ODBC Connectivity Error
Hi friends,
When i tried to connect user and test for ODBC connection for the succesful connection , it is failing and throwing the below error like
ORA-12154:TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified
But i can connect the user that im trying to connect via ODBC through toad or sql developer. But i dont know what was the problem, that it is not connecting via ODBC source.
Is there any reason's behind it
Thanks
Regards,
Mini
Hi mini,
It is clearly says Tns could not connected.
ORA-12154:TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Please check below steps.
1. Are try to connecting client system? If yes--> Check tns entry in tnsname.ora file.
2. In Obiee --> Connection pool--> check data source name--> username and password.
3. Are you try to connect windows client system then please install obiee Admintool client software and try to connect it.
4. Please recheck Dsn connection steps.
Hope this help's
Thanks

OBIEE 11g ODBC connectivity error
Hi all,
I am getting the following error when I tried to access a simple query through Answers.
"*Odbc driver returned an error (SQLExecDirectW).*
*Error Details*
*Error Codes: OPR4ONWY:U9IM8TAC:OI2DL65P*
*State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000] [nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred. [nQSError: 43113] Message returned from OBIS. *SQL Issued: SELECT s_0, s_1, s_2 FROM ( SELECT 0 s_0, "BISample"."Product"."BRAND" s_1, "BISample"."Target"."REVENUE" s_2 FROM "BISample" ) djm*"
What I did was
1. Create a DSN 'orcl', 32 bit Oracle ODBC driver. Tested and worked against the Oracle database.
2. Import metadata using Local, ODBC 3.5 and DSN = orcl
3. Build a simple BMM and subject area
4. In the phyiscal layer, right click on a table, and select view data/update row count. Error with message "The connection has failed"
5. Hoping for the best, create a simple query in answer and got the above odbc driver error in results tab.
Interestingly, if I edit the connection pool and use OCI (my SID is also orcl), then everything works fine.
I'm new to OBIEE and hope someone can tell me if I have missed a step or make any mistakes!
Thanks!
Regards
Han KiatHi All,
I am able to connect SQL Server database with OBIEE 11g RPD offline and imported metadata and verified update row count/view data but when i was trying to publish the same RPD the data is not returning also "update row count/view data" is giving and error "The connection has failed."

Environment:
OBIEE 11g/WLS 10.3.3/Oracle database 11g installed on RHL 5
Client tools are installed on local Vista 32 bit system.
Oracle database is working fin, where as SQL Server is giving issues.
You want me to create a ODBC connection in RHL 5 server to connect to SQL Server ? i am little bit confused here how to create !
same time i have created ODBC for oracle apps database and imported and able to view data in RPD when i am in Online mode.
When i open RPD in online mode and trying to import the data i dont have access to local machine ODBC's which is expected and if i change to "Remote Server" nothing is showing here.
Appreciate your comments on the above.

Windows ODBC connections error
I have oracle installed a client machine, linking to the server. When i sign into the server using SQL+ this works fine. However when i try and edit any ODBC driver connections in windows-control panel i get an error telling me that the networking components were not found. Also when i try to open the application that runs with oracle i get two similar errors.
The error boxes are as follows :-
little: Microsoft ODBC for oracle
Message:The Oracle(tm) client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by oracle corporation and are part of the oracle version 7.3 (or greater) client installation.
You are unable to use this driver until these components have been installed.
2.Title: Database error
Message: IM004:[Microsoft][ODBC driver manager] Drivers SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed.
This is strange because i have the connection in SQL plus to the same server and the other client machines i look after are working fine.
Right before the crash the machine had Nortan antivirus 7.61 and a Disk Defrag on C:
To remedy this i have un-installed and re-installed oracle client several times with no look.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have no further information about the Defrag of C: as our team did not run this, it was the IT support team we use.
Thanks in advance
DaveI am trying to connect through ODBC to an external Oracle (Solaris) database from a Windows Server 2003 Web Edition machine. I am getting the exact same error scenario with the MS ODBC Driver for Oracle. I would love to use the Oracle ODBC driver rather than the Microsoft one, but OUI installation of it (any version) fails (with no explanation in the log) every time.
I am using Oracle9i Client 9.2.0.1.0 with Oracle 9iR2 Patch Set 9.2.0.3.0. Do I need to get rid of that and go back to an older version of the client? And, if I do, will it work with WIndows Server 2003 Web Edition? I know my attempted installation of an 8.05 client failed with no error information.
I have verified that %ORACLE_HOME%\bin is in the path and that the user has read/execute rights to %ORACLE_HOME%.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hi,
I try to connect the Access Database in Dreamweaver. So I put
the DB at ..\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\ROOT and add the odbc driver
(Microsoft Access Driver) at ODBC data source administrator (both
system DSN and user DSN). And then I setup the connection in the
"Databases" box in dreamweaver and test ok. However, when I preview
the jsp page (which also placed in ..\Tomcat 5.5\webapps\ROOT), an
error occurs and display "Data Source Not Found". What is the

TerryIs that the "full" Client, not Instant Client?
Anyway, possibly you have a 64/32 bit mismatch (based on the system error 193, bad exe format). Do you have a 64-bit version of Office? If that is the case, is the Oracle Client and odbc driver installed also 64-bit? -
Hi,
This is Sathish, I am trying to create a report and retrieve data through stored procedure using ODBC Connection. When connecting to the Stored Procedure it is showing Database Connection Error 42000:[Microsoft][ODBC driver for oracle] Syntax error or access violation' Error.
CRXI R2, Oracle 9i.
What do i do to solve this issue.
Regards,
SathishHi Satish
It could be an issue with the driver.
You can try with the OLEDB n Oracle native connection to test if the issue persists.
Also you can refer to the [Troubleshooting Database Connectivity for Crystal Reports|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/d05b3bb7-0f28-2c10-4ea3-84dbdc4e414e&overridelayout=true]
Hope this helps!!

ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error from ADO ODBC connection in Access VB
I have an MS Access 2000 VB module that loads data from Access into an Oracle database. This worked when Access was 97 using DAO and Oracle RDBMS was 8i. Now, the database has been upgraded to 9i and Access has been upgraded to 2K using ADO. The error occurs at the time of connection. Here is my code:

StrSQL = OracleDBName
errstr = "Open DB: " & OracleDBConnectParm
Set Oracledbs = New ADODB.Connection

End With

Jdbc-odbc bridge connection error
Hi,
Please help me to create a jdbc-odbc connection from Jdev10g to a TSM server database.
I have created a database connection with the following parameters:

Informix ODBC driver error while creating a view in Designer
I nedd to ceate a view in a universe (Business Objects XI R2) that is connected to an Informix database. I use the 3.34 ODBC Informix driver.
When I write the select statement (select column from table) and check the syntax I have the following error:
"Exception: DBD, [Informix][Informix ODBC Driver][Informix]A syntax error has occurred.State: 42000"
Is there anybody who has solved this problem??
Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me hints on how to solve problem.
FabrizioHi Fabrizio,
The error state 42000 indicates that there is a syntax error or access violation. If you are using an Informix native client connection then add the following parameter <Parameter Name>"Force SQLExecute">Always</Parameter> in the informix.sbo file. Restart Designer and then try to create a derived table with a simple select statement.
If you are using an ODBC connection, then add the above mentioned parameter in the Generic section of odbc.sbo file.

Not seeing all DB tables in Crystal using ODBC connection
I have an ODBC connection to an oracle database. I can connect to the database and see all the tables through tools such as TOAD, SQL developer, SQLPlus, etc. However, in Crystal, i only see schema tables and not the tables I want. I am using the same connection, username, and password. If I run a report that was created in a different environment to the correct tables, I receive the error: ORA00942: table or view does not exist.
Oracle 10g
Crystal 12.0.0.683
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Diana WoronukHi Diana,
Go to File | Options and open the Database tab.
Make sure Tables and Views are checked. You may want to include Stored Procedures too.
Save the changes and restart Crystal.
You should see your tables now. If you have more than 200 objects in your database, you may need to use the Table Name Like option to filter out some of the tables.
Good luck,
Brian -
Failed to open the connection: Error Code 17
Here's an odd one.
Environment:
VB.NET Winform
Visual Studio 2008
.NET framework 2.0
Crystal Reports 2008
ODBC connection
I have three reports, living in the same directory. They are essentially identical, except for the grouping. All three run successfully within Crystal reports.
From a report viewer Winform in VS, two of the three run. As I am dealing with a small data set, the reports render quickly. On the third report, There is a long pause when the report viewer form opens, then I finally get an error:
"Failed to open the connection.

Failed to open the connection.
CallReportByExtension 58F5C135-7BA3-4215-898A-DADA6C7DAD9C.rpt
Details:[Database Vendor Code: 17]
I was initially getting similar errors on all three reports, before changing the datasource location to my ODBC connection. I have double-checked the location, verified the database, etc.
What am I doing wrong? I can provide the VB code if requested, but since the other two reports work properly, I doubt it's code. I do know that I am passing the report name and path correctly to the report viewer form.
As I am about to kick my monitor through the window and become a street denizen, I would greatly appreciate any help that would be offered.
Thanks,

Oracle ODBC - Internal Error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load
I'm having some trouble with my ODBC connections which I hope someone can please help me with!
About 6 weeks ago all was working as normal.
As far as I know there have been no updates to the ORacle DB, the Windows XP operating system or the ODBC Drivers.
Today when I opened access and visual case 2 to connect to Oracle I was at first greeted with a:
unable to connect SQLState=IM004 SQL_HANDLE_ENV
error. ODBC also kept crashing.
I restarted the computer and was confronted with a different error:
odbc SQLSTate 08004 ORA 12154 TNS could not resolve the connect identifier specified
I was able to fix this error by setting the environment variable TNS_ADMIN in windows xp environment variables. I'm extremely confused about how this happened though as it was working and I don't think anything has changed.
I was then able to connect to the database via Microsoft Access but when I opened Visual Case 2 and tried to make an update, I was confronted with the following error:
Oracle ODBC Driver - internal error - unable to initialize NLS during driver load
I looked in the registry at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraClient10g_home1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraClient10g_home2
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Oracle\KEY_OraDb10g_home1
and NLS_LANG was set to "AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252" in all 3 places.
(Though KEY_OraClient10g_home2 only had 4 entries as opposed to KEY_OraClient10g_home1's 13 entries)...
Since I made those changes I can no longer connect through Access.
I just receive a ODBC - connection to 'xxx' failed
Advice greatly appreciated!!!!
Edited by: user11150264 on Aug 25, 2009 10:21 PMActually it sort of does...
I switched the ODBC connection to use instant client and now it's all working again.
The biggest mystery is what changed to make it suddenly stop working the old way... -
Visio Database Wizard fails - ODBC connection to MS SQL
When I try to create an ODBC connection in Visio's 2010's Database wizard I get the error: "Cannot set the database context information. Additional error information:ODBC Error: s1009. Database cxweba does not exist."
Note that the database name is cxwebapp_bkk. I get the same error if I connect to any database on that server, and it always truncates the name in the error message (if that is a hint to the error).
Using Visio 2013, after connecting to the database: when I select the database object I get the error message: "The selected table has only one field or contains no definition information. The Database Wizard requires a minimum of one key field
and one additional data field."
I have this problem using both SQL Server driver (6.02.9200.116384 and SQL Server Native Client 11.0 (2011.1102.2100.60).
I do not have this problem connecting to a MYSQL database with either version of Visio, nor do I have this problem when I link link to the same SQL database in a drawing and link shapes in that drawing using the "Link Data to Shapes" under the
Data tab.Hello,
What's the version of the SQL Server instance you connect to? It seems that the Database Wizard in Visio 2010 not work well with the Microsoft SQL Server ODBC driver. Did you try to use the Generic OLEDB Provider for SQL Server?
Since the issue is more related to office Visio, please post the question in the following forum. More experts there will assist you:
