how do I calculate sum of payments starting from the beginning of prompt month in OBIEE 11.1.1.6.12 ?

used firefox no issues but in ie not seeing any issues

I have recently installed OBIEE 10.1.3.4.2 and Oracle XE databse in a Windows XP (Professional version 2002 Service Pack 3) virtual machine on my Windows 7 machine.
Created and loaded the Default rpd file. I have used "Oracle in XE" as driver in the DSN and in the Connection Pool the Call Interface is ODBC 3.5.
In the Presentation Services I have logged on as Administrator, selected a Subject Area, then selected a single column from the list of columns and ran Display results. I am getting the following error :
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).
Error Details
Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 16001] ODBC error state: IM003 code: 160 message: Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 1114 (Oracle in XE).. (HY000)

Error in accessing the sample application content from the OBIEE 11g

I installed OBIEE 11g + Oracle 11g database on one machine. Everything went smoothly with no issues.
I can connection to the database from SQLPLUS.
Then I followed instructions to deploy sample app. After everything is done, when I try to access the dashboards, reports etc from the OBIEE 11g home page , I get the error below.
I am stuc kand dont know how to proceed. I verified tnsnames.ora and everything seems good.
In the SampleAPp.RPD, I set DB_SID as "ORCL" and DB_HOST as my computer name (along with domain name). No idea how to proceed from here..
I really appreciate any help.

1) Was the oracle installed in multiple instances ? if yes set the Variable path correctly pointing to your right folder
Yes, oracle had multiple instances. I tried copying the tnsnames.ora from my oracle home to the Oracle_BI1/network/admin directory as 11g apparetnly comes with a Oracle client as BIFACTs suggested in his/her reply. I put the same in the path variable
2) Try to ping the service_name tnsping service_name(SID) from command prompt
This works.
3) check whether you may have "white spaces" in tnsnames.ora file at starting of entry
No white spaces appeated
I still see the same issue! I logged in as developer credentials as mentioned the sample app documentation.
I get the same "cannot connect to database" error.
I once in a while see an issue with javahost not starting. Not sure what is the impact of javahsot not running and all the other managed processes running.

Unable to start Oracle Process Manager from the windows services for OBIEE

Hi,
I have OBIEE 11g installed on a 32-bit windows machine. Of the two windows services installed, I am unable to start the Oracle Process Manager. When I try to start it I get the following error:
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
At the back end, this service is calling the file opmn.exe which is placed at MIDDLEWAREHOME\Oracle_BI1\opmn\bin. On trying to execute this file the error we get is:
The procedure entry point longjmp could not be located in the dynamic link library orauts.dll
I have tried replacing the orauts.dll file, but to no avail.
Please let me know if you have any clue regarding what is to be done.

Hi Naman,
This error occurs for the following reasons,
*Path variable is not set properly
*Multiple Oracle homes exists in the same machine.
Follow the below steps and let me know if it works,
1. Select My Computer -> Right Click -> Properties
2. In the System Properties screen go to Advanced Tab
3. Click on Environment Variables
4. In the System Variables section select PATH variable & Click edit
5. Now you will find that it will contain invalid directories. Remove the incorrect entries. This may happen when you have multiple oracle homes in the same machine
6. Restart the service.

Oaky, at least we got that far. Next step is to determine if all those "numbers" are really numbers. Changing the format to "number" doesn't necessarily change the string to a number. The string has to be in the form of a number. Some may appear to you and me as numbers but will not turn into "numbers" when you change the formatting from Text to Number. Unless you've manually formatted the cells to be right justified, one way to tell if it is text or a number is the justification. Text will be justified to the left, numbers will be justified to the right.
Here are some that will remain as strings:
+123
123 with a space after it.
.123

I have a requirement : I have to switch Section in a dashboard based on the selection of Prompts (OBIEE 10G).
Lets say I have 1 report in section1 and another report in section2 of a dashboard. I have a dashboard prompt,now say when the user does not select any value in a prompt I have to show section1 and when he selects values in a prompt then I have to show section2 of the dashboard. I tries this using Guided Navigation Link and presentation variable but there is a limitation that I have to select only one value in the prompt as i have created presentation variable.
But the client wants the prompt as Multi Select. in this case I can 't use the presentation variable.
How can I fulfil this requirement.Please let me know.

How you create your multiselect prompt? Is it based on a column? Using multiselect prompt you'll get an issue in this case. The prompt behavior with choosing all values and choosing nothing is equivalent. But your requirement has different behavior lines.

How to remove the "0" from the sum cell when the other cells are empty?

When I use the formula to sum the values from a few cells, there is a zero in the sum cell when the other cells are empty.
My question concerns how to remove the 0 from the sum cell when the cells that will be summed are empty.

Hi,
Please try the Mr. Laurence's suggestion first. Then, we may try the other workarounds.
1) Go to Excel option> Advanced>Display Option for this worksheet> Uncheck Show a zero in cells that have zero value
2) Go to Conditional Formatting>New Rule>Format only cells that contain> Value equal to 0> Format the color with white

I would like to SUM two fileds from different rows from the same table but I don't know how to do that.
E.g.
BillingTransactionsIndex      CreateDate      UserType      UserIndex      TransType      Reference      Total      Balance

In the table above I want SUM fields Total and Balance for the first row and the the next row SUM 2nd row Total with 1st row Balance

Access report export to excel shows =sum() text boxes prefixed with the textbox name

When exporting reports from access to excel the =sum() (group and total sums) text boxes all have the text box name prefixed to them in excel. They look good in access reports. Any way to turn this off? Why is this happening?
I've seen the same issue on 2 computers running Access 2010. I also tried this in access 2013 and had the same issue.

Did you use the same database file? May I know how did you create the report and those TextBoxes?
I couldn't reproduce your problem, this is what I did:
Create a sample table and the corresponding report. Group it by one of the field, then give it a footer section. In the footer section I inserted a TextBox and set the ControlSource property to "=Sum([fieldname])". But the name of the TextBox didn't
show in the exported Excel file. Check the screenshots here:

Running Sum does not reste at the start of new period

Hi Gurus,
I am using function Running SUm for a variable. The problem is our Fiscal period starts in September. SO the running sum should reset at teh start of every period. but its not happening.
Any Idea why?

You are using to many variables for reset_dims, if you wanna do it this way, create a variable and add this v_FY_Sort_1;Output;Site to that variable then use
RunningSum(COGM RM Cost Total Amt Actual; variable)

Most of the running total snippets you will find in the forums contains elements like currentmember, prevmember or ranges [A : B] that also refers to members. Unfortunately the relative position of those elements are extracted from the hierarchy
level of the correspondent members as defined in the cube dimensions and not from the ordered (query scope) set.
The usual solution is to define a measure as the rank in the ordered set and take the cumulative sum with head (): sum( head( ordered set, till the rank) , by the value measure ).
If you choose the recursive solution for the running total you could use item() in combination with rank: maybe something like orderedset.item(rank measure) as an ersatz of currentmember.

Before asking your advise, here is my development,
1. We are implementing retraction through APD and generating CSV files with Excel file data as Extracting Inputs.
2. So executed all queries in cutomer exit variant by reading this inputs file from AL11 and result files also placed in same location.
3. Now my query is,
Extractor parameters/inputs Excel file format is
Char1     Char2
100          RK
now I need to calculate the sum of the KF(i.e this is the kf in result files) value from generated file or info cube and that needs to be placed besides/concatenate extract parameters values.
Char1     Char2   Total of the KF
100          RK       1113888
How to fetch the total value for the KF from the cube and add this into extract parameters file and need attach this to email alert to the user.
Please advise. Your help is more appreciated.

Just consider this option - using APD you can store data as per your requirement(rad file and cube data) and create report on direct update DSO and using information broadcasting send it to business user.

Summing on a distinct picking the max-ones

I have to write a difficult query (well, difficult for me) which should give me a -month summary- from a value (DUR) which is related to another (FK_ID) which sometimes repeat and in case of repetitions I need to sum on the highest DUR.
I have the query without picking up only the highest (therefore summing everything) and it looks like following (I took out some more data queried to gain visibility):
SELECT distinct MONTH
, sum(case when ABC = 'SM' and DEF = 'PD' then DUR end) as smpd_dur
