OBIEE Year ago and Month ago

Hi,
I want to find the month ago and year ago in obiee repository.I have measure column 'Sum(Sales)' and time hierarchy with year, month and date level. Note that I may not have data for all the dates since for some days I may not have any sales at all. If I use Ago function in repository with measure and month level, I am not getting result which I expected.
Please point me to correct directions.

It sounds like you are on the right track. The lack of some fact records for specific dates should not matter. The Time Series Functions in the RPD are totally reliant on the time dimension being setup correctly, so I would first suggest checking the time dimension (hierarchy) setup. A common problem is with level-based keys. Check that keys have been defined correctly at each hierarchy level (except the Grand Total level); make sure that you have a sequential chronological key* defined at each dimension level, primary and drill down keys have been defined at each level (as required) and the grand total level has been correctly flagged. Don't forget, the dimension needs to be flagged as a time dimension too! There is plenty of guidance on the web about setting up and using time dimensions if you need more detail.
* If you think about this laterally, the time series functions need to know how to work out what a measure value was x periods ago. Periods could be years, months, weeks, quarters; as defined by the level variable in the time series function. So, based on a prompted period, say Mar-2012, the BI server does not have any inbuilt calendar logic that knows that two periods ago it was Jan-2012. Our calendar could be defined using some strange period names e.g JN10-11, FB10-11, MR11-12 etc. We need to tell the BI server how these periods are sequentially (or chronalogically) related. This is where the chronological keys come in which we define in the dimension.
Also, ensure that the aggregation method of the base measure is Sum.
Check the syntax you are using for the time series function:-
AGO(measure, time dimension level, number of period(s) ago) e.g. AGO(Core."Fact - Project Cost".Cost, Core."Date - Fiscal Calendar"."Fiscal Period", 1)
Do you get any RPD consistency check errors? Have you created a logical join between the fact and the dimension tables in the business model?
Finally, have you looked at the physical SQL being generated to get some pointers? You can do this by ensuring that the log level variable is set appropriately to display physical SQL in the query logs (e.g. level 2).
Please mark helpful/answered if this has been useful,
Andy.

  • In iPhoto 9.6 how should I import older photos located in yearly folders and monthly folders?

Before using iPhoto my photos were cataloged by locating them in folders broken down by year, month and activity and on different HDs.  Over the last few years my newer iPhone photos are imported into iPhoto and saved on a separate HD. I think I read that it is possible for the photos to remain in their original locations without copying them and doubling the HD space.
Should I just dump the older photos into the same location as my newer photos and if so, how will iPhoto import them?  I think I may have just answered my question!
How do you suggest I import the older photos (5,000-10,000 photos)?

    Dear Mr. Devlin,
I have been reading many threads regarding iPhoto, and you seem to be the most knowledgeable person on the software. I was wondering if you could resolve some basic misunderstandings I have related to andyhutch's question. I know that iPhoto is a database, and that the software provides views into the database. Under the "LIBRARY" heading in my iPhoto sidebar, I have 4 views: "Events," "Photos," "Faces," and "Places." In which of these views am I seeing the actual photo files and in which am I seeing a pointer to the file? In other words, if I delete an "Event," am I deleting the actual photo files or just a view into the database? The same question for "Photos": if I delete one of the Photo collections, am I deleting the actual photos or just the pointers? I am trying to simplify the organization of an 8K photo collection and use smart albums more effectively, and I don't see why I should bother with two additional ways (Events and Photos) to view my photos. But I am afraid to delete anything for fear of losing my original photos.
Because you have contributed numerous posts to the Support community, you may already written something that addresses my questions. In that case, I apologize and hope that you can provide a link to that post.
    Thank you.

  • Cookies reappear after deleting from months ago!

OK This just happened and is very, very odd.  I am in the habit of deleted my cookies pretty frequently.  When I go to delete them at the end of the day there is maybe 80 or 90 or so at the most.
So tonight I deleted the cookies, and they were all gone.  Then I restart safari and log in to 1 or 2 websites.  Usually I wind up with maybe 4-5 that appear after a login.  So I check and there are over 1,000!  And they are from sites I visited months and months ago!  So immedeatly I think it must be the iCloud safari sync.  I go and check that and nope it is off.
Anyone have any idea how this happened!?  Very strange!
    Thanks in advance.

    Empty Caches
    1. Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
"Develop" menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
    2. Quit Safari if open.
Option click the "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
        Select "Library" and then "Caches".
        Look for the folder 'com.apple.Safari"
Right click "com.apple.Safari" and select "Move to Trash"
        Relaunch Safari.

  • History in the menu is stuck on pages I visited a month ago

When I hit "Show all History" in the History Menu... all the history is indeed displayed.
However the sites I visited a week or 3 back are all stuck in the tab under History

Thanks a million for your help cor-el .... and please
appreciate that what I type here is intended in no way as a reflection on your very-welcome efforts and excellent advice.
However, I'm sure you'll appreciate how intensely frustrating this browser's misbehaviour is to non-techie users.
To add insult, FireFox has just crashed again as I get to the end of this message to you.... so I've switched to IE to try and finish.
    I checked places.sqlite and there's 3:
    places.sqlite
    places.sqlite-sgl
    places.sqlite-wal
That middle one ain't the exact suffix... but I'm running short of, er, enthusiasm
So, the only way of knowing one places file is corrupted is to kill the lot right?
And if I do that, I lose 5 years Bookmarking and months of History? If that's the case, I s'pose your non-techie Firefoxer MUST be given university instruction in the gentle art of manually backing-up these files... the procedure for which seems fiendishly complex... when what I want is a browser that (long before we got to version 9.0.1 actually operates on auto)
I probably don't need to add that the reason I'm still here, still persevering is that when FF is working well, I love it... and I am too darned keen to keep trying to get the program to operate my online activities to have enough inclination to switch browsers again.
You see: IE hasn't crashed in the last 7 paragraphs ;-)
Or am I doing something wrong and don't realise it?
    Best from downunder
    Mike

  • Report by year quarter or month

We have requirement where we may have to show some reports by either year, quarter or month. How this is supported in OBIEE answers ?

Mark's suggestion answers exactly what you asked, but when you select "quarter," for example, you'll get all quarters regardless of year. This would also be true if you selected "month." What I would suggest is building dashboard prompts for year, quarter and month. This way the user can select what year, then quarter, then month if needed, to constrain the data appropriately. By checking off "All Choices" in the dashboard prompt design, you user can see all quarters for a year, for example.
Another way would be to use drill down from Year to Quarter to Month.
    Hope that helps you... :)

I got the iphone 5 six months ago. The lock button broke two months ago so I went to apple and got a new one.  My lock button just recently broke so can I go get another phone seeing that it is still within the first year? There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto. Version 8.1.2
    - What version of the Operating System. OSX 10.9.4
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
When I open iPhoto, only the most recent photos are shown (last 12 months)
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages? This has been going on for several weeks now. There are no error messages, but yes, I had an update in the system (QuarkXPress 10.1), and the problem has occurred from that day.
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue. I tried to find out where the problem came from, but found no solution.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto? No
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
Thank you so much for offering help. I am not a proficient user of the system.
