OC4J freezes after uploading a class or jsp file

We've been having a problem with OC4J locking up after a jsp or class file has been uploaded to the server. We configured the development mode to true and it seemed to work inconsistently in reloading java beans. Does anybody know what I can do about this problem? We have to constanly bounce OC4J to get it going again or reloading the new class files.
Thanks

OC4J just stopped serving pages altogether when it happened. How can I tell if it's a OutOfMemory problem? We're running OC4J 1.0221 with JDK 1.2208. I'll try to increase memory size and see if that helps.
Thanks

  • Adobe Digital Edition freezes after downloading a book via -acsm file

    Hello,
    Three hours ago I have downloaded the Adobe Digital Edition (ADE) so that I can read a book for my studies.
    I use Win7 on my netbook.
    I fully authorized it, downloaded the .acsm file, unblocked it in the properties and opened it with the ADE.
    A smaller window popped up saying: Fulfilling[book name] and a progress bar went up to 100%.  Then it dissapeared and the ADE froze in a fashion that it can be moved around and minimalized, but nothing else.
    Eventually, after about 30min I closed it via task manager.
    I've already spent three hours digging through the forums instead of studying so any help is appreciated.

    I am also having this problem. Did you find a solution?

  • Modifications to a jsp file not getting loaded after it has been served out once

    Hi,
    I am using Weblogic 6.1 on solaris platform.
    I have created a new managed server under the default domain. A new
    default web application was created with a DefaultWebApp directory which
    acts as the default directory for JSP files for this server.

    In this new server if i make changes to a jsp file which has been served out
    once, the modifications are not reflected until and unless i restart the
    server.
    problem 2:
    If I start the server and after that I add a JSP file to the DefaultWebApp
    directory, if I try to access it it gives a 404 error which is file not
    found.
    These problems do not occur in the original server which got created when i
    did the installation.
    Can someone help me out please.

    Hi.
    On reflection I believe this is normal behavior for WLS 6.x. In order to see
    changes to jsps (or other elements in the webapp) you need to either
    undeploy/redeploy the webapp via the console or the command line utility, or you
    can use the refresh utility if your webapp is deployed in the exploded directory
    format (ie not a war file).
    For docs on redeploying and refreshing from the command line see:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs61/webapp/deployment.html

  • What does servlet-name & jsp-file tags do...

    Could someone please tell me how does the following tags pair work, in a JSP/servlet based application.
    <servlet-name>Hellow</servlet-name>
    <jsp-file>/Appl/Jsp/process.jsp</jsp-file>
    What is the relationship between the Hellow and the /Appl/Jsp/process.jsp file
    Regards
    AN

    When you register a servlet in the deployment descriptor, you must always specify <servlet-name>. The other required parameter is EITHER <servlet-class> OR <jsp-file>. For a standard servlet, use <servlet-class>, for a JSP use <jsp-file>.
    Servlets are always registered, JSPs are not. The reason to register a JSP is to set other values such as <load-on-startup>. In this case, the JSP must be converted to a servlet before deployment.
    Read the servlet spec for a better and fuller description.

  • JSP/Servlets not working after upload

    I have a JSP file and some servlets that work fine on my PC running Tomcat.
    I just uploaded them to my web server (which supports servlets/jsp and has apache web server running), but they do not work. The jsp file does not run, it just displays the source code.
    Strangely, the support people at my server say the jsp files run ok when they view them. But when I view them from my browser it just shows source code.
    Do I need to configure something in my program? Or is it a server problem?

    Very hard to help without seeing the page - the answer is in the code  :-)
    Can you please point a link to your page?
    Are you sure you uploaded all the image files, and that the paths to the images are all correct?

  • OC4J infinity loop in javac.exe compiling JSP

    Hi,
    i have a very strange problem with OC4J 10.1.3.5.0 and one JSP page. It occurs under Windows/OC4J (dev environment) and under Linux/OAS (in production environment).
    I try to explain as best as possible.
    I have an application running OK in OC4J. In this application I have a simple JSP that contains very little java code, like this:
    <%@ include file="/wtn/gen/checkAccess.jsp" %>
    <%@page info="mySite.com"
            language="java"
            errorPage="/wtn/gen/error.jsp"
            import="java.util.Locale,
                    com.mySite.util.Util,
                    com.mySite.Const,
                    com.mySite.LoginBussines"%>
    <%
        boolean b1 = LoginBussines.isB1(request) ? true : false;
        String domain = LoginBussines.getDomain(request);
        String url = "";
        if (b1) {
           url = "/web/" + locale + "/home.html";
        } else {
           url = "/web/" + locale + "/index.html";
    %>
    <html>
      <head>
          <title>JSP Page</title>
          <% out.println("<meta http-equiv='REFRESH' content='0;url=http://" + domain + url + "' />"); %>
      </head>
      <body>
      </body>
    </html>Well, this JSP don't have any error and it works fine normally.
    Problem ocurred:
    When I delete the precompiled JSP from persistence/_pages for force .java generation and re-compilation, OC4J generate .java correctly and launch a javac.exe process for compile the servlet .java. This compilation through javac.exe don't finish, remain permanent running and the compilation of JSP does not finish.
    The web application remain sleep while javac.exe process perform ghost operations. Finally (after 5 minuts aprox.) the OC4J stop waiting and show blank page.
    The javac.exe remains alive in Operating System.
    *(strange) Cause:*
    I know the cause but I find no explanation :-(...
    The cause is the import of com.mySite.LoginBussines. This class is correctly (compiled by Eclipse and Ant) and run OK when is called from a servlet or another class running in OC4J. But when this class is imported in a JSP, the javac go crazy and remain try to compile permanently...
    *(very strange) Workaround:*
    When I delete any code line of this class (one or more, no matter), arbitrary line of any method in this Class, recompile class and try again, it's work fine!
    NOTE: the size of LoginBussines.class it's around 66.897 bytes. I don't know if it's relevant.
    Please, someone know what's going on? Someone has encountered this problem?
    Thank you so much!

    Robert,
    It appears that you have only installed the Java Runtime Environment (JRE). You need to install the Software Development Kit (SDK). Get version 1.4.2_05, since this is what your version of OC4J requires. Go to the following Web page
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html
    And look for the "Download J2SE SDK" link -- which appears below the heading:
    J2SE v 1.4.2_05 SDK
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • URGENT.........File Upload using Servlets and jsp

    I am a new servlet programmer.......
    iam using tomcat server......
    can any one pls help in writing code for file upload using servlets and jsp without using multipart class or any other class like that....
    Please URGENT..

    Slow down! "Urgent" is from your perspective alone. I, myself, am not troubled or worried in the least.
    hi ugniss
    thanks for ur reply....sorry i was not
    y i was not asked not to use multipart class or any
    other class like that...is there any other
    possibility to do file uploading from jsp to
    servlet...
    Just as an aside, a JSP is a Servlet. But even if I move beyond that, the question does not make sense. If you want a "JSP to upload to a Servlet", then simply do so in memory. You are still (likely) within the same scope of a given request. However, if instead you are referring to a JSP that is displayed on a browser, then really you are talking about HTML, which is what the browser will receive. And since you are now talking about a browser, your only real, viable option is a multi-part file upload. So, it is either server or it is browser. And either way, the question leads to very established options, as outlined above.
    the main concept is.. in the browser the user selects
    a particular file and clicks the button upload..after
    clicking upload the jsp should sent the file to the
    servlet in streams...there the servlet gets in and
    saves in a server location........this is wat i hav
    to do...
    Okay. So, after reading my previous (redundant) paragraph, we have arrived at the crux of the issue. You have a JSP that will be output as HTML to a client (browser) which you want to upload content to your server (handled by a Servlet). So, you are now stuck again with multi-part. The requirement to not use multi-part is non-sensical. You can overcome it, say, if you write your own applet or standalone Swing client. However, if your users are invoking this functionality from a browser, you are limited by the options that W3C has provided you. Use multi-part.
    is there aby possibilty to do this.....can any one
    pls help....Take the advice to download and review Jakarta Commons FileUpload. Inform your management that their requirement makes no technical sense. Research on your own. There are dozens of examples (and tutorials) on file upload using multi-part. Embrace it. Live it. Love it.
