OBIEE Answers and filtered totals

We try to prepare an reports in OBIEE Answers and we want to take filtered totals of a field.
Let me clear
We have a field values as
FieldSampleTotal VAlues
Name1 1000
Nema1 Detail 1 20
NAme1 Detail 2 980
NAme2 2000
Because of some hieararchy is data we want to calculated sum of just bold lines.
it means total is 3000

An other option for inter-rows calculation will be to use the filter in one column formula of a table view :
FILTER(Fact.Values USING (Dim.Colunm = 'Name1' or Dim.Colunm = 'Name2'))I don't see the layout of your final report.

Cannot log into OBIEE answers and Dashboard

Hi All,
When we try to loginto OBIEE dashboard as an administrator we get an error as given below
Error Codes: WH4KCFW6:OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC
Odbc driver returned an error (SQLDriverConnectW).
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 12008] Unable to connect to port 9703 on machine LOCALHOST. [nQSError: 12002] Socket communication error at call=: (Number=-1) Unknown error 4294967295 (HY000)
Everything was working until recently. This is a unix installation.
Any help would be appreciated

Hi,
I dont know if these is because of the firewall as this instance was working properly before. Any other reason which may cause this? I'll try the above steps to see if this is indeed the cause

How to display a horizontal table in OBIEE Answers?

Hi All,
In one of my Client's report the table was aligned in Horizontal manner. I tried all the options in OBIEE Answers and found no option to convert the vertical table to horizontal table in OBIEE Answers. Is there any way to convert the vertical table to horizontal table. If so, please tell me in a step wise manner as i am new to OBIEE Answers it will be easy for me to create my report.

Hi Deva,
As you said, I tried creating my table in Pivot view. But the only the measure columns are only retrieving values if the column is a CHARACTER column then no value is retrieved. In that column's aggregation rule only the first and last options are working. What to do to retrieve the values of a character column if it is placed in measure section of pivot table.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You might try to see if you can change your security questions. Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account > Password and Security.
I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, I'm inclined to think its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose.

Many apple phone users are especially fed up with RSGI Communication , Erandwana, Pune, Maharashtra, India.
Their service report No. 36679.
Allthough Mr Punit ( Technical Dept. Apple.) had requested RSGI to chance the device, still RSGI said they do not have the device ( I phone 5, white ,16GB) in stock.
Today when we contacted them they said they won't be able to replace OR order to Apple unless and until we do not keep the device with them for 3 days.
Mr Deepak of Technical Dept Apple was contacted who's telephonic Transript as proof is available with us.

TopN and Rank in OBIEE-Answer

Hi All,
I'm an "OBIEE newbie" and not sure how to use the Topn or Rank function to achieve the desired resullt below.
I have a report that will display the top 10 or 20 (or whaterver # entered by users) of hospitals that have highest # of patients and then a sum of patients from the rest of other hospitals. ex:
Hospitals #patients rank
ABC 1500 1
KLM 1200 2
DEF 1200 2
XYZ 200 10
Other hospistals: 5000
The top 10 or 20 # will be used as a prompt.

I did follow John's posting (it's very helpful for a beginner) but I just could not figure out what he did in Pivot table to get the SUM of the one that did not make the top 10 list. If you could show me how to do that :)

How to get sub and grand total

Dear all, I have a report which combines the two totals together and and makes one formula. This formula then is filtered according to Group2 (Reason Code).
Group 1 is the same Reason Code however with Specified names. Group2 is the same reason code however with ascending order.
My question is how to make the sub total and grand total of this formula.
Detailed Information:
1: Total One - DistinctCount(Order_no),GroupName2 -- In this Total, the records are counted when Linetype = F
2: Total Two - DistinctCount(Order_no),GroupName2 -- In this Total, the records are counted when Linetype = S
Formula

Numbervar y:=0;
Numbervar z:=0;
x:={#FOCTC};
y:={#CREDITTC};

Now this formula is placed in the footer of the Group2 (Reason Code).
What I would like to do is to have a Group2 Sub Total and Finally Grand Total.
I have tried the Following however it doesn't seem to be working.
I created another formula exactly like above and placed it into the same Group footer however removed the "Numbervar o:=0;" (The numbervar z:=0; in the above case however when I created another formula I created named the variable "o" instead of "z") so that it does not reset it.
Then I placed another formula into the Report Footer with the following code
Whileprintingrecords;
Numbervar o;
Any ideas?

Ok sorted, I used another formula like this.
Whileprintingrecords;
Numbervar TJGs;
Numbervar TotalJobs=0;
Numbervar CAvg=0;
TotalJobs := {@TotalFOCCR};
CAvg:= TotalJobs;
TJGs:=TJGs + CAvg;
CAvg
It sorted the issue.

Max date related to Max value in OBIEE answers

Hi,
I have one requirement in answers where in which i have to show the data with following columns
My table structure is Account Number, date, Balance
My report structure is Account Number, Max balance, Max balance Date, Balance as on start date, Balance as on end date.
I have to provide a adhoc date filter, where in which user has the option to select the start date and end date.
user wants the report in same format
Can any one please let me know how to handle this in OBIEE 10.1.3.4 Answers.

Hi Deva,
But i tried with a simple scott RPD. It has two tables DEP and EMP. In the criteria section i dragged and dropped 4 columns. DEPNO, DNAME, ENAME AND SALARY. And in the criteria filter section, i added the column "DNAME" and chose the static filter as "ACCOUNTING". when i clicked on the results tab. It displayed the results related to DNAME-ACCOUNTING. After that, I created a dashboard_Prompt in which i chose the column prompt and the column as DNAME and the condition i gave is - equal to. In the Dashboard section, I dragged and dropped both the Dashboard_Prompt and Analysis. In the Dashboard, in Dashboard_Prompt section is chose the value "RESEARCH". Now the default analysis that was displaying the results related DNAME-ACCOUNTING changed and filtered the data related to DNAME-RESEARCH.
By this experiment, I guess giving static value in criteria and changing it in the Dashboard_prompt will work. Is it right?

OBIEE Answers weird behavior with drilldown

Hello,
First and foremost, I apologize for my english, in case you have a hard time understanding my request. I'm also new to BI and OBIEE, to make things worse.
So here's my problem: In OBIEE Answers/Criteria I make a simple request like :
YEAR | QUARTER | MONTH_NAME | SALES_FACTS
The result is working alright, but when I click on some MONTH_NAME, let's say April of 1998, it says :
<< The specified criteria didn't result in any data. This is often caused by applying filters that are too restrictive or that contain incorrect values. Please check your Request Filters and try again. The filters currently being applied are shown below. >>
But that's impossible, because on the upper level there was data in SALES_FACTS. You could argue that something isn't right with my configuration etc.. but the weird thing is that not all months fail when i click to drilldown in it.
For example, if I click on february of 1998, it works! But if I click on february of .. let's say 2006, it doesnt work !
Another weird thing: If I make my request like this:
YEAR | QUARTER | MONTH_NAME | DAY | SALES_FACTS
It works for april 1998, and all the other requests that failed with drilldown. But there is one condition: I can't put a filter to show only april. For April's details to appear, there must be May and June
Do you get it ....?

I found the solution to my problem:
1) First fix: There were blanks at the end of month names... That fixed the problem for several requests, but not all
2) 2nd fix: In the time dimension I used month_number as the primary key, but it is month_name that is used for drilldown and is show to the user on the web interface...
It was pretty simple, yes...

Using transforms and filters without device drivers

Hello,
I came across NIMS as a possible solution for some transforms and filtering, possibly even generating test signal data, for a seismic application. I'm in the process of evaluating NIMS for best possible fit for what we need/want to accomplish.
Basically, we've got some seismic data, and we want to process that data through a series of transforms and filters to denoise and pick the data for seismic analysis. No sense reinventing the wheel if we can adopt and then adapt a third-party library like NIMS into our app.
We do not necessarily need any device drivers, although I noticed installing NIMS requires them. Hopefully we can opt in or out depending on what's actually required. Can someone help clarify the nature of the driver dependency?
Anyhow, like I said I am evaluating it for best possible fit in our application, but in the meantime if someone can shed some light on the above concerns, questions, etc, would begreat.

How to change the default up arrow in OBIEE Answers

I want to change the default blue up arrow with a green up arrow in OBIEE answers. How to do it?

Do you mean the condition formatting options ? If so I had a similar requirement to create a Green up arrow and an orange 'sideways' arrow. I did the following, all based on a default Windows install using OC4J :
Navigate to :
C:\OracleBI\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\applications\analytics\analytics\res\s_oracle10\meters\arrow\tri\
I copied up.gif to upgreen.gif and change the colour in a image editor.
I coped up.gif, rotated 90 degrees, changed colour to orange and saved this as sideways.gif
I copied the two new files into the Web services stye folders also :
C:\OracleBI\web\app\res\s_oracle10\meters\arrow\tri
restarted OC4J and presentation services and they are now available in the conditional formatting options, alongside the defaut Blue (up) and red(down) arrows.
** I believe the new pictures need to exist in any other style folders that you are using, e.g "s_hyperion", "s_oracle10", s_custom if you've done your own.

Problem with sorting and filtering of table

Hello,
using VC 7.1 SP5 I have created [this|http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/2460/screenshotsr0.png] model. The webservice returns a collection of structured elements. The table is meant to display values of top-level attributes. This works as expected.
However, the table cannot be sorted or filtered. What is the reason for this? How can I fix that?
I tried to store the result of the web service in a data bridge. That did not succeed.

How are you trying to sort it?
I want to be able to sort the table by clicking on the table column headers. Furthermore, I want be able to filter the table by using the built-in table feature. However, table sorting and filtering seem to be disabled for this particular table, whereas other tables in my model provide the desired features.

FBL5N - printing per customer and per total one sheet

we tried to print open items report, but we get per sheet one customer and the total on an other sheet. The print out is like this too big. How can we change the settings for the printing?

Try to get to Subtotals (Ctrl+F1) and in the Sort fields delete the * in the last column (column GW).

I need to have sub total for a particular type(eg: goods, services).. and grand total at end in ALV grid..
ALV output required as below:
