OCX problem

Hi there!
I have received a file from a dealer with a .dll extension.
I tried to use it as a dll and managed to hook up to it
but could not access the functions and variables inside.
We contacted the dealers and they informed us that it
was in fact an OCX file. We slapped down an ActiveX
component on our canvas aon great was our joy when
we could see it immediately.
So far any attempt to change the variables or use the
functions in this file was unsuccesful as it has no user
interface. Only the functions and vars sitting in it.
We have tried everything we could possible think of and
as his is new to us, we think maybe we did not try
every possible solution.
Could anybody please give us some pointers?
Thank you very much in advance!

Have you tried the ole-importer ?
Select the activeX component on the canvas and go to the program
menu and select ole-importer. This will make some packages
within your form to control it

  • Flash10a.ocx problem, causes IE to Close. HELP!

I have been getting this message frequently:
Internet Explorer has experienced a problem with an add-on
    and needs to close.
The following add-on was running when this problem occurred:
    Add-on Name: Flash10a.ocx
    Company Name: Adobe Systems Incorporated
    Description: Adobe Flash Player
The message pops up, and it then closes and restarts Internet
    Explorer.
What is causing this, and how can I fix it?
    Thanks so much!

Let's see now..."Internet Explorer has encountered a problem
with an add-on and needs to close..." for "Flash10a.ocx". This
    occurs on Windows 2000, Windows XP SP1, SP2, SP3, can't confirm
Vista, but others do here as well and on IE6, IE7 and IE8 and not
on Firefox and ver9 caused no such issues.
Ver10 included very important security updates...apparently
designed to crash your system(s) and cause your company money in
wasted IT time. No comment or fix at all in over 3-months now.
I plan to talk to IT at my company and see about reverting
all systems to 9.x and/or blocking all flash related content at the
hardware firewall level as we do Bittorrent and other crap. Let's
see how they react when their partners are informed that over
20,000 people can no longer see their advertisements and if we can
get it to cascade to other companies and if they fix it before
their customers lynch them for eliminating or pissing off their
    customers customers or target audience.
Never thought I'd see the day when Adobe is so lazy and
sloppy and insensitive that they make M$ look like a saint.
Unrelated I am also sick of their stupid Adobe Reader eating up
tons memory and crashing itself or the system...on a 4GB
workstation (3GB available). Do you guys have any programmers left
that know anything or did you outsource them are are partying on an
    island with AIG execs?
Fix it or prepare to feel it in your bottom line...I've had
it with you lazy software companies that for upgrades that cause
    more issues than they resolve!

UPDATE: Apparently Flash10b aka Flash Player 10.0.22.87 was
released on Feb24, 2009 to pretty quiet fanfare...if you look
closely you will find it VERY hard to see any mention of actual
FIXES besides critical security enhancement...until you dig deeper
and find the actual change log which lists
The following issues have been fixed in Flash Player
    10.0.22.87:
    • Flash Player 10 crashes in IE7 due to the use of a
dynamic TextField as a mask on another display object when the
field set to anti-alias for readability. (FP-1238/2256938)
    • A sound stream error #2032 will cause the playback of
a separate stream to stop playback. (FP-910/2251944)
    • Japanese text mojibake (garbled) at Input Text in
    Flash 5 swf. (2223727)
    • Ming created file does not play in Flash Player 10 in
    any browser. (FP-769/2217038)
    • FileReference.save() can save invalid Windows
filename like "sticky." so users are never able to delete.
    (2202963)
    • Setting bitmap width/height before super() crashes
    player. (FP-760/2216975)
    • Audio is scratchy with static/streamed with sample
    rate greater than 44kHz. (FP-862/2216961)
    • Seeking H264 video on the first few frames causes IE
    to crash. (FP-913/2216957)
    • Fullscreen in Flash Player 10 hangs with Flex 3
    horizontal slider. (FP-812/2216948)
    • Matrix3D AS3 class implementation is difficult to use
    for general math. (2216936)
    • The Origin header should be put on the banned headers
    list. (2202975)
    • Using drawingAPI2 in certain conditions when the
Shape is not yet on the displayList can crash. (FP-761/2202966)
    • Adding 2 vectors with float4 input and output
    produces incorrect result. (2202964)
    • Attempting to install to a non-C:\ drive results in

    • Fix AS APIs' inconsistent handling of NaN parameters
    on different platforms. (FP-612,FP-903, FP-964/2200454)
    • SampleDataEvent playback in IE7 window crashes
browser when new Flash window displayed. (FP-985/1935068)

    (2262898)
    • Japanese characters are mojibake when they are
entered into an input text filed on the Mac Player. (FP-40/2269305)
Yes I'm sure 6 IE related Crash fixes are all "security"
related;) Geez...you guys must also think we are only in a minor
economic downturn too. The supidiest thing is that if you go here
    for support:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/
It IRONICALLY claims that, "SUPPORT ALERT Do you have
problems installing or running Adobe® Flash® Player for
Internet Explorer? Most of these problems can be attributed to
Windows Registry permission issues. See our technical documents on
Flash Player and Windows Registry permission errors."
    REALLY...REALLY?!?
Is that why sys admin and hackers (original
definition...computer whiz types) gave detailed issues on
IE6/IE7/IE8 conflicts everywhere including here many times and then
suddenly you sneak in 6-IE related fixes and add such a silly claim
to your support page. Look at the forum message here for some
reality check and PLEASE stop having MARKETING or THE LAWYERS write
all you documentation. Most of us just want stuff fixed and to know
when stuff has bee addressed or fixed....OK!

  • Flash10b.ocx problem

This is only on 1 PC and 1 website (as far as I can tell)   My husband's laptop can access it without problems. Our OS's, IE, & Flash are all the same versions. I've tried reinstalling Flash, no luck.
I'm running Vista Home Premium with IE7. However, I also tried IE8 and Firefox (current version?) Same problem.
Here's the page, and it only happens when I click to type in my password. Remember, this works on my H's laptop.
I get the pop-up from Internet Exporer:
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to close.
The following add-on was running when this problemm occured:

    Thanks for your information.
On Saturday night,  We changed 1 setting in 5 training classes.  Mulitple websites seemed to indicate this changed may help.  To note, you can not do this via action script or using parameters in the html object tag.  Not sure why, it would be nice if they included into the object tags?
Anyhow...These 5 training classes are the most frequently hit courses and would create a nice composite for checking the problem.
if the problem (flash crashing) starts to shrink, trend higher or stay the same.
The setting "Script time Limit" is defaulted to 15 seconds.
I raised it to be 60 on these training courses.
Do not know if it will help at all.  I wait for feedback and statistics from our computer labs.
To note: Our training courses are setup in a Shell which "pull in" other SWF, MP3, XML,FLV and JPG files.  The shell's timeline is stopped while a child SWF is playing.  Which has always seem to work fine and continues to work on 97% of computers.  But based on the "FLASH PLAYER" requiring the timeline to be updated or else it errors out.  Could be the problem....
    Thinking outloud:
In other words,  another website explained it to me as Looping conditions are fine as long as the "Timeline" has been updated at least 1x in 15 seconds.  Not sure if this is true,  but it is my interpretation so far. These is strange considering the fact "Audio" can play continously via action sript with out ever updating the timeline (swithing to a different frame).  So if this was the case, "Flash" would crash consistently every 15 seconds.
SO now my question is.  "What does the Flash Player consider as 'updating the timeline'"?
    ========================================================================================== ======
Can anyone explain in simple words what the script time limit exactly is?
the time limit for code that starts to execute and then continues to execute
without allowing the stage to update.
    ========================================================================================== ======
Here is something else i found:
Your issue made me think of race conditions. Andrew Rapo and Alex Michael speak of "race conditions" in their book Understanding Macromedia Flash 8.0 Actionscript 2: basic techniques for creatives (2006, Focal Press).
Here is how the authors explain it:
    Quote:
The term, 'race condition,' refers to the situatio where instructions will produce different results when executed in a different order, and teh order of execution is inconsistent. Race conditions can produce intermittent bugs (errors), and these are the hardest to track down and fix. (page 46)
They go on to explain that the ability to employ multiple timelines makes race conditions more likely in Flash applications. To avoid race conditions:
    Quote:
The only solution is to entralize the important code and have all of the varioius MovieClips and event handlers report back to an authoritative "application controller".

    Another blog  I found
    http://blog.justgreat.nl/2007/08/24/joy-with-the-script-timeout-period/comment-page-1/
Just great; I forgot to mention HOW to set the timeout . Well here is how:
You can’t set the timeoutperiod by code (neither in as3 nor in as2). You have to set the timeout manually in the publish settings of your fla: Ctrl+Shift+F12 > flash-tab > “Script time limit”.

  • OCX problems Using Designer 2.1 to Generate VB 5.0/6.0

We are using Designer 2.1 to Generate VB 5.0 which we are

into problems with the controls gauge32.ocx and threed32.ocx. We
retrieved copies of the ocxs, but we can't put them on our NT

I've seen documentation that indicates we need Oracle Objects
    also, is this true?
Any information on any issue relating to VB 5.0/6.0 generation
out of Designer would be appreciated!

    Hi (Miss?) Donna,
You need to install Oracle OLE 2 Object which is accompanied with
Oracle Server for Win NT or Oracle Developer disks. In addition,
to run apps generated as VB 5/6 apps by Designer/2000 , you need
some legacy OCXs, which are placed on controls directory of VB
    5/6 installation directory.

  • Flash8b.ocx problems with IE

I've been looking at the various forums but no idea how to
    fix my problem.
When playing a particular game on the internet it frequently
crashes and comes up with the error that it's a problem with
    Flash8b.ocx add-on. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Flash8 but
    with no joy.
    Anyone help?

Just a quick update on the Problem Record (8543494).
Whatever is causing this must be pretty major or difficult to
    track down.
Last Friday (29/04) I received a pretty standard looking
email from the support people asking if the problem had gone away -
it hasn't. They then asked me to follow through what looked like a
    list of diagnostics :-
    1. Try using another browser to test if it's a browser issue.
Flash and Shockwave player are also supported on Netscape and
Mozilla so these are good browsers for testing purposes. Test out
any rich content site on these browsers and see if you get the same
errors. If no, then it's an IE issue and you'll need to
repair/reinstall the program. If the same problems come up even on
other browsers, then it's a system issue.
    2. For system issues, it can be any of the following:
    a. Conflict with other software- there might be other
applications that use the same sound channel (for audio) and video
    card resources.
    b. Outdated or corrupt device drivers- Old sound and video
drivers may not support the Flash player, so it is recommended that
you update your device drivers. These are usually available from
    your device manufacturer's websites.
    c. Hardware acceleration is a setting for the video card
driver which allows it to interact with some of your system's
resources in rendering the screen display. By default, hardware
acceleration is set to 'Full'. Turning down this default setting
(one step at a time) often resolves display problems and audio
issues. The steps for changing this setting are:
    i. Right-click in a blank area of the Desktop.
ii. The location of the hardware acceleration control may
differ for your video card driver.
In Windows XP and 2000, choose Properties > Settings tab
    > Advanced button > Troubleshoot.
Turn your hardware acceleration down one level and then test
    your browser with Flash movies.
I had already tried most of these actions without any joy. I
hadn't tried the hardware acceleration. So I tried it and found it
    didn't help.
I've replied to support to tell them the results of the
diagnostics and that the problem remains.
I'm hoping for some inspired problem resolution from them
    soon.
    Simon.

  • Flash10e.ocx problem

when i go to a website that uses flash player like ustream or anything else flash10e.ocx crashes and my web browser gos down what should i do?

i have been having the same problem for a month or so.
i have tried uninstalling & then reinstalling the program as recommended but it continues to occur. as i have looked at other forums this is happening across the board  - all windows os (xp, vista, 7, both 32 & 64-bit) as well as with different browser versions (ie7, ie8) & browsers (firefox, chrome). there is some incompatibility with the latest flash player version & many websites.
hopefully adobe will send out a fix soon.

  • Flash8b.ocx problem

I tried to run a MXML app in FB2 b3 but it kept complainting
    that Flash 9 is needed.
I installed Flash 9 and Flash 9 was installed when FB2 was
    installed too.
How can I have the builder reference to Flash 9 instead of 8?
BTW, there was no Flash Player 8 in my list of programs
    available for removal.
    thanks

This is the second time I have heard of problems like this.
    Do you have any
idea what the actual problem is? Is this a commonly discussed
    problem on the
message boards? (I only come over here to the forums once in
    a while, and the
Flash player's installer is certainly not my area at all, so
    perhaps other
Adobe people are on the problem already, but I just thought I
    would ask.)

  • ¡URGENT! Problems with OCX in "runtime mode"

Hello everyboy, I have a problem with OCX. When I am developing, I have no problem inserting the OCX, but when I run the application, the OCX disappears, not exists.
I am using the Forms Builder [32 bits] Versión 6.0.8.25.2 ...
Ah, in the previous version Forms [32 bits] Versión 6.0.5.35.3, it worked
    Do I need any patch?
    ¡Thank you very much!

It's hard without seeing your specific application, but what
    you need to do
    is the following -
    1. Add a recordset to the page
    2. Place fields from this recordset into the cells of a table
    as desired
    3. Wrap the row with these cells in a looper/repeat region,
    so that the
recordset is incremented from beginning to end as the records
    are being
placed in the table and the page is built step by step

  • Problem Flash Player bei IE 11 mit HP Solution Center+Datei Flash.ocx

    Hallo
    activex.vch
    Flash64_15_0_0_189.ocx
    FlashInstall.log
    FlashUtil64_15_0_0_189_ActiveX.dll
    FlashUtil64_15_0_0_189_ActiveX.exe
    FlashUtil64_15_0_0_189_Plugin.exe
    NPSWF64_15_0_0_189.dll
    plugin.vch

  • Idump....problems with 'Mscomctl.ocx' and 'DllRegister Server'

    hi Martin and dfherrero,
I've been trying to open a program called 'idump'. I've been getting this error message when I try to open the program "Component 'Mscomctl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid". I also try the instructions but, like dfherrero another error message pops up which says,
"The module "MSCOMCTL.OCX" was loaded but the call to DllRegister Server failed with error code Ox8002801c. For more information about this problem, search online using the error code as a search term."
    please help me

Thank you Omie for your friendly help.
    Hi shadow,
    Welcome to MSDN forums!
Error: "The module "MSCOMCTL.OCX" was loaded but the call to DllRegister Server failed with error code Ox8002801c."
-> I agree with Omie. You need to register the "Mscomctl.ocx" control under Administrator role.
Method 1. New a batch file e.g. install.bat -> Place this command inside "REGSVR32 MSCOMCTL.OCX" and save it-> Right-click the batch file and select
    "Run as administrator"
Method 2. Log in Windows OS as Administrator, then click START--> RUN dialog -> Type command "REGSVR32 MSCOMCTL.OCX" to register this control.
Please track back this same issue for detailed instruction:

  • "Flash9b.ocx failed to register" error message and problems caused

I didn't want to update my flash player but finally was "bullied' into doing so, because i kept receiving a screen message telling me to update it, without being given the option to say "No. Thank you anyway."  After I updated my flash player to 11....something (I didn't memorize all the numbers), even though the installation completed, I now have this ERROR MESSAGE whenever I try to access the internet on my computer:
    Solution Center
    Module
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash\Flash9b.ocx failed to register.
I don't think I really needed my Flash player updated at all in the first place.  I don't use computer games and don't have an "x-box", I don't have a camera on, or with my computer.  I just didn't want to keep seeing that irritating demand to "Update".
Is there a way for me to remove the update and re-install the flash player I already had?
In the past, when I used my HP Officejet installation software from the original cd, to reinstall my printer-Solution Center software, it solved the problem I had when updating other Adobe software.  Unfortunately, the software from this cd, did not solve the problem this time.

Download the uninstaller for Flash Player
The Flash Player uninstaller executes on both 64-bit and 32-bit version of the Windows operating systems.
    uninstaller (797 KB)
You can download older versions here:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
Note: It's not only the Flash player updater that will prompt you to update - Many pages that have Flash content will REQUIRE the latest version and WON'T WORK with anything older.

    Hi,

  • OCX License Problem

I have the problem, if i added an ocx element in my form then it's running fine, but if i want to run it on another client, then the ole-server are empty. I thought, i need only the license key for developement. So it is in VB. But it seems, that forms will not save the running key in the binary file. Somebody knows more about that ?.
The other problem is that sometimes the form crashes, if we run OCX (Listview, Toolbar, Treeview, ImageCombo and so on), without any message. It seems that oracle is not 100% compatible with OCX controls. Our Version of forms is 6.0.8.14.1. (Thats Patch 5a). It is corrected on the new patches ?
To embedded the ocx controls it's very simple, but you have to write so many code.
    Thank you for help

    Hi to both of you.
This might happend because an evaluation mode of MS was installed before and then with the complete one overwrited. In order to avoid this you MUST uninstall the evaluation one before you install the complete one!
Here is couple of KBs that might be helpful
