Hi,
1.) Make sure firewall open for that server.
2) Try to enable TCP/IP via MYSQL configuration manager.
3) then try to connect it.
Thanks

    Hi all,
    I am getting the following error when I tried to access a simple query through Answers.

    What I did was
    1. Create a DSN 'orcl', 32 bit Oracle ODBC driver. Tested and worked against the Oracle database.
    2. Import metadata using Local, ODBC 3.5 and DSN = orcl
    3. Build a simple BMM and subject area
    4. In the phyiscal layer, right click on a table, and select view data/update row count. Error with message "The connection has failed"
    5. Hoping for the best, create a simple query in answer and got the above odbc driver error in results tab.
    Interestingly, if I edit the connection pool and use OCI (my SID is also orcl), then everything works fine.
    I'm new to OBIEE and hope someone can tell me if I have missed a step or make any mistakes!
    Thanks!

    Hi All,
    I am able to connect SQL Server database with OBIEE 11g RPD offline and imported metadata and verified update row count/view data but when i was trying to publish the same RPD the data is not returning also "update row count/view data" is giving and error "The connection has failed."

    Environment:
    OBIEE 11g/WLS 10.3.3/Oracle database 11g installed on RHL 5
    Client tools are installed on local Vista 32 bit system.
    Oracle database is working fin, where as SQL Server is giving issues.
    You want me to create a ODBC connection in RHL 5 server to connect to SQL Server ? i am little bit confused here how to create !
    same time i have created ODBC for oracle apps database and imported and able to view data in RPD when i am in Online mode.
    When i open RPD in online mode and trying to import the data i dont have access to local machine ODBC's which is expected and if i change to "Remote Server" nothing is showing here.
    Appreciate your comments on the above.

  • Can I make Oracle/Microsoft Odbc connection without TNS service???

    Hi All,
    I want to make ADODB connection to oracle 10g database. For this currently I am using odbc connection, which requires TNS service setup in my pc. Hence I need to install Oracle client on my pc as well. Which requires license.
    So is there any alternative, with which I can make my ADODB connection without TNS service implementation. Or any inputs on this will do for me. Only the thing is i need some freeware with which i can do this.
    Thnx,
    kc

    Hi,
    Well I think you might have landed in the wrong forum.
    This forum is for the Oracle Call Interface (OCI) which is a C programming interface to Oracle.
    Your question doesn't look to be about that unless I am misreading it.
    Perhaps you are looking for the Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) downloads?
    These include client software in addition to the various data access components on Windows.
    ODAC is located here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/visual-studio/downloads/index.html

  • Windows ODBC connections error

    I have oracle installed a client machine, linking to the server. When i sign into the server using SQL+ this works fine. However when i try and edit any ODBC driver connections in windows-control panel i get an error telling me that the networking components were not found. Also when i try to open the application that runs with oracle i get two similar errors.
    The error boxes are as follows :-
    little: Microsoft ODBC for oracle
    Message:The Oracle(tm) client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by oracle corporation and are part of the oracle version 7.3 (or greater) client installation.
    You are unable to use this driver until these components have been installed.
    2.Title: Database error
    Message: IM004:[Microsoft][ODBC driver manager] Drivers SQLAllocHandle on SQL_HANDLE_ENV failed.
    This is strange because i have the connection in SQL plus to the same server and the other client machines i look after are working fine.
    Right before the crash the machine had Nortan antivirus 7.61 and a Disk Defrag on C:
    To remedy this i have un-installed and re-installed oracle client several times with no look.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    I have no further information about the Defrag of C: as our team did not run this, it was the IT support team we use.
    Thanks in advance

    I am trying to connect through ODBC to an external Oracle (Solaris) database from a Windows Server 2003 Web Edition machine. I am getting the exact same error scenario with the MS ODBC Driver for Oracle. I would love to use the Oracle ODBC driver rather than the Microsoft one, but OUI installation of it (any version) fails (with no explanation in the log) every time.
    I am using Oracle9i Client 9.2.0.1.0 with Oracle 9iR2 Patch Set 9.2.0.3.0. Do I need to get rid of that and go back to an older version of the client? And, if I do, will it work with WIndows Server 2003 Web Edition? I know my attempted installation of an 8.05 client failed with no error information.
    I have verified that %ORACLE_HOME%\bin is in the path and that the user has read/execute rights to %ORACLE_HOME%.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Is that the "full" Client, not Instant Client?
    Anyway, possibly you have a 64/32 bit mismatch (based on the system error 193, bad exe format). Do you have a 64-bit version of Office? If that is the case, is the Oracle Client and odbc driver installed also 64-bit?

  • Oracle 8i Database Connection Error

    Hello
    I have installed Oracle8i Enterprise on WinNT
    4.0.However I am unable to connect to the
    database thru' SQLPlus and I am getting the above error "TNS COULD NOT RESOLVE SERVICE NAME".I also checked the same thru' Net8i
    assistant and tried testing of connection to database which has been created under my name
    "Sumit" .I am therefore unable to connect to the database and getting similar errors ORA-12541 and sometimes ORA-01034.Please help me out.The login user name I am using is "scott"
    password "tiger" and hoststring is "Sumit".
    Thanks

    Dear Sudip,
    Thanks a lot for responding to my message ..I had lost hope of
    receiving a response.Sudip,I tried connecting throu' Net8 configuration
    as "SYSTEM" and password "MANAGER" but couldnt connect thro'.Although
    I must mention that I could log on to SQLPLUS as INTERNAL/ORACLE after
    which I gave the STARTUP command .The Oracle instance got started
    however it also gave me an error ORA-00205 "error in identifying
    controlfile, check alert log for more info".Now I tried to create a
    SCOTT/TIGER schema but the script does not run and I get the following
    error
    SP2-0310: unable to open file "OraHome81\RDBMS\ADMIN\SCOTT.SQL"
    and the same with "Sumit\RDBMS\ADMIN\SCOTT.SQL" .I am neither able to
    create a table as it gives "database not open error" .
    Sudip there is another aspect which I would like to bring to your
    attention .It is that in the Control panel,when I click the server icon
    it gives me "not enough server memory to process this command".
    Also when I click the Services icon and try to start the
    OraHome81Management server it gives me "the system could not find the
    environment option that was entered" and is unable to start and with
    the OraHome81TNSListener it gives me "the process terminated
    unexpectedly " error and is unable to start either.
    Now I wonder where the problem could lie !.Could it be with the OS
    --WinNt and if so what could be the way to rectify it.Please help if
    you can or alternatively if you know about any other forum where this
    problem can be addressed..Thanks again..REGARDS

  • Oracle Sales Analyzer Connectivity Error

    We have olap configured at our environment. We want to import a new express database into olap environment from a different location. We have been able to attach this new database in express server But when we try to connect to this database through sales analyzer then it shows "I/O error on file..., parameter is incorrect". Does we have to change any I/O settings through Express Administrator? Can any one help?

    It is regarding Express Database that was used by a client at their Head Office. They have provied us some DB files(e.g. "mdw.db","dmdw.db","mdmdw.db","pdmdw.db" and similar more like these). They have been using these databases in their sales analyzer through express relational access administrator. Now we want to user their database in our OLAP environment with our sales analyzer. But after attaching these databases in express server, we can't connect sales analyzer/application manager tools of OSA to these through relational access administrator. Can you explain why or How can we use those db files in our environment?

  • Connection to MySQL via ODBC not working

    Hello all together,
    I've got a problem with the ODBC connection to MySQL. The connection via ODBC is established and things like tnsping are working.
    When I select some data within the SQL*Plus environment, I get no real result. For example "select table_name from all_tables@mysql;" returns nothing.
    My entry in listener.ora:
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME=odbc_mysql)
    (ORACLE_HOME=D:\oracle\product\11.0.1\db_1)
    (PROGRAM=dg4odbc)
    My entry in tnsnames.ora:
    MYSQL =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = localhost)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID=odbc_mysql))
    (HS=OK)
    The initodbc_mysql.ora in ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin/:
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = odbc_mysql
    HS_AUTOREGISTER = TRUE
    HS_DB_NAME = hsodbc
    I tried some modifications but I still get no data from mysql database. When I try "select * from customer@mysql;" I get the correct number of records, the correct column names, but the content is always "¬¬¬¬". The odbc driver works, because with MS Access I can fetch the data. I'm using Oracle 11g Release 1 EE and MySQL ODBC 5.1.5.
    What could be the reason for this?
    Greetings,
    Joerg

    created in my UTF-8 Mysql DB your table and inserted a record; the select shows:
    SQL> select * from "movieclass"@mysql;
    idClass
    ClassName
    123
    H e l l o
    As you can see the content is there, the "space" between the letters is related to unicode. Each character is interpreted by 2 bytes and SQL*Plus wrongly displays both. Using iSQLPLus or SQLDeveloper does not show the "space" between the letters.
    Here the data type mapping:
    SQL> desc "movieclass"@mysql;
    Name Null? Type
    idClass NUMBER(3)
    ClassName NOT NULL NVARCHAR2(50)
    What's the exact version of DG4ODBC you're using? 11.1.0.7?
    According to the listener file you're using DG4ODBC on Windows. There was a high/low byte issue in DG4ODBC for Windows. This issue is fixed in 11.1.0.7 and a certain patch. So I recommend you to get first the 11.1.0.7 patchset (if you don't already have it installed):
    6890831 Oracle Database Family: Patchset
    11.1.0.7.0 PATCH SET FOR ORACLE DATABASE SERVER 11.1.0.7.0
    and then please apply also the latest patch:

    ORACLE 11G 11.1.0.7 PATCH 16 BUG FOR WINDOWS 32 BIT 11.1.0.7.0

  • MySQL ODBC Connection

    Hi all,
    Can anyone please let me know how to make ODBC Connection with MySql in JSP.
    Steps wise explanation will be highly appreciated.
    thanks for any help in advance,
    savdeep.

    Why you go for ODBC, better to use JDBC connection.
    Class.forName("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver").newInstance();
    Connection connection = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://127.0.0.1:3306/databasename", User, Pass);

  • Can I connect to MySQL database

    sorry for my English...
    I'm absolutely new in Flex
    can I connect to MySQL database?
    I read here that I need to create a java class file and edit
    an xml to create connection to oracle, can I connect to MySQL
    server too, I think that the PHP-XML is too slow to work with lare
    amounts of data... so can you post me MXML, the XML, and the JAVA
    class file, with I will be able to send sql to mysql server and get
    the response?
    or FDS is a stand-alone SQL server?

    Flex is not a SQL server.
    The Flex SDK and compiler supports developing applications
    that run in the Flash player.
    Flex Data Services is deployed as a Java web application that
    simplifies integrating Flex clients with Java server-side resources
    (including interacting with SQL databases via Java).
    FlexBuilder is an IDE for developing Flex apps.
    I'd recommend spending some time browsing the Flex product
    area on adobe.com.

    Hi Klaus,
    I think the unixODBC driver manager is installed
    I have:
    oracle@pcora11:/opt/oracle/product/11.2.0/gtw_odbc/hs/log> odbcinst -j
    unixODBC 2.2.11
    DRIVERS............: /etc/unixODBC/odbcinst.ini
    SYSTEM DATA SOURCES: /etc/unixODBC/odbc.ini
    USER DATA SOURCES..: /home/oracle/.odbc.ini
    and
    cat /etc/unixODBC/odbcinst.ini
    [MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver]
    Driver = /usr/lib64/libmyodbc5.so
    UsageCount = 1
    but the two file for SYSTEM and USER DSN are empty.
    I tried now:
    HS_FDS_SHAREABLE_NAME =/usr/lib64/libodbc.so
    and
    HS_LANGUAGE=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1
    and the result is still the same, what I posted in the prevoius answer to Mike,
