servers on my VirtualBox recently.

I haven't tried it. This document come a little late for me. I already build my Oracle VM Manager and VM Servers on my VirtualBox recently.I also managed to setup both VM Server and VM Manager on virtualbox, Have to read on the document to see whether it makes any references towards NFS shares/local shares etc. Organizating NFS share at a lab (home network) is the toughest area of the entire VM implementation for the lab prospects. My test environment is pretty difficult as I am trying to establish a VM Template repository for Oracle E-Business Suit 12.1.3 which involves around 300gb + template imports and cloning :O
In order to establish a working atmosphere, I had to install and uninstall VM Server and related repositories minimum dozen times until it stabilized :)

  • Conditional Formating - Place Image above or below text

    Hi
In OBIEE 10G I can display any images in conditional formating. But the image placement is reduced to "left", "right", "image only". Does's anybody has any idea how to place the images below or above the text?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you

    User,
If you knew the Cascading Style SHeet (CSS) elements that produced the HTML output placing the image to the left or right then you could modify or format the values using the CSS option of "format values..." from the column's context menu to increase the padding or create a break.
Otherwise there is no way to accomplish this from the basic front-end options.
    Cheers,
    Christian

  • Sparklines in OBIEE

    Dear All,
Can anyone is aware or know whether Sparklines are supported in OBIEE Interactive dashboards and also let me know whether it can be implemented by any customizations?
If anyone has done such customizations, please share the steps and any Pseudo code or link (if any)
This is very critical and requires a reply for the same.
    Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately OBIEE does not directly support sparklines. There are couple of small things that you can do.
You can simple download the report to Excel and use the sparkline template add in in excel to build the same.
There are some custom images that we can make use of them in conditional formatting tab of columns in OBIEE. We can import sparkline images and specify the condition there.
    Hope it helps
