OCR in UCM

How can i search a text value on an image file?? Does UCM have this ability or we use third party programs?

Hi,
We have an option to read text characters (not handwritten) using OCR:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10316_01/capture/OracleDocumentCaptureAdminGuide.pdf
Refer to page 324 in this.
Hope this helps.
Thanks

  • OCR support in Oracle UCM

    Can we integrate Oracle UCM with any OCR to capture data? if yes, how, is there any document available?
    thanks!

    thanks! this document has some details about OCR implementation. In case you have already implemented it before, Can you please give me some high level effort estimation ( in man days) to implemented OCR feature with oracle UCM?

  • Using text files to commit in UCM trough ODC

    Hello all.
    Again I'm here trying to do something not that common in ODC. So let me explain what I want, OK?
    EDIT: I forgot my specs:
    We're using a VM in Vmware Workstation, with Windows 7 64bits. 80gb HD and 2gb RAM.
    Using Oracle DB 11gR2 and ODC 10.3.5.
    1 - we already opened a ticket with Oracle Support, the number is:      SR 3-6108348211. It was closed but we reopened. Until now there is no answer.
    2 - we have many files and want to do a test: which is better for commiting files to UCM, ODC or Batch Loader? We know that Batch Loader is the usual one, but maybe there is some speed improvement in checkin using ODC.
    3 - we will get the images from a folder, send them to ODC, them the ODC will commit them to UCM, but (here's the catch) sending all the metadata of all those files and being pdf-searchable too.
    4 - so I'll put some screens here, showing what I did, OK?
    4.1- In this screen I show all the metadata we need ship to UCM. In the left column are the metadata fields and in the right, values.
    http://imgur.com/QkqxA
    4.2 - In a folder, we put all the images and a text file containing all the metadata referring to the images. As the Oracle Support says, the text file should have these lines.:
    C:\Users\oracle\Desktop\import_folder\import1.bmp|4545|Joaozinho|15/15/2015|Import1|11.11
    C:\Users\oracle\Desktop\import_folder\import2.bmp|7878|Augusta|16/16/2006|Import2|22.22
    C:\Users\oracle\Desktop\import_folder\import3.bmp|00001|Gump|07/07/1997|Import3|333.33
    C:\Users\oracle\Desktop\import_folder\import4.bmp|3232|Filipinho|08/08/2008|Import4|99.66
    C:\Users\oracle\Desktop\import_folder\import5.bmp|7968|Maria Antonia|15/12/1985|Import5|88.99
    C:\Users\oracle\Desktop\import_folder\import6.bmp|56563|Coloral|07/08/1999|Import6|22.33
    The first part is the image path, the second its name, the third the odc_Numero field value, the fourth the odc_Nome field value, the fifth the odc_Data field value, the sixth odc_Assunto field value and the last one is odc_Valor field value. All these values need to go to UCM, along with the images.
    4.3 - So I put all the images and text file in the folder.
    http://imgur.com/o8znD
    4.4 - I didn't checked OCR zones in the images, all the metadata values will come from the text field, because the images sometimes cannot be trusted on the values (bad scan, old text, etc).
    4.5 - I open the Import Server and did this config:
    http://imgur.com/t0xh1
    http://imgur.com/PPJGO
    http://imgur.com/RWKfU
    http://imgur.com/v5P5V
    4.6 - I open the commit server and let it in the background, but not doing any batch jobs, just paused.
    4.7 - And I got all these errors:
    http://imgur.com/lCtql
    EDIT: I get this error when opening the import server, just after the login:
    http://imgur.com/YB9qe
    So here are my questions:
    1 - what printer is the ODC needing?
    2 - the files will be already converted to PDF, I just want to convert them to pdf-searchable, using the text file containing all metadata and send them to UCM. Is it possible?
    3 - is there a guide teaching how to do this?
    4 - am I doing it right?
    Sorry for the long post, but this an urgent test.
    Thanks (seriously, a lot) for all the help and guidance.

    Hello Jiri.
    Thank you for your answer.
    Let me answer your questions (I'm using Windows XP this time, both we are working in 7, too):
    - while working with the ODC desktop application, you
    i. define a file cabinet (which also defines index fields, optionally batch statuses, and commit profiles)
    -- I did, these are the fields I've defined for this test
    http://imgur.com/7FyRW
    ii. define a scan profile
    -- Here are the configs for my scan profile
    http://imgur.com/Jyfvh
    http://imgur.com/tveQZ
    iii. define an indexing profile (which also defines index fields the profile will work with, incl. auto-populate)
    -- Here are the configs
    http://imgur.com/sMW7Q
    http://imgur.com/O6Bpl
    http://imgur.com/aqYmU
    http://imgur.com/lGrIn
    http://imgur.com/MeKAz
    http://imgur.com/t5r0i
    http://imgur.com/oco5S
    iv. scan an image (using the scan profile) AND v. index the scanned image (using the indexing profile)
    -- I did that. And works ok. I've used OCR zones sometimes and the scan worked. Sometimes I didn't and it worked OK, too. Commit to UCM in both cases worked. Here is an example:
    http://imgur.com/rp3jI
    http://imgur.com/ZS7FB
    http://imgur.com/cHhjC
    * Now we go to another part:
    ii'. define the import batch job
    -- I've defined in here.
    http://imgur.com/hfEdR
    http://imgur.com/eKsyJ
    http://imgur.com/Kbt5R
    http://imgur.com/1azWe
    http://imgur.com/JqbFI
    http://imgur.com/IkCww
    And after all these configs, when I click in "Activate", to make the batch job active the application closes (in Windows 7 it crashes). When I change to "Import from folder" rather than "Import from list file" I get these messages:
    http://imgur.com/1WAMn
    http://imgur.com/oz5ZL
    Still, the other way is to provide metadata in a List File. The List File is processed directly by Import - and if you define that you want to commit right away Import will try to do it for you, but it can succeed only if it has all the necessary index fields. The error you are getting indicates that something is wrong - it can be that some field is missing, or all the fields are missing (List File could not be parsed).
    -- Yes. It is that I want. I don't need to check barcodes at all. I just need to get all the field values from a list file. Here are the contents:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrador\Desktop\import_folderimport1.bmp|4545|Joaozinho|15/15/2015|Import1|11.11
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrador\Desktop\import_folderimport2.bmp|7878|Augusta|16/16/2006|Import2|22.22
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrador\Desktop\import_folderimport3.bmp|00001|Gump|07/07/1997|Import3|333.33
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrador\Desktop\import_folderimport4.bmp|3232|Filipinho|08/08/2008|Import4|99.66
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrador\Desktop\import_folderimport5.bmp|7968|Maria Antonia|15/12/1985|Import5|88.99
    C:\Documents and Settings\Administrador\Desktop\import_folderimport6.bmp|56563|Coloral|07/08/1999|Import6|22.33
    Thanks again.
    If you could try and say what I am doing wrong you'll help me a lot.

  • How Can I call a UCM service from SOAP request

    Hi,
    I have created one custom service and I would like to call that service from 3rd Party system via SOAP call. The 3rd Party system does not have the capability to call through RIDC.
    Now I have exposed my service and tried to call but authentication exception was coming status code 401.
    So I created one sample ADF application and tried to call the DocInfo service for testing (I thought let's try DocInfo then I will check my custom service). I downloaded the DocInfo service from UCM and  uploaded the WSDL into the project and got the client DocInfoSoapClient.java file.
    public class DocInfoSoapClient
      @WebServiceRef
      private static DocInfo docInfo;
      public static void main(String [] args)
        docInfo = new DocInfo();
        DocInfoSoap docInfoSoap = docInfo.getDocInfoSoap();
        DocInfoByNameResult res = docInfoSoap.docInfoByName("TEST_001603", null);
        System.out.println(res.getContentInfo());
        // Add your code to call the desired methods.
    The error is coming like:
    Exception in thread "main" com.sun.xml.ws.client.ClientTransportAccessException: The server sent HTTP status code 401: Unauthorized: http://xxxxxxxx:16200/_dav/cs/idcplg
      at com.sun.xml.ws.transport.http.client.HttpTransportPipe.getClientTransportException(HttpTransportPipe.java:340)
    I tried a lot but same error. There should be some process by which I can send the userid and password but failed. Even I tried to send the properties as key value pair in IdcPropertyList but I know that is wrong.
    I checked the Issue: https://community.oracle.com/thread/2424460
    But there was no answer.
    Can anyone help on it?
    Regards,
    Santanu

    Hi Santanu,
    You need to write SoapHandler in order to pass username and pwd. You will need 2 classes namely HeaderHandlerResolver & SoapHandler. This is how i do in in my JAX-WS clients. I generate stubs and then attach handler to webserviceinterface
    PFA HeaderHandlerResolver.java and SoapHandler.java you would attach soap handler something like this in your code i have never done this via ADF so not sure.
    HeaderHandlerResolver soapHandlerResolver = new HeaderHandlerResolver();
    docInfo.setHandlerResolver(soapHandlerResolver);
    In SoapHandler class you will mention username and pwd like this
    soapMessageContext.put(BindingProvider.USERNAME_PROPERTY,"username");
    soapMessageContext.put(BindingProvider.PASSWORD_PROPERTY,"pwd");

  • Error while importing N Accounts to 1 Address with UCM Batch Manager

    Hi,
    I got a problem with importing Accounts using the UCM Batch Manager. Previous steps were loading the EIM Tables EIM_UCM_ORG and EIM_UCM_ADRPER. To associate addresses I used the column EIM_UCM_ADRPER.PAR_UCM_ACCNT_UID. No errors occured during an Enterprise Integration Mgr jobs to load the data into SDH tables.
    The error described below occurs if I have N Accounts using one Address. Example:
    h5. Account Name --> City --> Postal Code --> State --> Street
    Account #1 --- Munich --- 80331 --- N/A --- Some Street 1
    Account #2 --- Munich --- 80331 --- N/A --- Some Street 1

    I have selected the option
    Add new metadata and replace existing objetcs. But it is not importing. Also I tried other options like
    1. deleting the existing mapping and tried.
    2. Putting the mapping in recycle bin and try.
    3. Take it from recycle bin.Even during taking it from recycle it is giving me the following error .
    Error occurred importing mapping

  • UCM workflow: Unable to capture the reject event.

    Hi guys,
    We are using UCM 11.1.1.5
    We want to customize our workflow with 3 stages. If a particular user rejects the workflow, we want to display a error message and abort the reject action.
    hence we wrote under the Entry event of the previous stage as follows
    <$if wfAction like "REJECT"$>
    <$abortToErrorPage("Sorry you cannot reject this stage.")$>
    <$endif$>
    But we found that the script was not triggered when a user clicks on Reject button. Is there anyway we can capture the Reject Action?
    Is it a bug in UCM 11.1.1.5? Anybody faced similar problem.
    Please help us
    THanks & Regards
    Jacob

    hi,
    Unfortunately I don't have the solution as I also am facing the same issue. You can also follow my thread here at the forum. Search for "workflow issue using wfAction" here at the forum.
    Have you tried to run the test under the Test tab and what results do you get?

    Any body have any idea.

    If you are using apex, you have access to the wwv_flow_web_services package that has all the procs you need to made this work. If not, you can use flex_ws_api, which, although a bit out of date, should still work. This can be found at: http://jastraub.blogspot.com/2009/11/flexwsapi-no-on-samplecodeoraclecom.html
    Hopefully this will get you the start you need. Don't forget soapUI. This has proved to be invaluable in my development just to prove something works. It becomes a very easy way when I keep hearing, "UCM doesn't work....".

  • How do I use the OCR feature in Acrobat 9?

    Does Acrobat 9 have the OCR feature?  If so, where do I find it?  In Acrobat 8, one would go to Document, OCR Text Recognition, Recognize Test Using OCR, OK.  I specifically want to know how to apply OCR to a scanned document in order to use the Find feature.

    Simple. go to DOCUMENT, and then select OCR TEXT RECOGNITION.

  • How can I use applescript for OCR of a bunch of files - with Acrobat XI?

    Hi there,
    Iwant to write a script (eg applescript) that can be used as a droplet or has a menu to open a folder of scanned pdf-files to conduct OCR. And - I want to use Acrobat XI (as this is my version), German verison.
    As Acrobat XI is not recordable with the applescript-editor and I do not find a manual of objects and methods I googled a script that worked with Acrobat 9 but not with Acrobat XI. Here you define a "Action Assistant"-Script e.g. called "OCR this" and "click" the item. But as in Acrobat XI this Item is noch in the main-sbubmenu anymore it seems not to work.
    Here is a Screenshot:
    And this is theapplescrpt, tha opens the "Aktionsassistent":
    click the menu item "Aktionsassistent" of menu "Werkzeuge" of menu item "Werkzeuge" of menu "Anzeige" of menu bar item "Anzeige" of menu bar 1
    Butr then I cannot reach "OCR this".
    If any body has a hint - either for clicking "OCR this" or to sript  an OCR on an opened pdf.file with applescript this would be great.
    Thanks,
    Maritn

    AppleScript is documented in the Acrobat SDK. But there is no method for this.

  • UCM 10gR3 installation problem on Solaris

    Hi,
    I have a problem installing Oracle Content Server 10gR3. When I run the setup script:
    *$ cd <path>/UCM/ContentServer/solaris-x86/*
    *$ ./setup.sh*
    I get the following error:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Installer
    I am running Solaris 10 on VirtualBox, and I have Oracle Database 10gR2 Installed. JDK 1.5.0_20 is installed with Solaris, but I have tried different JDK's, with no use.
    I tried setting the CLASSPATH environment variable to ".;/usr/jdk/latest/lib;/usr/jdk/latest/jre/lib", and running the script again, but I got the same result.
    Any Ideas?
    Thanks in Advance.

  • How to Scan a Paper Doc & Convert It with OCR to a Word Processing Format

    In an effort to save others with a similar need some time, I am posting a simple method of using he iPhone to scan a document and convert it, using optical character resolution, to an editable word processing format, usable on computers or iPhones and Android smartphones - all with free apps.  I found no free one-stop-shopping apps that did the job themselves.
    To begin, use the DocScan app to scan the paper document. this results in an Acrobat file (pdf).  If the document is already in pdf form, move on to the next step.
    Next, upload the pdf file to your Google Drive workspace, which automatically puts it through an OCR conversion, Google Drive automatically recognizes the text within pdf files uploaded from iPhones.
    Then open the file within Google Drive, select Open In and choose the Able2Extract app.
    Select the pdf file in Able2Extract and convert it to an MS Word (docx) file, which can be opened by Pages, Word or other word processing programs.  It can also be converted to a spreadsheet or presentation MS Office format.
    Finally, transfer the new docx file to the Documents app, the Dropbox app or another storage app, from which a word processing program can access it for editing.
    Many apps, including Able2Extract, convert all types of files into pdf format when going the reverse direction.

    Good day Larry,
    Are you referring to CreatePDF's ability to export existing PDF files to Word?  I want to confirm as Adobe CreatePDF doesn't have any sort of interface with scanners.
    Let me know a bit more about how you're creating your PDF files and then how you're using the CreatePDF service and I may be able to answer your question (or at least try!)
    Kind regards,
    David

  • Upload to Google Drive ignores my "Do not OCR" setting

    I love the HP AiO app on my iPhone. I use it to scan all my snailmail, which helps a lot with my personal administration.
    However, when I scan a document to PDF and then upload that PDF to Google Drive, I get a file with a .pdf.gdoc extension, which attempts to OCR my document. While this can be useful, there are also documents like a diploma, passport etc that I want to keep as PDF files. My Google Drive settings are configured to not perform any OCR nor to try to convert a PDF to a Google Doc. But it looks like the app ignores these settings. Would it be possible to fix this?

    Hi zeptimius, welcome to the HP Forums. I understand when you scan PDF files, and save them to Google Drive it is being OCR'd regardless of your setting on Google Drive to not OCR.
    I am not certain how Google processes these documents, but I suggest you scan somewhere else to see if it ends up being OCR'd. This will tell you if the OCR option is being done before getting to Google Drive. If it does not, then you would have to contact Google to ask how to prevent this undesirable action.
    Let me know what you come up with.

  • How to create a report of users in ucm about their roles and permission

    Hi All ,
    I need to create a report and it should contain all the users in ucm as well as their roles and permissions. Basically the report would be for the admin who can see all the users in a single report and can know about the roles and access of each and every users.
    How to create such report ?? I have tried from web layuot editor but the default report template i.e stdUserReport in user datasource does not contain more than three fields..Is there any method to get such kind of report???
    Please suggest!!

    There was an example component to demonstrate this kind of function. Under Stellent in version 7.5
    I do not know if they hand it out anymore but it is not on the standard samples page for Oracle. You may want to open a Support SR to ask for it. It should still be around in their servers if they can get permission to hand it out as a sample again.
