OC4J support local ejb?

It seems OC4J does not support local ELB, as it complains the local-home tag with session tag.

Hi Patrick,
As far as I know, OC4J only partially implements EJB 2.0 -- it
doesn't implement local interfaces. However, there are several,
different versions available. Which version are you using?
If you haven't already found it, there is a version of the pet
store application available for download from:
http://technet.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/java/oc4j/content.html
but it's an implementation of the 1.1.2 version.
Hope this helps,
Avi.

  • Wls 6.1 with ejb 2.0 Does it support  Local Home Interface

    Hi,
    According to the document of wlogic server 6.1 sp2 for window,
    it supports EJB 2.0.
    When I built the bean(2.0 not 1.1) using local interfaces: EJBLocalObject and
    EJBLocalHome, they are successfully built fine, but when I deploy the Application
    they failed because of my interfaces did not "extends" EJBObject and EJBHome and
    java.rmi.RemoteException is required.
    When I extends the local interfaces the java.rmi.RemoteException will not be
    thrown (it is local)so it is not required but the weblogic 6.1 said it is required
    so I wonder the BEA WebLogic 6.1 sp2 supports the local interface.
    If it doesn't support Local interface, How could I do to get arround with this
    because Local interface is one of the new feature that talks in j2sdkee 1.3 with
    ejb2.0.
    Cheers,

    Thanks Rob

    Take a look at the examples/ejb20/bands. It demonstrates some EJBs with
    local
    interfaces in 6.1

  • Is there support for ejb local interface?

    Hi,
    Is there support for ejb local intefaces in JDev? By default it creates remote interfaces
    & I have to manually edit the interfaces as well as the ejb-jar.xml files.
    I am using JDev 9.0.2.
    Thanks in advance...
    Regards..

    Right. The aforementioned -migrate flag on the jdev or jdevw command line will migrate the IDE settings from your previous build.
    Other upgrade issues are handled automatically the first time you open a project and save it with the new version.

  • Help - using custom login module with embedded jdev oc4j to access ejb 3

    Hi All (Frank ??),
    I'm just wondering if anyone has successfully been able to leverage a custom login module in combination
    with a client that connects to a local EJB 3 stateless session bean through Jdeveloper 10.1.3.2's embedded oc4j.
    I have spent 2+ days trying to get this to work - and i think I resound now to the fact im going to
    have to deploy to oc4j standalone instead.
    I got close.. but finally was trumped with the following error from the client trying to access the ejb:-
    javax.naming.NoPermissionException: Not allowed to look up XXXXXX, check the namespace-access tag
    setting in orion-application.xml for details.
    Using the various guides available, I had no problem getting the custom login module working
    with a local servlet running from JDev's embedded oc4j.. however with ejb - no such luck.
    I have a roles table (possible values Member, Admin) - that maps to sr_Member and sr_Admin
    respectively in various config files.
    I'm using EJB 3 annotations for protecting methods .. for example
    @RolesAllowed("sr_Member")
    Steps that I had to do so far :-
    In <jdevhome>\jdev\system\oracle.jwee.10.1.3.40.66\embedded-oc4j\config\system-jazn-data.xml1) Add custom login module

    Thanks for the response. I checked out your blog and tried your suggestions. I'm sure it works well in standalone OC4J, but i was still unable to get it to function correctly from JDeveloper embedded.
    Did you ever get the code working directly from JDeveloper?
    Your custom code essentially seems to be the equivalent of a grant within system-jazn-data.xml.
    For example, the following grant to a custom jaas role (JAAS_ADMIN) that gets added by my custom login module gives them rmi login access :-
         <grant>
              <grantee>
                   <principals>
                        <principal>
                             <realm-name>jazn.com</realm-name>
                             <type>role</type>
                             <class>kr.security.principals.KRRolePrincipal</class>
                             <name>JAAS_Admin</name>
                        </principal>
                   </principals>
              </grantee>
              <permissions>
                   <permission>
                        <class>com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIPermission</class>
                        <name>login</name>
                   </permission>
              </permissions>
         </grant>If I add the following to orion-application.xml
      <!-- Granting login permission to users accessing this EJB. -->
      <namespace-access>
        <read-access>
          <namespace-resource root="">
            <security-role-mapping>
              <group name="JAAS_Admin"></group>
            </security-role-mapping>
          </namespace-resource>
        </read-access>Running a standalone client against the embedded jdev oc4j server gives the namespace-access error.
    I tried out your code by essentially creating a static reference to a singleton class that does the role lookup/provisioning with rmi login grant :-
    From custom login module :-
      private static KRSecurityHelper singleton = new KRSecurityHelper();
      protected Principal[] m_Principals;
        Vector v = new Vector();
          v.add(singleton.getCustomRmiConnectRole());
          // set principals in LoginModule
          m_Principals=(Principal[]) v.toArray(new Principal[v.size()]);
    Singleton class :-
    package kr.security;
    import com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIPermission;
    import java.util.logging.Level;
    import java.util.logging.Logger;
    import oracle.security.jazn.JAZNConfig;

            LOGPREFIX +"Cannot configure JAZN for remote connections");
      public RealmRole getCustomRmiConnectRole()
        return m_Role;
    }Using the code approach and switching application.xml across so that namespace access is for the group remote_connect, I get the following error from my bean :-
    INFO: Login permission not granted for current-workspace-app (test.user)
    Thus, the login permission that I'm adding through the custom remote_connect role does not seem to work. Even if it did, i'm pretty sure I would still get that namespace error.
    This has been such a frustrating process. All the custom login module samples using embedded JDeveloper show simple j2ee servlet protection based on settings in web.xml.
    There are no samples showing jdeveloper embedded oc4j using ejb with custom login modules.
    Hopefully the oc4j jdev gurus like Frank can write a paper that demonstrates this.
    Matt.

  • Does OC4J support RMI/IIOP connections ?

    Hi,
    I have only one question :
    Does OC4J support IIOP connections ?
    I'd like to connect as EJB client to OLAPService on Oracle9i server (CORBA object), but I can't.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your timely post Debu.
    I would like to state that I read and followed the guides (same files as those ponted by the links you just provided) and tried this:
    1. Sample J2EE Application using ORMI in OC4J Standalone (this works ok)
    2. Same but now using ORMIS (this also works fine)
    3. Tried same J2EE App using IIOP; took these steps:
    3.1 commented out the rmi.xml security lines,
    3.2 enabled ports in internal-settings.xml,
    3.3 changed the jndi.properties - now using corbaname URL,
    3.4 enabled the IIOP stub generation in the JVM settings at oc4j startup, and finally
    3.5 deployed the EAR using the generateIIOP flag.
    The result: the exception I posted above
    4. Tried with IIOP/SSL, did these steps:
    4.1 configured the keystore settings in both internal-settings.xml and ejb_sec.properties
    4.2 and added <ior-security-config> config elements to orion-ejb-jar.xml.
    The exception here is a little bit different:
    client started...

  • Very Urgent !!! Exception in looking up Local EJB from Servlet in WSAD 5.1

    Hi,
    I have a servlet and a local EJB. The servlet and EJB are deployed on same application server but in different J2EE applications i.e. different EAR files.
    When I lookup an EJB with remote interfaces from servlet everything works fine. But when I try to lookup EJB with local interfaces from
    Servlet I get following Exception.
    Exception Stack: -

    The ejb spec only defines local ejb access within the same application. It's possible some app servers support access from a different application but it wouldn't be portable, nor would it work within the J2EE SDK or Sun Java System App Servers. To access a local ejb from a web component or ejb , define an ejb-local-ref in the client component's standard .xml file (web.xml or ejb-jar.xml) and use the ejb-link element to specify the ejb-name of the target ejb.

  • Local EJBs in Weblogic 12c

    Hi - We are in the process of migrating our applications from Weblogic 10.3 to 12c. Due to legacy nature of the application, it's still using EJB 2.x
    Can somebody please let us know if Weblogic 12c fully supports EJB 2.x APIs and specifications. We are having some local EJBs in the code too. Would there be any potential issues migrating any local/remote EJBs or is it supposed to work out of the box?
    Note: We have already gone through the article http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24329_01/web.1211/e24446/compatibility.htm#INTRO112 and have modified our EJBs to use EJBGen annotations. We have also run our EJBs through 12c appc and it does not report any such errors.
    Thanks!

    I guess the local JNDI name will be visible only when you look up from the
    same .ear scoped applications. It will not be visible in the global JNDI
    tree (applications outside of the .ear cannot access the bean as it is
    local).
    I am not sure what you refer by testing via console. If you want to access
    the bean from a different application (another .jar or .war which is not
    part of a .ear), then you should use remote views instead of local views.

    Hi.
    There isn't any error message in the server log. It says that deployment
    is sucessful.
    The message that appears when I try to test the EJB in the console is:
    "There was a problem determining the JNDI Name of the given bean."
    Thanks

  • Challenge: call local ejb from remote ejb on weblogic 9.2

    Hi ALL,
    How do I call to local ejb from remote ejb object. The jar file is deployed on weblogic server 9.2, if you want get it http://geocities.yahoo.com.br/lindembe/BEAProject.jar and the source code are http://geocities.yahoo.com.br/lindembe/BEAProject.zip. It is a sample app with two ejb that works so good on JBOSS, JOnAS, but BEA Weblogic.....
    The complete problem you watch http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=768718&messageID=4387570#4387570
    or
    http://forums.bea.com/bea/message.jspa?messageID=600043148&tstart=0

    Your code in SigemFacadeBean should just do:
    InitialContext ctx = new InitialContext();
    when you lookup the local EJB. (This will work on all app servers. There's no need to put an app-server specific intial context factory in your code.)
    Also, you can remove the jndi-name setting for the local ejb from your weblogic-ejb-jar.xml. jndi-name is only applied to remote ejbs.

  • How to create a local EJB 3.0 and execute in JDeveloper?

    Hello guys!
    I'm brand new with EJB 3.0.
    I would like to know how can I create a @Local EJB and a client in JDeveloper?
    It's was ease to create a @Remote EJB and the sample java client, how can I do same to @Local EJB?
    I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0.3914
    Thanks in advance.

    Creating a @Local EJB is just as easy, just replace the @Remote by @Local, or checkmark local in the EJB wizard.
    You can create a client for a @Local EJB, as local methods aren't available outside the EJB container, that's why they are called local. A test client doesn't run in the ejb container, and therefor cannot access the local ejb methods.
    If you want to test the local methods of an ejb, you should create another ejb which calls the first.

  • A problem determining the JNDI Name of a local EJB with WL 8.1

    Hi,
    I created a very simple local EJB and deployed it with Weblogic8.1. When I test
    it in the Weblogic server admin page, I got the following message:
    "The EJB MyLocal has not been tested successfully. There was a problem determining
    the JNDI Name of the given bean."
    Can anyone help figure out the problem?
    Thanks
    Henry

    Does the ejb have a target server specified?
    Does the Ejb have a Jndi binding as specified in the <local-jndi-name></local-jndi-name>
    element of weblogic-ejb-jar.xml?
    thanks,
    Deepak

  • Fail to lookup the local EJB by JNDI in Managed Server

    Hi all,
    I currently in a deep problem, and can't figure out the cause of it. It just annoying me for week.
    In my app, I have binded to the local ejb to JNDI (let's say "ejb/CustomerLocal"), then the client lookup the Local EJB by the following code.
    localIc = new InitialContext();
    home = (EJBLocalHome)localIc.lookup("ejb/CustomerLocal");
    It works well as I do development in the Domain Admin Server. However, when I do the System Integration Test and deploy my app to the managed server, the app fail. It just can't do the Local EJB lookup. Following is the exception.
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Unable to resolve 'ejb/CustomerLocal' Resolved ejb[Root exc
    eption is javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Unable to resolve 'ejb.CustomerLocal' Resolved ejb
    ]; remaining name CustomerLocal'
    Does anybody know the cause of it and have solution?
    Thanks a lot

    Hi,
    Just now I replicated the same problem what you are facing. I created one managed server. When I deployed my ejb to admin server I did not get any problem. But when I deploy the same into my managed server I got Naming Exception. Because I did n/t specify Context.PROVIDER_URL. A provider URL contains bootstrap server information that the initial context factory can use to obtain an initial context. So when you deploy EJB on another server, you have to get the Naming service from that server. Hence provider URL must pointing to that server. So I included following statements before lookup my ejb in managed server.
    Properties p=new Properties ();
    p.put (Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    p.put (Context.PROVIDER_URL,"t3://localhost: 7003");
    Context ctx=new InitialContext (p);
    FacadeHome home=(FacadeHome) ctx.lookup ("ejb/CustomerLocal");
    In my case managed server port number is 7003. Now onwards managed server (Port number 7003) will provide ‘Naming Service’, not by admin server (port number 7001), which is default.
    Note: Context.PROVIDER_URL— specifies the URL of the WebLogic Server that provides the name service. The default is t3://localhost: 7001. When you are not specified it will assume that POVIDER_URL is t3://localhost: 7001 this is nothing but your admin server in your case. However, a JNDI client may need to access a name space other than the one identified in its environment. In this case, it is necessary to explicitly set the java.naming.provider.url (provider URL) property used by the InitialContext constructor.
    I hope it helps.

    Kuldeep Singh.

  • Unable to find Local Ejb home in websphere 6.0

    Its really anoying as am unable to guess . I am invoking an EJB locally using code as below . The Ejb works fine while testing with UniversalTestClient However when i try to invoke it from my Client it gives jndi error.
    Am using RAD 6.0 IDE and WebSphere6.0 and Ejb 2.1
    I tried calling ejb providing different jndi names as below but it doesn't work .
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.ibm.websphere.naming.WsnInitialContextFactory");
    env.put (Context.PROVIDER_URL, "corbaloc:iiop:localhost:2809/");
    try{
    InitialContext icontext = new InitialContext(env);
    // Object result = icontext.lookup("local:ejb/DefaultSession");
    // Object result = icontext.lookup("D7VRC491Node01Cell/nodes/D7VRC491Node01/servers/server1/TestEj b/ejb/com/test/ejbs/DefaultSessionLocalHome");
    // Object result = icontext.lookup("local:ejb/ejb/com/test/ejbs/DefaultSessionLocalHome");
    Object result = icontext.lookup("ejb/com/dhsmv/ejbs/DefaultSessionLocalHome");
    DefaultSessionLocalHome localHome = (DefaultSessionLocalHome) result;
    DefaultSessionLocal localSession = (DefaultSessionLocal) localHome.create();
    String strTest = localSession.welcome(" Hello World ");
    System.out.println(" Retrieved ejb method ..." + strTest);
    I get an exception that first component of jndi name is not available. Please suggets where is the problem hiding. Is there any thing wrong with jndi name .
    Thanks.

    The CORBA error could suggest your bootstrap port is already being used by another process. Try changing it to something else.
    Assuming your webconsole works - its something like this (although off the top of my head can't be sure...)
    Select servers from the menu on the left, then select, your server.
    From the newly loaded page, on the right hand side, you should see a link called "Ports". Modify your bootstrap port, usual value is 2809.
    How does that work?

  • Simple Browser which support locally saved html file having Marquee text

    I want simple java browser in which I can run locally saved html file having marquee text in it.
    My requirement is to show html file in Oracle forms.For that i need JAR Files of that browser which support html file(locally saved & support marque text).
    Because i use several browser which support locally html file but not support marque text.These browser display static html file not marque text in it.
    Can anybody help me.
    Regards

    1. There is no reliable way of guessing the encoding of a file without that information. Thats why XML for example has very strict rules wrt. it's encoding (short form: use UTF-8 or UTF-16, if you use anything else, you'll have to specify it)
    2. you might be able to make an educated guess if the possible range of encodings is limited, but it will probably never be 100% certain
    3. The HTML file might have a header entry "<meta http-equiv..." that tells you about it's encoding. You could try to read the start of the file and see if you find that, then if you found it re-read the entire file.

  • Using Local EJB obect in web container that installed in on the same Web AS

    we can use the local ejb object in the application that runs in same JVM.
    The Web Container and EJB Container run in the same JVM when Web AS installed as Minimum Cluster Installation(one cluster node).
    But, what happened if we install the Web AS as Large Cluster Installation? Can we still use the local ejb objects in the Web Container?
    Best regards,
    Raja
    Message was edited by: Raja Nasrallah

    Hi Raja,
    Yes you can. When you use local EJB objects there's no remote communication and the web container will find them in the EJB container of the local cluster node. For the application providers this is transparent - they shouldn't care about the configuration of the cluster.
    Best regards,
    Vladimir
