OBIEE 11g: Row level conditional formatting

HI,
I have created one calculated item in pivot table view. i.e like A/B*100=25%
Is it possible to % symbol on side of the value like below.
product Revenue
A            100
B             20
A/B*100  5%
Regards,
Srinivas.

Not clear!!
Value A/B*100  5%
is for any new column or as Summary?

  • OBIEE 11g: Gauge (Bulb) Conditional Formatting

    Hi everyone,
Is there a way to conditionally format a bulb gauge based on a dimension value = presentation variable?
I conditionally formatted the column in question and then put it as the "row" of the gauge but the gauge didn't inherit the formatting.
Does anyone know how I could do this?
To be honest, what I'm really trying to do have a set of stop light metrics (green/yellow/red) across the top of the report. Each one gives you quick insight into how they are performing, and then you can click on them to refresh all the metrics on the existing dashboard to that particular metric.
    For example:
    Metric 1 Metric 2 Metric 3 Metric 4
    Green Yellow Red Green
(other graphs and details about metric 1 as default, but when users click on the other metrics, all reports refresh to show details about the other metrics).
I'm envisioning something more like a glorified column selector. The goal is that you can see everything at a high level and then view specifics if you think the situation warrants that. The bulb gauges are pretty to look at and give the right feel but I'm not getting the right functionality out of them.
Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
    Thanks!

  • OBIEE 11g Report Level Conditional Filters

Is it possible to have conditional filtering of data in obiee answers once data is retrieved.
i.e without hitting the database again.
e.g I have the sales details for a region. Once the report is displayed in dashboard, can the users filter records based on sales figures > 10,000 etc?
    thanks

    Hi,
I understand that you want the cache to have the latest data instead of stale data. For the BI server to have the Latest Data the only way is to get the latest data from Database, so it has to hit the DB. We cannot help it ,but we can control when it can hit and the number of times according to our usage and the changes to the DB.
We can use the seeding cahe option to keep the cache up to date (Using Agents), the time interval is your wish(Generally right after the ETL load).

  • Obi 11g row level security not working

    All,
I am very familiar and have worked with obi 10g row level security and it works pretty easily. Now in 11g not so easy. I am basically setting permissions on data filters on app roles as per the new 11g instructions and meta data guide, however, I never see the filters being applied in the report and also in the nqquery.log. I have tried in vain, and nothing. The filters are never being applied for the test user. I even verified the user is in the specified app role via their my account->app roles tab. Now has anyone had this experience or now is there something that must be done additionally now.
    Very frustrated... ;(

Ok, so I have found the solution and ultimately the answer to why the object level and row level security was not being applied. It so happens that the app policy: 'resourceType=oracle.bi.server.permission, resourceName=oracle.bi.server.manageRepositories all' not only allows the management and access to online RPDs; but, IT ALSO DOES NOT APPLY SECURITY/PERMISSIONS IN THE RPD TO THAT USER thus you are super user. So the OOTB BIAdministrator app role which my AD user was being assigned never had any security applied due to this. How I tested:
    1) I created a test user
    2) Assigned that user to the BIAuthor app role and saw that they had the security applied that I was testing, which was simple object denial and row-level security to just one year on the date dim.
    3) Since it was working, I then assigned that user to the BIAdministrator role. This produced that the test user now does not have any restrictions that I set and that were working before. Thus, security/perms in the RPD are not applied.
4). I removed the user from the BIAdministrator app role, kept in the BIAuthor app role and then created new test app role. I mapped that user to this new role along with the BIAuthor role. I then proceeded in creating new app policy with just that policy and assigning the new app role to it.
    5) I logged into the presentation services again with this test user after assigning to new app role and policy. My test user again does not have the security being applied and does not get any perms/security that I set and applied in the RPD. On top of that my test user is now able to login in online mode to the rpd via the bi admin tool.

  • OBIEE 11g Presentation Level Session Logging

    Hi All
I have migrated OBIEE 10g to 11g in which everything is working fine. But when i am looking into the session for physical query in analytics ,iam getting the logical query . i.e. the query on the subject areas instead of the exact physical query. Can anybody help me in this to find my exact physical query.
    Advance Thanks

    Hi,
Go to Manage> Identity> double click the required user > click on Permission Button > click on Data Filters tab > there select the required column,
here year column > then set the filter year =2006,07,08.
for another user follow the same steps then set the filter year= 2009,10,11.
so when the user login he can only see the restricted data.
    please mark if Helpful/correct.
    Thanks,
    Tinku

  • Formatting Totals in OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
we have a requirement to format the totals of a table in obiee 11g.
When I format the totals, the formatting selections I made is not applied for all the entire totals section.
If the table has more than one dimension values in it, the formatting changes on Totals section is applied only for the first cell in the section.
However, the formatting changes of Totals section are fine for the measures added.
Please refer the screenshot in the below url
    http://tinypic.com/r/346q4p1/6
In the screenshot, I expect the cell under Month dimension in the Totals row to have grey color as the back ground.
Could someone help me out with this issue.
    Regards,
    Pavan K.

Can you share your code that helps to understand issue.
Appreciate if you update your other post and helps you to get responses ;)

  • Need help on Conditional Formating

    Hi All,
I have hierearchy as Region to Series and Series to Model. I have created report with following fields Actual Sales, Objective Sales, % of Objective by Region. My requirement is i need to draw a line 100% Objective in chart and need to show the %of Objective values in Green when >=100% and in Red when < 100%.
Am able to see the above conditional formating at the Region level properly. When am drilling from one particular region to Series level conditional formating is not applying.
Any suggestions to achieve above formating will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Rajkumar.

    Hi Rajkumar,
    nice one. :)
First part of the solution: you need to make it yourself a little bit easier by adding an extra column and hide this column.
Add a column with the follow formula:
CASE WHEN % of Objective >= 100 THEN 'Green' ELSE 'Red' END
Second part of the solution: add a pivot table view to your report.
Put the extra column on the Rows Section. Hide it.
Then add the pivot table chart to the pivot table view. If wanted you can remove the pivot table.
Then add the conditional formatting to your chart. I would use line bar combo for this.

  • Grand total conditional formatting

    Hi gurus,
I have a problem with the grand total conditional formatting. The grand total is not conditionally format it as do the other elements of the pivot. I have read other posts on the forum and other sites on the advice of workaround to get the grand total formatted conditionally.
    Like this:

    or
    http://gerardnico.com/wiki/dat/obiee/answer_xml
But the answers is in error:
DXE compiler error. No table 'GTGT' found in DXE. Source name: DxeAPI. XML: None
    Error details

I'm use the version obiee 11.1.1.6.2
Someone can give me some advice on how to conditionally format the grand total
    Thanks in advance

  • Conditional Formating colors not printed

I have an OBIEE Report that has conditional formating to display results with background colors based on the values like if actuals is greater than goal then display the number in green and if below the goal then red etc. What I am seeing is that when I display the report (Table view) on dashboard on IE6 browser, it shows all the conditional formatting colors on the dashboard but when I do print preview, the colors are lost. When printed, it prints the report without the colors. I developed the reports in IE8 version and when I view and print from IE8 browser, it prints with colors. I feel it might be a bug or incompatibility with IE6 but am not sure about that. Is there any way to resolve this issue. This report will be viewed on IE6 browser and upgrading the company wide browser is not an option.
Environment - Oracle Business Intelligence 10.1.3.4, OS: Windows, Browser - Internet Explorer 6
    Thanks in advance

try tools-internet options-advanced-printing-check print background colors.

  • Graphic/Image not displayed with conditional formatting in Report Designer

We are facing problems with displaying an image in a conditional formatting in the Report Designer. The image itself is in the mime repository and can be displayed in the report if no conditional formatting is used. But if it is used the image doesn't appear in the report.
    Backend setup: SP 8
Frontend setup: Patch 8, hotfix 2, Revision 95
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Sven

    Hi,
I could not reproduce your problem in internal SP8 system. Also images in rows with conditional formatting are displayed.
Do you get any errors after the execution in the portal?
Try to use exactly the same image in both rows (drag-and-drop with CTRL key pressed).
If then your problem still occurs, open a customer message. Describe your problem in detail and write technical name of the report you used.

  • How to do relative pasting of conditional formatting?

-I have a table with 5 columns and 220 rows.
-I have a conditional format set up in the first row. The fill color of col 2-5 changes based on col 1 value.
It seems I can't paste the first row's conditional formatting to the other 219 rows without having to go back and edit each row's condition to point to it's own first column.
What am I doing wrong??? It's like the pasting of the conditional formatting isn't doing relative pasting of the condition.
    Thanks!

    Hi twangy-
I am trying achieve what you seem to have accomplished. i.e. changing the colour of a cell/s based on another cell. How did you do this?
    Hi Andy,
I suspect twangy hasn't told us the whole story here, as the conditional formatting of a particular cell cannot depend solely on the contents of another cell.
What it can depend on is the value in that other cell compared to the value in the cell to be formatted.
To apply this colour change to a group of cells often requires the use of an auxiliary cell whose purpose is to take on a value whereby the same condition will be either TRUE compared to all cells in the set or FALSE compared to all cells in the set.
The easiest comparison to use for this purpose is 'greater than' or 'less than' as all that's required for the auxiliary cell is to set its value to something just outside the range if values included in the set of cells to format.
Example 1: I have a row of four cells (B2, C2, D2 and E2), and I want them all to turn red if the sum of the values they contain exceeds the value in another cell (G2).
It can't be done directly, but I can set up an auxiliary cell (H2) with an IF statement to create a value that is greater than the value in any of the cells to be formatted when the sum of their values is greater than G2 or a second value which is less than the value in any of the four cells when their sum is less than or equal to the value in G2.
I can then set the same rule for all four cells: (Apply the format when 'my' value is) Less than   H2
Formula for H2 in this case:
    =IF(SUM(B2:E2)>G2,MAX(B2:E2)+1,MIN(B2:E2)-1)
Example 2: If the value in any of the four cells exceeds the value in G2, apply the formatting to all the cells.
As previous example, but formula for H2 is now:
    =IF(OR(B2>G2,C2>G2,D2>G2,E2>G2),MAX(B2:E2)+1,MIN(B2:E2)-1)
Note that the two possible values of H2 are the same in both formulas. All that differs is the comparison with cell G2 that determines which value H2 will have.

  • Can I set a conditional format as default in OBIEE 11g?

    Hi,
I would like to set all positive number be (green) and negative number be (red) for all tables in Analytics Web (OBIEE 11g). Apart from create conditional format for every tables, is there any way to set once only and apply for all reports?

    Hi User,
You can set system wide default by clicking on the button in conditional format tab.
*Make sure user has "Save System-Wide Column Formats" privilege to enable the option.

  • Row level security in OBIEE 11g: Which is better: VPD or RPD

We can apply row level security in OBIEE by 2 ways.
    1. by Creating Initialize Block in RPD
    2. or Applying VPD in Database, which restricts source tables
Which one is more efficient and why?
    Thanks,
    Sunil Jena

you will have some degree of performance degradation with either approach since you are adding additional filters so I would not use that as the main factor to decide. You need to assess your actual requirements. What is the basis by which you are planning on doing the security. Is LDAP the main basis for the security? Do you plan to use certain roles? if your security is more based on roles at the application level, then it may be easier to define at the Application level (OBIEE)...if its just based on a certain user ID for a set of tables, then perhaps VPD can work. If helpful, pls mark.

  • Conditional Formatting of a Direct Database Request Columns in OBIEE 11g

    Hi All,

  • Row level security in OBIEE 11g

    Hi guys,
We have a business intelligence project in OBIEE, and I have a question regarding row level security (RLS).
Specifically, I have an hierarchical organization with users belonging to different structures. If one user belongs
to a structure that is above another structure in hierarchy, then he should see both data from his structure and
the of the users in structures bellow it. In the reports, we must have filters implemented respecting this requirement,
i.e. if one logs in OBI and accesses the report, he should see in the filter "Users" only subordinate users and respectively
data displayed in the report should be filtered accordingly. How would you suggest to implements this type of security
in the data model? And how could I create the type of filter mentioned above?

This needs to be implemented in 3 different levels. 1. in database  2. in RPD  3 in reports
    1. You need to have facts or dimensions which have columns through which you can filter based on their hierarchy. e.g position in an organisation or department in the hierarchy table which can be joined to fact.
    2. In rpd you need to create a session variable and initialize it using init block based on the user who is logging in. This variable will be you position or department through which you want to filter based on hierarchy. e.g select position from hierarchy_table where user= 'NQSession(user)' . The resulting position value will be used as a filter.
    3. Add this position variable as a content filter in your LTS in you BMM layer.
    4. You can also use this session variable  as a filter in you reports too.
    hope this helps.
