Obtaining general trend from noisy data

Hi
I am measuring the bending strain of a wing which will be 'plucked' to cause it to vibrate. Firstly, I need to record the strain measurements versus time and ouput them to a file. In LabView I can't seem to adjust the graph so that it gives amplitude versus time in seconds - its in 'absolute time'. (I'm very new to LabView...)
Next thing I need to do is to filter the data so that it gives a nice smooth curve (from which the damping ratio can be found). i.e. for example, if I have a really noisy sine wave, I want a filter that will remove the noise leaving the trend behind which represents the amplitude and phase accurately. Is there an in-built filter for this? There are various filters for certain applications which affect the amplitude and phase and I am really not sure which one would be best for my application. Thanks in advance.

The time axis of the graph can be changed by using the properties. Context-click on the graph and the dialog should allow you to change from absolute time to relative time or to a numeric format for the axis.
The trend issue depends on the nature of the signal and the nature of the noise. Averaging is easy and often the first thing to try. Smoothing filters or sliding window filters can be used to smooth the data and reduce the effects of noise. If you know what the signal waveform should look like, fitting a function to the data and deriving the parameters from the fitted function is good. From your description I suspect that you may have combinations of several types of signals and fitting may not work well.

Yes, basically you should use IMPORT/EXPORT statements for clusters.
AR and MC are cluster ID (area identification), so called RELID.
By definition cluster is a combination of table and such area i.e
PCL2(RX) - international payroll resuts from table PCL2
PCL2(B2) - time results

Hello Wond Thanks for Good Answer and good option, But Client does not like this option and does not like Nav Attribute so he does not want to turn on any Nav Attribute, In general also We hav requirement to read a third table while uploading 1 dso table to 2 dso table,

Problem with ArrayLists and writing and reading from a .dat file (I think)

I'm brand new to this forum, but I'm sure hoping someone can help me with a problem I'm having with ArrayLists. This program was originally created with an array of objects that were displayed on a GUI with jtextFields, then cycling thru them via jButtons: First, Next, Previous, Last. Now I need to add the ability to modify, delete and add records. Both iterations of this program needed to write to and read from a .dat file.
It worked just like it was suppose to when I used just the array, but now I need to use a "dynamic array" that will grow or shrink as needed: i.e. an ArrayList.
When I aded the ArrayList I had the ArrayList use toArray() to fill my original array so I could continue to use all the methods I'd created for using with my array. Now I'm getting a nullPointerException every time I try to run my program, which means somewhere I'm NOT filling my array ???? But, I'm writing just fine to my .dat file, which is confusing me to no end!
It's a long program, and I apologize for the length, but here it is. There are also 2 class files, a parent and 1 child below Inventory6. This was written in NetBeans IDE 5.5.1.

BalusC -- The line that gives me my NullPointerException is when I call the "DisplayProduct()" method. Its a dumb question, but with NetBeans how do I find out which reference could be null? I'm not very familiar with how NetBeans works with finding out how to debug. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.The IDE is com-plete-ly irrelevant. It's all about the source code.
Do you understand anyway when and why a NullPointerException is been thrown? It is a subclass of RuntimeException and those kind of exceptions are very trival and generally indicate an design/logic/thinking fault in your code.

How to generate a number from two dates

I am 'new' at this of using Numbers for anything. What I want to do AND I can't seem to figure it out, is to generate a 'days total' from two dates. I get paid S.S. on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. I have X number of dollars to spend. In order to view each day how much money I have for the rest of the month, I need to be able to obtain how many days are left in the period. I know what the fixed day is for the end and could key that in. I want it to be able to take the current day for the calculation without my having to key IT IN each day. Then I could use that returned number for other functions. I did look into "Functions" screen on the right hand side, read them several times, tried some but have not succeeded. Can someone here help this 68 year young man to figure this out? Thanks

you can use the function TODAY() to get the date.
then you can compute a duration (the difference between two dates). Data/time is a single type of variable in Numbers. Meaning that a complete date/time value includes both a date and a time. When you enter one without the other Numbers assumes the other portion.
you can subtract any two dates to get the duration.
The format for a date is:
1/2/2015 12:09A
2 Jan 2015 12:09A
a duration would look like:
3w 4d 6h 15m 45s 76ms
Three weeks, four days, six hours, fifteen minutes, forty five seconds, seventy six milliseconds

How to create a .mdf SQL Server database from a Data-Tier Application file that has data?

This is a noob question, though I do use SQL Server databases all the time with Entity Framework when I code in C# using Visual Studio 2013. The development environment is found below at [A]. I am trying to make a clone of a SQL Server 2008 R2
database (.mdf) that exists online. I can read, connect and work with this database in Visual Studio 2013, but I wish to make a local copy of the database, as an .MDF file. Somewhere in my notes I have a way of creating a local copy from
an online database when using Visual Studio but I forgot how (it seems, reviewing my notes, that it deals with ADO.NET which is deprecated in Visual Studio 2013 these days, or so it seems). So I'm looking for another way. What I did was create
(or export) a "Data-Tier Application File" from the online SQL Server database, with data, and it seems to have worked in that this Data-Tier Application file exists on my hard drive and seems to have data in it ("SQL Server Replication Snapshot"
is the format it seems). It contains skeleton code to create a database, but when I tried to execute it with SQL Server 2014 Management Studio, I got a bunch of errors.
So my question is:
1) Can I somehow create a .MDF SQL Server Database from an Data-Tier Application file that has data? What tool do I use? I saw this link, http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/2639.how-to-use-data-tier-application-import-and-export-with-a-windows-azure-sql-database.aspx
and it relates to Azure, but is there a tool for C#Visual Studio 2013, standalone?

to read, update, delete the online database file, but strangely not to download it (the service I use has a tool for backup, but not for download).
3) same question as 2), but for Visual Studio 2013? I don't think so, since I notice none of the templates even mentions ADO.NET anymore, but instead they go with Entity Framework. Using EF I can of course do anything I want with the online database
(CRUD), but it remains online. Maybe there's a switch to make a local copy? I guess I could write a short program to suck all the data out of the online database and put it into a new, duplicate database having the same tables, that I create on
my localhost, but my question here is if there's an easier way than this, maybe a tool or command I can run from inside Visual Studio?
Any advice on any of the above questions is appreciated.

"2. what do you mean by online file?" - I mean the SQL Server database file is on a remote web server that I rent from, but I am not the administrator of. I can access my database using SQL Server Authentication, but nothing more.

Populating a subform from a data source.

I understand that the help file in LiveCycle Designer describes the procedure for connecting fields in a form to columns in a data base. I have tried for several days now to populate simple customer information (name, address, state, zip, phone, fax) from a data base.
I have exported the data into an acess database, created the dsn, created the data connection, an secured the database. I am still getting an error message that says "Connection for Source Data Connection failed because the environment is not trusted." I am trying everything I can think of to create the proper combination of user-level security for the database and proper use of the "connection string", but now I have read in the forums that even upon success of this effort, my fellow employees will not be able to use the form properly unless we purchase "Reader Extension Server"
Is there any way to populate customer data in a form, from a data source, that is compatible with Reader, without buying "extension server"

OLEDB is the only database connection that you can connect to from Designer. Through the use of the Microsoft OLEDB Provider for ODBC Drivers, you can also access databases identified by the ODBC data source name (DSN). You can use OLE drivers other than the Microsoft OLEDB Provider for ODBC, however the form must be certified in Acrobat before it will function at run time.
In Acrobat, security concerns dictate that you cannot specify an ODBC connection string by using the Driver=; syntax. Therefore, the client computer needs a DSN configured for ODBC connections.
If you are using external data sources in a form design that you want users to fill in Adobe Reader, you must set
usage rights for the form by using Reader Extensions Server.
Unfortunately it looks like a direct DB connection requires Reader Extensions. Fortunately you can get Reader Extensions pretty cheap from
FormRouter.
As an alternative you can submit the data to a server script (like ASP) and have it write into the Database. There are plenty of sources for writing ASP for PDF files. Just do a search on this forum, or on the web in general.

'Cannot obtain error message from server' when trying to use ODBC

Hi, I'm developing some reports using Crystal XI on my local PC, using an Oracle 10i back end on a separate server. The SQL for the report is in a method in an oracle package.
When I set the datasource location, selecting 'Oracle Server' then entering the details works fine, and the report runs. However, when I try to use an ODBC connection I get the following error:
Database Connection Error: 'Cannot obtain error message from server.'
The ODBC link is set up as a System DSN, which works fine when I test it. I think I need to use ODBC as some of the reports (which I inherited) seem to fail when run on the Crystal Server, and it seeme to be the ones set up with ODBC which work.
Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi Mars-
It sounds like your NI-DAQ installation may have become corrupted. I would suggest uninstalling and reinstalling the DAQmx 7.4 driver to correct this problem and ensure that you're up to date. This download is available here: NI-DAQ 7.4
If the problem persists you may want to uninstall and reinstall LabVIEW and then NI-DAQ in that order. The error message will usually give an indication as to which VI the error occurred in. Please let us know which VI is failing if you're unable to avoid the error with these suggestions.

Report "General Ledger from the Document File" - Cumulative balance

Hi!
When I start the report "General Ledger from the Document File" (transaction S_ALR_87100205), I get a list of documents with no obvious default sort order criteria (I can see at glance that document numbers and posting dates are not sort criteria). This makes the cumulative balance column completely useles.
Since the cumulative balance is carried from one row to another, standard sorting functionality for the already produced list makes no sense.
There should be a way to affect the sort order in program before cumulative balance calculation, or at least to find it out.
Is there a way to acomplish this?

In the output control section there is a button called configure. Select a variant. Select configure. Save the sort order and report definition the way you want it. Name a new variant. Now go back and run the report with your variant.

I having difficulty in finding solutions to query data from multiple data blocks. By the way I'm using Oracle Forms 10g
I have 4 data blocks and all items are database items
Below are the blocks,
1. student_main (columns : student_id, student_name, student_state)
2. subject_main (columns : subject_id, subject_desc, subject_student_id)
3. invoice_main (columns : invoice_no, invoice_amt, invoice_student_id)
4. receipt_main (columns : receipt_no, receipt_amt, receipt_invoice_ref)
The form will need to allow user to be able to query from any of the items/fields from the data blocks as listed above
For eg,
: if user query student_id then all related value items from table subject_main, invoice_main, receipt_main need to be displayed
: if user query invoice_no then all related value items from table student_main, subject_main, receipt_main need to be displayed
However the tricky part is that some student might have or might not have invoice / receipt data
I tried using relations but it didn't work both ways
I even create relations in every table (student_main to subject_main, subject_main to student_main, invoice_main to student_main, student_main to invoice_main and etc.) but it just make my running process hang
Need help on this matter

In general, relation will work. your relation creating was wrong, i think.
do as
1. student_main master to subject_main details
2. student_main master to invoice_main details
3. invoice_main master to receipt_main details

I am currently working on SCM Queries. I have a report where I have to display the sales for 16 weeks from the date of release of cinema.
For eg.
In rows, Title and Release date are displayed in rows. In columns data is displayed with Wee1, Week2,,,,,,,,,up to Week 16.
Generally using Off sets we can achieve using current week. But here I have to consider the release date. The release date is nothing but the equals to current week from there it has to show all 16 weeks invidually

you can use use a flag in the update rule with 16 values e.g. A,B,C.....L for 16 weeks. pupulate the flag based on the release date.There is a function module which convert date to week. Once this is done create a restricted Key figure in BEx restricting the sales based on the flag i.e A for WEEK1, B for WEEK2.

Mapping from xsd:date to ABAP dates (yyyy-mm-dd)

I've an automated activity that calls an ABAP web service in our SAP ERP.
In my BPM data object I've a date in format xsd:date which should be passed as web service parameter.
I've tried to use
(Data_Object/Requestor/FromDate) cast as date
but this causes an error when calling the web service.
If I put a fix value like "2011-03-17" it works.
How can I do the conversion?
Another general question:
From a practical point of view, isn't it better to call web services in the WebDynpro itself instead of creating an automated activity?
An advantage would be the direct response of the web service which then could be handled in the user interface.

SQL Cluster - Unable to obtain IP Address from System Center IP Pool

we are trying to deploy a SQL cluster into a windows azure pack tenant cloud.
Our azure pack environment contains:
- 4X Hyper-V server in a failover cluster
- 1X SCVMM server
- multiple WAP server

Hi Darryl,
thanks for your supply.
We don't have an DHCP in the Cloud. System Center DHCP is used for assigning IP addresses and routing inforamtion to the vms.
This works fine for assigning IP addresses to the vms.
At my current point of understanding network virtualisation with system Center, we do not have an alternative to this way of assigning IP addresses.

YTD report generated from excel data yielding incorrect results

I am trying to generate a YTD report from the data present in an excel sheet. However the result is coming out to be incorrect for YTD sales
The data sheet looks like this.(SaleDate is in *3/14/2009 format).
SNo     manufacturer     date     # of CarsSold
1     Hyundai     1/2/2010     10
2     Maruti     1/2/2010     15
3     Hyundai     1/14/2010     11
4     Maruti     1/14/2010     15
5     Hyundai     2/1/2010     10
6     Maruti     2/1/2010     13
My logical layer consists of the following 3 tables
Manufacturer Dim table with only 1 column 'manufacturer'
Date dim table with only 1 column 'date'. Additional derived columns in this logical table created for YTD calculations are as follows:
CALENDER_YEAR_NAME---- EXTRACT( YEAR FROM testdata.TimeDim."date")
QUARTER_OF_YEAR------- EXTRACT( QUARTER_OF_YEAR FROM testdata.TimeDim."date")
MONTH_OF_YEAR----------- EXTRACT( MONTH FROM testdata.TimeDim."date")
CALENDER_QUARTER_DESC------ CONCAT( CAST (testdata.TimeDim.CALENDER_YEAR_NAME AS CHARACTER ( 30 )), CAST (testdata.TimeDim."QUARTER_OF_YEAR" AS CHARACTER ( 30 ))) ////appending year name to month name for uniqueness

After that time dimension was created with the following levels.

month
timedimdetail-Chronological key has been specified at all levels of the time dimension created for YTD calculation.The key at the lowest detail level was specified as 'date' column. At the upper levels it was CALENDER_MONTH_DESC,CALENDER_QUARTER_DESC,CALENDER_YEAR_NAME etc
Fact table with 1 column '# cars sold'.The fact table is joined with both the dim tables by complex logical join. Sno has been ommitted and not used in any of the logical tables. Sale YTD column was created in fact table using todate function(year).
The result am obtaining if i run the report today is:
CALENDER_YEAR_NAME QUARTER_OF_YEAR MONTH_OF_YEAR # of CarsSold SaleYTD
2,010 1 1 51 51
2,010 1 2 23 46
As you can see YTD for month 2 is coming incorrect it should be 51+23. This is jst test records and the same difference exists even if i run against my actual excel sheet
I would like to know:
1. Is it right to run YTD report against excel sheet as I checked for the query beign generated by answers, and its firing a lot of functions like Quarter name and monthname etc which i am not sure are supported by excel for answers.
2. If i am going fundamentally wrong somewhere in this entire approach as i am new to obiee and chances are i might be missing something important.

I have another solution and that is to actual discard the result before you get to the report stage.
You can do this by use of the Override Callback SequenceFilePostResultList and if Skipped then discard the result from ResultList.
